As reported hires continue to trickle in for Mike Macdonald's first staff with the Seahawks, one of the obvious themes of this hiring cycle has been bringing coaches on board with ties to top quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. Host Corbin Smith investigates whether the hirings of Ryan Grubb, Jay Harbaugh, and Zach Hill could signal the team's intentions looking towards the future beyond Geno Smith under center or if their hirings are just a coincidence on that front, dives into a quartet of new coach hires for Macdonald's staff, and takes a close look at what to expect from Grubb's running game as play caller in Seattle and why offensive line decisions likely will dictate schematic style of play on the ground.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

"Wavves" is an American rock band based in San Diego, headed by lead songwriter and front man Nathan Williams. The descriptor "band" may be one way to describe this outfit, but "project" may be more fitting, since the whole Wavves sound is created and spearheaded by lead frontman Nathan Williams, who is joined live on tour with various musicians.Nathan has had a turbulent history, battling drug addiction and his own internal demons, but none the less he has continued to forge ahead writing and releasing albums through "Wavves" that truly resonate with his fans.To listen to the full episode, including the featured music, visit... signlradio.com"Roots to Grooves" is a production of SIGNL.https://www.signlradio.comhttps://www.instagram.com/signlradiohttps://www.twitter.com/signlradiohttps://www.facebook.com/signlradiohttps://www.mixcloud.com/signlhttps://open.spotify.com/user/96mhz6qfjoztxbl2dpm0uj903?si=aAZpsoEnRAKdx85kr1QWhg

Today John Vandergriff and Zach Hill go back and forth on behavioral finance and confirmation bias.--------This episode's notes:Behavioral Finance/Economics is a new field, founded by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky; Kahneman won the Nobel Prize for Econ in 2002; Richard Thaler, won Nobel Prize in 2017, for continuing their research.Example of this study is auto-enrollment in 401k plans. Thaler found that one behavioral bias was to anchor to things how they were. So when participants are auto-enrolled in retirement plans at work, they tend to stay in the plan rather than opt out. It is estimated that this study has helped add over $30 billion to retirement accounts since 2011. OverconfidenceOverconfidence has two components: overconfidence in the quality of your information, and your ability to act on said information at the right time for maximum gain. Studies show that overconfident traders trade more frequently and fail to appropriately diversify their portfolio. One study analyzed trades from 10,000 clients at a certain discount brokerage firm. The study wanted to ascertain if frequent trading led to higher returns. After backing out tax loss trades and others to meet liquidity needs, the study found that the purchased stocks underperformed the sold stocks by 5% over one year and 8.6% over two years. In other words, the more active the retail investor, the less money they make. This study was repeated numerous times in multiple markets and the results were always the same. The authors concluded that traders are, "basically paying fees to lose money."AnchoringAnchoring bias occurs when people rely too much on pre-existing information or the first information they find when making decisions. So if a stock was at $100, then fell to $50, you perceive it as cheap when in reality.Loss AversionBasic expression is that you feel pain from losses more than you feel pleasure from gains.Confirmation BiasBeing drawn to information that validates existing beliefs or opinions. This is often very common with political or religious beliefs, but also exists with financial tpics as well. One example is believing the company you work for is the greatest company in the world. For example, if you have worked for Walmart in Arkansas for the last 30 years, you might hold a lot of Walmart stock because you've seen the company grow a substantial amount over that time period. But you might have missed out on the gains brought about by tech companies like Amazon who have innovated and taken market share from Walmart simply because you work for Walmart.--------Find the notes for this episode here:https://blueridgewealth.com/podcast-notes-s2e3/Find all our podcast episodes here:https://www.buzzsprout.com/1208288Watch our episodes on YouTube:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsEeilQ03hrXleCYwXwuA7yMQ2pzAF8KBFor more information about our podcast, visit our landing page:www.backandforthpodcast.comTo schedule a meeting:https://blueridge.timetap.comTo schedule a phone call:https://blueridgephonecall.timetap.com

For how maniacal and abrasive Death Grips’ music is, it’s surprising the level of acclaim they’ve gained on the internet. But more power to ‘em! Death Grips has to be one of the most unique artists of the decade. Their music is off-kilter, at times scary, but still has some killer hooks. The frontman of the group, MC Ride, has a flow unlike anyone else’s, especially as it changes from song to song. Zach Hill’s drumming is frantic and all over the place. The lyrics are violent, spiritual, and uncensored. Whether or not we love every song, this is an album that demands your attention. So please enjoy this episode of OTR, and stay tuned for next week, where we do something very different! Enjoy!! In this episode, I speak with Tom Aiello, founder and lead instructor at the Snake River BASE Academy. Tom has travelled all around the world pursuing his passion of BASE jumping, and in this episode he shares his rich depth of experience and knowledge, as well as some truly fascinating and engrossing stories well worth listening to. In this wide-ranging conversation, Tom shares some the numerous experiences he has had in his years of traveling the world. One example, among many others, is the experience he shares of BASE jumping at the legendary Sótano de las Golandrinas (Cave of the Swallows) in the jungles of Mexico, “the largest known cave shaft in the world and the second deepest pit in Mexico. The cave gets its name from the green parakeets and white-collared swifts that live along its walls. Each day the birds fly in concentric circles up the cave shaft before the flocks come spilling out of the of the hole into the jungle.”* Tom also shares some very interesting stories involving the (mis)adventures of other BASE jumpers (including a story about snorting the ashes of a deceased BASE jumper in a diner in rural Oregon, just to give an example). Tom and I touch on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to an examination of: the very diverse subcultures that exist within the broader global BASE jumping culture; the pros and cons of mixing drugs (psychedelic or otherwise) with BASE jumping (and other novel experiences); the diverse, eclectic, and fascinating individuals that make up the BASE jumping subcultures Tom has spent time with; the camaraderie and tribal qualities that exist within the world of BASE jumping. I’m very thankful Tom was willing to have this kind of conversation with me, for being open and willing share these experiences for this episode. This episode is an "Unproductive Conversation,” a label intended to convey to the listener that this conversation is free-form, both in its structure and in the topics discussed. *Source: bit.ly/caveofswallows Episode Notes: - Tom was featured in episode #87 of the podcast, titled “Snake River BASE: Higher Education For Lower Free Fall.” To learn more about Tom’s backstory, as well as learn more about Tom’s BASE academy, listen here: https://bit.ly/2LEJO3A - You can learn more about the Snake River BASE Academy at the website: http://snakeriverbase.com - The song featured in this episode is “Face Tat” by Zach Hill from the album Face Tat. - Podcast website: https://www.lastborninthewilderness.com - Support the podcast: PATREON: www.patreon.com/lastborninthewilderness ONE-TIME DONATION: www.ko-fi.com/lastborninthewilderness - Follow and listen: SOUNDCLOUD: www.soundcloud.com/lastborninthewilderness ITUNES: www.goo.gl/Fvy4ca GOOGLE PLAY: https://goo.gl/wYgMQc STITCHER: https://goo.gl/eeUBfS - Social Media: FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/lastborninthewildernesspodcast TWITTER: www.twitter.com/lastbornpodcast INSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/patterns.of.behavior

Episode 23! M.J.! Here's your chance, do your dance at the Space Jam! Endless Bummer gets renamed Talkin' Poop! Two extreme special guests. 2 Xtreme 4 Functioning. Clare O'Kane was a delight! We talk about how comedy house shows can work (and not work), how she got to write a few episodes of Spongebob Squarepants, and finding your comedy "voice". Deep stuff! Follow Clare on Twitter! @babysfirstgun Watch Flophouse on Viceland! Screaming Females absolutely rocked the fuck out Hardywood Brewery and I got to interview them beforehand. We talk about poop. A lot. So much so that Marissa suggested I change the name of my podcast to Talkin' Poop (although pooping IS kind of an Endless Bummer in its own way depending on your diet). We also delve deep into The New Alternative Music Festival, Zach Morris, Zach Hill, and debunking the fact that SPIN's Top 100 Guitarists of All Time list is bullshit. They didn't even include Moby. The song is "Ripe" by Screaming Females from their album, Rose Mountain! Get it now! http://www.screamingfemales.com/ Follow them on Twitter @Screamales and catch 'em on tour!
