This episode delves into the psychology behind why people buy. It starts with Joel's recent impulse purchase of a car window smasher, triggered by seeing a flaming BMW, and explores why the most effective marketing sells outcomes, not just features. Joel and Martha discuss what really makes people click "Buy Now", exploring how fear based 'what if' scenarios can drive immediate purchases, even for problems people didn't know they had. They cover why success in sales often starts with making your audience 'problem aware' and focusing on the true issue your product solves.
Brad Jones is the creator of the The Cinema Snob and The Bruno Mattei shows, which are popular on You Tube. His love for exploitation films led him to produce several exploitation films: "Midnight Heat", "Cheap", "Freak Out" and "Game Boys". The last three can be found on his website and the trailers for the rest of the movies can be also found there. The Cinema Snob is a show inspired by the 1980s review of "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" by Siskel and Ebert. In it, Siskel seemed to get on a soapbox and saw the movie for more than what it really was by calling it the be all, end all for teenage entertainment. And that " it does nothing but teach young people that life is not worth living because you'll just die in the end." In the end, Brad simply said it was just a slasher flick and decided to write and edit his own videos.Brad also wrote two book, The class 86 and Batpussy books about the exploitation with a new twist.Support the show

Lacy, fingerless gloves. Neon colors. Legwarmers over spandex, with a complementary headband. Parachute pants. Shoulder pads. Swatch watches. Permed hair with massive bangs, plastered in place with hair spray. If you've ever worn any of the above, you're going to love time-traveling back to the 1980s with us! What would YOU choose as 3 defining entertainment events, works, or artists of the decade? That's the question we asked ourselves as we revisited the time period that brought us Gameboys, the VHS craze, Alex P. Keaton, Madonna, and “Cats” on Broadway. Recognizing that we've already featured some 80s megahits like “E.T.” and “Back to the Future” in previous episodes, what OTHER prominent shows, moments, or icons did we highlight in this totally rad 80s episode? Hour 2 in The Sports Bar with Danger and Battaglia begins with "I'll Drink To That" and a suggestion on how the Bills can get out from under Von Miller's contract which leads to a conversation about the new Amazon ad that suggests buying coffee online and changing some diapers will lead to more sex. Who knew? Tom in Rochester calls in to discuss how nothing will change with the Bills due to Josh Allen's contract and Sean McDermott remaining the team's head coach. Christian questions whether Josh can sell his abandoned basketball for profit. He's simply a man looking for answers. Josh's comedy group Game Boys won a freakin Green Room Award! So we discuss what genuine surprises we still have in life and if it's rude to send messages and be on social media during a speech. Finally Christian tells the longwided story of an old man bumping him on the train. Do we give elderly people too much of a pass these days? Both Josh and Dion also have some tales of people being unaware of others personal space. We also play Copy Cat and Time to Think. Back in 1988, Dutch video game designer and entrepreneur, Henk Rogers, secured the rights to distribute the highly addictive Russian invented game Tetris on video game consoles and most especially Game Boys. Tetris would go on to become the most sold video game in the world for the next 3 decades being played on every video game console, computers, hand held devices, mobile phones, and more.In July 2020, it was announced that a biopic was being made about Henk Rogers and how he secured the rights to Tetris from Russia and subsequently bringing Tetris to the world. It's a story that most folks would have disregarded without giving it a second thought, however, as it turns out, it's a story fit for the Hollywood treatment and has been capturing the attention of cinephiles around the world.Hangout with us as we discuss and review the AppleTVPlus bio-drama “TETRIS” on the Brothers in Armchairs Podcast!
