The 1984 Mr. Olympia contest was one of the best Olympia's in the 60 year history of that competition. Featuring 20 of the best bodybuilders of that time, the 1984 Mr. Olympia featured bodybuilders from the 1970's (Chris Dickerson, Boyer Coe, Robby Robinson, Albert Beckles, Roy Callender, Bob Birdsong) matching up with the current group of bodybuilding champs (Lee Haney, Mohamed Makkawy, Samir Bannout, Jusup Wilcosz, Bob Paris). The most exciting aspect of this contest, however, was the return of Sergio Oliva to the Mr. Olympia stage. After a 12 year absence from the Mr. Olympia contest, Sergio decided to come back to New York and make a bid for the title. Lee Haney won his first of eight Mr. Olympia titles at this contest and he showed the dominance that would make him the best bodybuilder of the 1980's and one of the greatest of all time. On this episode of the Bodybuilding Legends Podcast, host John Hansen reads all the contest reports of the 1984 Mr. Olympia from the major bodybuilding magazines (Muscle & Fitness, Flex, Muscle Mag International and IronMan). In his own words My purpose is to teach patients how to modify their lifestyle and diet and posture and muscular balance to feel better and have a healthier life free from chronic disease. When I was young, I was very heavy. I changed my eating to a healthier, lower fat, natural foods diet, and started exercising and I lost a lot of weight. Then when I was reaching my later teenage years, I was not happy being a 90 lb. weakling–in fact a 150 lb. weakling, so I started to weight train and and eat more protein and I put on muscle and became a successful bodybuilder. I won the Mr. Los Angeles competition in 1985. I had learned how to lose or gain weight to improve my appearance. However, I looked good, but I felt bad. I had a huge amount of gas and bloating and a lot of stomach pains. I discovered that certain foods, like dairy, and certain carbohydrate foods that had helped me to gain weight, were difficult for me to digest and tolerate. I had nearly constant symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I also started to suffer from hypoglycemic episodes from eating health food oatmeal cookies and bran muffins that spiked my blood sugar and I realized that I had to avoid eating such high glycemic carbs. I realized that how you eat dramatically affects your digestive system and your physiology. Your digestive system is your key to overall health. It is where you digest your food and absorb nutrients. It is the wall that must be kept intact to keep out toxins. A break down of this intestinal mucosal wall is often referred to as leaky gut. I came to understand that having a healthy gastrointestinal system is a key to your overall health. I have been studying and discovering ways to improve digestion in order to improve your health and help you to prevent and overcome chronic diseases. I want to show others not only how to manipulate your body composition, but to help them figure out a way to eat that makes them feel their best. I also became gradually became more aware of how alterations in your posture and structural alignment can result in pain and altered function. As a chiropractor, by analyzing and helping patients to make corrections in their posture and alignment is one of my focuses in practice. This occurs both with regular chiropractic adjustments and chiropractic treatments, as well as with teaching patients proper postural cues and exercises. 10 Theories on the Origins of Freemasonry I finally read the name of a book I mentioned in a previous episode by Peary Rader, the original editor of IronMan Magazine from the early 1940's. The name of the book was called “The Rader Master Bodybuilding and Weight Gaining System” which was originally published in 1946 I then read a lecture that was delivered to the Quatuor Coronati Lodge No. 2076 9 November 2000 by Bro. Roeinton B. Khambatta Inaugural Paper delivered to Quatuor Coronati Lodge No. 2076 9 November 2000 The paper was to summarize (my summaries) the views expressed in AQC of the twentieth century on 'The Origins of speculative Freemasonry'.5 The author covers 10 Theories of the Origins of Speculative Freemasonry from article found in papers and research articles from Ars Quatuor Coronati Lodge, the world's premiere masonic research lodge. Each one of these theories sheds light in some way shape or form that might be true or untrue but to this day, no one has been able to conclusively prove them one way or another. And yes, the Freemasons have been accused of being connected to some outrageous conspiracy theories since almost the beginning and this is one of many reasons to strengthen your Masonic Education at your lodge and individually. 1.
