I meet a lot of very hard working people on this podcast and Donal Skehan must be up there with one of the hardest working of them all. He's a true grafter and someone I really admire. After spending years in the music industry, and with a couple of Irish number 1s under his belt, Donal followed his lifelong passion for food and created a remarkable career for himself in that world. He has over 11 cookbooks, countless TV shows, a meal planning web platform (donalskitchen.com), a collab with Dunnes Stores and many others strings to his bow.And on top of all that, Donal has recently become embroiled in a wonderfully frivolous and entertaining Eurosong feud, involving contenstent Samantha Mumba, and his fellow judges Laura Fox, Arthur Gourounlian and Bambi Thug. It has been described by comedian Joanne McNally as the “showbiz feud Ireland needs and deserves”, and personally I'd have to agree with her. This week we're watching our fiancée die in increasingly hilarious ways, as we kick off our time-travel theme month SepTIMEber with an early 2000s forgotbuster that's better left in the past. It's 2002's The Time Machine, directed by Simon Wells, written by John Logan, and starring Guy Pearce, Jeremy Irons, Orlando Jones, Mark Addy, Samantha Mumba, Omero Mumba and Sienna Guillory. The story of a man driven mad by loss and the desire to change the past, it's a movie that was directed by H.G. Wells' great-grandson, a somewhat notable name in 90s animation tasked with making what would prove to be his one and only live-action feature. While there are a handful of technically impressive elements on display here, we're not gonna lie: this was a rough watch, a tough start for what we hope will be rip-roaring month of fun for the next three weeks. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, which this week we absolutely do not recommend, well... good luck, babe! The Time Machine is not streaming anywhere north of the border, and Hayley had to watch it on a weird Chinese pirate video website that undoubtedly loaded her computer with viruses. Other works discussed in this episode include Adam Sandler: Love You, Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh, Don't Mess With The Zohan, The Wedding Singer, Strange Darling, Cuckoo, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland (2010), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Avengers: Endgame, L.A. Confidential, Memento, Mars Needs Moms, and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. We'll be back next Friday as SepTIMEber continues with a rare misfire from the late great Richard Donner, as we finally catch up with 2003's Timeline, starring Paul Walker, Frances O'Connor and Gerard Butler. Timeline is not currently streaming in Canada, though perhaps our American listeners will have better luck with that. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

The Time Machine is a 2002 American science fiction film loosely adapted by John Logan from the 1895 novel of the same name by H. G. Wells and the screenplay of the 1960 film of the same name. The film stars Guy Pearce, Orlando Jones, Samantha Mumba, Mark Addy, and Jeremy Irons. The film is set in New York City instead of London, and contains new story elements not present in the original novel nor the 1960 film adaptation, including a romantic backstory, a new scenario about how civilization was destroyed, and several new characters such as an artificially intelligent hologram and a Morlock leader. The film received mixed reviews and grossed $123 million worldwide. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Makeup (John M. Elliot Jr. and Barbara Lorenz) at the 75th Academy Awards, but lost to Frida. This was Jake L's pick, yet we had all seen the movie before. But which of us liked The Time Machine in 2022? What's your favourite time travel movie?  Ok, fine, Back to the Future.  What's your second favourite?  Right, I can see we're going to be here for a while.  The Time Machine 2002 anyone?  Anyone?  No?  Just me?  Alright then... This week we're talking about everyone's 43rd favourite time travel movie, The Time Machine 2002, starring Guy Pierce, Samantha Mumba, Orlando Jones and Jeremy Irons.  We discuss poor lighting decisions and the ridiculousness of made-up futures (because they should be real futures, no?), while wondering how 800,000 years can pass, the English language is all but lost (except when the script needs it to not be) and yet the Irish accent has somehow survived.   We play our usual games and give you all your favourite segments, while keeping it clean.  No one likes a crass podcast, Si. And as a special BONUS for you lovely listeners, we have a spoilery chat at the very end of the show about the new Scream movie, so stay tuned for that, or, if you haven't seen it yet and don't want it spoiled, you can turn us off before we start talking about it.   So put on your best bowler hats and sit back and bask in our dulcet tones as we snark our way through episode 12.  Enjoy!   MUSIC TRACKS:  Modern Funk Groove by StudioEtude. #24 Sean Bean's Pound Shop Subterfuge - Richard proves he is down with the cool kids by chatting to his teenage fans about skateboards and exams before introducing a man who is at home driving a Bronto-crane as he is befriending a talking snowman as he is having a friend who travels through time and gets off with Samantha Mumba whilst he waits around in Victorian London twiddling his thumbs, it's bona fide Hollywood superstar Mark Addy. Will he live up to Richard's hopes and be as nice and down-to-earth as he appears to be on screen or will it all go a bit Game of Thrones? There are some great insights into how he was persuaded to do some of his films, what happens when you go to a pub with your name, what it must be like to be in Chris Rock's posse, and how Sean Bean gets cheap shampoo. I’m delighted to kick off season 7 of "Fascinated" with the fabulous Samantha Mumba. Samantha is pop royalty and after an almost unforgivable hiatus she returned to music last December with a double whammy of releases. She dropped two new tracks “Cool” and “Process” within weeks of each other.  Samantha shot to fame in 2000 with the worldwide smash hit “Gotta Tell You”. She followed it with a string of hits and a huge debut album which sold 4 million copies. She then cared out a successful movie career which started with her starring in the Hollywood feature film “Time Machine”.  This episode was recorded on 20th December 2020 at the Set Theatre in Kilkenny as part of The Cat Cast. The Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival could not run last year because of Covid so in December some comedians live streamed the recording of podcasts from the stage of the empty Set Theatre in Kilkenny. Samantha Zoomed in from her home in Los Angeles.  If you would like to support Fascinated you can subscribe to HPN+ on http://headstuffpodcasts.com where for just €5 a month you can listen to bonus content from all of the shows on the network including Fascinated. She is THE 'Leoness'    There's a wave of incredible black RnB artists in Ireland right now. Soulé, Jafaris, Rejjie Snow to name a few and thankfully it doesn't look like crashing any time soon. Surfing on this welcome sea of amazing new music is Erica Cody. Muireann didn't touch her hair! ;-) The Dubliner has supported En Vogue and Jessie J and speaks to Muireann about how she found writing songs was a real therapy (her Mother had cancer when she was ten), her plans and D.T.MH. ! Erica's debut EP 'Leoness' is out today and features  'Where U Really From' . The song is inspired by growing up in Ireland as a mixed race female where she gets asked that question almost on a daily basis. "Where are you from?" "Dublin" "No, but really!?" It can get pretty tiring Erica wants people to own their identity, being it gender, race or sexuality. “I’m black. I’m Irish. I am me.” Listen to her perform 'Where U Really From' live on The Muireann O'Connell show: [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2019/04/12133907/ERICA-CODY-WHERE-YOU-REALY-FROM.mp3"][/audio] Listen to her perform one of her heroes.
