In an era where thinking outside the box is paramount, foreign SEO has emerged as a tantalizing strategy for affiliate marketers in search of new frontiers. While foreign affiliate industries are not as established as their English-language counterparts, competition is less fierce and Google algorithm updates are less frequent and hard-hitting.  Among the numerous gems in this treasure trove of opportunities, the Dutch affiliate market stands out for its unexplored potential. This is where Niels Zee, a seasoned SEO and affiliate marketer comes into play. Niels has not only navigated the complexities of affiliate marketing but has also mastered the Dutch affiliate market's distinctive characteristics.  In this episode, Niels shares his journey from inception to expertise. We dive into the differences between the US and Dutch affiliate markets, and Niels highlights how language and cultural nuances play a pivotal role in shaping strategies for success.  From monetization options for Dutch sites to the importance of backlinks in Dutch affiliate marketing, we explored the critical elements that set this market apart. Niels explains,  “The most important metric for the Dutch market is the amount of incoming links versus outgoing links. Some websites just link out to 10,000 websites and they only get 100 links in. That's not quality. And Google knows that. So really try to shy away from those sites if you're looking to buy a Dutch affiliate site.” Moreover, Niels took us through his playbook for nurturing and expanding affiliate sites, sharing his secrets for sustainable growth. He also shares the secret sauce behind structuring acquisition deals that work like a charm as well as the pros and cons of building from scratch versus acquiring established affiliate sites. According to Niels, “I always prefer to buy a site over building one from scratch. There's always a sandbox period where you create a domain and then for the next three to six months, nothing happens. That's very frustrating. It's less risky to start with a domain that's already ranking and bringing in some traffic.” Listen to this episode to unlock the door to a new realm of possibilities in the world of affiliate marketing. The market for website flipping is highly competitive, with many experienced investors and entrepreneurs vying for the same opportunities. This can make it difficult for newcomers to break into the industry and make money. That's where an SEO strategy comes in handy. It can increase website visibility, improve user experience, lower marketing costs, and increase website valuation—all of which are crucial for successful website flipping. In this special episode, Rad Paluszak joins me today and discusses creating an SEO strategy to use for flipping websites. Rad Paluszak is a web developer and software architect with 20 years' experience. He has been a technical mastermind in the SEO industry since 2010. Rad helped Matt Diggity run his SEO agency The Search Initiative, and Matthew Woodward with Search Logistics. He recently founded Husky Hamster, an outreach link building company and his SEO Agency Non.Agency. Rad's specializations include international and technical SEO, machine learning and understanding, as well as looking at SEO from business and management perspectives. During our discussion, we covered the topic of how Google uses entities to organize websites, their rankings, and their value? How can you understand SEO the easiest way possible by focusing on just the main 3 elements of SEO? What helpful content looks like, and what information you need to find out about your competitors to outrank them? We also discussed what is tech SEO and why you should focus on resolving a few key tech SEO fixes as a launch pad to growing the site? And what you should and SHOULD not do after you've bought a site? Last but not least, we talked about my GOB course that Rad took and what he learned from it? Catch this valuable episode and learn SEO strategies that can make your website flipping venture a success! Episode Highlights 02:30 What are the 3 main things in SEO? 10:01 What is helpful content? 23:36 Content or backlinks—which is more valuable? 28:20 Technical aspects of SEO 32:40 Tech Order 43:57 Know your website! 48:57 Best SEO tools Key Takeaways ➥ To create an effective SEO strategy, you need to focus on 3 main things: content, links, and technical aspects. Your website must have high-quality and relevant content that satisfies user intent, authoritative links from other websites, and a technically optimized website structure, page speed, and mobile-friendliness. These three components work together to improve your search engine rankings and increase your website's visibility.   ➥ In SEO, links are important because search engines use them to assess a website's authority and relevance. If your website receives high-quality links from trustworthy and reputable websites, search engines will see them as valuable, which can improve your search engine rankings. Internal links within your website can also help search engines understand which pages are the most important.   ➥ Addressing technical SEO issues often involves making changes to the website's code, structure, or server configuration. Once these changes are made, they are typically permanent and do not require further attention unless there are new issues or changes to the website. 2023 is going to be a year of extraordinary change. The last three years feel like a coiled spring with a build-up of so much potential energy prepared to become kinetic it will feel like the advent of mass-computing all over again. This might be particularly jarring for some and present ranges of opportunities previously unknown for others. What's happening right now is the predecessor of what might be the last human-organized information environment in our species' somewhat short history. Change happens and change is good. The advancements made in AI, and in particular with OpenAI's ChatGPT have given innovative people more tools than we've ever dreamed possible. That some of those tools are sort of like, blunt objects isn't as relevant as the rapidity of their evolution and the dozens of things good SEOs are already doing with them. Check out a number of recent videos at YouTube by Matt Diggity for true innovative brilliance.  You know that meme about how you and your pre-teen buddies are about to go bike riding as a gang for the very last time and none of you are aware that this is it? I think we might have seen the last year we could hold on to a concept of what was “normal” and we didn't know it. Things are going to move much faster from here. It might be good, it might be bad, it might just be opportunities wrapped in new sets of bytes, and it should inspire you to do great things along with scaring the living bejeezus out of you. The weirdest thing about great change is it's often like watching a child grow up. You don't really notice the inches until a foot of them has suddenly happened. And then suddenly, when the thing that's going to happen happens, it tends to happen quite quickly. Happy New Year. Affiliate marketing creates win-win relationships. Businesses sell more products while affiliate marketers earn mostly passive revenue–and a lot of it, if they do things right. SEO specialist Matt Diggity started his affiliate marketing business in 2009 and today his firms bring a combined revenue of $400K/Month. He explains how to start affiliate marketing with this kind of growth potential in this interview. What is affiliate marketing? Most people have heard of the concept but don't understand how marketers and businesses use it to generate revenue. In this interview, Matt will explain affiliate marketing in depth, including how marketers connect with businesses and the type of content that works best for making affiliate sales. He'll also share some of his favorite tools for generating leads and traffic, along with some best practices for how to use them like a pro. One big draw of affiliate marketing for many is its potential as a passive income source. We'll hear from Matt how many hours he actually works every week and what he spends that time doing to maximize the value he gets out of it. This is the third show where we discuss Empire Flippers, and today we are chatting with Justin Cooke, one of the founders. Justin talked about the Amazon affiliate sites that they sell a lot of, and a good way to learn which sites are selling is to visit their site and go through the listings. Keeping up to date on what's selling in the marketplace is super valuable for all of us. We're all building assets and there's a way to enhance their value. We also talk about the hiring process, and if you check out their site under the careers tab, you'll be able to see what we are talking about. He's got a pretty solid hiring process that he mapped out. He discusses his sales funnel process of hiring, the benefits of hiring an apprentice, how to find potential hires if you don't already have an audience to reach out to, and how to weed out the non-contenders early on. He also has an interesting take on the commission process and discusses how he's made it more of a cooperative arrangement, which has worked out very well. After you listen and your mind is reeling from ideas, you'll definitely want to check out our previous chats with Greg Elfrink and Matt Diggity, on how to best create a site for a future sale or to maintain it while making affiliate income.   “I don't want to fail them..and if I fail them, I'm just going to be amplifying my own failure. But also, any entrepreneur that waits until they are ready to hire has waited way too long.” - Justin Cooke   Some Topics We Discussed Include: Pivoting after one of Google's updates Record-breaking numbers on website sales How to hire an apprentice for your business and working through the ups and downs Breaking down the strategy session process A really smart way to get you noticed when applying for a position Getting over your fears about hiring Building commissions in a cooperative way so the whole team wins Using a cooperative approach for a commissions structure What to do when you are first starting out if building a site to sell Resources From Justin Cooke: Empire Flippers The Opportunity Podcast Empire Flippers Podcast Justin Cooke on Twitter @EmpireFlippers EF Capital   References and Links Mentioned: Flippa The Tropical MBA Gen M Creative Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! We talk about her goals of retiring early and she dissects her entire business model as she’s an open book. Julie’s business model is so tactical and you’ll be able to take her way of thinking and apply even parts of it to your own business. She just wants to make sure she is showing up on Google without worrying about Facebook ads or even email lists. She’s just sticking to keeping it lean, mean and profitable.  Julie has a small portfolio of these sites, which are doing great, and it’s really smart how diversified she is. She discusses how she manages the content, the three most important things to have dialed in on your site, what type of time frame you should look at, how she gets her sites ranks, what to do to get backlinks, as well as how to approach affiliate offers and how to get a higher commission right off the bat.
