I want to start by apologizing for the audio issues on my end. I got confused thinking my mic was getting picked up. I didn't fix it until way later. Thankfully my guests Mink the Satyr and Dannylion did a WHOLE LOT of talking as they discussed their time at CT Con last weekend. In addition, we touch upon the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. There's really not much else to say so I'll let Mink and Dany do all the talking. The good news, is that i figured it out and now know what to do for future episodes. I was just concerned about potential echo in my voice/doubling up :O. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cosplaybytes/message

This week we are talking to Xander Litt (and good friend of the pod Ravyn) about his new company Tetsu pro wrestling and their inaugural show on 8/13 as part of Bikers Against Animal Cruelty. We also talk about his other company Cosplay Championship Wrestling fresh off their second year at ConnectiCon. This was a very fun conversation and we can't wait to have them back for part 2! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/helluvamarkpod/message
If you went to ConnectiCon in 2014, then you probably remember a little show called Agents Of C.A.T.A.P.U.L.T that was an informative show for the convention to announce guests, events, panels and everything big happening, while throwing in some antics caused by the agents themselves! This week, I brought (almost)the entire cast back together to talk about the show, predictions for where characters are now and how Marvel is just waiting to sue us.
What was going to be a crowded show ended up being a really lovely conversation with Midge Scully and HyperChai! Particularly, this is the second part of my PAX East 2022 coverage (apologies for the wait!). I got to spend time with the two of them at the con and we talked about all the things we each did during that weekend. From all the game previews I had to the ones that Midge and HyperChai tried out. They also talked about their shopping spree (as one does of course!), attending the Undertale concert Thursday night along with cosplays! Also included were chats about FF14, Stray and realizing we're all going to be at the upcoming Final Fantasy 35th concert in November XD. The couple also got to attend ConnectiCon and despite the multiple changes that con has gone through over the years, they had a great time. Mentioning the con's signature Deathmatch event where cosplays are pit against each other and won through audience cheers. Spoiler: The L Block from Tetris emerged victorious! If I'm not mistaken, I believe ConnectiCon is the current record holder for "That convention that we've had the pleasure of covering the most times as a media outlet". This year's show makes it the SEVENTH consecutive time we've made the trip down to Hartford and after all the great times we've had in the past, it has some big shoes to fill. Joining us for this year's recap is a longtime friend of the show and multi-time guest host Jess! Seeing as she's and she's been to almost every version of ConnectiCon that has existed, we figured this would be the perfect opportunity to take full advantage of Jess' knowledge and expertise. Plus, her and her friends put together a baller cosplay group: So check out this week's jam as we desperately try to recap everything we saw, played, and experienced during one of the most exhausting 10+ hour days of the year. Will year 7 live up to the hype of previous festivities? Was the back breaking 10 minute trip to Hartford really worth it?? Tune in and find out! Enjoy! -Jr.
Leah Rantz and Jared Mapel talk about Connecticon 2019 as well as a survival guide to going to your first convention.

Tonight on GeekNights, we review the entire upcoming Summer 2019 anime season... before we watch any of it. We've been doing this for a while as a youtube show! In the news, New York had another march through the canyon of heroes, Otomo has a new movie on the way, Akira is getting a 4k remaster, Promare is coming, Crunchyroll is partially joining HBO Max, and ConnectiCon is this weekend!Since Evangelion is available on Netflix, recall that we have previously reviewed Evangelion, and also done a deep "final thoughts" show on it! It's getting more and more difficult to come up with new ways of saying "our guest this week is a super talented artist and Alex and I are envious of them and their ability to create art, so we asked them to come and chat with us on our podcast". So far I have been able to manage, but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel if you hadn't already noticed. So anyway, our guest this week is a super talented cosplayer/designer who specializes in 3D modeling and prop making. He goes by the handle "Rocket Props" and in just a few days he's going to be taking the stage as a panelist at this year's ConnectiCon! After successful panels at previous PAX East and ConnectiCon events, Rocket is headed back to Hartford alongside and to present their panel: Tune in for some cosplay and design talk as well as come pre-ConnectiCon hype as we gear up for another year of anime, videogames, tabletop, and so much more. Be sure to follow Rocket on all his and if you're in the Hartford area this coming weekend for the show you should consider checking out his panel! Enjoy! -Jr.

If you're into extremely long episodes featuring multiple guests having a great time talking about a local convention in Hartford, Connecticut boy howdy do we have a treat for you. The last few weeks have been full of ConnectiCon chatter as we had some amazing opportunities to chat with and . Now it's time to review. Joining us for our recap extravaganza are our good friends Vicky (of ) and niece Megan in what could be considered the greatest team-up in the history of podcasting. Tune in for stories, thoughts, reflections and most importantly: Arbitrary Letter Grades (Note: Megan gave the show an A-/B+ but we were dumb and forgot to ask during her segment). There's a ton to get to so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. Huge thanks to Vicky and Megan for giving us many hours of their time and as always a shout-out to the folks at ConnectiCon for giving us yet another opportunity to check out their show. Enjoy! -Jr.
WGF was at Connecticon, in Hartford, CT, to check out the Connecticut Festival of Indie Games.
Previous guests of the show Matt Daigle (ConnectiCon) and Jason Miceli (CT Festival of Indie Games) talked up their events, and I just had to see them for myself. My first Con did not disappoint. Lots of great cosplay, vendors, and panels - a definite recommendation if you are into this type of entertainment. I was only able to be there for a few hours, but managed to snag a few interviews with some of the creators. Festive Ninja, Pair of Jacks Games, Yards the Game of Inches, Operation Hammond, Wyrmwood, and a chat about Manos: Hands of Fate are all included here. #connecticon #ctfig #games #cosplay #gamedev #wyrmwood #tabletoprpg #criticalrole #magicthegathering #manos #rpgmaker
To say we had a productive ConnectiCon would be putting it lightly. After day one we immediately went back to the studio to chat with game designer Jake Given in what turned into . After day two we had maybe a 2 hour break once we left to get ready for another sit down only this time it was with artist and freelance illustrator . Similar to Jake and Lay Waste Games, Christopher had a table showcasing his arts and talents at this year's ConnectiCon. A veteran of over 100 different conventions, Christopher is no stranger to the con life and even uploads in-depth vlogs on his channel chronicling his thoughts and experiences throughout each unique show. It's a really neat look into the world of an artist from the other side of the table and we're a bit excited to see what he puts out for ConnectiCon. Of course, in addition to his video content, Christopher is also a hella talented artist with some absolutely brilliant perspective pieces and character collages. For example: have you ever met anyone who has made a print featuring every single Pokemon that has ever existed? Or how about every Rick and Morty character on one page? Well it's been done and it was done by Christopher. Peep at his or click the links above for more of his work and check the listing of your local convention for his name. The man has embraced the con life and there's a good chance he'll be popping into a show near you. In the mean time, check out our talk with Chris and learn a thing or two about amazing perspectives and Pokemon. -Jr.

Day one of ConnectiCon 2018 has come and gone in what felt like a blur of vendors, cosplayers, and food trucks. I'm sure we'll have plenty to say about it soon but for now we need to prepare for day two. Despite only having a few hours to enjoy the show yesterday it was a great opportunity to get my bearings and get a feel for the venue. Now today is going to be all about checking out the vendors, spending the money, and playing the games. Speaking of games: We have a nice treat for you and it's just about as hot-off-the-presses as pre-recorded media can be. Jake Given, co-founder and game designer of Lay Waste Games, is showing their latest creation in the tabletop demo area of ConnectiCon and we had the opportunity to chat with him once the doors closed for the day. Keen listeners may recall we've talked about Lay Waste's games at length in our previous two PAX East recaps with Dragoon being a show-stealer two years ago and Human Era catching our attention this past spring. You can check out their website or if you're super quick you can get down to ConnectiCon either today or tomorrow and meet Jake and his new game in person! Enjoy this week's episode and be on the lookout for our wrap-up in the near future. Until then, I have a lot of irresponsible financial decisions to make at ConnectiCon day 2! -Jr.
Seeing as our annual trip to ConnectiCon is but 5 days away we figured it would be a good time to hype up the show a bit. This is your classic "two birds, one stone" situation here because yeah, we're trying to hype it up for you, the humble listener. But we're also trying to hype it up for ourselves. Seeing as our favorite pals from Super Art Fight won't be in attendance this year; we're going to have to put on our big-boy pants and find other things to entertain us. Like games. Or food trucks. or a combination of the two. We'll make due. In addition to some ConnectiCon hype we thought it would be neat to play a little game of "Where are they now?" in regard to guests of OMV past. It's been quite some time since we've had the pleasure of chatting with a few of our guests so we did some internet searching to find out what they've been up to...and the results might shock you! I hate myself for writing that. Enjoy! -Jr.
Matt Daigle, creator and president of ConnectiCon, talks about the 2018 event which takes place July 12-15, 2018, in Hartford. This is the 16th year for ConnectiCon, the longest running pop culture con in the state. The weekend includes panels and signings with creators from several different areas, CosPlay contests, video games, and much more. For tickets and information about the event, visit www.connecticon.org.
We gotta hand it to the fine folks over at . We've been bothering various members of their troupe to come on our show for something like 4 years now and every time we've come knocking they've always been willing to chat with us. This time was no exception. joined us this week and like all the other members of the Art Fight crew he is a person of many talents. Specifically, he's the creator of "" webcomic and he also represents one-half of the hosting responsibilities for the live Art Fight bouts. With over 800 individual comics to his name and an encyclopedic knowledge of obscure cultural references we're starting to think that, despite what the t-shirts say, Ross might not suck all that much. Plus the dude can take a hell of a chop from a professional wrestler. (See: ConnectiCon 2017) For those heading to PAX East in a few weeks you'll have a great opportunity to meet Ross and some other members of the Art Fight roster as they're making their PAX debut on Friday night. If you can't make it out to Boston don't fret: they also have a going at this very moment so you can bring the Art Fight competition into your own home. It may not be quite as Sexyful as the real thing but it will be a good substitute to hold you over until you can make it out to a live show. Enjoy! -Jr.
Our guest this week goes by the name of and let me tell you what Savage's deal is: He makes rad cosplay. We first met Savage last year at our favorite backyard convention: . We were all completely blown away by his and after seeing Savage pop up in photo albums and cosplay videos across the internet it was clear we weren't the only ones. Fast forward a few months to Katsucon 2018 and look who pops up in the video. Seeing Savage's updated version of his Metapod design was the last straw: we needed to talk to him and get our learn on. Luckily for us he was more than willing to give us a call and join us on the show to talk about cosplay, conventions, and magnets. Yes, magnets. Enjoy! -Jr.

We're back after a false start on Wednesday - luckily, Rem's internet didn't go down this time! Rem went to ConnectiCon and Jules went to Nerdtacular, and we both have lots of stories about people we met and places we saw. Tell Us One Thing, an update from a previous letter, feedback from you, and we answer a question about the challenges of losing interest in things after being asked to step up in a more prominent role, and the power of saying "no" when it's right. Be a part of the show by sending your requests for advice, discussion topics, and feedback to questions@taurenthinktank.com. Slash Moo, everybody!

Sims was away at Comic-Con this week, but we’re still doing a big old show with Chris Haley of the Gravity Falls Gossiper podcast and Let’s Be Friends Again! He and Matt tear down the format of the show to have a freewheelin’ conversation about impressions, Bill Hader, wrestling (more than you would ever think), art in comics, whether box office should matter for movie fans, game shows, comic convention crowds, and a lot more! Not discussed (at length): Connecticon and Van Halen, even though we say we’re getting to those. Plus, Sims does check in from the con!
Things get loopy, as they eventually do, on the show this week when we discuss our adventure at Connecticon 2013! We had a cool interview, along with some good laughs. Not to mention all the board gaming that went down!
The Bonus Pretzel Crew was at ConnectiCon 2013, and so was Pwnee Studios, who were showing off their upcoming game, Cloudberry Kingdom. Naturally, we had a quick chat with them about the game and it's development process. Forgive the lack of quality due to the cell phone microphone and Rock Band playing in the background.
