Most certified divers began their pursuit as an extension of their leisure activities—certified on holiday, certified out of curiosity, certified by their choosing. Don Mirra became certified as part of his military training. What began as a mission-driven task has now evolved into a meditative, blissful, serene experience. From military to recreational to technical diving, sidemount, solo diving, DPVs, homemade rum, but most importantly, taking the time to stop and smell the corals. Please enjoy.Recorded in December 2024

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Have we entered the Mirra era? If you know us, you know we're not saying that, we just wanted to say Mirra era. Andreeva fashioned a Keys-esque run to the title in the desert, beating the same four players Madison did to win the AO from the fourth round onward...in the same order! We talk about Iga, we talk about Jack, and we field some more listener questions on TBS 375 02:15 The Mirra Era 12:19 The Conchita Effect 17:01 What's up with Iga? 26:28 Jack Draper arrives 37:34 Taking a question about Larry Ellison … 46:32 Finding joy in tennis when things outside of tennis are generally terrible 51:22 If tennis were played on only one surface, which would you keep? 53:38 RHOP and other Bravo musings
On this episode of the Ball Boys we are fresh out of the desert and boy are we hoarse. We're recapping Indian Wells with a few not so surprising winners (did we actually predict this one?!) and we're calling bologna on the Indian Wells cuisine. Plus we talk about the most extra country in tennis, and of course we mean Romania. And finally we debut the BaeTP Rankings, taking into account performance on and off the court for the men's tour. Check it out and see who comes out on top.

The Mother of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram: Co-Creator of the Integral Yoga (Lexington Books, 2024) analyzes the contributions of the Mother (née Mirra Alfassa, 1878-1973) to the Integral Yoga that she and Sri Aurobindo (né Aurobindo Ghose, 1872-1950) co-created for his ashram. Scholars have ignored Mirra for Aurobindo, which prevents a full understanding of their spiritual practice. Scholars have also avoided examining work Aurobindo produced after they began their partnership in 1920 until his death in 1950, and privilege the written output in his journal Arya from 1914 to 1921. In this initial fertile period, he put forth his innovative teaching about what he called the “Supermind,” an emergent human faculty that he said would manifest a new humanity and a new earth through Mirra's body. Mirra claimed that after his death in 1956 this manifestation happened as he foretold. Mirra's work in the ashram from his death until hers in 1973 reveals important ways that she both fulfilled and changed Aurobindo's initial vision. These developments are chiefly based on her experiences of mental dissolution while her body gained a new supramental form and consciousness. Learn more about your ad choices.
