Attachment is a recent popular topic that has entered the public eye, but psychological researchers have been investigating attachment patterns for decades. What is the relationship between early attachment personality disorders? Is there an overlap? APS's journal Clinical Psychological Science features an article with a new perspective into how attachment style can be linked to personality disorders. In this episode of Under the Cortex, the two psychological scientists who wrote the article, Madison Smith from Northwestern University and Susan South from Purdue University talk with Özge Gürcanlı Fischer Baum about the role of early relationships in shaping one's personality by addressing the undeniable need of forming attachment with loved ones. The conversation starts with Smith's academic journey into linking the fields of attachment and personality science. The researchers also highlight the fact that attachment researchers and personality disorder experts do not typically talk to each other, but this research provides an opportunity to reduce this gap.

A story of boldly going where no one had gone before! Nichelle Nichol's role as Lieutenant Uhura in the original Star Trek series was groundbreaking. Civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. praised her work for defying stereotypes and revolutionizing portrayals of Black individuals on television. Her influence and advocacy for more diversity at NASA sparked new interest in space travel and helped to recruit brilliant STEM talents like Dr. Sally Ride, Colonel Guion Bluford, and Mae Jemison.SYNOPSIS: While Jonathan and Mr. Redge are at the Once Upon a Time Con, they come across an artist booth called Deep Space Drawings by Deanna. They meet Deanna, who is a fan of Star Trek and has created artwork inspired by the series. They share Nichelle Nichols story and her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura and how it was one of the first non-stereotypical portrayals of a Black woman on television. They also talk about how Martin Luther King Jr. convinced Nichelle Nichols to stay on the show because of the positive impact her character had on the civil rights movement. Besides her role as Uhura, Nichelle Nichols also created new interest in space exploration and opened the doors of opportunity for more people of color to work at NASA. Impressed by Deanna's art and inspired by the story of Nichelle Nichols, Redge decides to purchase some of Deanna's paintings. He declares himself a Trekkie and expresses his eagerness to explore space. The episode concludes with the hosts and Deanna bidding farewell and wishing each other to "live long and prosper." We just came out of the pandemic and had fear, confusion and dissension. Now we are seeing a move of God. How powerful God is using GenZ to bring a revival movement. II Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. There is a shift and returning of the presence of God. We have to make room for the Holy Spirit.
Madison is the new assistant with Tammy at Influence Church. Madison's back story and roots are from Georgia. She has a little brother who was born with Down Syndrome. He was the greatest miracle. With his golden age Hollywood looks and fierce ambition, Madison Smith is a rising force making his impression on the entertainment industry. From a young age, Madison always wanted to be an actor, however he instead would go on to attend college on a baseball scholarship and pursue a career in marketing. After attending a year of school though, he couldn't shake the feeling he was on the wrong path, so Madison followed his acting dreams, packed his bags, and made the move to Vancouver (AKA. Hollywood North) and enrolled in Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts. After graduating from the academy in 2011, Madison quickly began booking roles and has since appeared in Netflix's ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina', The CW's ‘Supergirl', ‘Supernatural', ‘Legends of Tomorrow' and ‘Riverdale, and SyFy's ‘Aftermath', but is most well knows for his roles on CBS' ‘Salvation' and Netflix's ‘The Order'. Most recently, Madison can be seen as Robby Watts in Hallmark's ‘Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths', and starring in the upcoming Christmas Rom-Com ‘Meeting Mr. Christmas'. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco/support

Pride and greed. Lust and envy. Gluttony, wrath, and sloth. Those are all sins – the cardinal sins, the capital sins, the seven deadly sins – and they're the foundation stones for The Sinners, a terrifying and exciting feature-length thriller from filmmaker Courtney Paige. The Sinners follows seven girls from a religious high school who decide to rebel by starting a cult in which they embody the seven deadly sins. Kaitlyn Bernard plays Grace Carver, the pastor's daughter and most popular girl in school, who discovers her friend Aubrey is about to air out all of their dirty little secrets. Action must be taken. That action leads to kidnapping, and murder, and something possibly worse than death. Courtney co-wrote The Sinners with Erin Hazlehurst and Madison Smith. Besides Kaitlyn, the film features Brenna Coates, Brenna Llewellyn, Keilani Elizabeth Rose, Jasmine Randhawa, Carly Fawcett, Natalie Malaika, and some veterans of the Vancouver film and TV scene: Aleks Paunovic, Loretta Walsh, Lochlyn Munro, Michael Eklund, Dylan Playfair, Elysia Rotaru, Brendan Taylor, and Tahmoh Penikett. In this riveting episode of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast, Courtney Paige and Kaitlyn Bernard join Sabrina to discuss the many facets of The Sinners. Episode sponsor: Fish Flight Entertainment
The wait is over: NarcoLeap is finally back for season two. Here's how Sabrina described NarcoLeap when it dropped its first season in 2018: “NarcoLeap is fun. It's suspenseful. It's action-packed. It's female-driven. It's empowering. In other words, it's the kind of sci-fi journey that this topsy-turvy world needs right now: pure… escapism with a big, beating heart. Created by Kate Green, the highly anticipated web series – which hit YouTube… after months of development and hype – stars Chelsey Reist (The 100) as Kelsey Atkins, a young woman whose lifelong narcolepsy takes a dramatic turn when she discovers that her consciousness can leap into other people whenever she falls into a narcoleptic slumber… NarcoLeap also stars Madison Smith as Kelsey's best friend, Austin Eckert as a mysterious agent, Nicole Oliver as Kelsey's mother, and Aleks Paunovic as a volatile military officer named Colonel Slater.” NarcoLeap's second season kicks off on December 20, and Sabrina is stoked to report that it's just as fun, suspenseful, and action-packed as ever – maybe even more so. This time, the stakes are higher, the secrets are bigger, and Kelsey's dad – played by Cameron Bancroft – is a new source of conflict and mystery. In this rollicking episode, Sabrina is joined by Nicole Oliver, Chelsey Reist and Kate Green to discuss the making of season two, and what the future holds in store for Kelsey, her friends, her family, and her foes. World of Dance has crowned another winner, and it's a first for the dance competition series, which just wrapped Season 4—a group of contemporary dancers. MDC 3—teenagers Madison Smith, Emma Mather, and Diego Pasillas—were the only Junior Division act to compete in the finals (which aired August 12), beating out Oxygen, Jefferson y Adrianita, and Geometrie Variable to take home the victory and be crowned "Best in the World." "It's almost like a dream come true," Pasillas tells TV Insider. Being the only Juniors competing "was definitely very nerve-racking," Smith adds. "We had to pull up a lot and rehearse as hard as we could." For the resulting performance (below), they made sure to take all the notes from the judges into consideration before finalizing the choreography. "We all wanted to make sure we had the emotion [alongside] the cool tricks [as well] because we are known as the storytellers of the show," Mather explains.

This podcast is hosted by Liz and Eric Prugh. The two are married and use drinking wine and talking about Game of Thrones as their date night. Because of the TV series' insanely long hiatus, the pair look back at some of the most intricate storylines, characters, and myths in the world of Westeros. Tune in as this geeky couple breaks down the mythologies and theories surrounding George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones series. In the inaugural episode of Pure Fandom's Game of Thrones podcast A Podcast Remembers, we break down what it really means to be a "true dragon" in this mythology. Daenerys Targaryen's brother Viserys once called himself the last "true dragon", but as it turns out, his sister Dany was. What exactly does this mean? We break that down in more in this first episode. We are also joined by our first celebrity guest: Madison Smith, who stars in season 2 of the CBS show Salvation!

And, that moment becomes even more special when you find out about Madison's relationship to the composer who arranged the ballad, as Dan Potter does in today's Field Pass presented by Zildjian.
