From initial cultural shocks—like Poland's dark winter days—to adapting leadership styles for diverse teams, Christian's experiences highlight the challenges and rewards of working in a global environment.Discover insights into recruitment and onboarding practices, differences in employee loyalty, and the significance of situational leadership when managing teams with diverse cultural backgrounds. Christian also offers a comparative perspective on employee benefits and workplace dynamics, emphasizing Poland's advantages in healthcare and safety.Whether you're an expat, a GBS professional, or simply intrigued by cultural diversity in the workplace, this episode offers valuable takeaways about fostering collaboration, adaptability, and innovation in a multicultural setting. Tune in to hear Christian's reflections, challenges, and advice on thriving in the ever-evolving GBS world. Key points of the talk:Cultural differences significantly impact management styles, with Latin America favoring a more directive approach and Europe leaning towards a democratic style.Recruitment processes in Poland are more challenging due to the specific skill sets and languages required, compared to the larger pool of candidates available in Mexico.Polish employees typically prefer a clear separation between work and personal life, whereas in Mexico, after-hours gatherings with colleagues are more common and help foster professional relationships. //The Wire//1600Z March 28, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: STABBING ATTACK IN ILLINOIS KILLS FOUR. CENTRAL PLANNING OF FOOD SUPPLY CONTINUES.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Russia: Following the Moscow terror attack, Russia has begun the mass deportation of migrants.-HomeFront-Illinois: A stabbing attack in Rockford leaves 4 dead and 7 wounded. The attack occurred during what is described as a home invasion attempt. The suspect has been identified as Christian Soto, who was arrested shortly after the attack.Kentucky: A large fire broke out at a fueling depot in Bowling Green yesterday. The Comfuel site on Raven Avenue adjacent to Route 68 caught fire, prompting local evacuations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Texas: Following the passing of the thousand-page, trillion-dollar spending bill, citizens are becoming aware of what was contained in the bill. One such measure recently identified is the provision for the tracking of all beef cattle in the United States. A $15 million provision was made for implementing the electronic tracking infrastructure.Texas: Yesterday Gov. Abbott signed Executive Order GA-44, mandating the restriction of certain speech on college campuses. AC: As with all executive actions resulting in the restriction of any form of speech whatsoever, reading the EO in its entirety (especially the statutes and legal definitions cited therein) is strongly recommended.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: For many years, beef cattle in the United States have already been tracked in many different ways. From the old techniques of branding, to the implementation of modern RFID ear tags, the cattle industry in the United States is already highly documented. This is to ensure everything from disease control to ownership rights are all recorded and tracked. The implementation of a federal system is almost certainly intended to centralize control of the beef industry, and has already immediately resulted in governments ordering farmers to reduce cattle stock in Europe. As many are aware via the overwhelming farmer protests in Europe, the crackdown on food production under the guise of the climate agenda is but a flimsy excuse to reduce alternative access to food supply. Throughout the history of man, the centralization of a society's food supply has led to only one outcome. However, due to the overwhelming pushback from the entire cattle industry, combined with the unique diplomatic atmospherics in Texas (where the majority of cattle is raised) it is unclear as to if the federal government will be able to enforce such a law for now.Analyst: S2A1//END REPORT//

In episode 20, MTT Coach Gareth James and Mental Game Trainer Dr. Tricia Cardner open the show by discussing the recent runs Gareth has been having in the WCOOP & Powerfest. While he had a couple of deep runs, a big score was not forthcoming – this time! Tricia is still hard at work in the Primer class that Matt Berkey, Christian Soto and Jordan Young from Solve For Why Academy are currently teaching. This class is an in-depth look at range based poker & it requires a fair amount of study! This week we covered a lot of GTO concepts. If you’d like to join her in going back to school, Gareth is offering a 20% discount on his classes and lessons at www.MTTpokerschool.com – just use the discount code: back2school when you check-out. The code is good through the end of the month (September 2017).After that, we launched into the show with Tricia answering a compelling question sent in by Keith who asks why common sense is not so common among poker players. A long discussion about the many factors that impede our ability to think rationally ensued. Tricia explained that rational thought is actually quite difficult to attain thanks to a number of cognitive biases that we all exhibit. A main reason for this is that we form our beliefs first and then seek out evidence to support them instead of going about it in the opposite direction. Gareth also shared some of his experiences as a qualified teacher and explained how there are also many different learning styles that contribute to exceptional learning. If you want to be a more rational thinker, you’ve got to train yourself to think in a scientific manner. We covered the knowledge illusion, confirmation bias, and how we are all much more adept at seeing irrationality in others than in our own selves. All in all, if you would like to improve your reasoning at poker, it is a good exercise to take the time to write out your complete strategy. By doing this, you’ll likely see areas where you are not as clear and logical as you would like to be. Want us to answer your poker question? By popular request, poker mastermind Christian Soto is back on the podcast this week going over hand histories. First he discusses the infamous $20,000 pot he played on Live at the Bike versus Hashtag King. How did he handle this maniac and get stacks in as a 75% favorite? Then Soto goes street-by-street, action-by-action, picking apart a live $1/$2 hand host Zac Shaw played, where all involved take questionable lines. Get your hand history fill from one of the best hand breakdown artists out there on this wee's Official Red Chip Poker Podcast.
Range advantage is a key concept in poker strategy, and two of the game's great thinkers introduce the idea to our listeners on this week's podcast. Christian Soto and Doug Hull -- both Red Chip Poker founders, authors, coaches and pro players -- talk about range advantage in a way that should be accessible for any level of player. Understanding who has range advantage and what that means is a modern poker must in terms of skills you need under your belt. Listen to Soto and Hull use hand examples to illustrate range advantage for players eager to know more on the subject.
Knowing how to play with 30BB or less is crucial for winning tournaments. You might not find yourself in this spot all that often in cash games, but you will commonly find yourself short-stacked on your journey to the final table. On this week's podcast, accomplished tournament player and coach Jordan Young sits down with Christian Soto to discuss playing with 30BB or less in MTTs.
Matt Berkey has amassed millions in tournament winnings. He plays high stakes cash so competitively, some games stopped inviting him. We're lucky to speak with him this week about his training method and style of play. Like Red Chip Poker co-founder Christian Soto, with whom he closely collaborates, Berkey is a fan of challenging conventional poker wisdom, and exploiting entire populations of players by getting inside their heads.
Christian Soto joins us for a lively, wide-ranging discussion of how deviating from conventional poker wisdom can be a source of uncommon profit at any stake. Soto explains the strategy he's going to expound on in a webinar called “I'll Name This Strategy Later”. Soto discusses the mindset necessary to be a top-percentile winner, by understanding the state of the game and where other players lie within it.
Christian Soto is a professional poker player from New Jersey. He got his start in live, low-stakes, cash games, but now focuses on $5/$10+ cash games and mid-stakes live MTTs. Feeling that the slow grind of cash games wouldn't allow him to achieve his goals fast enough, he embraced variance and Jumped into MTTs for the shot to get a big score early to boost his bankroll. It worked out, as after getting his feet wet in New Jersey online MTTs he final tabled 2 of the first 4 $1,000+ live tournaments he played. Christian is a Co-founder of Red Chip Poker, a site designed to provide low-stakes live cash game players a friendly environment to improve their game. He's also a coach for the Solve for Why Academy, who run boot camps for players looking to quickly improve their game. In this episode you'll learn: How brain training compares to physical exercise when it comes to improving mental performance Why Christian chose variance over stability when deciding to focus more on MTTs Why self-knowledge and understanding your bias is one of the most important factors of the mental game What it means to be a “Paper Champion” poker player How being excited and passionate can help take your game to the next level
