So small, cozy, cute, a very special airport, that was Tegel, not BER: can the finally (nearly) finished Berlin Brandenburg measure up to the "poor but sexy" German capital? At least the cleverly named lounges have an even cleverer backdoor (and, hey, it's not a poor bus station like Schoenfeld).Bundling the unbundling: a (great) rant by Alex (Hunter, but Vukolova chimes in, and Paul got confused having two Alex on the show). Do the Adidas Lufthansa sneakers give you extra status (you can now buy them, unlike the staff limited editions that Paul bought off from an employee a few years ago, in order to pair them with the Family Mart socks he just got). Condor offers you a branded beer (another Brewdog airline brew!), but also booking your …overhead bin?? (Alex tested it, and we look at everything that could go wrong). JetBlue and the inaugural massive dog. The admirable journey out of fear of flying.Air Astana is amazing, Almaty airport not so much (the former gives you amenity kits, and slippers, in economy, for 3 hours!! The latter does not have free water in its lounge WTF).Thanks a million to Alex Vukolova for having joined us (and for having waited FOREVER to be on our podcast). You should follow Alex on LinkedIn (she posts great avgeek stuff!): http://linkedin.com/in/alexandravukolovaOn Instagram (Paul messed up her username all this time!!): https://www.instagram.com/avixalex/Give a listen to her aviation podcast, Sky Lounge: https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/sky-lounge-podcast/id1678045129And here's the Ladies Beyond Flying group she mentioned: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12451302(See, there are links in our show notes for once).Apologies for the audio quality, we had to work around a ton of glitches, and preferred recording than postponing.See you in the next one! Vinod and Geoff hope to have a new experience recorded and posted soon. Until then, we present a replay of our very popular experience with guest host Paul Papadimitriou - from the Layovers podcast. In the experience, Paul mentions a previous Seat 1A recording - that would have been experience 36. ------------ In this experience we are extremely fortunate to have an incredible guest and extend warm greetings to Paul Papadimitriou. Paul is a global keynote speaker, futurist and TV/Radio/Stage host based in London, UK. Avgeek podcast listeners will also know Paul from the Layovers podcast. We review our personal states and look back to the start of the year to our last flights. Do our realities mean that we need to fly at this point? Paul had very classy last flight – but is looking forward to flying again. Vinod's last flight was a short Canadian domestic flight. Geoff's last international flight was a short cross-border flight into the US. Vinod has had to postpone a flight to Tokyo for the Olympics. Paul had to cancel a number of flights including one to Barcelona. Paul shares his emotional attachment to Narita and looks at business travel these days in Japan. Everyone takes a moment to share their love for Narita. Geoff had to cancel plans for a Yukon and Alaska trek. It's been a while since Paul's last podcast recording – don't worry folks he's coming back soon. 2019 was the end of a golden age in travel – who knows there might be more in the future. When the pandemic started, many in the aviation industry were in denial about what could happen – and unfortunately, it lasted far longer than just the short term. Did we make a mistake by calling the infections "waves"? Should we have looked at the pandemic like a series of forest fires? Geoff comments about the internal Canadian travel bubble in its Atlantic provinces. Lockdown – it means different things to different people, but Europe will be in some form of it until March 2021. Vinod shares the experience of his in-laws first facing the virus in Taiwan, and the challenges when they returned to Canada. Each country has a level of risk they want to take with quarantine. We move back to aviation and ask when Paul realized he was passionate about aviation. Paul shares information on how he met his Layovers co-host Alex Hunter and started the podcast. Geoff shares the connection he had in his youth with planes on final approaches. Vinod shares his Asian long-haul experiences from when he was an infant. Paul looks back on growing up in Geneva, with visits to the US on those LOUD PLANES! We move back to the reality of where we are today. Quite simply fix the virus, fix the economy, fix travel. And unfortunately, even if all the avgeeks flew, we wouldn't get back to 2019 levels. We're having déjà vu in Europe – it's like it's March all over. Business travellers aren't travelling and the path to recovery looks a long way off. How will city state hub airlines manage since they don't have a domestic market? Low-cost carriers in the US and EU have a much better financial position than traditional carriers. Asia will have a different recovery. And while we are trying to recover, we'll need to make sure that we don't run short of reagents. What will happen with Tokyo's Olympics? What will happen with the need for qualifying events? How will this align with new Japanese entry requirements? What will be the order of re-opening? When will tourism travel return? What will it look like since airlines are reducing their long-range planes? What would a global framework look like? Are we going to need health visas? Is the entire world going to feel like an emerging market passport? How will recover vary between large and small countries? Are people ready to fly? Will comorbidity stop being a buzzword at some point? Will people ever learn the difference between proximal and direct causes? Repatriation – are the flights done yet? Other industries – like MICE – do events need a system to validate tests? Will we see more contactless or biometric examples at airports? What will happen to industries that are currently suffering economically? What will we do about privacy? Will distancing be baked into premium products? Maybe we can think about self-cleaning toilets? Are we simple and robust enough with UX and UI? Paul and Vinod share their experiences with Korean mobile network alerts. Sweden and COVID – it can't be taken out of context. We can't just replicate, but we can learn – and treat it like aviation does after an incident. What's going to change for aviation on the backend? We swing back to questions. What are our favourite airports? Vinod clarifies the beautiful final approaches at Vancouver. Geoff provides a quick update on LaGuardia construction. Congratulations Berlin, you're finally opening your new airport. Now for least favourite – Paul never gets the same experience twice at the so-called Hub Experts. Vinod and Geoff share an airport for least favourite. Vinod shares his love for full airport sensory experiences – complete with a squawking bird prank when he was a flight attendant. We look at changes we'll have to make. Much more planning than ever before. Will (last minute) round-the-world trips be possible? Will visa waivers and ETA programs accelerate? Paul shares his travel hacks and tips. Vinod shares the story of booking his honeymoon RTW points trip. Planning trips based on aircraft types is not going to be easy in the short term. Geoff and Vinod share aircraft bait and switch stories. Finally, we ask what our first dream flights will be. Paul shares love for a former home country. He also hates over tourism. Vinod just wants to get on a flight for as long as possible. Geoff, dreaming of an ultra-luxury experience. For those who want to listen to Paul's old episodes, you can find him at layovers.to. In this episode, Ben Moore is joined by the UK's leading business leaders and researchers in the renewable energy world. They address a mysterious subject, something that is invisible to us, works for us every second of the day and is, for most people, intangible and unknowable: it is the National Grid. And the Grid faces the biggest challenge in its history…how much can it take? Alex Hunter is Managing Director at Sherwood Power (www.sherwoodpower.co.uk), which provides energy storage solutions to industrial, commercial and governmental clients. Before leading the team at Sherwood, he held directorships in publishing, remote industrial equipment monitoring, and sub-micron filtration companies. Dr Michael Smailes is Electrical Infrastructures Research Engineer at ORE Catapult. He took his Master's degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and gained his doctorate in Offshore Renewable Engineering from IDCORE with a focus on HVDC power transformers. Ravneet Kaur is Innovation Manager at ORE Catapult with a brief to enable high-potential SMEs to enter and grow in the renewable energy sector. In this experience we look at Vinny and Geoff's separate round the world (RTW) adventures - Vinny's will already be underway when this experience is posted. We look at the world of booking an RTW with points travel, with stopover and mileage rules, but also how to maximize your layovers between stopovers. Vinny shares his geeking out with reviews and videos to ensure he maximizes his in-flight and lounge experiences. Just because you have an RTW ticket doesn't mean you can't supplement it with some separate point-to-point tickets. Make sure you catch the great story about how Vinny's wife got upgraded to Seat 1A. Geoff approached his RTW adventure from another angle – what was the most economically priced set of tickets on multiple airlines to complete the trip? Mainline flag carriers and low-cost carriers mixed together to get Geoff around the world. Knowledge of baggage limits helped Geoff pick certain flights. Geoff notes how third-party lounge accesses don't always work in all airports, and some lounge-like benefits offered at certain airports for a fee. What were the tools that both Geoff and Vinny used while booking their adventure? What are they looking forward to in the cities they are stopping in? CMB, DAD, DPS, DUS, EWR, FRA, GOT, HAN, HUI, IST, JFK, KUL, MAA, MAD, MLE, NRT, ORD, OSL, PEN, SIN, TPE, TXL, VIE, YTZ, YVR, YYZ – there is bound to be an adventure or two just waiting. Shout outs to the websites of Sam Chui, The Points Guy and One Mile at a Time. A big shout out to the Layovers podcast with Paul Papadimitriou and Alex Hunter – thanks for the inspiration! I was so happy to have my friend Alex Hunter on my show again to see whats been going on in her life. Alex wrote the incredible book..Joi Lansing; A Body To Die For.  A LOVE Story. if you have not read this book I highly recommend it. Alex has a way of making the reader feel like we are living this with her. Its greatWe talked some exciting stuff. Alex was invited by a high school to give a lecture to senior students on her book. They loved her. The school is buying six hundred books to be on their curriculum. YAY ALEX! One school down, more to go. We talked her appearances on TV and radio and I pondered if she had gone show biz on me. We discussed the recent death of Tab Hunter and the movie being made about his affair with Anthony Perkins. They would pick up dates/beards and double date but at the end of the night Tab and Tony went off their own as did their dates. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. I thought that Joi and Alex story can come at it from two women in love and closeted in the age of flower children and free love. It was NOT THAT free.  you would still be ruined if they found out someone was gay.. I asked how Joy feltt about the big change in films and the 50's and sixty bombshells were not being cast. You had Faye Dunaway, Jane Fonda etc.. She noticed and was very distressed. I asked Alex if she thought it had changed much since classic Hollywood to the fifties to today. She thinks its better but no one should be forced out of closet. She told me her recent fan shows she's been too. One was in LA and she had a blast. The other one was as Jois partner to celebrate superman. Joi played the man of steels wife. WHO KNEW!! Alex had a great time. I asked her for some juice. She provided. All of a sudden Diva Joan Cllins comes into the room by her space, where she is not pleased to see Bombshell Loni Anderson was in the booth next to her. Queen Joan would have none of that and after some choice words they took Joan away from Lana and she was the entrance not closely to anyone. Once a diva, always a diva. I really loved having Alex on. She is always fun.Plus she's my pal. Lets get her movie made!!Thanks to Alex Hunter. Modern Marketing Engine podcast hosted by Bernie Borges

Subscribe to Social Business Engine Apple Podcasts | Stitcher | Google Play Even the most seasoned technology sales professionals need to develop social selling best practices - but they can take years to develop. That's what makes conversations like this one so powerful. In this episode, Bernie Borges explores the best practices of some of SAP’s most seasoned and successful sales professionals. You'll hear social selling tips from Account Executive Alex Hunter, Gaston Edreira, Business Development Specialist of SAP Hybris, Neil Howarth, also of SAP Hybris, Digital Sales Demand Manager Georgia Rita, and Phil Lurie, VP of Sales Technology. The tips and success stories these SAP team members share demonstrate what is possible when good social selling practices are consistently applied. Be sure to listen all the way to the end to hear some of their most encouraging social selling successes. Social Selling Best Practices Depend on Quality More Than Quantity One of the most practical aspects of the conversations featured on this episode is that Bernie asked each of the participants to share their favorite social selling best practices. As they did, a constant theme that rose to the surface was the power of meaningful social engagement, not the amount of content shared on social media. Their stories illustrate how significant it can be to a future sales opportunity for a sales professional to pay attention to the real needs of those they're trying to reach and make themselves an asset. This example is one of the outstanding tips these five members of the SAP team share on this episode. Their experience along with the success they have attained demonstrates that the SAP approach to social selling is a model any B2B brand can follow. The More Relevant And The More Personal, The Better The Connection When it comes to applying the very best practices in social selling, it begins with a mindset that understands the goal is not, first of all, to secure a sales conversation with a buyer. The first level goal is much more personal than that. The SAP sales team understands that there are real people behind each transaction, individuals who have particular interests, desires, and needs. That perspective is key to being able to truly add value to the person through social by discovering those needs and making an effort to be helpful. It's that kind of genuine interest that sets the stage for the SAP salesperson to propose business solutions to the prospect down the road. The more relevant and the more personal the salesperson can be in attempts to connect with the prospects they want to meet, the more attention they can get. Learn more insights like this from these outstanding sales professionals from the SAP team, on this podcast episode. Consistency, Relevance, Value: The Trinity Of Social Selling Best Practices Much of what makes the SAP global sales team successful when it comes to social selling is their implementation of these three principles: consistency, relevance, and value. Let's look at each of those in turn. Consistently sharing great content in the social feeds of a prospect gives that person time to become familiar with the salesperson and the expertise they possess. When that content is relevant to the prospect, it demonstrates that the salesperson has taken the time to learn about them and to take an interest in the things they are concerned about. That sets the salesperson up to add valuein ways that matter to the prospect. This triune way of approaching social selling has proven to be a hallmark of the SAP team’s success. You can hear these three principles expressed over and over by the five participants in this conversation, in a variety of ways. Take the time to listen and learn. The insights shared on this episode have many anecdotes to back them up - you can learn the principles and see the proof all in one episode. Ficou melhor? Ficou pior?

After a wonderful time at the Slush Play conference in Iceland, Ste successfully made it back to the studio. Ann didn't and neither did Ste's top. Unfortunately Simon was also going through sports jet lag due to the baseball and also because of him 'be'ing Alex Hunter. Yes, it's hard to believe but a game has finally knocked Star Wars Battlefront off. Perhaps it'll be joining Simon's Wii at the bottom of the canal before too long. Our Super-Special Guest is James Long, who created a game that is Top Secret. It is based on Edward Snowden and the events leading up to him releasing his leaks. Perhaps we've said too much just by having James on our show, but we think we can tell you that it is a real time email game where you react to actual emails that were sent out at the time. And we provide clear evidence that you can monetise your brand on One Life Left through Simon, sorry 'Alex', buying the game on air. And, if we haven't made it clear enough, the game's name is Top Secret. We also had some Confessions of a Part-Time Gamer, a bit of Local News and an Ann Investigates From Iceland. Well, maybe not the last one but we're going to pretend we did in our next show just to check if Ann listens to the show and reads this bit. Although going by our news section this week we probably shouldn't annoy her too much. Cheerio! Team OLL x Links: https://playtopsecret.com/ https://twitter.com/jamestyro Track list: 1. REDACTED 2.
