The decline in this franchise is frankly shocking. A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5: Dream Child (1989) follows its predecessor in a massive downward spiral. Is it worse than the previous film? Probably not, however the sting of the franchise's failure is becoming more painful as the awful entries continue. As usual this film does have the expected elements, but it finds a way to meander so much that it feels like a movie with no soul. Soulless or not we have a job to do here. Is it essential? The idea for a movie pitting Freddy Krueger against Jason Voorhees actually dates all the back to 1987 when New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures started talking about a crossover film following the success of “Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors” and “Friday the 13 the Part VI: Jason Lives.” Sadly, neither studio wanted to give up rights to the other character to make the film so the ambitious plans fell to the wayside. Talks about putting the two slasher icons into a single movie continued to bubble up over the years but it wasn't until 1999 when the project really started to get support from the studios again. Over $6 million was reportedly spent on various scripts but eventually writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon came up with an idea that everybody liked, which eventually led to Ronny Yu being hired as a director. Robert Englund returned for the eighth time to play Freddy while Ken Kirzinger was hired to portray Jason Voorhees despite early talks that Kane Hodder would come back to play the hockey mask killer again. When the film finally opened in 2003, the long awaited showdown landed at No. 1 at the box office for two weeks in a row as fans flocked to the theater to see two titans of horror square off…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to load up on hypnocil and jump in a van bound for Camp Crystal Lake as we review “Freddy vs. Jason”… Music courtesy of Andrew Scott Bell

We're back to discuss the 1985 slasher film, A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 in all of its homo erotic glory! We delve into the controversy that has surrounded this film for almost 40 years, and talk about its 2 companion pieces "Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Jesse's Lost Journal". Why can Freddy now be supernatural in the real world after that couldn't happen in Part 1? Why is this the only film where Freddy possesses someone? Why is this gym teacher so abusive? Why did that bird explode? And where the heck are the nightmares!? We talk about that all and more in this episode! Follow us everywhere! Instagram: @SantaMiraAfterDark Twitter: @SantaMiraADPod
This week, Rob O'Neill returns for the 2019 documentary, Scream, Queen! My Nightmare On Elm Street. This film reexamines the incredibly obvious gay “subtext” in the controversial sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, and the film's impact on the life of it's lead actor, Mark Patton. Is “beefy hairy men” in your search history? Did Kai's cat pee? Can Ghostface yes, and? “Don't come at my daddy!” - Rob O'Neill Rob encourages you to snuggle up with cats on a winter day and to check out Crossroads Comedy Theater at xroadscomedy.com for information about upcoming shows and classes, available both virtually and in person. Kicking off the start of our 4th full year with a part 4; “A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 4: The Dream Master”. How do they raise up the dead Fred Kreuger this time? You'll have to listen to… Oh the hell with it, a dog pees fire onto his grave. Yeah. “Clever, but I think you may be missing a point with this deviled egg situation.” I thought about for a second, continuing to shiver on the concrete floor. Maybe there was a texture thing missing? Some tiny dices of celery?

The seconds Nightmare on Elm Street movie took a very different approach to the mythology of Freddy Krueger. More of a haunted house and possession movie, Freddy's Revenge was rushed into production after the success of the first film in the series. While its merits as a slasher movie and an entry in the Nightmare series are debatable, the not-so-subtle subtext about the main character has become what the movie is best known for. Listen as we discuss all of this and more as we look at A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's revenge in the second part of a ten-episode franchise retrospective for the Nightmare on Elm Street series!

In this episode Wayne and Tim interview actor Robert Rusler. Robert is well known for his roles in A Nightmare on Elm St. part 2, Weird Science, Vamp, and Thrashin'. We get to get a little inside info on his life as a teen actor, working with some of the biggest names in the biz, and how he managed to overcome the pitfalls of a young actor lifestyle. We also talk about the upcoming and completed films he is writing and producing including Black Asylum. Robert Rusler - actor, athlete, writer, and natural performer - was born on September 20, 1965, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He soon moved to Hawaii, where he lived on Waikiki Beach and started surfing and skateboarding on a semi-professional level. At a young age his family moved to Los Angeles, where he began his martial arts career and entered many competitions. Then the bug struck to become an actor and Robert, right out of high school, met his manager and began taking acting classes at the Loft Studio with Peggy Feury and William Traylor. Soon thereafter he landed his first starring role, opposite Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey Jr. in John Hughes Weird Science (1985). He then starred opposite Marshall Bell and Robert Englund in A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) . Later projects included Thrashin' (1986) opposite Josh Brolin (and all of his top professional skateboarding idols) and _Vamp (1986/I)_ opposite Grace Jones and Chris Makepeace, for which he received the award for Best Actor in a Science Fiction or Horror Film.
