The series was produced by J. C. Staff, and originally aired on TV Tokyo from April to December 1997. Revolutionary Girl Utena follows Utena Tenjou, a teenaged girl drawn into a sword dueling tournament to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the "Rose Bride" who possesses the "power to revolutionize the world".Ikuhara was a director on the television anime adaptation of Sailor Moon at Toei Animation in the 1990s; after growing frustrated by the lack of creative control in directing an adapted work, he departed the company in 1995 to create an original series. While he initially conceived of Utena as a mainstream shōjo (girls' anime and manga) series aimed at capitalizing on the commercial success of Sailor Moon, the direction of the series shifted dramatically during production towards an avant-garde and surrealist tone. The series has been described as a deconstruction and subversion of fairy tales and the magical girl genre of shōjo manga, making heavy use of allegory and symbolism to comment on themes of gender, sexuality, and coming-of-age. Its visual and narrative style is characterized by a sense of theatrical presentation and staging, drawing inspiration from the all-female Japanese theater troupe the Takarazuka Revue, as well as the experimental theater of Shūji Terayama, whose frequent collaborator J. A. Seazer created the songs featured in the series.Revolutionary Girl Utena has been the subject of both domestic and international critical acclaim, and has received many accolades. It has been praised for its treatment of LGBT themes and subject material, and has influenced subsequent animated works. A manga adaptation of Utena written and illustrated Saito was developed contemporaneously with the anime series, and was serialized in the manga magazine Ciao beginning in 1996. In 1999, Be-Papas produced the film Adolescence of Utena as a follow-up to the television anime series. According to a report from Deadline, the Board of Directors for the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has unanimously approved the authorization of a potential strike in the event that the upcoming bargaining meeting with the video game industry does not yield satisfactory outcomes. This voting process will take place from Tuesday, September 5, until Monday, September 25. Industry giants such as Activision, EA, Insomniac Games, and WB Games are among the companies that will be involved in the negotiations. SAG-AFTRA aims to secure various protections, including safeguards against the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry, as well as wage increases of 11% retroactive to the expiration date of the previous agreement, followed by 4% increases in the subsequent two years. These demands align with the standards provided to individuals working under film and television contracts. Additionally, the guild is advocating for the presence of a set medic during stunts or hazardous work, similar to the protocols in place for film and television productions, and the prohibition of stunts during self-taped auditions, along with the implementation of vocal stress protections. The Pokémon Company has forged a partnership with TV Tokyo to produce a live-action drama centered around its enduring franchise. According to a statement from TV Tokyo's Twitter, which has been translated by Serebii, the TV series named “Pocket Filled With Adventure” is set to debut on October 19 in Japan. At present, it remains uncertain whether the show will be localized for international audiences or provided with official English subtitles. Diverging from the approach taken in the previous live-action adaptation, the Detective Pikachu film starring Ryan Reynolds, “Pocket Filled With Adventure” appears to eschew the inclusion of physically embodied versions of the beloved pocket monsters. Rather, the series revolves around the character of Madoka Akagi, portrayed by Nanase Nishino, as she embarks on an immersive journey into the world of Pokémon after receiving her old copy of Pokémon Red from her mother upon relocating to Tokyo for employment at an advertising firm.

Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are back for another TV retrospective. This time they're talking about Pokémon. Pokémon is an anime based on the video game series of the same name. The show premiered on TV Tokyo on April 1, 1997. In the United States it has bounced around syndication, Kids' WB, and elsewhere since 1998. The anime is ongoing, airing over 1000 episodes. The show centers on 10-year-old Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum (Veronica Taylor) and his loyal Pikachu (Ikue Ohtani). Joining them in their adventures are their friends Misty (Rachael Lillis) and Brock (Eric Stuart). Ash and company frequently battle the villainous Team Rocket, consisting of Jessie (Rachael Lillis), James (Ted Lewis, Eric Stuart), and Meowth (Nathan Price, Maddie Blaustein). With games, trading cards, the show, and movies, Pokémon is one of the largest media franchises in the world and it shows no sign of letting up. My special guest today is Mike in Tokyo - The widely popular and most listened to DJ in Tokyo. He's been introducing the world to the best indie music in the world for over 35 years on FM radio broadcasting to 42 million people! Mike Rogers doesn't only know the punk and indie music scene, Mike was in it. He was the lead singer of the '70s LA punk band, The Rotters, under the pseudonym Nigel Nitro. A few years ago he left terrestrial radio and began broadcasting on Digital Radio in 19 countries, and on 55 stations. He's interviewed everyone from the White Stripes, Yoko Ono Mike "in Tokyo" Rogers is a director, producer, writer, and FM radio host who, in 2006, became the first foreigner in Japanese history to hold a senior position at a major Japanese broadcasting station when he was appointed the general manager at TV Tokyo's InterFM radio channel. Since then, he has built a career as a radio and TV host, producer, and writer in Japan with film credits including Ghostroads – A Japanese Rock N Roll Ghost Story and the documentary, Matsuchiyo – Life of a Geisha. Naruto merupakan serial mangga karya Masashi Kishimoto, yang muncul pada Agustus 1997 pada komik one shot yang diterbitkan dalam edisi Akamaru Jump dan berkembang menjadi Naruto yang kita kenal saat ini pada tahun 1999. Manga Naruto pertama kali diterbitkan di Jepang oleh Shuesha dalam edisi ke-43 majalan Shonen Jump. Sedangkan di Indonesia sendiri, Naruto diterbitkan oleh Elex Media Komputindo. Karena kepopuleran Naruto menyaingi Dragon Ball karya Akira Toriyama. Naruto pun dibuatkan anime nya oleh studio Pierrot dan Aniplex dan disiarkan perdana di Jepang oleh TV Tokyo pada 3 Oktober 2002. Anime Naruto kemudian disiarkan di Indonesia melalui Trans TV, yang kemudian ditayangkan lebih lanjut oleh Global TV. Hanya saja, saat ini kita sudah tidak bisa menemukan film Naruto lagi di siaran tv Indonesia karena masuk dalam katagori anime yang dilarang oleh KPI untuk ditayangkan di Indonesia. Menurut KPI, berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan dari tahun 2012 hingga maret 2013 menurut komisioner KPI, Nina Armando, ada beberapa film yang masuk dalam katagori pelanggaran terhadap anak yaitu jika tayangan memunculkan adegan kekerasan, mistik, supranatural serta seks (Detik News, Kamis 25 Aprl 2013). Karena Naruto memunculkan adegan kekerasan shingga penanyangannya pun dilarang di Indonesia. Dari peristiwa ini muncul lah sebuah pertanyaan, apakah benar pengaruh anime Naruto berdampak terhadap tindak kekerasan remaja? Sebenarnya lebih berhak menjawab pertanyaan ini adalah pakar anime Naruto itu sendiri tapi karena saat ini saya belum menemukan artikel, skripsi atau disertasi mengenai ini saya mencoba untuk menjawab dengan melakukan riset kecil kecilan. Membahas Anime Naruto seperti kita menelaah sebuah video atau artikel. Jika kita tidak membaca atau menonton sampai habis maka kesimpulan yang akan kita dapat akan keliru dan hal inilah yang menyebabkan miss understanding. Menurut saya, tindakan KPI dalam menggolongkan Naruto kedalam katagori kekerasan itu tidak salah. Karena hampir semua chapter dalam Naruto tidak luput dari aksi baku hantam. Hanya saja, jika dikaitkan dengan mempengaruhi terhadap tindak kekerasan remaja saya kurang setuju. Menurut disertasi Brent Allison dari Universitas Gorgia dengan judul "Autenticity From Cartoons : U.S Japannese Animation Fandom Agency of Informal Cultural Education" mengatakan "penggemar anime lebih menyukai kekerasan yang memiliki alasan" dengan kata lain para Otaku hanya sebagai penikmat bukan pelaku. Walaupun banyak adegan baku hantam, para otaku Naruto lebih cenderung "menjauhi perkelahian" bahkan sangat jauh dari sebutan "abang Jago". Mengacu kepada perkataan Mizuko Ito, kata "Otaku" juga bisa dipakai kepada orang diluar Jepang (Gai jin) yang menyukai tentang Japan Pop Culture terutama Anime dan Mangga. Hanya saja, makna nya lebih mendekati kepada "Nerd / Geek" (orang aneh / kutu buku ). Lagi pula, nilai moral yang ingin disampaikan oleh Masashi Kishimoto bukan "baku hantamnya" tapi nilai kerja keras, rela berkorban, setia kawan, dan tolong menolong.

New Years MMA Recap Rizin 14 and ONE Championship - Asian MMA Podcast Episode 12 This episode is brought to you by New Year's resolutions you have no intention of keeping.   I am sure a lot of you know that New Year MMA is a sort of tradition in Asia going back to the Pride days, and it seems that RIzin has picked up that mantle. And while we didn’t have any fight action from ONE Championship we did get some interesting news from them that we’ll get into a bit later. First things first we have to talk about Rizin 14 and Floyd Mayweather and his “fight”, or as I have taken to calling it, drive by worth 9 million dollars. He finished. Tenshin in the first round after three knockdowns the corner threw in the towel. I’m not sure how much of a fight this actually was, I don’t want to say it was a work, but it was fairly suspect… I’m just saying. If, and this is a big if it wasn’t a work. Floyd Mayweather was bigger, more experienced and fighting under a ruleset he was comfortable with. Tenshin wasn’t able to utilize the kicks he’s known for and Floyd was never in trouble. Other fights worth mentioning on the card: Kyoji Horiguchi claimed the first ever Rizin bantamweight championship by choking out Bellator champ Darrion Caldwell in the 3rd round. Former Invicta FC champion Ayaka Hamasaki defeated Kanna Asakura to claim the Rizin women’s super-atomweight title, via second-round armbar. Openweight woman's fighter Gabi Garcia tapped out Barbara Nepomuceno with a first-round Americana. These are both big women, but Gabi was still a full 10kg heavier than Barbara, But at the end of the day this is the type of fight you expect in Japan, I guess I’m just happy that there is a platform for this type of freakshow fight still. What is hands down one of the nastiest eye injuries I have ever seen Yusuke Yachi got a nasty cut to the right eye that ended his fight with UFC vet Johnny Case, google this, it’s just crazy. In ONE Championship news over the holiday break, they announced that they have inked a broadcast deal with TV Tokyo for weekly content, both live and recorded that will have them on free TV analog and digital as well as their cable platform. This is the second major broadcast deal we have seen ONE sign to round out the year. This is a major win for ONE who I know sees Japan as a key market in their plans for global domination. Of course, they are going to Japan with their first event there next march in a stacked card that not only has three titles on the line but also the debut of DJ and Eddie Alverez, But I’ll talk more about that in the next episode.
