Deane is grateful he took a leap of faith with that first step which led to both a lucrative career and an opportunity to give back to the community.WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Why Deane feels communication is the most important life skill that is often overlookedWhy body language and proper tonality is so crucial to how you are to be perceived by another humanHow important honesty can be in intimate relationships instead of telling your partner what you think they want to hearHow focusing on how your words come across can make it easier to build the trust needed to be honest with your partnerDeane's advice for owning and running a business with your spouseHow setting expectations is in fact setting yourself up for successDeane's best advice to someone with ADHD who has to focus to present to othersWhy being authentic and being your true self is so important FAVORITE QUOTE: “We all do training. NBA – Victor Wembanyama is the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, with expectations of stardom Victor Wembanyama is the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, headed to San Antonio with enormous expectations to become basketball’s newest sensation. The selection of the 19-year-old from France that had been a foregone conclusion for months was announced by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Thursday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Wembanyama arrives with far more height and hype than most No. 1 picks. Listed at 7-foot-4, he dominated his French league in his final season there, leading all players in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Brandon Miller of Alabama was the No. 2 pick by the Charlotte Hornets and Scoot Henderson went third to the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA – Pistons, Pacers banking on lottery selections to provide immediate help on defense The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers used lottery picks on players who should make their biggest early impact on defense while the rest of the Central Division teams sat out the first round of Thursday’s draft. Detroit selected wing Ausar Thompson of the Overtime Elite developmental program with the fifth overall selection. Indiana took Houston forward Jarace Walker, who went eighth. Both the Pistons and Pacers ended up with two first-round picks. The Pistons added Houston guard Marcus Sasser and the Pacers landed Belmont forward Ben Sheppard later in the first round.   The Pistons received some tough luck in the lottery when they got stuck with the fifth pick despite having the NBA’s worst record at 17-65. But they believe they found a keeper in Thompson.  The Bulls traded into the second round with Washington to acquire Tennessee forward Julian Phillips at No. 35. NBA – Jett Howard follows his father Juwan’s path from Michigan to NBA lottery pick Jett Howard can only hope he keeps following in his father’s footsteps as he goes from Michigan to the NBA. He joined his father Juwan as an NBA draft lottery pick Thursday night. Juwan still has bragging rights as the fifth pick overall in the 1994 draft out of Michigan. His son went at No. 11 overall to Orlando after playing his lone college season for his father at Michigan. Jett credited all the time spent learning from his father on and off the court for preparing him. The two-time NBA champ played 1,208 games over 19 years with eight different teams. NBA – Bulls expect Lonzo Ball to miss another season because of left knee injury The Chicago Bulls expect point guard Lonzo Ball to miss another season because of his left knee injury. Viktor Hovland wins the Memorial in a playoff over Denny McCarthy for his fourth PGA Tour win while Rose Zhang beats Jennifer Kupcho in a playoff to win on the LPGA tour in her first start as a pro. We begin the pod breaking down Hovland's win and the week for runner-up Denny McCarthy, Rory, Scottie, the renovation to the course, Billy Ho's interview, and more. Then it's on to Liberty National as Rose announces her presence on tour with a win just a week after she defended her title in the NCAAs. In short, there's no better time for some absurd predictions on how many career majors she'll win. We also get into Phil's week on Twitter and a quick look at Monday's final stage of US Open qualifying. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

There are no Sunday scaries here, as Andy and Brendan are bubbling to talk about a fantastic day and weekend of golf. They begin with the LPGA, where Rose Zhang debuted as a pro, and won. They discuss the incredible achievement, the hype train that's chugging full steam, and caution about setting insane expectations. They also hit on the concurrent AJGA event and the abominable pace of play at Liberty National. On the PGA Tour, they praise Viktor Hovland's “mettle” to survive a brutally hard Muirfield Village, a venue that Hovland had some spicy thoughts about earlier in the week on Norwegian television. They elaborate more on the test at Jack's place, and debate whether you should be more concerned about Scheffler's putting or Rory's approach play following that Sunday. There's some intel about Matt Wolff's departure from Team Smash, and more news on a Memorial schedule change. Lastly, they run through the U.S. Open Final Qualifying sites, picking a name, or two from each one to watch on Monday -- beware of Brian Stuard at Springfield!

The Most Unlikely Leader Roger Smith Interview with author of The Most Unlikely Leader Roger Smith #Author #TheMostUnlikelyLeader #RogerSmith Hi, and welcome to the show! On today's show I have the pleasure of welcoming author and former President and CEO of American Income Life Insurance and Liberty National, Mr. Roger Smith to talk about his book The Most Unlikely Leader, and we take a deep dive into his remarkable life that includes astronomical business success alongside family struggles and a life-threatening battle with addition. Roger, a proud father of five, currently lives in Florida with his wife Demi, and their two dogs. He received the Yitzhak Rabin Legacy Award, Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award, Healthcare for All Champion Award, Sol Stein Award, as well as numerous other awards and publications. During this call, Roger reveals a great deal about his journey as a top tier executive in one of America's premier organizations, through to the deeper, darker days struggling with various elements of his family and personal life. As we talk, Roger reveals why The Most Unlikely Leader, was not necessarily meant to be him. His story will take you on a journey that started when he was a teenager living on the streets of Santa Monica, and was addicted to drugs. Roger dropped out of high school, ran into trouble with the law, had his best friend shot right next to him while running away from a failed robbery attempt and, at one point, was so down and out and desperate for a fix in his early thirties that he walked into the Pacific Ocean expecting never to come back. In our darkest moments, often comes the realization that we're meant to achieve great things. And in Roger's case, he rose through the ranks of American Income relying on nothing but his wit, work ethic and his evolving understanding of what it takes to build teams and lead national organizations. Topics to Discuss: CPA Allies is an independent, RIA firm, specializing in providing accounting and finance professionals with insurance, investment and planning services. We work with young, mid-career and senior level accountants and CPAs. We also act as trusted, unbiased partners to CPA and accounting firms who provide tax, audit and compliance services to their clients. We have two approaches: Working one-on-one with accounting professionals by providing customized financial planning services to meet their specific needs. Serving as trusted advisors for accounting firms who want to provide their clients with a resource for their insurance, investment, and planning needs. CPAs and accountants are some of the smartest and most trusted business experts you can have in your professional network. However, many times they need personal assistance making financial decisions that impact all aspects of their life. Accounting firms offer many vital services to their clients but often times lack the expertise of the protection, investment and financial planning that will complete the holistic circle their clients desire. CPA Allies was created, to serve the needs of the accounting professionals and their clients in an unbiased, transparent and ethical manner. We understand the need to have a relationship with a partner you can trust and feel comfortable working with. It is no longer acceptable for CPAs to just prepare tax returns and financial statements. The very best clients expect, demand and deserve much more value from their CPA, who must evolve into the most trusted business advisor role. CPA Allies helps you solve the complicated problems for your best individual and business owner clients. We concentrate our efforts on developing and maintaining the relationship with the accounting community. Our sole interest is in enabling them to address and solve their clients' issues, only working directly with the clients when that trust is established.
