Barry, Abigail, and special guest Bill Boyle (finally) discuss Bill's “Phone-a-Friend” submission, Tim by The Replacements, and sample Senate Beer, Raised By Wolves, and Big Tomorrow from Right Proper Brewing Company in Washington, DC.Barry first discovered The Replacements after friends of the pod Terry Anderson and Jack Cornell performed (as members of The Woods) a cover of The Replacements' Can't Hardly Wait. Evidently, The Woods and The ‘Mats crossed paths many a time when both bands were actively touring the East Coast circuit. In fact, Barry commented that the dark humorous writing of Waitress in the Sky is similar to Terry's Anderson's writing style.Bill referenced this ad for Piels Beer. This album has been remixed by Ed Stasium, a producer and engineer who worked on albums by The Ramones, Talking Heads, and The Smithereens! Not everyone finds their way to the other side of darkness. Yet, there is hope in witnessing the depth and commitment of a person willing to try to be better without knowing exactly how. In RAISED BY WOLVES, POSSIBLY MONSTERS: FROM MOBSTER TO REIKI MASTER - author MICHAEL SWERDLOFF captures his own struggle to transcend his past of crime and abuse - and imagine an entirely new future for himself premised on compassion, care, and advocacy. As a boy, Michael was taught to choose violence and aggression. As a young adult, Michael saw women as his to take and lied, cheated, and scammed his way through life. All along, Michael really wanted to be kind and loving and a protector of women - but ended up being what they needed protection from. During his dark days as a mobster - Michael had a loaded gun put to his head and was shot at more than once, was stabbed, and was attacked with a baseball bat. He conned, hustled and stole from other criminals, drug dealers and gangs. That was over 30 years ago – and since then Michael has turned his life completely around shifting to a life of a counselor helping give men insights, experiences and potential steps to shift their mindset and behavior. And for women who have had problematic men in their life, Michael helps them understand why many men act the way they do, and that they can change. The book is a story about hope and teaching men that they can be the person they always knew they could be.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Editors - Claire Simpson and Sam Restivo GLADIATOR 2 editors Claire Simpson and Sam Restivo first teamed up when Sam worked as her assistant editor on the tv series RAISED BY WOLVES (2020). From there, Claire brought Sam as her assistant to his first Ridley Scott feature, THE LAST DUEL (2021). He would assist Claire one more time for Scott's HOUSE OF GUCCI (2021) before getting the promotion to co-editor for NAPOLEON (NAPOLEON). Released twenty-four years after the original GLADIATOR (2000) film, GLADITAOR 2 takes place sixteen years after young Lucius witnesses the death of Maximus at the hands of his uncle. In the long-awaited sequel, Lucius must enter the Colosseum after the powerful emperors of Rome conquer his home. With rage in his heart and the future of the empire at stake, he looks to the past to find the strength and honor needed to return the glory of Rome to its people. CLAIRE SIMPSON Claire first worked for Ridley Scott on his 1987 film SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME. Even though that was only her fifth film credit, she was already an Oscar-winning editor having won the big prize for cutting PLATOON (1986) the year prior. She also cut director Oliver Stone's film SALVADOR (1986) during that time. Claire would go on to do other films with both Oliver Stone and obviously Ridley Scott, and she would also receive an Oscar nomination for her work on the 2006 film, THE CONSTANT GARDENER. SAM RESTIVO Aside from his work with Claire Simpson and Ridley Scott, Sam has worked as an assistant editor on TV series like THE WALKING DEAD (2014) and BETTER CALL SAUL (2015) as well as being an additional editor for features such as THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (2017) and ROBIN HOOD (2018). “Humans are puny thing by comparison. I often ask myself, ‘why is it that wolves don't kill people?' Or it's extremely rarely. I mean, it does exist, but it's almost totally off the charts. Unlike tigers and lions and leopards and cougars and bears, especially up here, every year there may be a person or two that may get killed up here in Alaska from brown bears. There's lots of big carnivores that do occasionally cross the line and kill humans. But why not wolves? And if you look at these different predators, it has a lot to do, I think, with how they're raised.” – Dr. Paul Joslin Dr. Paul Joslin is a wildlife biologist who has spent decades with wolves and other predators in the US, Canada, India and Iran. His wolf research began in Ontario in the 1960s at a time when we did not know a lot about the daily lives of wolves. His is stories are extraordinary. He lived alone in the wilderness for months at a time, tracking wolves to gain a deeper understanding of their lives. He did this before google maps, before there were even trails in many of these places, so he created his own. His knowledge and wisdom on wolves go deep, while his work took him all over the world. I have been on a quest to understand the wolf hatred that seems to permeate the United States, especially Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, where we are currently slaughtering all of our wolves, but it's not just here, wolf hatred is global – as humans everywhere seem to abhor these remarkable animals. So, I asked Paul to come on the show and give his two cents as to why so many humans fear and hate an animal that does almost zero harm to us.

In this light, fun episode just in time for the holiday season, Danielle and Adam ask the hosts of this popular "etiquette-ish" podcast about everything from tipping, to regifting, to what to do when you seriously just don't want to go to that party. Danielle reveals what weird thing happened when she neglected to send a thank you note to an older member of her extended family after having her first child, and Adam asks if it's ok for customers to just leave their crap all over the aisles. Are snail-mail thank you notes ever going to be a thing of the past? Is it rude to invite guests to a party that starts way too late at night? Listen to hear Danielle and Adam find out if their thoughts on these topics are appropriate, or just plain incorrect.
