Welcome to Showcasing House Music DJ Mixes by dattrax!! This week, thinking about getting a new car stereo deck was dancing in my mind. The one I bought a few years back doesn't play CDs anymore, but fortunately has an auxiliary plug to put my ipod or iphone into. I've been looking in the weekly electronic store flyers for months now, just eyeballing all the car decks- salivating. Dreaming of a cd player that works, the USB port to stick a USB stick full of house music into. The urge to drive to the electronics store and scoop one up was so strong, but know that it would be at least $220 when you include taxes and installation. Then the thought about how many mp3, 320bit house tracks I could buy for that money POPPED into my head, so I decided to live with my crappy car stereo (for now).This internal tug of war brought back a flood of memories to a time when my DJ Partner Jim and I were vinyl junkies to the extreme. We called it being addicted to "The Black Crack" (after the black colour of vinyl for those of you to never have seen vinyl before : ) There was a point where we were so addicted to buying house records, that when I saw something for let's say $35, I'd think to myself: 'but if I don't buy this, then I can buy TWO RECORDS!!'This sounds silly, but seems to be a man's version of frugality- choosing to not spend in one area in favour of another, but not saving any money. There are people who probably think, 'Hey, why do you guys still love house music so much?' You know, some guys dig sports or collecting something... that's just another money and time sucking hobby. We've chosen HOUSE as a hobby and are cool with that. The big difference is that this love can be shared with so many people and transfer those positive feelings.There is so much pleasure in the process for us, almost a monthly ritual... of hunting for tracks. Listening to them for a week or two, mixing them, listening, mixing them again, listening, then again, then sharing them and hoping that someone else likes the mix also.GOING BACK to the topic of being addicted to house back then. We went to endless number of parties, have over 400 mixed tapes & cds made by other house djs. We bought over 6000 vinyl records over the years and we stopped buying vinyl and switched to buying MP3's over 10yrs ago. And now have over 2000 house MP3 tracks. Burned through tape decks, needles (for turntables for the youth out there : ), mixers, 100s of cases of blank cassette tapes and over 8000 blank cds, whatever it was we needed- you name it. Compare to sports (if we were into sports), we would be the guys- shirtless and with full body paint jumping up and down like drunken idiots in the stand holding up crazy signs & stuff, buying sports related stuff, going to sports events, hanging out with other sports addicts, watching sports all the time and playing in men's leaugues 2-3x's per wk. We are the ultimate FANS!I tried to quit 'The Black Crack' three times and once for about 3years till I heard a DJ mix of new house that blew my mind. Now I know that we are here to stay. Deep within the mangroves, the lush water lay idle under a calm ocean sky. Drifting, slowly but surely into a sultry haze of zen and imagination... Born in Ecuador, country in the middle of the world, Jaime became a part of the Ecuadorian movement of producers and DJs in his early 20's, collaborating alongside top national artists like Andre Salmon (Hottraxx, Suara), George Levi (Resident DJ at Lost Beach Club) and Chris C. (Desert Hearts, Inwave). Jaime has garnered some well deserved attention over the recent years. His first EP "Recon” was released on Anima Somnis, one of the most prestigious labels from his hometown Ecuador, Guayaquil. Secondcity smashed his way into dance floor history with ‘I Wanna Feel', which went on to lift the No 1 spot on the UK Singles chart. Since then, he's followed up with a slew of funky bass-line charged goodies, including ‘Say It' and this year's collaborations, ‘Play It' and ‘Funk'd', the latter alongside Ibiza's fast rising star and Egg Ldn favourite Manu Gonzalez. dattrax: Happy Easter Everyone and just wanted to share a little of the spring sunshine with you in a form of a new HOUSE MIX! May God Bless you all and your loved ones. And if you don't feel blessed right now, then know that without a doubt that He DOES LOVE YOU and hopefully you'll realise that someday. This week, thinking about getting a new car stereo deck was dancing in my mind. The one I bought a few years back doesn't play CDs anymore, but fortunately has an auxiliary plug to put my ipod or iphone into. I've been looking in the weekly electronic store flyers for months now, just eyeballing all the car decks- salivating. Dreaming of a cd player that works, the USB port to stick a USB stick full of house music into. The urge to drive to the electronics store and scoop one up was so strong, but know that it would be at least $220 when you include taxes and installation. Then the thought about how many mp3, 320bit house tracks I could buy for that money POPPED into my head, so I decided to live with my crappy car stereo (for now). This internal tug of war brought back a flood of memories to a time when my DJ Partner Jim and I were vinyl junkies to the extreme. We called it being addicted to "The Black Crack" (after the black colour of vinyl for those of you to never have seen vinyl before : ) There was a point where we were so addicted to buying house records, that when I saw something for let's say $35, I'd think to myself: 'but if I don't buy this, then I can buy TWO RECORDS!!' This sounds silly, but seems to be a man's version of frugality- choosing to not spend in one area in favour of another, but not saving any money. There are people who probably think, 'Hey, why do you guys still love house music so much?' You know, some guys dig sports or collecting something... that's just another money and time sucking hobby. We've chosen HOUSE as a hobby and are cool with that. The big difference is that this love can be shared with so many people and transfer those positive feelings. There is so much pleasure in the process for us, almost a monthly ritual... of hunting for tracks. Listening to them for a week or two, mixing them, listening, mixing them again, listening, then again, then sharing them and hoping that someone else likes the mix also. GOING BACK to the topic of being addicted to house back then. We went to endless number of parties, have over 400 mixed tapes & cds made by other house djs. We bought over 6000 vinyl records over the years and we stopped buying vinyl and switched to buying MP3's over 10yrs ago. And now have over 2000 house MP3 tracks. Burned through tape decks, needles (for turntables for the youth out there : ), mixers, 100s of cases of blank cassette tapes and over 8000 blank cds, whatever it was we needed- you name it. Compare to sports (if we were into sports), we would be the guys- shirtless and with full body paint jumping up and down like drunken idiots in the stand holding up crazy signs & stuff, buying sports related stuff, going to sports events, hanging out with other sports addicts, watching sports all the time and playing in men's leaugues 2-3x's per wk. We are the ultimate FANS! I tried to quit 'The Black Crack' three times and once for about 3years till I heard a DJ mix of new house that blew my mind. Now I know that we are here to stay. For Metroline Limited Podcast number 18 we welcome a new addition to the Metroline Limited roster: up and coming Italian house producer SeHou who will be featured on forthcoming release number 40 on our label in the autumn. Born in the late 1980 in Puglia (Italy), he takes his first steps towards music as a child playin guitar and drums in different bands. He began lovin electro music during his childhood and he starts following artists such as Royksopp and The Knife, so popular around 2000, and he starts appreciating all the club scene close to this kind of sounds.thats when he feels the need to express himself behind the desks, evolving his sound trough the various undergrounds trends of the time. He has payed in many clubs, djing on the local party circuit, until 2008 - 2009 when he decides to get closer to music production. His first release is a side for PUP, an Italian young label, producing pup 01 n pup 02 and further tracks supported by international artists as Richie Hawtin, Andre Galluzzi, Federico Molinari, Paco Osuna, Felipe Venegas, DJ Wild, Boris Werner, Andrew Grant and many more. He starts a collaboration with another really appreciated young label: All Inn. His track She Makes Me Wanna Dance is regularly played by top worldwide DJs as Ricardo Villalobos, Danny Tenaglia, Matthias Tanzmann, Matt Tolfrey, Federico Molinari, Tania Vulcano, Livio and Roby, Tini and so on. This release is gonna be a great springboard for his career, infact he is gonna collaborate with international labels as Leftroom, Connect Four, 7oz, Mallory, Revox e Joyfull family and artists such as Lemos, Ekkohaus, Cristi Cons, Alejandro Vivanco, Daniel Sanchez, Lula Circus, iO, Westboy e Memorymann aka Uovo (Pastaboys). He is currently DJ resident on some parties in his home town, and collaborating with Underworld and Guendalina parties. Inspired by the turntablists, crews, rappers and pirate stations from that era Nick soon caught the vinyl bug and began collecting the sounds which changed electronic and urban music forever. With an ever growing record collection and the arrival of House music in the UK it wasn't long before he was ready to make his dj debut. Nick hit the decks in the early 90’s playing the post acid house London club circuit and soon became a regular at venues such as Ormonds, Villa Stefano, Bagley’s, Soundshaft, Club UK, Velvet Underground, Leisure Lounge and the Gardening Club.In 2001 Nick launched Reform Recordings, a label renowned for pushing quality underground house, achieving worldwide sales in vinyl and digital format and featuring in the pages of DJ, IDJ, DMC, Update, M8, TTR, Resident Advisor and 365 Mag. Reform has received Club and Radio support from an incredible variety of DJ’s and producers including X-Press 2, Tom Stephan, John Digweed, Rui Da Silva, Paul Woolford and Lottie (Radio One). The label has mainly featured Nick’s own productions recording under the names of Nick Dare, Overdrive and Liquid Dreams.Around the same time Nick secured a residency at London club night Prologue which ran for three years or so at both The Cross and then EGG before moving to its current home East Village in 2008. Over the years Nick has played alongside some of the worlds most pioneering djs including David Morales, Satoshi Tomiie, Terry Francis, Brett Johnson, Dj Heather, Norman Jay, Inland Knights, Matt Tolfrey, Giles Smith, Rocky & Diesel (X Press 2), Terry Farley and Trevor Fung. With over 15 years experience Nick’s DJ sets are highly sought after and encompass a sublime mix of underground house and tech grooves. In edition to his residency at Prologue Nick continues to appear at some of the UK’s most influential clubs and parties. Recent highlights include Fabric, Kerfuffle, Bar 54 and Dex as well as sets in Europe. Production wise Nick has continued to release tracks and remixes on notorious labels like Lost My Dog Records, Tango, Wiggle, Detour and many more. These tracks have picked up regular support from djs such as Darren Emerson, Laurent Garnier, M.A.N.D.Y, Hipp-E, Mark Farina, Inland Knights, Robert Owens, Jay Tripwire and Lawnchair Generals to name a few. His tracks have been featured in various famous compilations which include Bora Bora Black White Beach, Deep in House vol 3, Queen Club Paris, and Terryble Planet mixed by DJ terry (France). Nick’s productions have also been remixed by huge talents Burnski and Pete Moss.
