As hunters, we all have knowledge and skills related to different game. However, we sometimes make false assumptions that this knowledge translates directly to other game such as elk. So what does and what doesn't? On today's Blue Collar Elk Hunting Podcast, we have a lot of folks with a lot of skill sets hunting others critters as we talk about what translates and what doesn't. We have Marc Carlton of Native by Carlton Calls, Bill Ayers of Slayer Calls, the Flatlander himself, ElkBros Coach Cole Wilks… and some of the ElkBros crew together with the goal of sharing all our thoughts on the subject. In Kansas, the term "furbearers" encompasses a number of species, including badger, bobcat, beaver, gray fox, red fox, swift fox, mink, muskrat, opossum, otter, raccoon, striped skunk, and weasel. With abundant furbearer populations throughout most of Kansas, furharvesting opportunities abound. In fact, furbearers are probably one of our most under-utilized natural resources, and the benefits of their harvest are numerous. Regulated furharvesting during the legal seasons serves as the primary means of furbearer population and damage control. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is commonly called The U.P., or The Yoop, and those who live there, Yoopers. Any Michigander who lives below The Mackinac Bridge is a Troll or a Flatlander. All other tourists are Fudgies. Try not to be offended. Yooperland is a unique culture with its own deities, a place where terms of enchantment if not endearment are toll for the Big Mac. Last December, at Gulf Shores State Park, Jim gave me The Yoop for Christmas. He presented it in a mapped route – our 2021 adventure – from Alabama to Christmas, a small town on Lake Superior. Since childhood, Longfellow's Song of Hiawatha has captured my imagination. For decades, I have longed to see The Shores of Gitchee Gumee, and I would remain patient. Like all of Jim's gifts, the Upper Penninsula would take a while to unpack. The post From Mackinac to Christmas appeared first on Living In Beauty.

Remember Econoline Crush? They had a string of Canadian Radio hits in the late 90s into the 2000s, were featured on MuchMusic and Big Shiny Tunes. Well, Econoline Crush is basically one guy: Trevor Hurst. Trevor joins Bob in the basement this week and he tells his story of change and his adaptive nature. Trevor is a Psychiatric Nurse now. He just wrapped up three years of work with the Dakotas of Manitoba as the Public Health Nurse to a community of 300. Episode IV was the best Star Wars movie hands down. We hope this is the best "Transposition" episode! Lewis evokes thoughts of creativity and priority of information that aid us in exploring reality to discover Truth via the brain and the mind. "And the sceptic's conclusion that the so-called spiritual is really derived from the natural, that it is a mirage or projection or imaginary extension of the natural, is also exactly what we should expect; for, as we have seen, this is the mistake which an observer who knew only the lower medium would be bound to make in every case of Transposition. The brutal man never can by analysis find anything but lust in love; the Flatlander never can find anything but flat shapes in a picture; physiology never can find anything in thought except twitchings of the grey matter. It is no good browbeating the critic who approaches a Transposition from below. On the evidence available to him his conclusion is the only one possible."

In the Episode, Jacob Coons offers advice for all beginner hunters, but especially those brave enough to come from the Mid-West or East Coast and hike the Rocky Mountains for Bull Elk. He offers 3 online courses on Udemy.com and I've had the chance to review his course titled 12 Months to Elk. It's a fantastic learning tool and we talk in depth about its value to beginner hunters. Jacob and I have teamed up with @built4thehunt to offer a giveaway valued at $170, so you got to listen to hear the details. Below is the link to his online elk hunting course. https://www.udemy.com/twelve-months-to-elk/#reviews --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thenovicehunter/support
On this episode, Adam will be joined by Robbie Kroger for his second appearance on the show. Robbie is a man of many talents, and many of you may (and hopefully do) know him as the man behind Blood Origins, a unique, film-based storytelling concept. You can find Robbie’s BTK debut on Episode 66 where he discusses the vision for Blood Origins in depth. But on this show, Adam and Robbie talk about Robbie's first real mountain hunt. A public land hunt for aoudad in the mountains of New Mexico that occurred just a few weeks ago. This adventure was one hell of a learning experience for Robbie, as it was not only his first mountain hunt but also his first sheep hunt. So, on this episode Robbie shares the hard lessons learned and the full story of this hunt. You will not believe the finish to this sheep hunting tale! @bloodorigins
Brady is one of the coolest guys I've met. He's very positive and willing to share his mule deer knowledge. Erik and I just sit and have a chill conversation about hunting our favorite animal; the mule deer.
Join Scotty and his good friend Mike, who is a deaf ultra runner. They talk through a couple of interpreters about life, ultra running, life and racing. It's a special episode for his Flatlander friends that may not know his story.
