It was in his father's jazz band that Rich first gained invaluable experience, and he turned pro at age 16 by joining the Trenton Musicians Union Local #62. His dad's influence soon gave way to a love of rock & roll and he never looked back. Along the way he attended New York City's premier drum school Drummers Collective. Hungry for all the knowledge he could get, he focused intense study with session great Bernard Purdie and Saturday Night Livedrummer Shawn Pelton. By the 2000's Rich had become an in-demand player both live and in the studio; appearing on TV shows and movie soundtracks including Dog The Bounty Hunter and One Tree Hill, in addition to the Jennifer Hudson and Amy Adams movie Lullaby. Since 2011 Rich has been the drummer for Jon Bon Jovi & The Kings of Suburbia. I chatted with Andrés, Alex Giosa, Juan Felipe Mayorga, Dena Tauriello, and Ryan McCausland about the behind-the-scenes experience and challenges of being a sub on such a challenging show.In this video, Juan Felipe Mayorga talks about how he met Andres Forero and got the opportunity to sub on Hamilton. Juan, originally from Colombia, admired a jazz pianist named Hector Martino back in college. After moving to New York and studying at Drummers Collective, he connected with Hector, who introduced him to Andres. A casual meetup during an audition led Andres to invite Juan to watch Hamilton from the pit, eventually giving him the chance to sub for the show.Make sure to subscribe to our channel and check out more interviews like this on Broadway Drumming 101! Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
This week's guest is Adolfo Torres. Adolfo's musical journey started in Cali, Colombia, and from a young age, his passion for music was evident, leading his parents to enroll him in drum lessons. This early start paved the way for his education at the Drummers Collective in NYC and later at Berklee College of Music on an American Tour Scholarship. After his studies, Adolfo moved to Austin, TX, playing with artists like JT Coldfire and Jennifer B and the Groove Kings, where he learned about the life of a working musician. In 2013, he returned to Colombia, forming the band M.I.J.O, which blends Classic, Modern, and Progressive Rock. All that being said, I've been a big fan of his for a long time and go check out a few of his videos before you listen to our chat. It will set the stage for a lot of what we talk about. I hope you enjoy the five records that shaped Adolfo Torres into the musician he is today. Cheers! Her life was fairly normal until she got into a car accident that triggered fibromyalgia at the age of 18 and had to deal with that very painful chronic condition along with many other life challenges including loss of both parents, marriage, divorce, suicide thoughts/attempt, alcohol/prescription drug abuse/addiction and a full hysterectomy by the time she was 35. Alysha's strong spiritual connection and tenacity is what helped her through some very dark days. However, it's actually thanks to those days that allowed her to connect to her superpower that she calls her “Spiritual Spidey Sense”. She now shares her new concept hosting “That's Myrony” Podcast along with her spiritual coaching business “My Myrony” Mentoring where she uses her psychic gift of “knowing” also known as claircognizance to help her clients through Intuitive “Soul Sessions” with her unique one of a kind modality, “The Myrony Method” A Key to Unlock Our Soul's Blocks Program which helps release at a soul level what they need to move forward and create the life they truly desire all with a little myrony! So if you are feeling overwhelmed or stuck & would like to...

"I was nervous and the sound check didn't go all that well. But once we all walked out on stage, everything just kind of fell into place." Leasure played 50 shows with Winter in 2005 & 2006. Michael has worked with Guitar Phenom Philip Sayce for the past six years and is currently touring the world this summer with Blues/Rock legend, Walter Trout.

“I need things like skateboarding, or surfing, or art, or like you, building to just balance myself out.” Try Drumeo Edge for free for 7 days Brandon Scott is an online drum educator through his very popular YouTube channel. Most of the content he produced was while he lived in Cape Town, South Africa. Recently, however, he made the move back to the USA with his wife. With a growing YouTube channel, a huge uproot, and sorting out his next moves, this was a great time to sit down and chat about what is going on with him. You Will Hear About…. What makes something good and letting go of certain things during the creative process? His experience recording 400 minutes of content at the Drummers Collective. Is Brandon getting bored of what most drumming content consists of? The big uproot that Brandon and his wife are currently going through. Some thoughts about Covid. The fine line between overdoing the drumming thing and not doing it enough. What is Brandon's ultimate goal with his YouTube channel? Self-esteem and imposter syndrome. Some opinions regarding social media. The importance of having a connection with nature. Why Should You Listen? Because this is nearly the end of this podcast I felt inclined to discuss some stuff that isn't talked about much but I feel is thought about often. I get the sense that there is a lot not discussed so that people's brands aren't put into jeopardy but because I have cancelled myself, I figured I would venture into some of that territory. You might like this just because of the nature of the conversation and how uncomfortable most of this stuff is to talk about. Rich has played/toured/and or recorded with legendary artist Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Jon Bon Jovi, Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem), Adam Duritz (Counting Crows), Joe Elliot (Def Leopard), Neal Schon (Journey), Michael Anthony (Van Halen), Gene Cornish (The Rascals), and Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf), to name a few. In September 2013 Rich performed with Bon Jovi on the band's South American leg of its ‘Because We Can' tour, the highest grossing world tour of 2013. Rich began drumming at age 9 under the direction of his father, Joe, a band leader and Juilliard graduate. It was in his father's jazz band that Rich first gained value experience, and he turned pro at age 16 by joining the Trenton Musicians Union Local #62. His dad's influence soon gave way to a love of Rock & Roll and he never looked back. Along the way he attended New York City's premier drum school Drummers Collective. Hungry for all the knowledge he could get, he focused intense study with session great Bernard Purdie and Saturday Night Live drummer Shawn Pelton. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/accordingtotheautistickid/message
Billy Martin (also known as illy B) is many things. He’s a visual artist, a filmmaker, a teacher, a builder, a composer, a record producer... But if you know his name, chances are it’s from his band Medeski, Martin and Wood, a project he’s had for 30 years now along with bassist Chris Wood and keyboardist John Medeski. Billy refers to his artistic approach as playful and he is committed to the idea of play and experimentation in art. He is also totally serious about what he does, he’s a serious thinker, and he takes enormous care with what he does and how he does it. He might be playing, but he’s not messing around. A lifelong student, his path has been somewhat self directed. He spent his formative musical years taking lessons at the Drummers Collective in New York, where he came in contact with a group of musicians who would shape his music and his career, and got what he calls “the inside stuff”. Notably, he refers to drummer and composer Bob Moses as one of his primary mentors. He made a documentary film 10 years ago with another one of his early teachers, Allen Herman. That movie, Life On Drums, is a series of discussions between Billy and Allen intercut with solo drum performances by both of them. We spoke recently about how field recordings influenced him, the power of sincerity in music and in life, the importance of staying curious and being playful, what he calls the “world music view”, how “when you’re experimenting there is no such thing as perfection,” the similarities between music and visual art, why Instagram is such a useful tool for self expression, and much more.
