Batman is arguably the most popular superhero in the world. The DC comic book character has appeared in countless adaptations over the years ranging from film, television, and video games. In the past decade alone, the character has been played and voiced by several actors. But, fans and critics will point towards one adaptation as the most definitive version of the caped crusader - Kevin Conroy's 1993 version of the Dark Knight in the animated film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. The film is part of the critically acclaimed animated universe created by Bruce Timm, popularly called the Timmverse. It was also the first Warner Bros DC animated film to get a theatrical release. It features an original story with a few plot lines taken from the Batman: Year One and Batman: Year Two graphic novels. It is set in two time periods. One is set in the early days of Bruce Wayne donning the cape and cowl as an inexperienced Batman, where he is engaged to marry Andrea Beaumont. The second timeline features Batman at the peak of his powers, investigating a new villain named Phantasm, years after Andrea broke off their engagement. The narrative is a psychological thriller in a noir-detective setting, which also explores Batman's mental makeup after suffering several tragedies in his life. The film was lauded for its writing, animation style, music, and performances by its iconic voice cast, which featured Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamil as the Joker. Writer Paul Dini was also praised for how various themes such as trauma, revenge, and death were explored in the film. While Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight is revered as the greatest comic book adaptation of all time, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the most authentic take on Bruce Wayne/Batman. Watch this hidden gem exclusively on Hungama.Well, that's the end of today's OTTplay Lost and Found podcast. I shall be back again with a new episode until then it's your host Nikhil signing off.

A very busy weekend with a lot of releases coming on every possible platform, so you bet we were very busy. With Hungama2 on @hotstarusa killing all our aspirations, Shilpa Shetty still kept our hopes high on that smoldering look and a bombastic come back to the big screen. And eh don't miss the hottie Meezan. Total studmuffin.14Phere on @zee5usa review triggered our discussion about the quintessential Indian Caste system. And then of course, given the intensity with which one of the actresses defended the story by creating a higher moral ground for Indian values of approval of elders in life's decisions, we went into a tangent with stereotypes that Indians have about Americans. Quite a riot. You can watch the drama unfold in our review of this movie on our Youtube Channel https://youtu.be/jT5AZBHF-6sWe also review two series ( Actually 3 but leave the third for next week for the paucity of time).#FeelsLikeIshq on @netflix delves into the various hues of love and warmth and its impediments. These six stories from directors Ruchir Arun, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, Anand Tiwari, Danish Aslam, Jaydeep Sarkar, and Sachin Kundalkar touch range from commitment phobia to first meetings and crushes, as the series sets out to explore amorous concepts of love at different stages of life.#Chutzpah streaming on @sonlyliv delves into how the online world of social media has alienated a lot of people a reality that exists in their proximity. Using the cliched figures of speech, including a social media sensation grappling with body image problems and a John Tucker Must Die type plot to bring down a misogynistic womanizer.Directed by Simarpreet Singh, Chutzpah has distinct yet interrelated stories. Kevin Paul (Gautam Mehra) is a content creator, whose defining trait is reminding everyone to ‘like, share, comment. All he wants is to get the attention of fashionable influencer Deepali Shah (Aashima Mahajan). His friend Prateek Chawla (Kshitij Chauhan), boasts about being a seducer who can charm any woman into his bed.Hear all of this and more in our weekly podcast and let us know how you liked it.

With more and more companies promoting work-from-home culture due to the rapid spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), a 20 per cent increase in viewership across several over-the-top (OTT) platforms has been observed. No doubt, metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are the major contributors. In this edition of podcast we will talk about a spike in viewership across several OTT platforms amid the Covid-19 outbreak. A senior official of an Indian OTT platform said that as people spend more time at home due to 'social distancing', they have more time to spend watching video content online. “The usual watch time in mornings used to be while travelling, and therefore on phones. Now, we are witnessing a surge in content being watched on television," the official said. Archana Anand, chief business officer of ZEE5 Global, told Business Standard “Globally, on our platform, we have observed a surge of 6 per cent in viewership across all content categories. Looking at key markets, Canada has witnessed highest spike in viewership at 13 per cent followed by West Asia at 10 per cent and APAC regions 8-10 per cent.” After Zee5 observed a significant jump in consumption on connected devices, a channel spokesperson said that this could be attributed to people working from home in the past week. In fact, an Indian OTT platform, which did not wish to be quoted said it had seen a rise in people watching older episodes of programmes. A senior official said, “There has been a 15-20 per cent rise in OTT viewing, given people now have little choice. Platforms also expect new viewers to join during this period, and once normalcy is restored, they will continue to consume videos online. In view of this, Neeraj Roy, founder and chief executive officer, Hungama Digital Media, said, “In order to ensure their safety, most corporates have either already allowed their employees to work from home or are in the process of doing so. We have seen over 20 per cent jump in streaming numbers on Hungama Play between March 1 and March 16. These numbers are expected to rise as Indians start practising social distancing and turn to the digital medium to make up for lack of social interactions.” Apart from an increase in streaming numbers, Hungama has also noticed a shift in the peak consumption hours. With office commute coming to a halt, the consumption which was generally high between 8 am and 10.30 am now extends until 11.30 am. Similarly, the evening peak consumption period now starts at 6 pm, as opposed to 8 pm, and remains high until midnight. Roy also said that the company had also observed a rise in video consumption between 1 pm and 3 pm, which are normally lunch hours. Viacom18’s Voot’s subscription-led platform Voot Select, which was launched in the beginning of this month, has also observed a significant increase in demand for subscription. Commenting on the development, Ferzad Palia, head of Voot Select, youth, music and english entertainment of Viacom18 said, “What we would have expected to do in terms of number of subscribers in 60 days, we have already done in the first 10 days.” What about television channels, then? People pleasing is a big issue for many people and I know that was a huge part of what led to my break down. Feeling like I could never say no to anyone and that I had to keep everyone happy was a real issue so I was over the moon when Ryan said he would love to discuss people pleasing for his episode.Ryan Lanji is a Fashion & Art Curator, his curatorial direction on shows, PR events, collaborations and launches have led to global recognition in fashion and art alike, bringing together some of the biggest names across the industry, including Nick Knight, Gilbert & George, Vidal Sassoon and Mary Katrantzou. More recently curating 'Conservation Couture: The Animal Ball Collection' at the V&A Museum, it featured over forty fashion houses including Chloe, Burberry, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Thierry Mugler. Alongside his work in fashion and art he is the Cultural Producer of Hungama, East London’s Queer Bollywood hip hop night. Hungama translates to 'chaos' and although Ryan’s music selection may be chaotic, he wanted to create the exact opposite… a safe space allowing queer South Asian people the chance for their culture and sexuality to seamlessly co-exist within a club night.During this installment of #tiwik we seem to cover a lot! From coming out to parents who at the time didn’t understand, to dropping out of school to follow your dreams. We discuss chance encounters and how they can change the direction of your life and how pleasing our parents can lead to never fully actualising who we are at our core. The conversation drifts through community and music, to juggling multiple projects and skills where you’re expected to be everything to everyone, to working for free to create and build your dream. We chat cancelling your diary to create space, the fear of loss, rejection and hiding from people in the cinema just to get some peace! “Everytime you people please you lose a bit of yourself.” so hopefully through listening to this episode you can gain a bit of yourself back. Some Classics are better left untouched. We have so many so many examples in Bollywood where under the pretext of recreation, we murder the original creation.I am wondering what was the brief given to the gifted Director Gifty for the song Urvashi. T-Series has tried to recreate the cult classic by A.R. Rehman and Prabhdeva with Honey Singh and Shahid Kapoor.Did they first decide on the song or did they have Big Boy Toyz, Hungama and Boat approach T-Series for their brand promotion, so, T-Series decided on picking any song, any actors, any dance moves and any director; and Urvashi came out on the random selection. There is no "Muqabala" between this and the original in terms of music and especially in terms of dance or storyline, so, I would avoid commenting on that.Behemoth like T-Series can release any crappy song and considering the YouTube followers they can get more than 33 mn hits in less than a week. What do you think should be done in such instances?Urvashi - https://youtu.be/0VwgpYJ4q38The Original - https://youtu.be/dkedupX73xsHave you watched this song? What's your review? Busy Being Black means cultivating a mindset that allows us to constantly embrace and celebrate cultures outside our own. Ryan Lanji, an art and fashion curator, was raised in Canada in a melting pot of cultures and realities that has left a lasting impression on how he sees and interacts with the world around him. His club night, Hungama, is named so for the Hindu word for chaos and bedlam — a word his mother used to describe the joy and revelry of big family gatherings. Indeed, it seems that so much of Ryan’s work centres around a collision of cultures that fosters a deeper cultural appreciation to help amplify our similarities. Busy Being Black is a podcast exploring how we thrive in the fullness of our queer Black lives.
