A month after the Luka Dončić trade, the Dallas Mavericks traveled to Los Angeles to face off against the Lakers. Jason and Steve Kim point out that despite the Lakers' 107-99 victory, the Mavericks showed signs of dominance — even with Anthony Davis still recovering from injury. During the game, many Lakers fans started a “Thank you, Nico” chant, referring to the Dallas Mavericks' general manager, who is widely blamed for greenlighting the Doncic trade. But should he really take the fall? In other news, President Trump has extended an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House. WNBA star and surefire Hall of Famer Diana Taurasi has officially retired from basketball. But if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound? Meanwhile, sports gambling has spiraled out of control, and NIL has created a breeding ground for widespread corruption. Yet the media refuse to address it — because they're in bed with the sharks. On the non-sports side, Zaya Wade, the transgender son of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, graces the cover of Seventeen magazine. Joy Reid has been fired from MSNBC, and the network doubled down on DEI-driven minority hires with the likes of Eugene Daniels and Symone Sanders. Texas Democrat Rep. SEASON 3 EPISODE 101: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and replaced him with a junior officer he brought back from retirement whom HE claims once wore a MAGA cap in his presence. Then he fired the Judge Advocate of the army, the Judge Advocate of the Navy, and the Judge Advocate of the Air Force. What you have been told by news organizations – even ones that still have good reporters – that this is part of the Trump Racism Orgy. The fired Joint Chiefs Chairman Charles Q. Brown is black. The Chief of Naval Operations was a woman. Their identities are cover stories and red meat for the Trump cult. Trump looked at the top lawyers at the Army, Navy and Air Force, the ones who would tell him, no, you can’t have the Army shoot civilians, and you can’t have the Navy blockade Vancouver and Greenland and the Panama Canal, and you can’t bomb the next Democratic convention… and he fired them. At least six different reporters and commentators on the military beat said the same thing. Firing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is bad and a red flag. Firing the T-JAGS, the Judge Advocates, the lawyers who tell you when something you are going to do with the military is illegal… can mean only one thing… you are planning to do something with the military that is illegal. You fire the people who would SAY it’s illegal and replace them with people who would say it ISN’T illegal. There are degrees of nightmare ahead. They all amount to different versions of Trump's plot to permanently take over the government by using the military. B-Block (26:20) THE FIRING OF JOY REID: Yes, firing her is racist and maybe worse yes it is designed to keep out people who might think differently and it is designed to reward professional political salespeople like party chairmen and press secretaries. But most of all, since they also fired Alex Wagner, it means that four women of color have solo hosted prominent shows ON MSNBC and all four of them have now been fired. C-Block (58:00) SPORTSBALL CENTRAL: I could not have been more wrong about hockey's Four Nations Faceoff. But at least I wasn't as wrong as Wayne Gretzky, now under deserved attack in Canada as a remorseless Trumpist, and rapidly becoming The Man Without A Country. (1:11:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Senator Thom Tillis begins to suck up to Trump. Jared Polis, "Democratic" governor of Colorado, should resign. So too should Phil Murphy, "Democratic" governor of New Jersey.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hunt accused Leavitt of attacking her CNN colleagues Jake Tapper and Dana Bash by suggesting the two moderators of Thursday's debate have regularly expressed disdain for Donald Trump and support for Joe Biden. A montage pieced together by Newsbusters proves Leavitt's point—Tapper and Bash are not objective. One clip even shows Tapper referring to Trump's presidency as a “national nightmare.” 3:15pm- While visiting Philadelphia on Saturday, former President Donald Trump visited Tony & Nick's Steaks where he left a $500 tip for workers at the sandwich shop! Trump is actively campaigning on ending government taxation on earned tips. 3:30pm- In his latest article, New York Times journalist Michael M. Left-leaning fact-checking website Snopes published a piece Saturday debunking claims promoted by President Biden and some members of the media that following the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, Trump called neo-Nazis ‘very fine people.' During the event, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio made sure she embarrassed herself as well by screaming and dancing on stage like a lunatic. Rep. Bowman may very well lose his primary battle to George Latimer. 5:25pm- While appearing on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's “hush money” trial against Donald Trump was politically motivated. 5:40pm- While appearing on CNN, National Press Secretary for the 2024 Trump Campaign Karoline Leavitt had her interview cut short by anchor Kasie Hunt. One clip even shows Tapper referring to Trump's presidency as a “national nightmare.” 6:05pm- “I think this debate is rigged!” On Friday, from The Grand Hotel of Cape May, Congressman Jeff Van Drew told The Rich Zeoli Show that he believes CNN will stack the deck in favor of President Joe Biden during Thursday's presidential debate. He explains: “President Trump is going before moderators that don't like him—before networks that hate him.” 6:15pm- During a recent segment on MSNBC, hosts Symone Sanders and Michael Steele seemingly defended the Biden Administration's relaxed border policies and admonished Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts for using the term “illegal alien” and were dismissive of crimes committed by those who have entered the country unlawfully. 6:20pm- While speaking from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, Donald Trump hilariously said of Thursday's CNN presidential debate: “[Joe Biden is] sleeping now because they want to get him good and strong. So, a little before debate time he gets a shot in the ass. They want to strengthen him up…he'll come out all jacked up, right? The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (01/11/2024): 3:05pm- On Wednesday night during a campaign appearance in Windham, NH, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced he is suspending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. A recently released University of New Hampshire/CNN poll indicates Haley is trailing former President Donald Trump by only seven-points in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary—39% to 32%. Interestingly, Christie is garnering 12% support. Could Christie's absence put Haley over the top in NH? 3:15pm- Just prior to announcing the suspension of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, Chris Christie was caught on a hot microphone saying that Nikki Haley is going to be “smoked” in the upcoming Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. Does this make endorsing Haley, as many presumed he would, impossible now? 3:20pm- On Thursday, Donald Trump's team delivered its closing arguments in a civil fraud trial in which New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that the former president inflated the value of assets controlled by the Trump Organization in past financial statements. If Trump loses the case, he could face up to $370 million in fines and penalties as well as being permanently prohibited from doing business in the state of New York. Notably, in 2018, while campaigning to become Attorney General, James vowed to “sue” Trump—providing evidence to the defense's argument that this civil suit is entirely political.   3:40pm- Jonah E. Bromwich, Ben Protess, and Kate Christobek of The New York Times write: “Donald J. Trump on Thursday delivered abrupt remarks in his own defense on the final day of his civil fraud trial in Manhattan, attacking the New York attorney general, who brought the case, insulting the judge to his face and declaring himself ‘an innocent man.'Mr. Trump's remarks…lasted only minutes, during which he impugned the attorney general, Letitia James, a Democrat, saying she ‘hates Trump and uses Trump to get elected.' He also took aim at the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, remarking, ‘You have your own agenda, I certainly understand that.' He added, as the judge stared stonily at him, ‘You can't listen for more than one minute.' Justice Engoron instructed the former president's lawyer to ‘control your client.' But Mr. Trump continued until the lunch break, at which point he stopped as suddenly as he had started. The episode ushered in a dramatic conclusion to a monthslong trial that has enraged the former president and threatens his family business.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/01/11/nyregion/trump-fraud-trial 4:05pm- Jonah E. Simultaneously, former President—and Republican primary front runner—Donald Trump held a town hall hosted by Fox News. 4:20pm- Jonah Bromwich, The New York Times reporter who is inside the courtroom for Donald Trump's civil fraud case, writes: “As [Andrew] Amer, the state lawyer, is explaining it, the case for Trump's intent rests on his responsibility for the annual financial statements, Michael Cohen's testimony and some of the gaps in Trump's own testimony. But thus far, there is no real smoking gun that shows that Trump intended to commit fraud—the evidence is mostly circumstantial.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/01/11/nyregion/trump-fraud-trial 4:35pm- John Yoo— the Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley & a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit hearing arguments to determine the validity of Donald Trump's presidential immunity defense in his federal election subversion indictment. Professor Yoo explains that if Trump's immunity defense is found invalid, we'll have “presidents always worried about what their successors will do to them…which is what we see in banana republics” and could potentially impact the decision-making process of the nation's Commander in Chief. He points out the prosecution of Trump is particularly disturbing given the fact that the Biden Administration's Department of Justice is targeting a major party candidate actively challenging President Joe Biden in an election. 4:50pm- On Thursday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced that tomorrow he is planning to formally endorse a Republican primary candidate for president. Most believe it will be former President Donald Trump. 5:05pm- Lara Jakes of The New York Times writes that a new Pentagon report “found that American officials and diplomats had failed to quickly or fully account for all of the nearly 40,000 weapons sent to the front” in Ukraine. Simultaneously, former President—and Republican primary front runner—Donald Trump held a town hall hosted by Fox News. 6:10pm- Despite placing the bulk of his resources in Iowa, Governor Ron DeSantis trails former President Donald Trump by a whopping 36.4%, according to Real Clear Politics polling averages. Assuming he is unable to close that massive gap by Monday, January 15th—the day of the Iowa caucus—he'll likely drop out of the race. So, what would be next for DeSantis? Perhaps an endorsement of Trump and a 2028 presidential run?   6:20pm- On Thursday, Donald Trump's team delivered its closing arguments in a civil fraud trial in which New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that the former president inflated the value of assets controlled by the Trump Organization in past financial statements. Even Elon Musk felt compelled to set the record straight, praising Community Notes for “exposing deception.” 4:05pm- During an unhinged rant at the 2023 Gotham Awards, Robert DeNiro bizarrely used his acceptance speech to slam Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. 4:10pm- In an interview with Norah O'Donnell on CBS Evening News, retiring Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) said he would be happy to support any Republican candidate for president in 2024 aside from Donald Trump or Vivek Ramaswamy. 4:20pm- On Sunday, Kristen Welker and the Meet the Press panel featuring Symone Sanders and Brendan Buck suggested that Ron DeSantis should end his campaign for president in order to clear a path for Nikki Haley. 4:30pm- In a video that has now gone viral on social media, a disgruntled woman on board a flight from Florida to Philadelphia can be seen urinating in the aisle! Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is alleging that Rock Capital's purchase of Subway amounts to a monopoly which will lead to higher sandwich prices—the private equity firm already owns sandwich shops Jimmy John's and Schlotzky's. The Federal Trade Commission is now investigating the $10 billion acquisition. As Timothy P. Carney notes, how could this acquisition be considered a monopoly: “Consider that Chick-fil-A enjoyed $16 billion in sales in 2021, which is equal to Subway-plus-Arby's-plus Jimmy John's” and that “non-sandwiches, of course, compete with sandwiches,” concluding that there is no way to honestly determine Rock Capital has a monopoly like Sen. Warren suggests. Fox Business reporter Madison Alworth details that U.S. taxpayers are paying more than $450 billion annually providing housing and other necessities for illegal migrants. 5:20pm- Is former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo now considering a run for New York City Mayor? 5:40pm- Many media outlets have leveled brutal attacks against Javier Milei, the president-elect of Argentina, citing his libertarian philosophy towards governance as “dangerous.” Is halting the growth of government via fiscal reform actually dangerous? 6:05pm- While speaking with Abby Phillips on CNN, Congressman Dean Phillips (D-MN) said he would consider using U.S. Special Forces to free American hostages being held by Hamas. Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) seemingly agreed with Phillips' suggestion—and went one step further calling for the Biden Administration to retaliate massively against Iran after its proxies launched numerous attacks against U.S. personnel in the region. Could the United States see increased military involvement in the Middle East? 6:15pm- According to a report from The Washington Post, “[i]n late 2015, cranes at a seaport in Jacksonville, Fla., carefully hoisted U.S. military helicopters worth up to $40 million each onto a massive cargo ship set to deliver the equipment to the Egyptian government. Egypt's Defense Ministry had turned to an unusual figure to help arrange transport of the prized hardware: Wael Hana, an Egyptian American businessman who had previously run a trucking business, a gas station and a truck stop along a gritty, industrial strip in northern New Jersey… Eight years later, Hana's ties to the Egyptian government are under a bright spotlight. After a years-long investigation, U.S. authorities charged him in September with paying bribes to Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and his wife, Nadine Menendez, in exchange for actions that benefited Egypt, including Menendez's promise to help keep military aid flowing to the North African nation. Hana, 40, lavished the couple with gold bars, checks and household furnishings between 2018 and 2022, prosecutors allege, while helping to introduce the senator to Egyptian military and intelligence officers and serving as a go-between for their communications.” You can read the full report from Shawn Boburg, Claire Parker, Terrence McCoy, and Marina Dias here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2023/11/27/bob-menendez-wael-hana-egypt/ 6:30pm- Annoyed by the sound of crunching chips during Zoom conference calls?
