We've finally reached the end of our Wind Waker journey. We explore the rest of the islands, find all the triforce pieces, and defeat Ganondorf, but this time his motives seem much more relatable than normal. Also one of us keeps discovering things that would have made their game much easier.ko-fi.com/ironbootsdeepdiveSend us an email at ironbootsdeepdive@gmail.comTwitter - @IronBootsDiveCredit: Marble Pawns - Music
We return to 3rd part of our Wind Waker series. We get into spirited discussions about Zelda not being as cool as Tetra, why did Zoras evolve into birds, and why the Earth Temple and Wind Temple naming conventions don't make any sense.ko-fi.com/ironbootsdeepdiveSend us an email at ironbootsdeepdive@gmail.comTwitter - @IronBootsDiveCredit: Marble Pawns - Music
We continue our adventure across The Great Sea. We sail the cursed sea, get a bunch of bombs way sooner than we realize, and debate whether the Tower of the Gods is an Island or a Buoy.ko-fi.com/ironbootsdeepdiveSend us an email at ironbootsdeepdive@gmail.comTwitter - @IronBootsDiveCredit: Marble Pawns - Music
Time for our biggest dive yet! You know, because of all the water! Right?! Guys?!We dive into Wind Waker and talk about all the fun sailing, Tetra who is definitely only a pirate captain and nobody else, and the differences between the GameCube and Wii U HD release. When will Nintendo finally port this to the Switch or maybe more likely the Switch 2 (whatever they end up calling that)?ko-fi.com/ironbootsdeepdiveSend us an email at ironbootsdeepdive@gmail.comTwitter - @IronBootsDiveCredit: Marble Pawns - Music

When Wind Waker was originally announced during Space World 2001, fans revolted. With one trailer, Nintendo reversed course on the "adult gamer" trend and planted their flag as the maverick company unafraid to buck tradition. Twenty years later, it's a beloved game.On this episode of A Gamer Looks at 40, we explore the memories and recollections of the people who loved this game then just as much as they do now and see if we can discover how Wind Waker rose from the waves to become a true classic.Starring (all handles from Twitter unless otherwise noted)Allen PetrozziAndrew CraigDan of @retrologicgamesJodi aka @BakuielJustin of Killer Quail Studio (@KQSKillerQuail)Lord Reverend D (@knightfall247) of Rulebooks Anonymous PodcastRyan aka @gameswithcoffeeSeth Sturgill (@twodollarhero) from @allnpodcastSong CoversThe Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker Medley | Fingerstyle Guitar Cover by Casper Esmann - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA7NY1Nv_JgMy Discord: https://discord.com/invite/SdaE4atGjCMy Twitter: @agamerlooksat40My Facebook: facebook.com/agamerlooksat40My Insta: @agamerlooksat40My Patreon: patreon.com/agamerlooksat40My Email: agamerlooksat40@gmail.comMy Phone Number: Ehhhhh, not gonna happen. :-DSupport the show
Welcome back! It is a new Tuesday, which means tonight there will be a new episode of Spot Dodge: A Live Nintendo Podcast exclusively on Destructoid. Topics: Tonight, we're discussing the rumors surrounding Zelda Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker finally making it to Nintendo Switch. Aside from that, we speculate more on Breath of the Wild 2 and if the Zelda IP is about to make a big splash on Switch in the next year. Jeff Grubb recently stated on his Nintendo podcast a source of his told him Nintendo is planning a Direct during the week of Sep 12. He also mentioned the very high likelihood of Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess being announced for Nintendo Switch during the showcase. I think these ports are long overdue and I'd love to play these on Switch leading up to the highly anticipated Breath of the Wild 2. If these rumors are to be believed, we're about to have a bevy of new Zelda titles on Switch! #Zelda #BOTW2 #WindWaker

In this episode of the Warp World Podcast, GrandPOOBear and Jaku talk about Yo! Noid, Jaku’s new speed game, and speedrunning in general. After running the game for a couple weeks, Jaku found a glitch that would save minutes over the previous record. This, and a new glitch that was found in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, prompted a discussion about whether or not there are any “unbeatable” records. If these glitches found in decades old games are any indication, a game that is considered maxed out may still be able to be beaten a little faster. Barrier skip in Zelda: Wind Waker was one of the most sought after glitches for years and it’s finally been found. Once thought to be an unfindable glitch, it begs the question, what other “unfindable” glitches have yet to be found? In this week’s Hot Take, Poo and Jaku talk about whether Western developers should be taking over long time Eastern games and use the success of last week’s Sonic Mania as a basis for the discussion. To end the show, Poo and Jaku answer some listener questions! You can submit any questions you have to podcast@warp.world for the Ask the Broadcasters segment!

Fifteen years ago, the Nintendo GameCube arrived on the scene, giving us classics like Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Smash Bros. Melee, a host of Mario-themed sports titles, along with some decent third-party games like Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil 4. Where does it rank in video game history? Listen to our thoughts as we wax more nostalgia on this retrospective. Ep S6E18
The Tangent - 93: In The Pants, On The Floor Every once in a while there is an episode that gets a little out of hand. This is probably on of them. Brian is first and he starts with Dishonored 2. Chipping away, chipping away. However, he's really into Dragon Quest Builders. I mean, he does really love the game. The Zelda meets Minecraft is the new go to for the "Brian Shitter Game™" title. His smartphone now gets no love. Then, the Last Guardian is the big game of the week, and that's where Anthony Jumps in. A game that took 10 years to come out. They both have a lot to say (well, Brian mainly), but they both agree overall about what the game turned out to be. Speaking of what turned out to be, it turns out, Pokemon Moon & Sun is just taking over Anthony, Gary, and Justin's time. Mostly, because of the hand holding. It's just too much. Gary quizzes us on Dead Rising 4. How many Zombies in the game? I think God Mic has the correct answer (as always). Finishing things up is Justin. Sleeping Dogs (lie never far enough away). A game with Batman Arkham series-like fighting. Sounds like it could be good. Justin enjoys it. The Drunken News this week is definitely drunken. We've got Nintendo on Jimmy Fallon, A Sony PS4 Pro conspiracy, 50 million PS4s, Bully on iOS, and plenty more shenanigans. The Drunken Show Notes: Sony admits to plotting PlayStation’s HDR launch for three years First Switch accessories appear at EB Games Australia, system may use USB-C charging Microsoft says the wait for Crackdown 3 will be a year at most Zelda: Wind Waker 2 Was Cancelled By Nintendo Report: Dark Souls 3 Running on Switch, From Software Considering Trilogy ReRelease Sources: Nintendo Switch will have GameCube Virtual Console support Sony has sold 50 million PlayStation 4s Miyamoto on Mario Run and Wii experiments, Pokemon GO’s success, Nintendogs may work better as mobile-only Zelda: Breath of the Wild demoed on Switch for the first time on The Tonight Show Video: Shigeru Miyamoto and The Roots perform the Super Mario Bros. theme 'Bully: Anniversary Edition' Launches on iOS App Store for $6.99 Video Round-Up: PlayStation Experience 2016 Super Mario Run Requires an Internet Connection at All Times to Play Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? Horror! In this episode: It’s October! And you know what that means? That’s right, geeks...HORROR! You see,Void thinks horror is dumb and boring. Beej thinks it’s awesome. Is the Beejmeister going to be able to convince the Voidenator that horror is worth his time? Beej taught a horror literature class for English majors a few years back, and he had a wonderful experience with horror in college because all of his friends loved it. So where he’s coming is different from where some fans are coming from. A lot of horror hits on cultural and societal fears, far more than personal. We can trace the entire 20th century’s outlook based on what horror media was being produced. Rarely does horror exist on its i.e. because of its nature. If the intent is to bring people a primal realization of a cultural or societal fear so they can deal with it, that’s not a genre. What you probably think of as “horror” is technically “gothic romance” Emotional connection to events. To situations. Not characters so much. The blank-slate the characters tend to be written that way purposefully, which is why they’re archetypes. But you do have lots of writers, however, that tend to focus on people more than the “hook” of whatever horror element they are writing, which is why Stephen King and his son, Joe Hill, are so successful. It’s why The Walking Dead is so successful. The Walking Dead, for instance, is an ensemble survival drama that happens to have Zombies. Much like Battlestar Galactica is a military drama that happens to be in space, but we are horrified by the events that occur. Different kinds of horror: Physical and Psychological. Stephen King has 3 criteria: Horror, terror, gross-out We use horror as a way to achieve catharsis: We watch this stuff so we don't have to do it ourselves. Beej loves slashers and horror comedies. Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Santa’s Slay. Books like Duma Key and It by Stephen King. Heart-shaped Box by Joe Hill. Even Odd Thomas and Phantoms by Dean Koontz are good places to start. The Secret World is the best horror game out there right now (to Beej, at least) because it really grabs a lot of the worldwide horror elements and does them justice. It even grabs Eastern horror and does them well, which is hard to do in America. Other games are obvious like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Until Dawn. Rob and Ceej are back and are super excited about the announcement of the director for the new Star Wars flick. Rob hopes that they cast everyone from LOST in pivotal parts, that they get Willie Nelson and Skrillex to do the soundtrack, and Ceej just wants to see Hurley transform into Chewbacca repeatedly throughout the movie. After discussing their hopes and fears in regards to Star Wars, Rob chats about the new flick Mama (mild spoilers), and of course it wouldn't be a trip to the theater without seeing some ridiculous behavior. Rob and Ceej enjoy cutting off limbs in the new Metal Gear Solid game, Rob spends some time in The Cave, and he can't wait to head back to the island in the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
Recently I found my copy of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the gamecube, and upon booting the game up found myself standing on the beach of Windfall Island for what seemed like hours, immersed in this catchy, memorable tune.

It's the return of the traditional Games, Dammit! crew! Since Frank Cifaldi rejoins Scooter, Matt, and Jeremy in the studio and we all talk about Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC, Swarm, our musings about CES and Nintendo World, and the PSP2 (along with its "feel-y nipples"). Questions-wise, we tackle topics such as handholding in games, horseriding in Red Dead Redemption versus sailing in Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, a special boardgame from Brenda Braithwaite, M-rated sports games, and way too many voicemails about Elevator Action. Frank gives a special shoutout to the excellent video series Chrontendo, and we even conduct a live conversation with special guest/Oddcast contributor BallsRog. Enjoy!
