Halsey is not happy that her label is holding back her new single because it wants to come up with a viral TikTok video to release alongside. This disgusts Jay, but further digging into how TikTok has become a viable platform to launch a music career (or at least attract some major labels), led him to a bigger question. How is TikTok changing music & what does that mean for musicians?Song: Little Barrie - “Why Don't You Do It?”Nick found Jay's topic so interesting that he jumped at the opportunity to discuss a new article titled “How NFTs Are Shaping the Way Music Sounds” [Pitchfork]. Much like TikTok has become a viable model for attracting major label attention, NFTs are quickly becoming a viable income for the marketing minded musician. This all led, as these roads so often do, back to whether NFTs can serve any useful purpose in the long run. (We get much further along in the discussion this time.)Song: The Smile - “Thin Thing”Greg brings us yet another new bit. It's so simple, but possibly the purest, most perfect YSCIO bit to date. “Guess the Guest” someone plays a song that features a guest artist & asks if anyone can name the guest artist. No points are allotted, but each right answer yields a solid “Attaboy” (and let's be honest, those feel great)! :-)Songs:David Bowie - “Let's Dance”Deftones - “Passenger”Roger Waters - “What God Wants Part 3”

This letter is an almost UNIVERSAL HAPPINESS HACK… so I’m sending this to everyone for free. If you aren’t subscribed to this letter yet, why not? It’s $10 a month or $50 a year and I’ll send you one of these 5 days a week. Also, check out the audio version at the top, working on my radio voice ;-)Okay cool. As my loyal subscribers know, I don’t write anything that I haven’t actually tested out or that I don’t have “skin in the game on”. So here’s my travel point account balances…As you can see, MILLIONS and MILLIONS of points on both Chase and American Express. These points translate to literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of TRAVEL (some of the best experiences you can have in your life IMO).My wife and I have used these to travel the World for free… it’s great. Here’s a couple examplesCHARLESTON - this pink room in the hotel Bennet is probably her favorite room of all time, in any city, anywhere. This hotel was almost 1k per night but we stayed for free and flew there for free as well. Playa Del Carmen - Mexico. Stayed for 7 days AND brought two of our closest friends with us. Literally spent ZERO DOLLARS (flights were free + all inclusive was covered on points).Washington D.C. - Again, totally free, stayed at a hotel which was absolutely insane and I think 2k per night at the time of booking if we would have paid cash. Got to bring friends as well.I could go on and on. We literally have so many points travel has become this THING THAT WE DO, not a burden or a stressful expense. It’s one of the things that brings me the most joy in life. So how can YOU DO IT?It’s honestly really easy. Step 1 - start a business that you can scale using ADVERTISING.The trick is that companies like American Express and Chase Pay BONUSES for spending money on online advertising (like Facebook and Google). For instance, here’s the chase Ink, which is how I got those chase points…Earning 5 points per dollar is like stealing. American express has similar offers for their Gold and Platinum cards. Every single dollar basically produces JOY points that you can use to travel the World with your loved ones. Step 2: Did I mention making your business actually PROFITABLE so you can SCALE?I’m not sure why I put this in steps haha it doesn’t need it. The key is ignoring everyone’s “normal advice” (which is a big key to LIFE IN GENERAL by the way lol).Everyone will tell you…“oh yeah just spend a bunch of money on credit cards and you’ll rack up rewards!”WRONG. Spending more money just to earn points is DUMB DUMB DUMB. You might as well just pay for the vacation. It’s like going to Chuck E Cheese in order to buy Christmas presents by playing the games. Not smart. Chucky wins. The way to “game the system” is to have a business that is already profitable. Like…Amazon FBA An online course, or a letter like this one!Anything else where you can turn $1 of adspend into AT LEAST $1 of profit (preferably $2-3)Then, you just need to be able to SCALE it!Go from spending $100 a day on ads, to $1,000!$1,000 -> $10,000…Etc. In order to do that you have to have a great product that appeals to a broad market, so we usually recommend Amazon for most people. But, regardless, this isn’t going to turn into a “how to start an Amazon Biz” letter. I’m just throwing it out there to you that making money can beFUNREWARDING EXCITINGand FREE???When I first started a biz, I didn’t realize that it would come with FREE TRAVEL PERKS!That’s LITERALLY what I’m saying here is that you can POCKET all the CASH from your biz, and STILL travel the world for FREE!When you start to think about that…It makes it a LOT more fun to plan out and work on your business…The rewards just got that much greater, literally. Let me know if that makes sense in the comments, and SHARE THIS WITH SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!LOVE YA!Kalep.s. oh yeah, if you aren’t subscribed yet WHAT THE HECK! SUBSCRIBE NOW! Staying The Course Podcast

Message from Jimmie Johnson, Host of The Staying The Course Podcast:Thank you for tuning into the Staying The Course Podcast. Before you dive into the content I have created, I wanted to share with you my heart and desire behind this project. For a long time, pre-dating my stint working as a television journalist, I always had a desire to sit down and interview people from all different walks of life and share their stories. So, when thinking about how I could truly make impact in the lives of so many, I had a “You Do It” moment. Yeah. One of those moments where you try to talk yourself out of an idea but that idea never dies. I believe we have all have been in that space wondering, what is my purpose and how can I make a difference on this earth? The only problem is when it comes to acting on those dreams, some of us never go any further than dreaming. We never put the A in action ahead of our desires. Therefore, we never see any results. My hope is to help you bridge that gap, by introducing you to some of the most influential thought-leaders around the globe. People I believe will inspire, uplift and motivate you because — “You’re called to stay the course.”

Bernadette is a relatively new project, whose songs pair catchy vocal melodies with driving guitars and bright pops of synth. The band's upcoming five-track EP gives a nice introduction to their high-energy, emotionally-charged sound: first single "Six Strands" showcases lead singer Ricci Swift's smooth falsetto above swirling layers of synth, while EP opener "Forever An Instance" features urgent guitars and has a darker, haunting vibe. https://bernadettebk.bandcamp.com/ Playlist Bernadette - Forever An Instance The Morlocks - Easy Action The Sharp Shadows - Why Don't You Do It?
