Sarah Stamm is a company of one - Salisbury and Maude is her business run from her farmhouse overlooking the Victorian Alps near Beechworth. Mornings start at the crack of dawn for Sarah Stamm with a kiss goodbye from her hubby. First she talks to her cat, checks messages from her ‘hungry and poor' university aged children. Breakfast is always on the fly. No tea or coffee, just crisp cups of rainwater from the tank. Then onto creative work - be-it sewing, knitting or wreath making. In fact most days are not highly organised, there is much time communicating with her audience online or taking photos for social media. Work finishes when the fur-babies pester her too much for dinner. Easy dinner. Catch the nightly news. More knitting, some wordle and then bed around 9.30-10.00pm. “I sleep soundly and I dream in colour, it's often when I do my best creative work.” Reading: Practising Simplicity by Jodi Wilson (who also has a Substack - hello  Jodi Wilson !) Sarah loves the quote:“When we find perspective and we practice simplicity we learn to see and then embrace the beauty of our ordinary remarkable lives.”

Skyler was taken to Brenner Children's hospital where a doctor explained to a detective that Skyler had a Hypoxic Brain Injury, caused by a lack of oxygen getting to his brain. Perhaps it's coming through a global pandemic, or the rising cost of living, or the passing of the great leader and monarch Queen Elizabeth II. All of the above and more, probably - so it's no wonder that it can feel like the world is in a bit of a spin at the moment.Well this week's episode will hopefully help. It's all about taking a deep breath and pausing to find clarity and also joy in the simple things. It's about practising simplicity. And the easy, small steps you can take and brave choices you can make for a life less distracted. Jodi Wilson is an author, photographer and mother of four who has not only written the book, but has made her own life-changing decision to flip everything about the way her family lives. In the midst of the rush and the race of everyday life and saving for a house deposit in a soaring property market, in a suburb she didn't really feel connected to, Jodi felt frustrated and complacent. She felt unmotivated, uninspired and frankly quite angry. She knew something big had to change. It was a gamble, but Jodi and her husband, sold most of their belongings, spent their hard-earned house deposit on a car and a caravan, and packed up their four kids, to travel Australia.I love this chat with Jodi - who now happily lives with her family near the beach in Tasmania. There's no nagging or preaching. Instead Jodi gently reminds us about the value in owning less, reconnecting with nature, respecting those dreams tucked away inside … brewing, and observing tiny moments of joy that prove we don't need a lot to live well. Would you say your life embraces simplicity? Today is an invitation to do that more, with author Jodi Wilson, whose book, Practising Simplicity tells the tale of how she found ways to embrace simplicity in all its, well, simplicity. While for her it looked like packing up a busy, urban life and jumping in a caravan, destination: Australia, she very much cautions against copying someone else's exploration and finding what simplicity means to you. There is no prescription in this conversation, only an invitation to feel less rushed, more fulfilled and grateful, and more aligned with nature when you're urban, in the country and everywhere in between. In today's episode, I interview Jodi Wilson. Jodi shares the pregnancies and births of her four children.  As a yoga teacher and childbirth educator, Jodi brings a beautiful perspective to her interview. She even shares some breathing techniques and tools she used in her births. Whilst each of Jodi's births was drug-free and under the care of midwives, they were all quite unique in their own way.  Her third and most challenging birth almost ended in an emergency caesarean section and this traumatic experience left her quite anxious going into her fourth birth. To hear more about Jodi's experiences tune into this week's show.
