Jackie Chan is back in Hollywood (against his better judgment) and is joining a cavalcade of stars including Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilu Henner, Shirley MaClaine and MANY MORE - including ol' blue eyes himself Frank Sinatra - in the cross-country race (?) comedy (?) CANNONBALL RUN II which brings back all the things you know and love(?) about the first film, and.. well, that's just about it. It's pretty much the same thing. Except there's an orangutan this time, and Jackie has been teamed up with Richard Kiel just to make sure we all know he's extra small and (once again) bafflingly Japanese. Listen to Liam's blood pressure rise in REAL TIME as he describes his time with the film. ENJOY! James Bond goes up against Hugo Drax, a billionaire with a private space rocket company who's secretly a eugenicist, plotting to kill everyone on earth and replace them with his idea of a master race who lives in space. I don't know why this sounds so familiar. Also, Jaws the Henchman shows up and goes through so many near-deaths, you'd think he was fighting Bugs Bunny. Starring Roger Moore, Michael Lonsdale, Richard Kiel, Lois Chiles, and Corrine Clery. Written by Christopher Wood from Ian Fleming's novel. Directed by Lewish Gilbert.

It took 98 episodes and double-oh-seven-and-a-half years for Jonny and Darin to talk about a James Bond film, but NostalgiaCast finally tackles everyone's favorite tuxedo-wearing, license-to-kill-bearing sex pest with THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, starring 007 as Roger Moore. Popcorn Digest co-hosts Gareth Green and Andrew Raphael lend their Bond expertise to an in-depth discussion of Moore's best(?) outing as the character, as well as their histories with / fondness for the franchise as a whole.   (PLEASE NOTE: Darin's audio file was corrupted during the recording and was salvaged as best as possible. So in the interest of preserving the conversation, the episode is presented as is. We apologize for any inconvenience to your eardrums.)

The game we're discussing today may have the most star-studded cast of any game we'll ever review: Mya, Shannon Elizabeth, Heidi Klum, Judi Dench, John Cleese, Willem Dafoe and Pierce Brosnan. We're going back to 2004 to an action-adventure game starring one of the world's most famous fictional agents. We're talking James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we look at the early days of Visceral Games (when they were still called EA Redwood Shores). We also discuss a teaser trailer that doesn't have Bond's voice and gives GoldenEye vibes, as well as some top celeb interviews about facial expressions and the size of controllers when in the hands of Richard Kiel.In our review, you'll hear some chat on the co-op campaign that Josh enjoyed 20 years ago, a decent amount of opportunities to employ serviceable stealth, how we see the character fitting in stealthy scenarios, the Q Spider and your modest assortment of gadgets, the Nano Suit and a draining battery, an INVISIBLE CAR (but can the enemies hear it?), solid cover shooting before the golden age of the third-person shooter, the safety of fine-tuning your aim behind a wall, difficulty spikes and trial-and-error set-pieces, the coolness of the rappel gun, trying to read the map while shooting missiles and breaking the speed limit in your Need for Speed car, optional Bond Moments, lobbing spanners at heads, Jaws what are you doing here, fireworks in Peru, flamethrowers attached to motorbike, absolute popcorn nonsense, nods to old movies, a checked out Brosnan, a poor supporting cast, a tingling Bond Sense, and where does Everything or Nothing by Mya rank on our list of THE GREATEST BOND SONGS EVER!?!?!?!After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Alias on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

With the imminent arrival of Susan Marx's memoir, “Speaking of Harpo”, it's the perfect time to celebrate the (not) mute, (not) red-haired, (not) second-born, (not) Adolph Marx. Noah leads an examination of both the man and character, including the invaluable “Harpo Speaks”. We look at the evolution of his stage and screen persona, speculate if Harpo could have succeeded on his own, and explore the passion for his namesake instrument. We then have some fun giving Harpo “hot takes,” before naming our favorite performances and other oddities. You'll be left speechless. Baz Luhrmann's ELVIS is upon us, so it is now time for OMFYS' ELVIS EPISODE! First, Elvis Presley himself is a karate-chopping, motorcycle-riding, rock and roll rebel with a big chip on his shoulder who falls in with a traveling carnival in ROUSTABOUT (1964). Only Elvis' singing can keep the carnival from being gobbled up by a sideshow conglomerate, so it's up to carny queen Barbara Stanwyck (!) to convince him to stop being a dick long enough to save the show in what is (kinda sorta) the Elvis movie version of Nightmare Alley. Also starring Joan Freeman and the age appropriate love interest and Leif Erickson as the drunken carnival foreman who runs Elvis off the road in a fit of rage + Richard Kiel as the strong man, Teri Garr shaking her tail as a cooch tent dancer and Billy Barty as the butt of Elvis' cancellable jokes. Raquel Welch is also in here somewhere. Produced by Hal Wallis (Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, True Grit) if you can believe that! Roustabout is currently streaming for free with ads on Pluto. And next, we go for a bit of ELVIS PANIC with THE WORLD'S GREATEST SINNER (1962), the zero-budget passion project from Timothy Carey, the unhinged character actor who once drove Marlon Brando to stab him with a pencil. Best known for small but utterly engrossing performances in Kubrick's The Killing (1956) and Paths of Glory (1957), Carey poured everything he had (including the labor of several family members) into this tale of Clarence Hilliard, a bored insurance salesman who transforms himself into a dangerous cult leader and proclaims himself a god through very Elvis-like rock and roll performances. Featuring Paul Frees (Mars and Beyond/Episode 3) as the voice of the Devil himself and music by a very young Frank Zappa. Now streaming on Prime for an extra 99¢ rental. All this plus Robert Lopez AKA EL VEZ stops by to discuss the upcoming mega Elvis biopic, Elvis Presley's own movie career and the continuing impact of the King of Rock and Roll on pop culture. Hosts: Bob Calhoun, Cory Sklar, and the father-daughter duo of Greg Franklin & Philena Franklin Weed is available at your local dispensary in participating states.

Book Vs. Movie: The Spy Who Loved MeThe 1962 Novel Vs the 1977 James Bond FilmThe Margos love a good spy novel and James Bond usually makes for a fun, exciting read. We found out that this novel, The Spy Who Loved Me, written very quickly by Ian Fleming at his estate “Goldeneye” in January & February of 1961 turned out to be in the words of his biographer Andrew Lycett, his “most sleazy and most violent story ever.” It was so bad that Fleming received the worst reviews of his career and he tried to eradicate it from his list of work. The story is at first told in the first person by the character Vivian Michel, a woman who has it ROUGH in this story until James Bond comes to save her. We will get into the tawdry details in the show and then gladly move on to the 1977 film adaptation starring Roger Moore as our Bond. Much of the book was left out of the screenplay and the character of “Jaws” was an evil highlight. The theme song by Carly Simon was written by Marvin Hamlish and Carol Bayer Sager. Colt Seavers and Howie go undercover in a desert prison to find Animal, the only person who can clear the name of a parole-jumping man back in LA. Of course, things go sideways as the warden -- the only man who knows Colt and Howie aren't convicts -- ends up in a coma and his second-in-command turns out to be a real Buford T. Justice type. Soon, Colt teams up with Animal to stage a prison break and head back to LA to find Red Eye, the man who helped Animal with the original heist. Will Colt be able save the man who put him in this predicament? Do you even remember who that is? Erik and Justin try to determine if Howie is off-brand Bruce Boxleitner or off-brand Duncan Regehr. They also get into the weeds with The Fall Guy's premise, Heather Thomas, and Starcrash. Justin acknowledged Burn Notice owes a lot to shows like The Fall Guy. Erik works the phrase "the unknown stuntman" into the discussion more than once. The pair decide Dengar is the Star Wars bounty hunter who spends a lot of credits at the strip club. Richard Kiel gets praised and, of course, a Geography Corner breaks out.

The Force Fed Sci-Fi Movie Podcast

This time, we're doing a Moonraker movie review by taking a journey with Her Majesty's Secret Service and James Bond. We were also joined by special guest Colin Hope in our podcast episode and we asked, would James Bond make a decent astronaut? Is Hugo Drax a precursor to billionaire villains like Gordon Gekko? and how does the James Bond franchise manage to be a cultural zeitgeist time and time again? Let's dig in on this edition of Force Fed Sci-Fi! Moonraker (1979) Cast and Crew Directed by Lewis Gilbert: Prior to directing Moonraker, Gilbert had already helmed two Bond films with You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me so, he was no stranger to the franchise and certainly brought the unique flair the 1970's required of Bond films. Roger Moore as James Bond: This was the actor's fourth Bond film following the previously mentioned The Spy Who Loved Me. His films have since gained the reputation as being the weirdest and wackiest in the series. There are numerous gags that are more for laughs than thrills and Moonraker was no exception. Michael Lonsdale as Hugo Drax: While Lonsdale is more known as an actor in the French cinema, he plays a maniacal billionaire with aspirations of world colonization and eugenics, but for most of the film, he spends his time posturing against 007. From lavish meals to playing an automatic piano and surrounding himself with beautiful women, Drax is someone who wants to be like Bond and will go to every length to fulfill that wish. Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead: While Chiles does an admirable job playing Bond's CIA equivalent, she's often discounted in the film simply because she is a woman, even though she proves herself more knowledgeable about space travel than 007. Chiles has gone on to distance herself from her portrayal of Dr. Goodhead citing that it's impossible to live up to people's fantasies. Richard Kiel as Jaws: Reprising his role from The Spy Who Loved Me, Kiel is actually given a romantic storyline involving a woman of his complete opposite after the producers received letters suggesting the villain become a hero after the character resonated with children. Numerous other veterans from the Bond series reprise their respective roles like: Bernard Lee as M Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny Desmond Llewelyn as Q. It Wasn't Supposed to Be This Way…. If you're familiar with the early James Bond films, the credits would often contain the line of “James Bond will return in [INSERT NEXT MOVIE]” and the film that preceded Moonraker was no exception with the next film in the series slated to be For Your Eyes Only, but obviously, this did not happen thanks to a little film called Star Wars. Following the release of the blockbuster in 1977, the Bond producers accelerated their original plan of making Moonraker sometime in the 1980's to 1979 as it became clear that audiences wanted to see space adventures on the big screen. It's the first film on Force Fed Sci-Fi that was made in direct response to another film. While For Your Eyes Only would still be released in 1981, moving Moonraker up in the production schedule certainly added unique challenges. The budget for the film was slated for $34 million which was the most expensive Bond film at the time and twice as much as The Spy Who Loved Me. The series is noted for its massive production design and globetrotting adventures, but the legendary spy going to space may not have been as complex as you'd think. To pull off the look of the massive space station for the film's climax, the special effects team built an impressive miniature that they would blow apart with shotguns to simulate the station being destroyed. While the zero gravity scenes now seem hokey with other space films like Apollo 13 and Ad Astra pioneering new ways to showcase actors in the zero gravity vacuum of space, they were still impressive at the time and one of the scenes even contains the most zero gravity wires ever used in a ...

Boyle is said to have a female villain at the centre of his Bond film and he is actively casting the role now.” * Additionally, CashleyPersia alleges that Angelina Jolie is set to play the villain, while Lily James and Dua Lipa, among others, are in the running for Daniel Craig's co-lead. “I've heard that Boyle has committed to a script and casting is underway.” They continued: “Supposedly, the big roles in the script are the female villain and Bond's understudy (another female role). “I hear Sophie Rundle, Lily James, Ella Purnell and Antonia Thomas have auditioned/met with Boyle (though this list is not exhaustive). The role is not a love interest however, [it's] the co-lead of the film. I've also heard that Boyle isn't adverse to discovering a new name and possibly someone who isn't an actress. Though it sounds like a moronic suggestion, I've heard the singer Dua Lipa is high on the list.” The leaker added: “Finally, the main villain has been written with Angelina Jolie in mind. I've heard this name for a very long while. I never quite trusted it but Boyle has wanted her since day one and it looks as though she's keen. They are now actively courting her and the script is being adjusted accordingly.”* The rumours of Bond's death may be greatly exaggerated: * Another rumour making the rounds in Hollywood right is that of Bond's apparent death in Bond 25. An apparent source has said the following: “It is written as Craig's final Bond film and I hear Logan being used as a comparison often still.”* MCU-style shared universe for Bond? * Is James Bond about to evolve further into the modern world of shared movie universes ala Marvel and Star Wars? It certainly looks that way and there's evidence that Craig's final 007 movie will be the catalyst that sets up the Bond expanded universe. The first whiff of this arrived in June 2017 when The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider claimed he'd heard Bond producers were exploring the idea. Sneider, a writer for the Hollywood Insider, tweeted: “I've heard the Broccolis have caught Universe Fever and would love to explore other corners of the Bond franchise... simultaneously.”* Bond's got new rules, Danny Boyle counts 'em * Bookmakers have reduced the odds of Dua being named as the Bond theme singer, now making her the favourite, with Ed Sheeran and Jessie J also being strongly touted as potential artists to get involved.* Michael Shannon Bond villain? * Michael Shannon was recently a guest on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Fallon brought up the potential for Shannon to take on the role of the villain in the upcoming Bond film. Shannon replied with the following: “I think this might have something to do with the fact that out of all the people I've been said I resemble – and there's a rather long list – but the only one that's probably at the top is a Mr Richard Kiel, who played the fellow Jaws in old timey James Bond movies. Yeah that's who people say I look like most often. You'd know who'd make a good Bond villain? My cat.”* Deadpool 2's Morena Baccarin weighs in on becoming Bond * While doing an interview with CinePop for the upcoming Deadpool 2, Morena Baccain, who plays Vanessa in the film, was asked who she thought should play Bond next: “I think... --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-words-are-not-enough/support

George Lewis, not George Lucas! But that's an easy mistake to make as this is The Humanoid, a shameless Star Wars rip-off featuring Lord Graal. He's a bit like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs. Watch as gargantuan Richard Kiel from James Bond, becomes the titular hero. Also on the program, Open Grave, a military experiment gone wrong film in which a man awakens in an open grave and doesn't know how he got there. He meets up with survivalists and they don't know how they got there either. And lastly, Babysitter Massacre, an homage to 80s slasher flicks.

"Pale Rider" marks Clint Eastwood's 10th time directing himself in a film, something he went on doing until 2008's "Gran Torino" and something he clearly knows how to do well. This seems to hold true especially in westerns, even though he only directed himself in four of them. Perhaps that's because he had so much experience in them and learned from other directors like Sergio Leone how to stand, how to ride, how to stare, how to shoot on film. And while "Pale Rider" is an obvious retelling of the classic 1953 film "Shane," it can stand on its own merits and doesn't feel like a ripoff. Join us -- Pete Wright and Andy Nelson -- as we come to the last film in our Richard Dysart series, 1985's "Pale Rider." We talk about the story of this film and how lean it is, while also apparently being a ghost story, something neither of us ever caught on to until reading up on it. We discuss the actors, notably Eastwood, Michael Moriarty, Carrie Snodgress, Richard Kiel, Sydney Penny, and of course Richard Dysart, and how well they work in this film. We chat about the Biblical references in the film, the idea of Eastwood's character, Preacher, being a ghost, and how that structure works in context of this story. We talk about the nature of the little man versus the corporate machine, something we've talked about in a few recent episodes, and how it works in this film. We go over the look of this film and discuss what Bruce Surtees and Eastwood bring to the film by using low lighting, particularly for the night and interior scenes. And we touch on Lennie Niehaus's music and why it works so well in context of the film. It's a classic western with some great moments that further cement Eastwood as the true iconic 'stranger' character. Give it a watch then tune in!* * *Hey! You know what would be awesome?
