What does it mean to be a responsible steward? How can we make a difference in the world in which we live? Today's guest, Benny Braden was hiking near his home in eastern Tennessee and he began to notice trash along the trails, and he began picking the trash up. In some places the trash was immense. Left over tents, beer cans, food packaging, and more were littered everywhere. Taking it upon himself, he began a campaign of cleaning up our public lands. And “Responsible Stewardship” was founded. A non-profit organization that works to keep our public lands clean and trash free. Benny, is also a PTSD survivor and a follower of Christ. In this show we discuss his hikes across the globe and how Responsible Stewardship came into being as well has his personal faith journey.

Dave does an excellent job of outlining what measures we can take on a personal level to insulate ourselves, and our families, from these budget crushing costs. The good news is that solar power plays a huge role in controlling these expenses and providing price protection for homeowners and business owners who choose to exercise their energy independence. The source of the fuel is free, (the sun), and harvesting it's energy will put a smile on your face when the next power bill arrives.Support the show

Bill's conversation with Dave Jenkins, President - Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship. Dave goes into great detail about the consequences of the potential passage of Florida HB 741 which is currently on the desk of Governor DeSantis, awaiting his signature. This bill involves solar "net metering", a provision which provides fair compensation for homeowners and business owners who invest in solar power and send their excess energy from the sun...back to the utility grid to be used to reduce the necessity to produce more power from traditional fossil fuel sources. This bill, if passed, would undermine the current energy policy for the Sunshine State and prevent a competitive marketplace while protecting utility monopolies' profits. Passage will result in unnecessary price increases in utility rates. At a time when we need every available kilowatt to reduce our dependence upon importing natural gas from other states, this legislation simply does not make sense. Dave details the potential economic loss for our state by discouraging businesses with clean energy initiatives from locating their operations here. Recent polls have shown that 84% of Floridians are in favor of keeping "net metering" which benefits every citizen. In spite of this unprecedented number, vested interests are still moving to negate personal freedom of choice and consequently driving up utility costs for all. The basic questions regarding this bill are:Should the utilities be allowed to make a fair profit? Of course, they should. Should homeowners and business owners be allowed to be fairly compensated as well? Of course, they should. Thank you, Dave, for sharing this important information with our listening audience. If you are concerned about the direction the Sunshine State is heading, please take a moment to call Governor DeSantis's office today at (850) 717-9337 and urge him to veto HB 741 to protect the citizens of Florida and keep us on the path to a clean energy future. Hear Bill's interview with Dave Jenkins, President, Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship. Dave does an excellent job of outlining the benefits of solar power utilization to assure energy independence for America. Dave also provides time sensitive information, and a "citizens alert", about new bills just introduced in Tallahassee, that if enacted, could potentially derail the growth of solar and job creation in Florida, the Sunshine State. The bills that Dave references are SB 1024 and HB 741. He encourages everyone who believes in personal freedom and job creation to contact their Florida Senator and House Representative and let them know that as Florida citizens and constituents, they want these bills soundly defeated. Thanks Dave, for the education and for taking time to share this important information with our listening audience. OK folks, let's follow Dave's advice and let our Legislator's know that the current "net metering" laws are of benefit for all and that anyone who decides to invest in a home or business solar power system should be compensated fairly for their contribution of free, clean energy to the grid.Support the show (https://solar-fit.com/contact-us/)

In a special interview, Paul talks to Dave Jenkins, President of Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship, about the Federal Oil & Gas Leasing System in New Mexico. Financial stability is a driving motivation for most people. We typically want to make enough money to be able to provide the basic necessities for ourselves and our families while having enough left over to support a fun hobby or some form of entertainment. Of course, there are different opinions on what is a basic necessity and what is a reasonable expenditure on entertainment. In American society, we usually give each other great latitude in accepting these personal decisions. After all, if a person earned a large amount of money through their hard work or unique gifts, they deserve to use that money any way they desire. In some ways, scripture supports this point of view, but there also seems to be a preference for the poor. This week we will reflect on Jesus's comments to his disciples as he made observations of worshipers in the temple at Jerusalem. He criticizes the scribes who seek reverence from the community while also being callous in their treatment of the poor and those who are suffering. And when he sees a poor widow offering two small copper coins, he commends her generosity. This Sunday we will reflect on the gifts we have received from God and consider what it means to be a responsible steward of those gifts.
