A Legacy of Unaffected Living, DOMUS NYC, became an iconic landmark in Hell's Kitchen from 2002 to 2024. This beloved store Domus, translating to "home" in Latin, was located in Hell's Kitchen NYC, was founded by Luisa Cerutti and Nicki Lindheimer, who drew inspiration from their extensive travels around the globe. The shop was renowned for its quirky, artsy feel, characterized by eclectic window displays, a distinctive red doorway, and a warm, welcoming sign that invited passersby to explore its unique offerings. Before launching DOMUS, Luisa Cerutti cultivated a rich background in retail. She spent five years as a footwear buyer at the prestigious Fifth Avenue JOAN & DAVID store, and prior to that, she owned Luisa Boutique in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where she showcased clothing, shoes, and accessories. Luisa's also served as an area manager for the BENETTON GROUP from 1980 to 1984, further deepening her expertise in fashion retail. Fluent in English, French, Italian, and Spanish, Luisa's linguistic skills were instrumental in her global sourcing efforts. Born into a scholarly family in St. Augustine, Trinidad, her father is a professor of botany, and her mother worked as a librarian. Roxanne Barton Conlin was born, the oldest of six children in Huron, South Dakota, to Marion W. and Alyce M. Barton. In 1958, her family experiencing poverty, with violence from an abusive father, relocated to Des Moines, Iowa. At the age of 14 she joined the local chapter of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, then the Polk County Young Democrats and became active in antiwar peace marches and demonstrations.At 16, Conlin entered Drake University in 1961, without graduating from high school, and graduated from law school with honors, summa cum laude at 21, with a Bachelor of Arts, when she married James Conlin in 1964, and had four children together. She gained a Juris Doctor in 1966 and a Master of Public Administration in 1978, earning honors such as Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Alpha Alpha. Her legal career began in private practice, before her role as Deputy Industrial Commissioner (1967-1968) and then as Assistant Attorney General for Iowa, where she led the Civil Rights Section (1969-1976). Roxanne Conlin has built a distinguished legal career representing victims of discrimination, medical malpractice, civil litigation and more, including notable cases against major corporations and civil rights violations. Roxanne wrote the first law protecting the privacy of rape victims and managed its passage in February 1972, and founded Roxanne Conlin & Associates, P.C., in Des Moines.She advocated for racial justice and empowerment through her affiliations with various Black organizations throughout her career, such as: the Des Moines Coalition for Civil Rights: Conlin has actively worked alongside the Black community in Des Moines AND the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women: where she advocated for policies that supported women and racially marginalized communities in Iowa, making her a respected ally and advocate for the Black community in Iowa and beyond. He served as an International Engineering Manager at Electronic Signature Analysis Technologies with Xerox for 30 years, in the US, South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia, innovating strategic technologies to enhance component reusability. He returned to the Caribbean in 2000 as ICT director for OECS [Organization of eastern Caribbean States] under the leadership of the then Prime Minister of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique, Dr. Keith C. Mitchell. Mr. B resides in Saint George's, Grenada.He is a world-renowned Classical/Jazz guitar/Arranger/Composer, celebrated for his unique fusion of tropical rhythms and jazz structures and performed as a backup guitarist for visiting artists while he was active in New York City and had a significant performance history during the 1980s and 1990s. Although classically trained, Jazz became the main thrust.
