With several national prospects left on the recruitin board, why did Penn State accept Henderson's commitment? We'll answer that today by discussing the team's track record of finding and developing the right high school athletes that turn into premiere college tight ends. Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. as we discuss Ty Howle's ability to recruit and develop top-tier athletes at his position. With official visits fast approaching, be sure to subscribe to the Blue-White Illustrated YouTube Channel and our site so that you don't miss insider intel, breaking news videos, and expert analysis. The BWI Live Show comes to you Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week year-round. Penn State lands Matt Henderson For the second year in a row, Penn State found and recruited an underrated tight end prospect. Last year, Luke Reynolds went from an unheralded three-star player to a top-50 prospect during his senior season. Willt he same be true of Henderson? We discuss his physical tools and what he shares in common with those players that came before him in the recruiting process. We'll also discuss what Penn State looks for in a tight end prospect. Most of the team's commits don't play the position in high school, so how does Howle identify the correct jumbo-receivers to convert into tight ends? We highlight certain physical indicators on today's show that indicate potential growth. From there, we'll discuss the other characteristics of a tight Nittany Lion end. Discussing the team's current players After reviewing the recruiting situation, we turn our attention to the position on the Penn State roster. Which players are next up for the team that's sent multiple tight ends to the NFL in the last five years? We'll discuss Tyler Warren's importance to the new offense under Andy Kotelnicki. Next, we'll recap the position battle for the second tight end spot between Khalil Dinkins and Andrew Rappleyea. Which player has the leg up, and what will determine the position in the battle this summer? We discuss what is next for that pair of players. We also take questions from fans submitted to the show. What are the underlying characteristics of a James Franklin offense? From coordinator to coordinator, what are the common themes that Franklin has leaned towards? Fans also want to know how the integration of Pac-12 officials and players could affect the playing style of the Big Ten on defense. Elaine Howle is the California State Auditor.I don't particularly like that characterization [“scathing audit”] What our audits are intended to do is—as I've said to staff and at legislative hearings—is speak truth to power. To let people know we've audited this program, we've looked at how the state agency is implementing this program, and we found some significant weaknesses, and it needs to be improved. Now, our language—the tone—is sometimes very strong, and some agencies don't like it: “Oh, you're just writing for headlines.” No. What we're trying to do is write reports that are compelling—that will get somebody's interest, and somebody will pay attention.Notes and references from this episode:auditor.ca.gov - California State Auditor home page  List of U.S. state auditors, BallotpediaElaine Howle - 2012 Public Official of the Year, Governing Magazine“State Auditor Elaine Howle is retiring,” David Lightman, The Sacramento Bee EDD Follow-Up: Since the COVID-19 Pandemic It Continues to [...] Put Californians at Risk of Identity Theft, Auditor's report on EDD (Nov. 19, 2020)EDD's Poor Planning and Ineffective Management Left It Unprepared to Assist Californians Unemployed by COVID‑19 Shutdowns, Auditor's report on EDD (Jan. 26, 2021)Significant Weaknesses in EDD's Approach to Fraud Prevention Have Led to Billions of Dollars in Improper Benefit Payments, Auditor's report on EDD (Jan. 28, 2021)“State Auditor Talks About Citizens Re-Drawing The Election Maps,” Capital Public Radio 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Committee“UC President Napolitano Apologizes for Interfering With State Audit,” by Ana Tintocalis, KQEDThe Science of Hitting, by Ted Williams=====Theme music by Sounds SupremeTwitter: @WhatCaliforniaSubstack newsletter: whatiscalifornia.substack.comSupport What is California? on Patreon: patreon.com/whatiscalifornia  Email: hello@whatiscalifornia.comPlease subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to our newest show at Impact Radio USA, "INTERVIEWS and MORE", the show that features past interviews from our guests on "Dr. Paul's Family Talk" radio show. In addition to continuing to promote our guests, this show also gives our listeners another opportunity to hear the great information that our guests have provided. As for the "More", we will cover everything from food, to cars, to Bible verses, to music, and so much "MORE"! On today's segment, we will talk to Keith Senzer and Janet Howle: KEITH SENZER Keith Senzer struggled with low self-esteem, bullying from others, and undiagnosed ADHD as a youth, and now, as a Life Coach, he is helping young people and their parents over come the same obstacles that he overcame through his own efforts. As Keith stated, "I truly believe my purpose and calling is effecting change in our teens so that they may grow up to be powerful, responsible and influential adults who want to make the world a better place. I wish that Life Coaching was something that was accessible when I was growing up. I was bullied as a teen and to this day believe that I had ADHD which went undiagnosed. This had a tremendous impact on my academic success and in turn my self-confidence. I struggled to make new friends and was viewed as a snob because I was so shy. My insecurities kept me from connecting with people and recognizing social cues that I should have responded to appropriately. Since 2014 I have dedicated my life to helping teens become the best version of themselves and teaching them to be our future leaders with a goal to heal our world." https://shiftyourpower.com JANET HOWLE Janet Howle has accomplished much in her life, including working as a physical therapist, maintaining a university position, operating her own business with her husband, traveling the world, and now .... an author! As Janet Howle wrote, "I wrote my first piece of fiction the summer I was ten- or there about. It was a story about a young, bored girl who, despite an otherwise happy childhood, runs away to join a circus. It wasn’t a very long story since I couldn’t decide if my heroine was going to be a bareback rider or aerialist, but I did know she would wear one of those sparkly, sequined leotards and tights-pink, or maybe purple. I also had no idea how to develop a plot or describe characters.  My teen years weren’t particularly remarkable. I wasn’t rebellious, well, maybe a little. Fast forward to adulthood. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in physical therapy and I immediately specialized in pediatrics. A few years (and a marriage) later, I left Michigan for graduate school at the University of North Carolina and on completion, joined the faculty there. During these years, both as a clinician and an assistant professor, I wrote a lot of nonfiction, you know, case reports and academic writing, that sort of thing. Okay, maybe academic writing does require a bit of fiction. Now to Uncharted. The setting, characters, and plot draw on my many years sailing the Bahamas mixed in with a shady period in the history of these islands. That more or less brings you up-to-date. I am working on a sequel to Uncharted. It will be a while until it is even a completed manuscript, but it will draw on the period in which the Duke of Windsor ruled the Bahamas. Our next rally will be Cuba if this Covid virus ever goes away." https://www.janethowleauthor.com

True connection can only come about through pure, honest expression. It comes from knowing how to find a truth within, and having the courage to unabashedly share it. As an artist-poet, Danielle Howle is a natural storyteller through song. She makes the biggest impact by sharing simple truths. Her music comes from a place of self-awareness, and is on a perpetual journey of self-discovery. She balances powerful style with conversational lyrics, sharing her honest experience of life. Known for captivating audiences with her stunning vocal ability, contagious energy, and incredible songwriting skills, Danielle's music ranges from country-swamp-blues to jazz to Americana with clear jazz, country, southern rock, indie, and folk influences. The South-Carolinian songbird has been compared to Flannery O'Connor, Patsy Cline, and Nina Simone. The New York Times calls her “an extraordinary mind, a southern storyteller with a gorgeous sense of melody that should be pouring out of stereos everywhere,” and Newsweek said, “Howle sounds as soothing as Karen Carpenter, as graceful as k.d.lang and as Saturday-night worn as Patsy Cline.” Danielle is an effortless and deeply compelling performer with an astounding command of music: her intelligent writing deftly scales anything from ballads to pop to heavy soul, while combining introspective lyrics that galvanize mass appeal. Danielle has opened for myriad legendary acts, including Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, San Bush, The Avett Brothers, Fugazi, and Elliot Smith, and the broad scape of her artistic supporters speaks to her ability to entertain a crowd and engage music enthusiasts. Through her twenty-five year career, Danielle has demonstrated prowess at every turn–from the early band days, to the later eclectic acoustic and electronic years, and everything in between. She's not only a seasoned recording and touring artist, she's also turned her hand to successful production, soundtrack collaborations, and a variety of commercial music work. It's safe to say, Danielle has an incredibly diverse skill-set, with one constant being the beloved guitar she shares her stages with. It's with great excitement that Danielle releases her newest single, “Something Better Now,” produced by long-time friend and collaborator Mark Bryan, of Hootie and the Blowfish on Friday, March 19. This is the celebration of an artist anew. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dacota-muckey/support

Julie Howle is a talented triathlete and surgical oncologist. She's currently the Head of the Melanoma and Sarcoma Multidisciplinary Groups at Westmead Hospital here in Sydney and a Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Sydney. Julie is also an Age Group World Champion triathlete, having won her AG at the ITU Long Distance World Championships in 2017. And she's a 2x finisher for the Hawaii Ironman in Kona (in 2017 and 2018). Plus she’s someone who openly admits that her experience of changing degrees at University “laid the foundation for a lifetime of the imposter syndrome”. Julie and I discuss: - how being resilient and focusing on her goals has helped her navigate her experience with the Imposter Complex, - how the words “World Champion” sit with her, - why she took almost 10 years from her first triathlon to do her first Ironman, - why being sick in the week leading up to her 1st Hawaii Ironman at Kona was a good thing, - how she’s realised getting stuck in ‘comparison’ ruins her enjoyment of the sport, - sow she (as a melanoma specialist living here in Australia, a country with one of the highest rates of skin cancer) protects her skin from the sun while training and racing, and - what you need to do to protect and monitor your skin. Julie is such a softly spoken, humble and genuinely lovely woman. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Sam talks to director Dominic Cooke and actor Billy Howle about their new film On Chesil Beach. It’s 1962, and two young newlyweds from very different backgrounds (Billy Howle and Saoirse Ronan) have chosen to spend their honeymoon on the windswept beaches of Dorset. They’re inexperienced and new to love; a nervous energy fills the air at their first dinner as a married couple. But these aren’t just wedding-night jitters: as the evening progresses it becomes clear that something else is creating the divide. Awkwardly grasping for the connection they know they share, the pair recall moments from their lives, both together and apart, as the inevitability of physical intimacy hangs over them. Directed with great skill by four-time Olivier Award-winner Dominic Cooke, this is Ian McEwan’s heartfelt and sensitive adaptation of his bestselling novel of the same name.
