Troy Cross and Bitcoin Bassload Treble + Bass = Energy Grid Harmony   In this electrifying episode of BitBuyBit, Max and Jon speak with energy market expert and Pleb Miner Mafia Capo, Bitcoin Bassload as well as Philosopher and Bitcoin enthusiast Troy Cross from the Bitcoin Policy Institute.   The relationship between Bitcoin mining and the American energy industry is complex, nuanced, wrought with acronyms, oversight, and regulation. The purpose of this conversation is to find where we agree and disagree on the relationship between Bitcoin mining and the energy industry and what we as Pleb Miners can do when our energy is focused and pointed in the same direction. Troy and Bassload come from different perspectives when looking at the relationship between Bitcoin mining and energy, but their hearts and minds are focused on making sure that Bitcoin wins.   In this discussion Bassload defines terms like the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO), and Independent Systems Operators (ISO) and explains how regulation and government policy steer energy markets. He discusses the Physical Grid versus Policy Grid, balancing authorities, generation fleet mix, and Meredith Angwin's fatal trifecta for the grid: over reliance on renewables, backing up the renewables with just in time resources, and overdependence on neighbors. Bassload offers advice on creating relationships with energy providers: 1. Print the load 2. Pay an invoice. Bitcoin Bassload's Energy Market Inflows can be found on his Substack in which he puts out frequent updates.    Troy discusses the unique characteristics of Bitcoin mining and its relationship with energy, particularly in the context of environmentalism and regulatory arbitrage. He highlights that Bitcoin's decentralized nature and algorithmically fixed production makes it resistant to local regulations and taxes. His point in conveying this, is that Bitcoin mining can take advantage of excess energy in regions with corrupt governments, it can bypass restrictions, and potentially disrupt the energy market. The discussion emphasizes that Bitcoin's fundamental value is tied to the cost of energy rather than fiat currency. Over the long term, government regulations and subsidies may not significantly impact Bitcoin mining, or its adoption. Troy expands on this theory in this recent article.   Treble and Bass = Grid Harmony   Terms and Definitions   FERC- FERC was originally called the Federal Power Commission to then become the Federal Regulatory Commission created on October 1 1977. The FPA was originally designed to coordinate federal hydropower development (in 1920) then in 1935 it was given the independent regulatory status to then regulate both hydropower and electricity.  Then in 1938 the natural gas act gave FPA jurisdiction over interstate NG pipelines and wholesale sales.  FERC was created due to a response to the oil crisis of 1973 and thus passing the Department of Energy Organization act of 1977 in an effort to consolidate agencies into a ‘department of energy'. DOE was born.  Congress insisted that the independent regulatory body be retained. FERC originally was to determine whether wholesale electricity prices were unjust and unreasonable  If so regulate the pricing and give some refunds to ratepayers FERC an independent organization that its commissioners are appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate Order 888 was issued in 1996 which created the RTO's (regional transmission organizations) in response to the Energy Policy Act in 1992.       RTO's- Organized by FERC to have what were the former power pools to ‘rebrand' themselves as independent transmission operators that would be able to compete in a wholesale electric market administered by RTO's.  PJM, NYISO and ISONE were first in line. Like an ISO they operate transmission systems and develop innovative procedures to manage transmission equitably.    ISO's- Independent System Operators were designed to consolidate and manage the operation of transmission facilities to provide nondiscriminatory open transmission service for all generators and transmission customers.   Traditional wholesale markets were in the SE, SW and NW and most were vertically integrated where they own generation, transmission and distribution systems to serve electricity consumers.  They also many include federal systems: Bonneville Power System Tennessee Valley Authority Western Area Power Administration   At the wholesale level, the RTO's and the ISO's is managing economic dispatch of generators and its auctions to the clearing price.  Less expensive power gets dispatched first.  RTO controls the bids, they know the cost of fuel, and they know the marginal cost of the next kwh your generator plant makes.  One can add a risk premium to the bids but the RTO's are checking. (Meredith Angwin)    TYPES of RTO's and ISO's CAISO- California Independent System Operator ERCOT- Electric Reliability Council of Texas SPP- SouthWest Power Pool MISO- Midcontinent Independent System Operator (15 states and canadian province of Manitoba)  SouthEast Power Pool PJM- Pennsylvania New Jersey and Maryland NYISO New York Independent System Operator ISONE Independent System operator of New England    Vertically integrated- this is where the same entity owns all of the generation, transmission and distribution to service electricity consumers in the given region that they are in.   PUC's- Public Utility Commission were designed to do a couple of things: Balance the needs of consumers AND utilities  Ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates Protect public interest Educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices Typically the PUC's were designed for the consumer, but they are also heavily “in bed' with the utilities Regulate electric, gas, telecommunications, water and wastewater facilities Typically appointed by the governor serving 4-6 year terms. Typically regulate all investor owned utilities in their state Municipalities and cooperative utilities are often exempt from PUC regulations    PUCs often use non-adjudicatory processes to address new and evolving issues. This would include traditional rulemakings, in addition to informal stakeholder collaborative processes. Over the past decade, the stakeholder process has become one of the mainstays of issue resolution. In these proceedings, professional facilitators are often used and the parties work toward a narrowing of issues or their complete resolution through a negotiated or shared agreement. Typical participants include utilities, ratepayer advocates, environmental advocates, and industry advocates.    Load Shape- the amount of energy consumption one uses, measured in watts or kilowatts over a period of time.  When looking at the curve of how that energy is consumed, the shape of that curve is what is monitored.  If flat, good.  If not and seeing spikes means that the shape is inconsistent with the amount of watts consumed over time   BTU- A British Thermal Unit, the base unit of measure for measuring energy in the US.  a btu is the amount of energy required to heat one pound of water    Joule- joule, unit of work or energy in the International System of Units (SI); it is equal to the work done by a force of one newton acting through one metre. Named in honour of the English physicist James Prescott Joule, it equals 107 ergs, or approximately 0.7377 foot-pounds.   Watt- the SI unit of power, equivalent to one joule per second, corresponding to the power in an electric circuit in which the potential difference is one volt and the current one ampere. 1 watt = 1J/s   Baseload- Baseload electricity generation creates 24/7 power to the grid to meet the base energy needs of the U.S. While peaking generation must follow the varying hourly electricity needs as demand rises and falls, base load generation operates constantly to support the increment of demand that is always there no matter the time of day or day of the week. https://energytransition.nema.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/NEMA-QuickFacts-Baseloadgeneration.pdf   Balancing Authority- The BA makes sure that the supply of power on the grid is exactly matched with the requirement for power always.  The BA must keep voltage within a narrow range and balance demand on the grid.  The BA must also make sure that the VARs (Volts Amps Reactive) are in balance. Refer to page 28-30 of shorting the grid.  “A well run grid is like a good bicyclist on a smooth road, while a more difficult grid (more sudden ups and downs in power or energy requirements) requires more of a balancing-type energy (Meredith Angwin).  60Hz or 60 cycles per second in the US 50HZ or 50 cycles per second everywhere else The responsible entity that integrates resource plans ahead of time, maintains load-interchange-generation balance within a balancing authority area, and supports interconnection frequency in real time.   Energy Auction House- mentioned above and see pages of Mereidth Angwins book shorting the grid pages 91-93   Generation Fleet Mix Nuclear  Coal Natural Gas Oil Hydro Solar Wind Geothermal   Renewable energy- Renewable energy is energy produced from sources like the sun and wind that are naturally replenished and do not run out. Renewable energy can be used for electricity generation, space and water heating and cooling, and transportation. Non-renewable energy, in contrast, comes from finite sources that could get used up, such as fossil fuels like coal and oil. (DOE definition) energy from a source that is not depleted when used, such as wind or solar power. "the environmental benefits of renewable energy" (Oxford Dictionary)   Net Zero- net zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible, with any remaining emissions re-absorbed from the atmosphere, by oceans and forests for instance. To ‘go net zero' is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and/or to ensure that any ongoing emissions are balanced by removals. (university of oxford) REC- Renewable Energy Credits A renewable energy certificate, or REC (pronounced: rěk, like wreck), is a market-based instrument that represents the property rights to the environmental, social, and other non-power attributes of renewable electricity generation. RECs are issued when one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity is generated and delivered to the electricity grid from a renewable energy resource. RECs include several data attributes, including:* Certificate data Certificate type Tracking system ID Renewable fuel type Renewable facility location Nameplate capacity of project Project name Project vintage (build date) Certificate (generation) vintage Certificate unique identification number Utility to which project is interconnected Eligibility for certification or renewable portfolio standard (RPS) Emissions rate of the renewable resource *Note: This list is not exhaustive and, depending on the market in which the REC is generated, other attributes may be associated with the certificate   Three buckets  o   financial- everything to do with pricing, hedging, derivative markets for energy, from wholesale to retail  o   physical- infrastructure related, engineering and design of the implementation and installation of large equipment o   regulatory- politics, rules and regulation from governing bodies aka FERC, DOE, PUC, ISO, RTO and alike.   We hope this to be the first of many discussions on Bitcoin's relationship with energy markets and energy providers. At the start of 2022, What Bitcoin Did actively searched for progressive voices within the community. It was soon apparent that there was a huge untapped well of thoughtful and brilliant people who had identified the powerful impact Bitcoin could have in supporting progressive causes. However, it is apparent that there is now a shift happening within the left: a fracturing of beliefs and approaches. Some progressives within Bitcoin are starting to align themselves with a more holistic ideology predicated on financial fairness, which is open to debate and collaboration with those on the other side of the aisle. At the root of this conversion is the belief that the promotion and use of Bitcoin itself is a political act. As Margot states: “it's an act of defiance”, but an act of defiance with teeth. Finally, activists have a tool that can take on the established centres of power. But, if we are to accelerate adoption and battle those who work against Bitcoin, education and advocacy still require a solid evidence base. Unfortunately, the FUD directed at Bitcoin has left an ingrained stain in the minds of many progressives. Margot, one of the main people within our community looking to bring academic rigour to support the claims being made about Bitcoin's societal benefits, has suffered directly as a result of this. She has effectively been kicked out of university because of her desire to study Bitcoin, by people with a progressive ideology. We must all do what we can to support people like Margot and Troy. Troy Cross is a Professor of Philosopher and Fellow at BPI, and Harry Sudock is Chief Strategy Officer at Griid. This interview was a live recording made at the Bitcoin 2023 Conference in Miami, where we discussed Bitcoin mining: the industry's rapid evolution, how it's optimising other markets, and why its relentless search for cheap energy will facilitate human flourishing. - - - - Bitcoin mining has been the subject of much controversy and debate in mainstream media. The infamous New York Times (NYT) article in April still casts a shadow over the industry: the piece characterised Bitcoin mining as an exploitative parasite feeding off cheap energy at the expense of local users and the environment. And yet, Bitcoin mining is the exact opposite. As Troy Cross states in this live interview, when people get to hear the truth about Bitcoin mining's impact on energy systems it “blows their minds!” Harry Sudock adds more colour by explaining how Bitcoin mining is a black hole that sucks in economic utility and spits it out in its most efficient form, making it a revolutionary tool for human flourishing. Both speakers criticize the media for pushing a biased agenda and cherry-picking data to fit a preconceived narrative. They argue that the truth about Bitcoin mining's impact on energy systems is more complex than the media portrays, but, this doesn't provide the clickbait media outlets are after. The irony is that the NYT's mission is “to seek the truth and help people understand the world.” However, we are optimistic that the tide will soon turn. With this show, both Harry and Troy have been on What Bitcoin Did now a combined 13 times (lucky for us!), and they continue to blow our minds with their tales of the possible worlds opened up by the race for cheap and abundant energy. The other side just doesn't have the calibre of persuasive, authentic and enthusiastic voices we have.

“It's really exciting for me to see the transfer from… what the best we could do was plugging in 800 FPGAs to our father-in-law's warehouse, to today where we're signing some of the largest energy contracts in America, we're building the backbone of our electric systems day by day, we're integrating across core human infrastructure. In this interview, we discuss the potential ethical implications of AI, philosophical reflections on money creation and governance, the importance of financial literacy, and combating misinformation about Bitcoin.  - - - -  One of the important groups to emerge within the Bitcoin community over the past few years has been the philosophers studying Bitcoin, led by members of the Resistance Money collective: Andrew Bailey, Bradley Rettle and Craig Warmke (with Troy Cross as an honorary member). They have added academic weight to the consideration of the importance of Bitcoin in the context of fundamental questions regarding money's role in society.  The Resistance Money collective has been examining Bitcoin from various angles. In the episode, Bradley discusses moral dilemmas posed by a material global transition to this new form of money: the transfer of wealth, energy consumption impacts, the acceptance of privacy for bad and good, and usage by enemies. In addition, considerations about the benefits provided by fiat currency that could be lost: e.g. is there a useful societal function provided by money printing?  But this is where philosophical tools are extremely useful. In a previous episode, Craig Warmke explained the usefulness of the ‘veil of ignorance' thought experiment, where one assumes they have no knowledge of what position in society they would have, and, from this position, they then determine what monetary system would best serve society for the great good. It is this perspective that is used to establish the Resistence Money thesis on Bitcoin. In a scenario where you could fall into any position in society, it would obviously be better that Bitcoin existed. It is the philosophical equivalent of checking your privilege. Whilst Bitcoin's potential impact on society is complex and uneven, it is far easier to understand how Bitcoin acts to mitigate global inequality and inequity when assuming a scenario where you need it and it doesn't exist.

Troy Cross is a Professor of Philosopher and Fellow at BPI, & Shaun Connell is Executive VP of Power at Lancium & energy trading expert. In this interview, we discuss the evolution of the Bitcoin mining and energy debate: how Bitcoin mining has weathered the storm of FUD over its energy usage to become a tool that fixes an ever-increasing number of energy-related issues. - - - - Roy Sheinfeld, CEO of Breez, last week used the following analogy to highlight expanding knowledge of the Lightning Network's application: "The first industrial use of steam engines was to pump water out of mines, but nobody talks about that because the engines were stationary and hidden in the dark. Three generations later, inventors started adding wheels to the engines. Setting that power free and bringing it into the light made everyone take notice, and that's when steam changed everything." The same applies to the whole Bitcoin ecosystem, particularly in relation to Bitcoin mining. Since 2019, there has been a growing realisation that Bitcoin provides a multitude of benefits to producers, operators and consumers of energy. There are also an increasing number of ancillary applications being realised in other areas. So, is it time for Bitcoiners to become more emboldened in their advocacy of Bitcoin mining? There's an available body of evidence showing the important role that Bitcoin mining is playing in supporting Texas's energy grid. It is right to state that some of the resultant conclusions seem counterintuitive i.e. how can an energy user assist with energy supply? However, it merely takes an open mind, a willingness to question, and a capacity to learn, to realise that Bitcoin mining provides an important societal good. Paradigm shifts are always met with suspicion. The issue is we're on the right side of history. Therefore, should we use someone's views on Bitcoin mining as a test of their intelligence and humility? Is it time to be more assertive in responding to those who refuse to believe their eyes and ears? After all, they are the ones who refuse to be humble.

In this week's episode of Bitcoin Bottom Line, hosts C.J. Wilson and Josh Olszewicz are joined by an expert in the crypto space, Troy Cross. He is an academic philosopher and has been a Bitcoiner since 2011. He also describes himself as an environmentalist and is not afraid of controversy. Cross discusses his opinions on ESG and believes that its critics should be listened to. “My own vision is Bitcoin having a minimal environmental impact. Bitcoin mining is constantly changing, and miners are constantly trying to find more environmentally friendly ways to mine.” Cross describes some of the ways that miners are trying to counteract the negative impacts of Bitcoin on our environment. Some of the early members in the Bitcoin space have created a way to give us pure water from Bitcoin. They use the heat from ASIC chips to distill the water. The heat from the chip alone is not enough, but when you put water under the negative pressure of a vacuum, it will boil at a lower temperature. Once the steam condenses, you will have pure water. You can create pure water from anywhere in the world. Wilson, Olszewicz, and Cross discuss the dangers as well as the benefits of the space. Cross states, “this is a system I believe in. It is bloody; people get hurt; it rewards efficacy and ruthlessly punishes inefficiency and leverage. It redistributes wealth in accordance with how well you manage it.” There is purity in the laws of crypto. People cannot do whatever they want and are required to stay humble. The reward at the end of this pain will be well worth it. Bitcoin encourages people to think critically and expand their minds. “If we can disagree in a way that is open-minded and civil, then we are collectively able to reach a much larger audience. We win by thinking how each one of us can help to improve the crypto space. Listen to the full episode for more! Troy Cross is a Professor of Philosopher and Fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute. In this interview, we discuss the changing narrative around Bitcoin mining: is it finding its real utility in a bear market as the ultimate auxiliary tool, and how early are we in discovering its range of uses as a tool? - - - - The trajectory of Bitcoin mining's narrative has been breathtaking. Over the last year, it has gone from being singularly promoted for its principal role in securing the Bitcoin network, to having a whole host of other uses identified and championed: subsidising stranded energy, stabilising energy grids, mitigating methane emissions, and providing heat for a range of activities. Policymakers are struggling to keep up. The tired old FUD of Bitcoin's energy use and carbon footprint are still being used as attack vectors by supposed reputable institutions such as the ECB. It also feeds into the narratives picked up by policymakers such as the White House, who's commissioned report on Bitcoin mining's climate impacts was affected by mainstream ignorance. But, the White House report also included recognition of some of Bitcoin mining's emerging benefits, as well as correcting some misrepresentations of its impacts. This shows that, whilst we are far from getting widespread acceptance of the importance of Bitcoin mining, the effort spent on education and advocacy by the Bitcoin community is having a vital real-world impact. Promoting Bitcoin mining's evolving narrative is critical. This is because we're on the cusp of some far-reaching regulation in the wake of recent crypto scams. Regulators could see this as an opportunity to constrain Bitcoin mining; politicians never let a good crisis go to waste. Yet, we are still early in understanding the scope of Bitcoin mining's value. New uses are being researched and developed all the time: OTEC, water desalination and carbon capture are recent examples. Bitcoin mining is emerging as perhaps an engineer's ultimate auxiliary tool. The mission is therefore to not only continue to convey Bitcoin mining's importance, but provide the widest possible frame for its significance.

“The story I want to be true about mining is that it strengthens grids, it lowers electrical rates for citizens for ordinary ratepayers, and it helps us green the grid, helps us mitigate methane…those stories were wrong during the bull run because everybody's just plugging in, now those stories are coming true.”— Troy CrossTroy Cross is a Professor of Philosopher and Fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute. Da dieses Thema sehr komplex und inzwischen von vielen schlauen Leuten wie Daniel Batten, Margot Paez oder Troy Cross beforscht wird, haben wir es so gut wie möglich heruntergebrochen. If you enjoy this podcast, help us grow by sharing it with your friends! It's become commonplace to hear politicians and commentators bemoaning the energy expenditure of bitcoin mining, noting that it consumes more power than certain industries or countries and confidently proclaiming that the bitcoin network performs no useful work. But recently, an emerging group of scholars has pushed back on this narrative, arguing that in fact bitcoin mining has certain special properties that make it ideal for subsidizing renewable energies. If this is true, it could become an important part of mitigating the effects of climate change. Tonight we're joined by one of the original scholars advancing this thesis. Troy Cross is a professor of philosophy at Reed University, where he focuses on questions of knowledge and reality. In addition, he is a fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute, where you can find his work on energy economics, bitcoin mining, and the environment. #climatechange #crypto #bitcoin Learn more about your ad choices. In this interview, we discuss Bitcoin mining as an ESG offset and how Bitcoin miners could be the frontier of energy development whilst helping nations attain energy sovereignty.  - - - -  The two extremes of the climate change debate are engaged in a zero-sum game.  For some, the existential threat of climate change requires humans to rapidly transition to energy production 100% derived from renewable sources. A particular contingent believes a transition is required by force: a carbon tax to dissuade investment in fossil fuels and a degrowth agenda to enable society to prioritise the use of more limited but sustainable energy sources. The counterargument is that catastrophic climate change isn't inevitable. Therefore, whilst there are insufficient cost-effective and reliable renewable energy sources, constraining the use of fossil fuels is a dangerous dogma that risks preventing vast swathes of the world from being able to escape poverty.  Does the argument need to be this binary? Is there an alternative that uses the power of the market rather than relying on coercive measures? If we assume that if energy sources were equally cost-effective and reliable, the obvious choice would be to invest in those that are renewable and that have the lowest negative impacts. The issue would then be how do you make renewable energy cost-effective and reliable. The answer is counterintuitive: meet what those who promote fossil fuels want -  facilitate energy abundance.   Troy Cross thinks this is how Bitcoin can help bridge the divide, enable a rapid transition to renewable sources, whilst ensuring the world's population can flourish.

Location: San Francisco Date: Tuesday 8th February Project: Bitcoin Policy Institute Role: Fellow On both sides of the Atlantic, politicians and regulators are questioning the sustainability of Bitcoin mining. These positions knowingly or unknowingly use narratives and statistics that have been widely dispelled by authorities within our industry. Bitcoin is cited as a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, ignoring the detrimental impact of the petrodollar and other institutionally accepted activities. Bitcoin transactions are disingenuously portrayed as being incredibly polluting; as Nic Carter stated “The question of Bitcoin's energy footprint is riven with misconceptions.” Usage of renewable power for Bitcoin mining is portrayed as being wasteful as though energy use is a zero-sum game, instead of Bitcoin being a flexible load facilitating increased investment and energy production. Satoshi Nakamoto even foresaw energy use as being an issue. In August 2010 Satoshi posted “The utility of the exchanges made possible by Bitcoin will far exceed the cost of electricity used. Therefore, not having Bitcoin is a net waste.” But, despite the obvious attributes of Bitcoin that mitigates its impacts, powerful stakeholders still use environmental FUD to undermine the industry. What if there was a way to explicitly make Bitcoin mining part of the ESG framework rather than having ESG weaponised against the industry? Such an idea would kick away the ladder for Bitcoin mining detractors. Meet Troy Cross. In this interview, I talk to Troy Cross, a Fellow at the Bitcoin Policy Institute. We discuss his personal journey of reconciling Bitcoin's energy footprint, the environmental FUD used against Bitcoin, how Bitcoin mining mitigates climate change, and the game-changing idea to incentivise sustainable Bitcoin mining.

We discuss his personal journey of reconciling Bitcoin's energy footprint, the environmental FUD used against Bitcoin, how Bitcoin mining mitigates climate change, and the game-changing idea to incentivise sustainable Bitcoin mining. This episode's sponsors:Gemini - Buy Bitcoin instantlyBlockFi - The future of Bitcoin financial servicesSportsbet.io - Online sportsbook & casino that accepts BitcoinCasa - The leading provider of Bitcoin multisig key security.Ledger - State of the art Bitcoin hardware walletCompass Mining - Bitcoin mining & hostingLVL - Bank on BitcoinBCB Group - Global digital financial Services-----WBD463 - Show Notes-----If you enjoy The What Bitcoin Did Podcast you can help support the show by doing the following:Become a Patron and get access to shows early or help contributeMake a tip:Bitcoin: 3FiC6w7eb3dkcaNHMAnj39ANTAkv8Ufi2SQR Codes: BitcoinIf you do send a tip then please email me so that I can say thank youSubscribe on iTunes | Spotify | Stitcher | SoundCloud | YouTube | Deezer | TuneIn | RSS FeedLeave a review on iTunesShare the show and episodes with your friends and familySubscribe to the newsletter on my websiteFollow me on Twitter Personal | Twitter Podcast | Instagram | Medium | YouTubeIf you are interested in sponsoring the show, you can read more about that here or please feel free to drop me an email to discuss options.

We cover: - The use of philosophy in today's world - Emotion and reason - Collectivism and individualism  - Framing Bitcoin's environmental impact - Greening Bitcoin with incentive offsets https://www.resistance.money/green/ Troy Cross Andrew Bailey https://theprogressivebitcoiner.com/ https://twitter.com/progressivebtcr

This episode will cover how to green your Bitcoin without buying carbon credits or impacting the fungibility of Bitcoin. I brought Philosopher and Environmentalist, Troy Cross, on to discuss his revolutionary idea for how you can "mine your values". Troy cares deeply about the environment and he sees Bitcoin as a tool to get us to a cleaner and better future. He developed an idea on how to green Bitcoin after being faced with concern over holding Bitcoin that could lead to a negative impact on the environment. If it is your goal to protect the environment you will want to watch and share this with others who care about what we are doing to the planet. You will also want to watch this if you don't care about the environment because the concept you are about to learn about will also help unlock over $15 trillion dollars in investible capital that is currently locked up in funds that require their investments to be environmentally friendly (ESG). The idea that Troy is about to deliver will unlock that $15 trillion which could lead to a massive buying event for Bitcoin. When incentives align, magical things can happen.Thank you for tuning in. I hope you enjoy this episode and I look forward to seeing you on the other side. --------------------------------Be sure to join the "Smart People Shit" telegram for a more in-depth discussion on what's going on in the world of bitcoin and receive exciting content that is exclusive to the followers in the Telegram.Telegram: Http://t.me/smartpeopleshit--------------------------------Guest: Troy Cross- Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetrocro- Whitepaper: https://www.resistance.money/green/Host: Dennis Porter- Twitter: https://twitter.com/dennis_porter_?s=21- Articles: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/authors/dennis-porter- Website: SmartPeopleShit.comProducer: Jacob Pope- Twitter: https://twitter.com/producer_jacob?s=21--------------------------------SHOW SPONSOR:Special thanks to the team over at Bitcoiner Jobs. In a nutshell: Troy Cross and I discuss philosophical angles related to Bitcoin including what Plato and Aristotle would have thought of Bitcoin, how to influence skeptics of Bitcoin, a new proposal to incentivize green mining, and why Troy does not regret paying 5 bitcoin for a pair of Alpaca socks. Guest: Troy Cross, Professor of Philosophy and Humanities at Reed College and a self-described "Philosopher, Environmentalist, and Bitcoiner."
