He talks about how he prepared for launch, where did he find his audience, and how he kept engagement and excitement up during the live campaign days. We discuss: [01:22]: Alex tells us about him and about where the inspiration came from for his first game “Dogs BOND”, which goal is to be a game that includes the whole family, and raises awareness about dog adoption. [05:34]: How Alex chose the dog breeds he included in the game, and how diversity is also something that he also took into consideration when creating his characters. [09:35]: While Alex looked for and found his audience, and how he partnered with animal shelters to create more conversations about the importance of adoption, as a way to promote his game and his awareness message further. [23:37]: How Alex kept being proactive during the 30 days of the campaign, and how he engaged with his audience and included their suggestions on the game. [26:45]: The main advice Alex has for first-time creators is to do the incredible amount of work there is to be done before launch, but also be prepared to jump into a live campaign knowing your campaign won’t be completely perfect. [30:09]: How to approach and help first-time backers who are not used to crowdfunding platforms. [32:59]: For Alex, the knowledge of when his project would be ready to launch depended on the dates he knew would work better for his audience and niche, and working backward starting from that point to build everything needed to be ready for launch. [36:00]: How you can get a copy of Dogs BOND! [37:11]: Alex used pre-launch emails and messages to educate the audience on the importance of early backing for the complete success of a project. And he did the prep ahead of time by having many of the live-campaign messages pre-written for when they got to their funding goals. Thanks for listening to the Board Game Marketing Podcast! Alex is the owner of LA Aerial Image. Introduction Alex was the first guest when the podcast came out about a year and a half ago. Alex was an original RC plane flyer. Then when he was older, he was able to afford this stuff. One day at the airfield, he saw some guy with a quad copter and knew he needed to have one. Then he decided that he didn't just want it to be a hobby. So he took his photography background as a hobbyist and then just got into video and just started doing video with drones. He does a whole array of different things, such as 3-D modeling for construction sites David: Do you do real estate? I tell a lot of people to start with the real estate because it's easy to get in. Everybody knows a realtor and you can get jobs fairly easy, but you can't stay in the industry. For Alex, he says, it's just not fun. In the meantime, he picked up an Amazon prime show called The Bay and he’s also been shooting for the Pop Star network for three seasons now. David: How did you land your first construction client? What did they want? My first construction job was subcontracted from another guy. They did some progress shots and 3-D modeling. Alex has done 3-D modeling for rock quarries too, so they can judge their materials and measure them. The person who subcontracted to him found Alex on Google. He needed a pilot in LA because he was getting business there but lived in Oregon. David: One thing people are asking who are interested in industries like construction, but don't know the lingo, is “How do I give a sales pitch to an engineering firm or construction or contractor?” What would be your sales pitch for 3-D models? I don’t have to do sales pitches right now; the contractor is doing them. I learned a lot of the lingo onsite because when I first went in, I didn't know either. I learned the lingo just talking to the guys onsite. For the most part you just need to explain that it will save them time and money. Construction guys are busy as hell. If you can send them an “as built”, which is a PDF that shows all the information. David: How often did they have you go out there and do a 3-D model of the whole site? It depends on where they're at in the building. In some cases it was once per week, in others cases every other week. “We’re going to do a testimony video of one of the biggest companies we work with, how they used the 3-D model, how it worked and how it saved them money. We’ve saved them tens of thousands of dollars in the long run.” David: How much are you able to charge these construction companies or engineering firms for flying every other week and doing a three D model? About $1500 bucks a flight in total is what the contractor charges. It takes Alex only about 45 minutes to do a model and then he makes $300 when most of the guys on the site made $50 or $60 an hour. David: What’s your favorite type of thing to work on: What's the most fun for you? What do you like doing the best? “I like the film stuff; I like being on set. As the drone guy, there’s lot of waiting around, which can be a little stressful, but other than that, it’s fun.” David: Do you think the Inspire 2 has helped you get those jobs? Yes, for sure. If you don’t have an Inspire 2, they’re not going to be hiring you for that job. David: What would you say you’ve learned that's new in the drone world? Are you getting better at the stuff you already know how to do, or do you feel like you've honed any specific skills? With nine years of drone flying under his belt, Alex has had more crashes in the last couple of years than ever. “I think I got complacent with my flying and I'm thinking ‘I got this.’ I think I need to get back to the basics and be a little more aware. I got a little loose.” Sometimes you might just get on autopilot and not really be thinking it through as carefully. David: When you're flying for these construction sites, do they require you to have a tight amount of insurance? You have to have insurance and a lot of times it's at least 2 million. It could be up to 5 million. They have really expensive workers' comp and they have to pay the personnel. They preach safety all day long. David: What’s changed from getting business now from when you were first doing it. Now, are you actively searching for any business or it just all comes to you? Alex says he wants to get better at looking for it. All his work lately has been “just coming to him.” He spends about $50-$100 per month on Google Click ads. And, he says, he doesn’t even get that many people from Google. Most of it is referral. “As long as you’re good at what you do, they're going to call you back or they're going to pass your number to someone else. Don’t get discouraged. You have to work actively on your business to grow it.” Alex says it isn’t about just buying a drone. You have to learn to be a good business owner, provide good customer service and create relationships. You might have to do some free jobs here and there to get the people to know your services and to know your work. Alex says, “Just start somewhere and build it.” Connect with Alex: Instagram: @laaerialimage Have a Drone Business? Want to be Interviewed for Season 3? Alex Tolan is a Reiki Master from Maryland. Growing up in a service industry located in a resort town, she was used to living a life of continuous cycle where a lot of people find themselves getting trapped. For Alex, money wasn’t an issue – yet she felt there was something more for her. Alex chose to go down this creative path, earning herself a painting degree and getting into jewelry-making as she loves working with her hands. She didn't know what it was but she knew she had to find out how to get more inner peace. By June 2019, she made the decision to begin her Reiki journey. And I am honored to witness and be a part of her growth. This episode, Catherine interviews Nicki Kenyon, Director of Powered Enterprise, Nine, who has worked in leadership positions across the travel, finance and tech industries in Australia and internationally. Catherine also interviews Alex Sloane, the Director of Customer Marketing at Facebook. Valuable Discussion Points [00:49] Did Nicki sit down and plan her career? Nicki’s career has evolved out of her own personal development, and her career, as a result, represents a combination of different cities, companies and people she has worked in and with. Her always-on approach to learning has seen Nicki move from industry to industry in an attempt to better understand that particular area. She makes informed decisions that have taken her outside of her comfort zone which has been rewarding and challenging. [03:49] How would Nicki describe her leadership style? Nicki resonates with the idea of being a democratic leader and would describe her leadership style as inclusive and respectful. Whilst she draws on her own experience, expertise and perspective, she believes a critical leadership skill is embracing and the contribution of all people and really listening to the ideas they may have. [08:41] What sparked Nicki’s decision to join her first board? As an executive at an online travel company, Nicki found herself in the boardroom with a diverse group of directors who weren't necessarily involved in the day to day running of the business like she was herself. However, they were just as passionate and committed to the success of the business and therefore they were able to add perspective to the job she was doing. Being part of this experience inspired Nicki towards a board approach with her career allowing her to leverage her skills in different ways. [12:31] What is the one thing Nicki wished she had known when she set out on her board careers? For Nicki, the accountability and the responsibility of a board directorship is not something to be taken lightly and she thinks any prospective board member should consider that carefully and not be distracted or flattered by an opportunity that presents itself. Another is the importance of fully understanding board dynamics, learning where you fit in amongst it and appreciating the value each member has. [14:57] What sort of manager and leader is Alex? How would she describe herself? Alex believes her role as a manager and as a leader is to create an environment for others to succeed. Her goal is to ensure that everyone has the best experience of their career when they're working alongside her, and to provide opportunities for people to thrive, learn, grow and succeed. [17:09] What Alex thought of taking the AICD course versus an MBA? Whilst Alex was considering undertaking her MBA, she was encouraged to take the AICD course instead as the modules within this course aligned more closely with her career experience. One of her favourite modules was the finance module which was a surprise to Alex, who is much more of a strategic, creative person by nature, however this module exposed her to new ideas and concepts that she found incredibly enriching. [18:08] What is the importance of sense and clarity of purpose for Alex? Alex strongly believes that aligning personal values to the values of the company you’re working for or with is incredibly important and leading with a clear sense of why you are there is critical. [21:29] What is the one thing Alex wished she had known when she set out on her board careers? Like Nicki, Alex agrees that responsibility and legal accountability are extremely important to understand. Being part of any board, you are surrounded by a group of very diverse thinkers and it can be difficult to navigate sometimes. Diplomacy can only bring you so far but knowing the board’s varying tenures, different backgrounds and accomplishments can alleviate this. Additionally, Alex found the AICD course extremely helpful in preparing her for this. [26:42] What kind of boost to confidence did the course give Alex and Nicki? For Alex, taking the knowledge and experience of the AICD course back to her current role gave her an increased understanding that ultimately benefited her customers. She had a better understanding of what the boardroom conversation was like, particularly around marketing, investment and all the different factors that go into it. For Nicki, it confirmed to her that she made the right decision. The course was very serious and practical, the relationships she was able to build with her cohorts were very valuable. Passing the exams gave Nicki a huge confidence boost and made her feel that she came out of the course more rounded and committed to embarking on her board career. Key Learnings Opening yourself to new learnings can guide you towards new companies, organisations and industries. Mentors are important, they can energise you, allow you bounce ideas off them and sense check yourself through another person’s perspective. Moving from an executive to a board position has less to do about age or stage of career but more about skills. People work through their careers at different paces, people have different jobs and these create a different number of experiences. A network is important, people from all over the country and from such diverse fields, can be incredibly enriching. Quotable Quotes “My career opportunities have often come about because of that always on learning trait I have, curiosity, if you like.” – Nicki Kenyon “I think the single most powerful outcome or outtake from that experience would be a genuine embracing of diversity of thinking.” – Nicki Kenyon “If a company or a CEO doesn't have a clear sense of purpose, it's harder for me and everybody else in that organisation to support the organisation's goal.” – Nicki Kenyon “I don't believe there's an age or stage that necessarily is the trigger for it being the right time for a board, because, again, there are as many different boards as there are people in their experiences.” – Nicki Kenyon “I think being in a company where my values feel aligned to the company's values has always been important and leading with a clear sense of why you're here is critical.” – Alex Sloane “I love that phrase, her success is not your failure and I think that's so important. There's plenty of glory and success and opportunity around for everybody so keeping that in mind as you help people but you also ask for help as well.” – Alex Sloane Important Resources and Links If you would like to gain knowledge in governance, and develop as a director in your industry or field, visit https://aicd.companydirectors.com.au/ If you would like to learn more about how CommBank is ensuring women are advancing their growth in business, visit https://www.commbank.com.au/women-in-focus.html. All good things must come to an end, so we’re not going to sugarcoat it… this is the final episode of This Pint Has 20 Ounces. This episode Jonathan, Nick, Mama T, and producer Alex are on the mic for one last hurrah and to reminisce about the great times they had.By the time you hear this episode, Nick will be kicking back on Vancouver Island living the island life. He breaks the news to us that he’s resigned from his position at Wild Rose which unfortunately means the end of the podcast. For this last instalment of the podcast the boys and Mama T have asked the often alluded to producer Alex to join them, and together they recall their favourite moments of the podcast. For Alex it was the day he found out Wild Rose was on board for creating the podcast, for Mama T it was all the laughs and silly questions, for Jonathan it was learning so much about people, for Nick it was a specific session of Ask Mama T, and for all four it was the great conversations, great beer, and roast beef sandwiches. In addition to sharing their favourite moments on the podcast, Nick and Mama T talk about their favourite parts of working in the hospitality industry, while Alex and Jonathan share some insights into the world of entrepreneurship. Nick also reveals that his time hosting the show and speaking to so many inspiring people who’ve started their own business has awakened an entrepreneurial spirit for himself, and he shares a few thoughts on what that might mean for him in the future. Closing out the episode we talk a bit about the history of the taproom itself, which in the absence of a fact-checker includes a story about extraterrestrials. We also give a big shout-out to original host of the podcast Josh for making This Pint Has 20 Ounces a reality, and Mama T leaves us all with one final piece of advice: Be good, and be happy.— Wild Rose Brewery: taproom | website | instagram | twitterJonathan Stoddart - Ricca Razor Sharp/Foothills Famous: website | website | linkedinAlex Hochhausen - Astronomic Audio: website | linkedin | twitter
With special guest: Alex Miller… in conversation with Bill Kable Those who fought against the Nazis in World War II were necessarily shadowy figures. It was a matter of survival. For Max Blatt who lived the latter half of his life in Australia those shadows stayed with him until the day he died. Even 20 years after his death those shadows and mysteries still shrouded his life story. But our guest today the award winning writer Alex Miller was not content to leave the story in the black hole of Nazi atrocities. For Alex and all of us these stories need to be explored and revealed if the community as a whole is to get over being so damaged by events in the not so distant past. Despite the sadness and tragedy in Max’s family this story becomes one of survival, friendship, mentoring and most of all love. Podcast (mp3)

The Roof Of The Western Hemisphere Aconcagua reaches 6,962m into the sky. Aconcagua is the tallest mountain in the Western hemisphere, and on the bucket list for many. For Alex, it was on his too. While in Argentina, he took the opportunity to head out and climb this peak. The episode includes brilliant information on permits, location, gear, and also on some smaller hikes before climbing the big one itself. Fantastic Foundations Alex bases himself in Wales where he has started his climbing career. Before that, he has been working 8 years in the outdoor industry. His experience includes being dropped off for an expedition in Svalbard - and it was this that encouraged him to organise things himself. Alex then organised his time to spend 6 months backpacking in Chile and Argentina, with the focus of reaching the highest point in the western hemisphere. Reaching The Roof Hear in this episode how Alex details getting the permit and got to the mountain. There are two routes to head to the summit: The Normal Route and The Vacas (Valley) Route. In this episode we discuss the Normal Route; it's better to have more people around when doing it solo... and the permit is cheaper! Having done smaller hikes in the region, Alex was already starting to feel acclimatised. Listen to the podcast to hear where, and find out why this came in incredibly useful! Alex spent a week hiking in the area before heading to Aconcagua, reaching 5954m as a highest point. With Aconcagua literally in sight, temptation was enough, and Alex headed the base camp. --------------- If you enjoy the show please subscribe/follow and share with a friend! Growing up, Alex Kies had no intention of ever becoming a real estate investor. As he said it himself, he was supposed to be a doctor! Instead, he chose the next best thing, and became a musician instead. At 24 years old, he uprooted his life in Missouri and settled into sunny Southern California. Here, Alex would pursue music to eventually become a regional manager for a non-profit music studio builder called Notes for Notes. While he did enjoy his work here, he found that he was beginning to reach a financial ceiling, as well as a life plateau. He wasn’t making the doctor salary he had prepared for earlier in life. On top of that, he felt that he wasn’t fulfilling his full potential in this line of work. He needed a change. He read Rich Dad Poor Dad, found BiggerPockets, and decided real estate was what he was going to pursue next. He found a real estate agent back in his hometown in Missouri who was willing to guide him through his first investment purchase. On his birthday, he made an offer on a value-add property that was accepted in 10 minutes! And that is where we meet Alex in this episode. In the coming years, Alex will continue to help his partners grow their investment portfolio, and he looks to grow his own to 250 rental units! Our takeaways from our conversation with Alex: 1) Manage optimism AND expectations. While his investing history has been, as Alex put it, “Pretty cruise control,” that goes without saying that starting out, he did have a few bumps in the road. On his first property, he expected to earn $1,200 in rental income per month and to this day, he still does not make that much. It isn’t because it’s a bad deal, $1,200 goes a long way in Missouri. It’s because Alex’s expectations were too high. As a result, the unit stayed vacant five months! And when he finally got it rented out, he only collected $900 per month. Starting out is very exciting, but the drawback is you don’t really know how your first deal will actually turn out. Afterall, you have no experience to refer to. Expect the unexpected and don’t expect too much, too soon. Keep your optimism aligned with reality. 2) Due diligence. For residential real estate, rent prices are more about what the market says they will be, and less about what a landlord says they should be. Just because a seller says their property collects strong rents, doesn’t mean that is actually the case. You have to remember they are trying to sell their property for a reason. Run the numbers, understand your market, and be quick to correct if projections need adjustment. Understand the seller’s situations, the property’s conditions, and the market’s circumstances. 3) Problem solving. When purchasing value-add real estate, you must understand that you are buying someone else’s problem. The better you can become at solving problems, the better of an investor you will become. And similar to expectations, plan for problems that you don’t know will even occur. That entails having reserves to pay to solve these problems, as well as the team to get the job(s) done. 4) While competition is good and can be healthy, there’s no point in purposefully making things difficult for yourself and putting yourself in a competitive disadvantage. Play the hand you’re dealt with and use that to your advantage. You don’t always need the same deck of cards that other people have. And a lot of times, we don’t focus enough on our own cards that we can capitalize on. For Alex, the cards in his deck that he used was that he was from the same town that he invests in and he had an agent he worked with that saw his potential early on. For others, it might be their access to capital, previous work experience, or other hidden skills. If Alex could go back and talk to his 16 year old self, he’d tell him, “Don’t go to college, major in real estate!” An unexpected benefit of real estate investing, Alex said, was the opportunity to learn about himself, develop his confidence, and take responsibility for his actions. A piece of advice Alex would tell his friends looking to get started in real estate would be to hire him as their agent… Alex recommends using Google Calendar to stay organized and do all the things you need to do every day. Alex recommends reading Long-Distance Real Estate Investing: How to Buy, Rehab, and Manage Out-of-State Rental Properties by David Greene to learn the same steps he used to buy his first investment property. 1 in every 37 people will get Parkinson's. 1 in 20 are under the age of 40. The youngest diagnosed was a 2 year old. This is NOT an old persons disease like most of us think. You don't get any symptoms until 80% of the neurones in your brain are dead..Two days after his 36th birthday, Alex Flynn sat to drink his breakfast coffee and noticed his finger was shaking involuntarily. Thinking it was a one off, he thought nothing of it. Until it happened again a few days later. Told it was probably nerve damage after a sporting accident a few years before, they felt there was little to be too concerned about, until he went to have a scan and he was told that he had Parkinson's Disease. .This raw, open, humbling chat opened my eyes. I sat and chatted to my friend who did not stop involuntarily shaking before me for the entire duration. He had no respite. There is no cure. There is little support system in place for sufferers. .Since diagnosis Alex has done the Marathon des sables - the toughest foot race on earth - 251km across the Sahara desert in searing heat - the worlds toughest ultramarathon; He decided to do a challenge which he called ‘10 MillionMetres’, I'll let him tell you about what that entailed... its insane. He competed in the Men’s Health USA Ultimate Guy Competition, reaching the final nine competitors of over 1100. Amongst these competitors were included Special Forces members as well as US Marines. That year also saw him honoured by the UK Prime Minister at the time, David Cameron..He has completed his first book that chronicles his 10 Million Meters Challenge which will be published soon. A documentary film of his adventures has also been produced for television..What is coming up for him this year is literally unreal. You wont believe it. But it will be worth it. He is desperate to raise awareness for this heartbreaking disease. .For Alex it's too late but, my god, if he felt he was able to protect anyone else from going through what he is going through, I know he would be a happy man. .I cannot tell you how incredible this human is but this chat gives you a pretty good idea ;-) .Help Alex show the world "Parkinson's isn't the end of someones life, it's the beginning of a new journey. It's about challenging perception, creating hope, and hopefully realising better treatments for me and millions of people around the world".www.alexflynn.co.ukFacebook: Alex Flynn - Keep Moving - My Fight Against Parkinson's.
Many of the challenges and issues we face in our personal lives can affect the ways in which we conduct ourselves in the business world. Alex Smith, the CEO of Muscular Dystrophy Research charity, Harrison’s Fund, has found personal success in setting numerous challenges for himself, most notably the physical and mental challenges of training for, and completing, Ironman challenges and marathons. But all the challenges are worth it. Each step forward is made with the intention of raising money and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition affecting Alex’s son, Harrison. In this very special episode, Desmond talks to Alex about the incredible physical and mental challenges Alex completes each day, and the empowering reasons why. KEY TAKEAWAYS Alex yearned to do something epic. Marathons and fun runs never appealed to him as they seemed to be events where people just turned up. Ironman events, however, are different as they force you to train wholeheartedly, because if not, then you won't make it all the way. One of the most challenging aspects of competing in the Iron Man challenge was that Alex took his son, Harrison, with him. Harrison suffers from Duchenne, and the charity is dedicated to raising money to help Harrison and other sufferers. Psychologically, there are always has to be a reason. During physical challenges, Alex is not just focussed on the moment, but also, and more importantly, the reason why he’s there. For Alex, the reason is Harrison, and the thought that he may save his son’s life is more than enough to keep him pushing through any kind of barrier. No one knows the interiors and intricacies of someone else’s life or existence. You have no idea what challenges and issues they are facing day-to-day. We should endeavour to be compassionate at all times. Compassion should be our default. Collaboration between charities can, surprisingly, be an issue. Alex began by offering open help and invitations to collaborate, but soon discovered that each charity has its own agenda, which leads to competition, much as in business. Duchenne research has come an incredibly long way. Through effort and perseverance, the first treatments for a subset of boys with Duchenne has begun to take place. Increasing awareness of Duchenne through charitable events is working. Big pharma are taking notice and trials and advances are far more ubiquitous than before. Alex’s experiences have changed him forever. His impatience has turned to patience. Misunderstanding has turned to understanding. It is often through tragedy that we come to these realisations about ourselves. Mastery comes through repetition. There is not short cut or fast-track. We need to decide on our goal and work relentlessly until we reach it. If you decide that your business must run with a team, then make sure you trust that team to do that job for you. Put the right people in place and empower them. BEST MOMENTS ‘I wanted to do something big. I wanted to do something epic’ ‘If you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you’re going to finish’ ’I did it because I want to save my son’s life, and he can’t do Ironman’ ‘I do my best never to judge someone’ ‘I want a treatment that prolongs life’ ‘What happened to me changed me in so many ways’ ’Nobody told me to give up’ ‘Repetition, repetition, repetition' ‘When you empower someone to do their job, they will fly’ VALUABLE RESOURCES More With Moreira Podcast Harrison’s Fund - https://harrisonsfund.com Harrison’s Fund Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/harrisonsfund/ Harrison’s Fund Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/HarrisonsFund/ Alex Smith LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-smith-b4209a4/?originalSubdomain=uk Harrison’s Fund Twitter - https://twitter.com/harrisonsfund?lang=en ABOUT THE HOST I don’t know how this works, but you’re here now listening (hopefully) about my exciting life, so I’m going to try and make this worth your while. I never got inspired at school, I was too busy trying to impress my peers, chasing girls, and being a fool to get inspired. I rejected school. But let me tell you something for free! That was a mistake! I spent the next 15 years in jobs I hated, with no direction, lacked purpose, and motivation for life. Yes, big words, but that was me in a box. A slave to the system! Fast forward to today, and well, I’m not sitting in my ivory tower or anything, but I love life and my career. Yeah, it’s both painful and exciting rolled and wrapped up into one giant subway, and who doesn’t love subway rite? Movies reviews and drinking stories, just what you need to get you through to the weekend. Chance watched several good movies, culminating in The Lighthouse. He also survived the Overwatch 2 announcement, mostly because he gets to keep his skins. Chamberlain and Alex both finished The Outer Worlds and agree that it was pretty good, there just needed to be more of it. For Alex that means he as already started his second play through. Chamberlain played one of the worst games of the year instead.
American Splendor scene #29 (1:31:12 to 1:37:31) — Alex Robinson of Star Wars Minute joins Josh & Dean for the final scene of the film! (Well, actually, six little “scenelets.”) It's one year later, and Harvey & Joyce sign Our Cancer Year. Harvey is declared cancer-free! They adopt Danielle, and Harvey adjusts to being a parent (of a sort). The real Harvey retires from the VA hospital, and the movie ends with a group hug. For Alex, discovering American Splendor was "like LSD in reverse.” An ode to Alex’s work, particularly Box Office Poison and the characters Jane Pekar and Irving Flavor. In the words of artist and graphic designer Paula Scher: “If you’re not in a state of play, you can’t make anything.” As creatives, the moment we take our work too seriously and lose our sense of play is the moment we hit artist’s block. The world is your playground; emotions are the jungle gym, relationships the merry-go-round, your career the swings... and humor is the cushy rubber under it all. Comedian Alex Weber is a big believer in humor and its power to transform lives. From participating in American Ninja Warrior to speaking at TEDx to being an award-winning TV host, no matter the project, Alex always incorporates humor and humility. “Humor is just an express route to being very honest about where we are, where we want to go and how we’re gonna get there.” From a young age, Alex understood the power of comedy and he used it as a way to overcome struggles, take on bigger challenges, and express himself. For Alex, humor is “an effective means for success;” one that keeps you from taking yourself or your work too seriously. In today’s episode, Chad and Alex discuss the importance of humor in our daily lives, why being unafraid of failure is key to achieving greatness, and what healthy competition has taught Alex about life. — Don’t forget, we have a new partnership with b8ta! Westmount Park Elementary has been around for 105 years. A classic exterior that is in need of an updated interior. So what do you do with 700 students when a renovation from top to bottom needs to take place…and will take 2 years to complete? It’s a challenge that has been solved by the temporary move to two different schools. How does this work and how do teachers and students feel about it? I spoke to Westmount Park teachers Stephanie Napolitano and Marie Alexiou, Vice Principal Giovanni Iammarrone as well as 3rd grade student Alex Desmettre and 5th grader Gary Croxen to get the details and their perspectives. For Alex and Gary, it’s all about their friends…but they have plans!
There's a new social media kid in town: it's called ::: a story ::: For Alex the power of a strong, personal narrative has always been at the heart of her writing and it now forms the centrepiece of her workshops. As Tom Tom Club said: 'words in papers, words in books, words on TV, words for crooks, words of comfort, words of peace, words to make the fighting cease, words to tell you what to do... words are working hard for you.' - Well, If they're not... give Alex a call...
For Alex, the truest thing he knows is that people are terrible at appreciating what they have. Alex believes this tendency had to be advantageous at some point in the evolutionary history of humanity, but is terribly misplaced in our modern society. It's not that we never feel content, but Alex sees the huge push in society to combat this feeling of unease points to our need to constantly work against the gravity of ingratitude.
Yay! You found us! This is our very first episode, so to kick things at OUTCast Podcast off, we wanted to talk about the first time that each of us felt “other.” For Brooks, our own American Idol, it was as a teenager on stage at a VFW during a singing competition, belting out “Son of a Preacher Man.” For Alex, it was something that happened in the tragic last 5 minutes of her 9th grade art class. For Will, it was as a first grade cheerleader in rural Texas. We also get into which emoji we want to represent 2019, and the queer movies that helped shape us. Season 1, Episode 5. In part 1 of a 2-part series, The Expat Cast sits down with wife-and-husband duo, Danielle Tirado Green and Alex Green Tirado. The couple moved to Germany just months after marrying. For Alex, Germany was country of residence number 5. When Danielle said she wanted to move to Europe after graduating, it was an easy thing for Alex's nomadic heart to say yes to. Their adventure kicked off with job hunting woes, language barriers, and, in Alex's case, a broken foot. Alex talks us through how they got through the tough first few months as a married couple abroad, their plans for graduate school in England, and what the future holds for the couple as they pursue a lifetime of expat adventures. This podcast was a lot of fun for me as I got to interview a terrific friend of mine. We were both firefighters in the military at the same base in Cold Lake, and we had a lot of fun times together. I'm so proud of the accomplishments he has done so far. My idea of creating this podcast is to get more people active who are still serving,(fire, police, ems, military) and it doesn't have to be "working out in the gym" For Alex, his mindset just changed and he did a complete 360! Find out how. We also talk about his passion towards MMA and our military firefighting days. It's an episode you don't want to miss. Check it out!

Today’s episode is about moving from being single to being in a relationship. I coach Alex on uncovering fears and limiting beliefs that can keep us from being in a relationship, or anything we truly want. When we desire something, and it does not manifest in our life, we have a tendency to blame ourselves, do a spiritual bypass, or mentally obsess about what we need to change and fix about ourselves to make it manifest. Often, these strategies do not work. What does work is taking a deep and honest look at why not having what we want, is actually what we want. Consciously we want something but there is a hidden fear or limiting belief, that is creating a block. For Alex, it was her fear of rejection. Not being in a relationship feels safer for her. It doesn’t matter how much she desires something, if part of her is scared to have it, it’s hard, if not impossible, to manifest it. This is very different approach than the dating advice we often hear. A relationship is not a symbolic trophy of self-love. If you are single and want to be in a relationship, ditch the apps, the dating columns, and relationship advice for a while, and do some of the things I encouraged Alex to do. Get honest about what really scares you in having what you want. *Coaches — Notice I didn’t coach Alex into making a plan to date differently, to love herself more, or to step more into her feminine. Be willing to let go of trying to find a fix-it solution for your clients. Instead, guide them to discovering what is in their way. If your intention for the new year is to connect with a tribe of like-minded people, and to feel and act more confident, joining my Inner Circle will assist you with both. The Inner Circle is a membership community, where you get access to one-on-one coaching calls, my customized, guided meditations and visualizations, and lifestyle practices. Consider/Ask Yourself: ● Are you craving a relationship but not having much luck with dating? ● Do feel conflicted about having a relationship? ● Do you judge yourself, or think something is wrong with you, because you are single? ● Is there anything in your life, which is not manifesting, but you don’t know why not? Alex's Question: Alex has reached a phase in her life where she thinks she would like to be in a relationship, but is not sure why she hasn’t drawn in a romantic partner. Alex's Key Insights and Ahas: ● She feels as if she is always pursuing dating. ● She believes she isn’t doing something correctly when it comes to dating. ● She is afraid any relationship she gets into will not be successful. ● She fears rejection. ● She knows she is a great catch but may not 100% believe it. ● She feels suffocated when she is overwhelmed by anything. ● She could be scared of herself. ● She feels with her head instead of her heart. How to Get Over It and On With It: ● She needs to write out guidelines for what she wants to feel in a relationship. ● She needs to be willing to be vulnerable, and open up her heart completely. ● She should incorporate a meditation and visualization practice into her life. ● She should drop the persona she created to keep herself safe, and let herself be truly seen. Assignments: ● Ditch the list of everything you want to attract in your life. Work instead to identify the fears that may be in your way. ● Be vulnerable. ● If there is something you want in life, but it’s not manifesting, it may be time to reach out to a coach. Life on Fire TV (Audio) – Online Business Coaching With Nick Unsworth
Since 1991 Alex Mandossian been mastering the art of communication and marketing and today he’s going to share with us how he uses Google Hangouts to get to the top of the search rankings in Google. As we take a quick tour of Alex’s one-man office, we couldn’t help but notice the mastermind pictures with Larry Kind and Mohammad Ali on the walls. Alex had reached out to highly influential thought leaders and offered to facilitate high-end masterminds for them. From there, this lead to him building relationships with billionaires, fortune 500 company heads, and other top entrepreneurs. His secret? He didn’t charge anything to organize and run the masterminds. He simply gave himself and his time in order to earn those relationships. When it comes to how Alex has achieved his success, Alex says, “Most of everything I’ve learned is through observing what works and then reverse engineering it.” Another secret of Alex’s is split testing, which is taking something such as a headline, and image, a color, or some other piece you’re using in your marketing and creating another version of it to see which version performs better. So, where do you start? When you think like Alex, you are never starting from scratch. There are always other resources, other experts, other competitors you can observe to figure out what’s working so that you don’t have to start from a blank canvas. Alex imparts a huge tip regarding testing, which is never fall in love with your idea, offer, product, etc., as that will only limit your creativity and potential. Following his own advice, Alex observed that the two biggest media players online right now are Google and YouTube, and that the one thing that connects the two are Google Hangouts. So, what Alex does is approach 5 influential thought leaders who are already successfully selling products through other channels and offers to set up Google Hangouts with them, for free. Next, we talk selling. Alex notes that most people focus on ROI (return on investment) when selling. Alex, however, focuses on the COI (cost of inaction). What are people losing by not taking action or not making changes? This is incredibly powerful for a number of reasons, but one in particular is what makes it so significant… People have not yet experienced the things they want, it’s emotionally unfamiliar to them. Whereas, people are intimately familiar with the things they already live and know, which makes that and exponentially more powerful motivator. For Alex, it all comes back to his passion which is teaching and training. Being a trainer of trainers is his mission, and he’s doing a tremendous job fulfilling on that mission. If you’d like to see Alex’s Hangout strategy in action, he’s made every hangout he’s ever done available at MarketingOnlineHangout.com and you can also grab his assessment to find out how others see you and what your marketing persona is at MarketingOnline.com! For Alex, the Internet provides a unique opportunity to spread good ideas that can help people worldwide. Having inside knowledge on how to actually do that was the catalyst for his development of the popular web page NoFap.org. Unique among sites supporting abstinence from excessive masturbation and pornography, NoFap is a secular web community. Members of the site abstain largely for self-improvement. NoFap has helped over 100,000 people develop healthier sexual habits, resulting in more fulfilling lives with improved interpersonal relationships.Alex is a devout opponent of the use of porn due to its propensity for causing sexual dysfunction as well as its detrimental effect on relationships. He is also unwilling to support the shady and unsavory aspects of this industry. Alex does believe however that the harmful effects of pornography are best dealt with in sex education classes, not through government regulation.
