In episode 123 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield take on the double Oscar winning couple, Spanish actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. The couple first met on the set of the film Jamón Jamón in 1992, but didn't start dating until years later. They married in July of 2010 and share two children.   Starting with Penelope's chart we encounter a passionate, commanding, and feisty Aries rising, while her Sun in the first house getting a sextile from Mars, speaks to even more need for action and a desire to fight for what she needs. On the other hand, we encounter a gentle and compassionate Venus and Jupiter in Pisces. Adding a supportive trine to those planets from her Cancer Moon, it's no wonder she spent time volunteering with Mother Theresa and loves to give back to her community.    Next we look at Javier's chart and see Libra on the ascendant, denoting that he oozes charm and attractiveness. (This podcast highlights how the recent Mercury retrograde period triggered an important T-square in Trump's chart, so give it a listen!)What's changing now, however, is how undeniably obvious this has become as well as how potentially disruptive to both the U.S. & global trade & economy. With Mercury now direct, however, we've seen yet again additional changes in plans from the U.S. Government vis-à-vis tariffs.What's becoming more and more obvious, however, to even the average news absorber, is that Trump's assumption that his tariffs will succeed when they've been historically proven to weaken America's dollar, lead to losses for American companies, & create turmoil in the financial markets, is their complete unworkability. We approach now the April 12 Libra Full Moon, which occurs at 23'20' Libra in opposition to the Aries Sun conjunct wounded healer Chiron, while they all form a cardinal T-square to Mars in Cancer. Less than an hour later Venus stations direct in Pisces, telling us it's time to check in on the status of our partnerships.Can you spell "F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-O-N?" As both Venus & Mercury begin to gather speed in their forward trajectory, we can see more clearly the results of how these astrological energies are currently playing out, at least here in America. This lunation highlights that we have here a “wounded king/ruler/autocrat wanna-be” facing opposition from the “people,” who desire to be more partnership-oriented with the rest of the world rather than less.In essence, this lunation—which has the Libra Moon reflecting back to the wounded Sun its own light—asks us to release any tendencies toward an “it's my way or the highway” type leadership that leads only to opposition, and to begin to negotiate & compromise. This becomes difficult, however, since what's wounded the Aries Sun is its lack of ability to back down in the face of having proactively made disastrous decisions.We look forward now to Mercury reentering Aries on April 16 or 17, depending on your time zone, and Mars reentering Leo April 17/18. Will Trump double down on his losing proposition to impose 145% tariffs on Chinese imports as China ups the ante by raising its tariff rates on U.S. goods to 125 percent on April 12? Especially when economists already know that this kind of trade war will result in higher prices for American consumers. “China's factories produce more than those in the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Britain combined, and many of the products imported to the United States come from China,” according to the New York Times.And that's not mentioning how the U.S. House of Representatives managed to pass a continuing budget resolution on April 10, as we waxed toward the Libra Full Moon, that will keep Trump's 2017 tax cuts for billionaires & cut trillions from government services. This passed 216 to 214, with zero democrats voting for it & two republicans jumping ship to side with the democrats.This podcast discusses the arduous task ahead for Congress to rectify the House & Senate versions of this bill, along with how it will result in growing opposition by an ever-enlarging group of those who'll be personally affected by such cuts. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN for this week's Astro News You Can Use podcast @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking which covers how, as we're now at the first quarter monthly lunar square of the Cancer Moon to the Aries Sun April 4, a major shift is reverberating through our global collective consciousness.This podcast starts with a recap of the effects of eclipse season & what's taken place between March 13 & now--including notable accidents, fires, natural disasters, and other events of a physical nature such as military bombings, & the incarceration of those who protest war. For example, in addition to the devastating storms that raged through the U.S. after the March 13/14 Virgo Full Moon lunar eclipse, and just before the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse on March 29, we learned of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. The massive destruction there has now left 3,455 people dead, another 4,715 people injured, and 341 missing, according to Myanmar's military-led government.We discuss also what's occurred between the inferior conjunction of the Sun in Aries to Venus retrograde on March 22 and its heliacal rising circa March 29, which echoes the themes of this eclipse series--with the addition of the fall from grace of prominent people. This theme was mirrored in last night's removal by the high court of the South Korean president after he instituted martial law back on December 12, 2024, and may represent a harbinger of the future elsewhere.Here in America, there are plenty of people losing their positions, such as unelected billionaire Elon Musk who's responsible for major labor cuts and funding throughout the federal government that's just now beginning to take effect by touching peoples lives personally. An object of American & Canadian anger, Musk is reportedly due to step down as a "special government employee" who's head of the Department of Government Efficiency sometime in May. However, he will remain an advisor to President Trump.But the real news is that the tide is beginning to turn as voters in Wisconsin elected a democrat to the state's supreme court on April 2, reducing GOP influence in a swing state that voted overwhelmingly for Trump last November. And, although two GOP House representative won their special elections in deep red regions of Florida, the turnout there severely alarmed GOP operatives as the percentages of those wins dropped drastically from last November. In addition, the democrats in Congress show signs of beginning to wake up and fight back since this Aries solar eclipse & as we approach the waxing cardinal first quarter monthly lunar “crisis in action” square on April 4. Even some hardcore GOP members of Congress are now objecting to Trump's massive tariffs on nearly all foreign nations that trade with America. These eclipses, combined with Mercury's retrograde period starting on March 14 at the lunar eclipse, have included a review of trade contracts & agreements. Between the combination of Venus retrograde from March 1 through April 12 & Mercury's retrograde cycle from March 14 through April 7, we've seen the weakening of global partnerships (Venus) with America mainly through the issue of trade (Mercury.) And, as the U.S. continues to maintain its isolationist “us versus them” stance on trade and its expansionist threats against its partners, retaliation is threatened by these partners (Aries)—again. Fingers crossed that mercurial unpredictable President Trump will come to a final conclusion on his tariff threats, due to go into effect on April 5, by the time Mercury stations direct again on April 7.Such threats have already tanked the financial markets, alarming many, even though the jobs report today was a positive one. But the federal worker cuts have not hit the unemployment stats yet, and we have not yet felt the full brunt of economic effects based on the increase in prices of goods imported into the U.S. Economists' estimates this will cost the average American between $1600 & $3,800 per year--which essentially amounts to a rise in taxes.As people begin to wake up to all of this and how it will affect them & those they love personally, attitudes are beginning to shift in alignment with the post Aries New Moon solar eclipse energies. In addition, Neptune's ingress into Aries on March 30 is slowly allowing the birth of a new consciousness around the world's current predicament to arise and events indicate now that action will follow.Looked at symbolically, NY Senator Cory Booker's record breaking 25+ hour speech on the Senate floor on April 2 that excoriated Trump, Musk, and others for their careless, callous edicts & actions (here's lookin' at you Pete Hegseth & Mike Waltz), represented the birth of a new political awakening & retaliatory defiance.In addition, a new era is heralded by Neptune's entrance into Aries for the next fourteen years until 2038. Since Neptune rules the natural 12th House of gestation, and Mars-ruled Aries the proactivity necessary for the act of birth, we're witnessing now the birth of consciousness within the collective that the old order is falling away and a new one will eventually mature into adulthood.While we're still a long way from that phase of Neptune in Aries, we know that Neptune will be joined soon by Saturn in Aries on May 24. And that this CAN herald a time of greater psychological understanding within the national collective. Why? As we come off the past weekend's Full Moon (quite confusing or challenging for some of us); wildly different conversations, especially if fraught with intellectual/ logic against what feels like justice. Sunday evening may have brought good rest, as Mercury went direct. As this week opens readjust; Mercury retraces its recent path. Confusion starts to clear, although not necessarily absolute clarity. We just may feel less of a fog, which is certainly preferable. The moon is in the sign of Cancer on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, if you've a lot of water or perhaps earth, you want people or situations that feel comfortable and safe. You may think that's good all the time, but some thrive on conflict… when they seek solutions or stimuli, they attract tension and friction! Yet with this Cancer Moon, we look for that tranquil cove to reset. We need to figure out where we are, evaluate and reflect before we gain momentum. These are unsettling times. Your practice when on less tumultuous waters is to keep righting your ship.Practice regular spiritual hygiene, whatever's working for you. Some people like a journaling, or scribing their gratitudes. Others exercise the morning pages from The Artist's Way. Yoga practice, stretching, martial art - all forms of meditation. I love being able to walk in nature or garden and just “be” to drift for a while. When I lived in the city, there was the roof and skyline or a walk by the river. You may like a cloistered meditation or you may seek ways that give you a sense of space. Prioritize a practice of meditation; it will feed you and allow calm in the chaos. It doesn't have to be fancy or rigid — washing dishes or taking a bath works for some. In this episdoe we explore if their synastry shows stamina for a marriage!   Starting with Hailee, we see a nurturing Cancer rising but it gets hardened by a sharp Saturn square and opposing Capricorn Moon. As an Academy Award Nominee at age 13, this hard-working actress experienced professional responsibility from an early age and her chart proves it! Additionally, her fiery Sagittarius Sun getting a square from Mars in Virgo, shows she has a wealth of energy that needs to be applied in being of service to others to avoid overindulgence.   Next, we look into Josh's chart and see an intense, charming, and somewhat intimidating Scorpio rising. With a Mars opposition to this ascendant, the "tough guy" persona can create a lot of conflict and confrontation whether he likes it or not. We see more Scorpionic energy with his Gemini Sun being opposed by Pluto, telling us that for him, the dark side of life is never far away. It's good that he has a family-oriented Cancer Moon which summons emotional support when he needs it.   Together, the synastry shows that they have a striking, mutual Venus/Ascendant conjunction. This creates a powerful and immediate attraction, adoration, and cooperation for both of them. Then we see a Jupiter Conjunction that reveals career growth is important to each of them. To add more receptivity between them, they share water Moons and earth Mercuries making their emotional bond strong and their communication styles similar. However, with Hailee's Moon (her chart ruler) getting a harsh square from Josh's Saturn, domestic harmony could be difficult to achieve.
