I sat down with Hafsa Lodi, author of "Modesty: A Fashion Paradox" for a very interesting conversation around fashion, what being modest means and how that is being implemented across cultures and men & womens fashion and culture. Not being super into fashion myself, I loved exploring this topic as it brought up many interesting points and unconscious behaviours, such as:Is wearing logos or blatant branding, modest?Whats the difference between Middle Eastern, cultural modesty and modest fashion as a Western, feminist movement?Whats different about the means modest fashion movement? In what ways is our generation addict to fashion and consumerism? How do interns and motivations factor in modest fashion?Do the purposes of social media conflict with deeper ideals of modesty? How are modest fashion bloggers creation content during quarantine? + More! Are you modest? I'd love to hear your thoughts & opinions on the topic below! You can buy the book here:MODESTY: A FASHION PARADOXUNCOVERING THE CAUSES, CONTROVERSIES AND KEY PLAYERS BEHIND THE GLOBAL TREND TO CONCEAL, RATHER THAN REVEALhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Modesty-Fashion-Paradox-Hafsa-Lodi/dp/1911107259Follow Hafsa on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hafsalodiYOU CAN HEAR THE FULL PODCAST ON THE GO HERE:

During this lockdown I was lucky enough to 'sit down' with Julia Hobsbawm OBE is an acclaimed entrepreneur and author who put the concept of Social Health – connected behaviour as a form of wellbeing and productivity – on to the map.We got to discuss what life is like during lockdown while launching a book, Julia's TED Talk, 'Info Obesity' being mentored by Maya Angelou (YES MAYA ANGELOU!), and hanging out with my idol, Oprah Winfrey. Julia was once the legendary author Maya Angelou's book publicist and she first learned the 1950s’ design principle K.I.S.S. It stood for ‘Keep it Simple, Stupid’ – a term Angelou changed into the more elegant ‘Keep it Simple, Sweetie’. a concept that this book is hinged on. The Simplicity Principle is an essential guide for developing a clear, calm approach in life. It will help you achieve maximum creativity and improved focus in a world that tests the cognitive capacity of humans to their limit.I absolutely LOVED this conversation and I hope you get a lot from it, the principles in the book have already changed my life!Grab the book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simplicity-P...Audiobook: https://www.audible.co.uk/pd/The-Simp...YOU CAN HEAR THE FULL PODCAST ON THE GO HERE:

MEYA is an app that does meditation differently. MEYA Mind Journeys use the power of music and binaural beats to switch you into a meditative state. All you have to do is listen. I've been using it and I love it! It brings me calm and into #alphastate quite quickly. Meya uses binaural beats (tones that play at a certain frequency) + music + affirmations that act as a shortcut into your brains alpha state, you know that feeling right before you fall asleep or right before you wake up. In this state, the brain is open to the subconscious - this is where Meya steps in, to feed the subconscious positive messages of your choosing. Its really powerful! We discussed the science behind binaural beats, neurolinguistic programming, techniques to work on your mind and ancient alchemy, and how Meya has packaged this in a modern way. Hear how and why this app works so well, especially in time of global pandemic, quarantine & lockdown!Premium is currently free to all users, I highly recommend it!Links:https://welcometomeya.com/pages/meya-...YOU CAN HEAR THE FULL PODCAST ON THE GO HERE:

"Everything that you're going through, we already did a month ago!" - Juanita IngramToday we have another Conversation In Quarantine, straight from self-isolation in Taiwan!Ingram is an American born lawyer, actress and author and a mother of two. Juanita and her family are based in Taiwan, having lived in London and the US - this made this conversation particularly special, as she has a pretty unique perspective on everything #coronavirus. Especially the differences in response from Asia/Europe/USTaiwan was impacted pretty early on, in January 2020, and it has been largely praised for its response to the virus, having relatively low case numbers - Taiwan to date only has 200 or so cases and a few deaths, compared to a number of other western countries with much higher numbers. Traveling back to the UK after a period of isolation in Taiwan, Juanita was shocked by the UK, USA and Europes response. Because of the west's lack of preparation, Taiwan is now in a SECOND lockdown period. So what we're all going through, Juanita has done twice in the past few months (with two kids!) Naturally, there was a lot to talk about and it was really positiveThere is light at the end of the tunnel! We discuss:• Life during coronavirus currently and also in the past living in Taiwan, compared to the UK AND USA.• Her tips for living under quarantine and during self-isolation/a lockdown, including wellbeing and mental health• Why Social distancing and self-isolation WORKS• Why you should choose PEACE over PANIC! Check out her 14-day quarantine journal called Peace over Panic (links below)• Parenting tips for self-isolation and homeschooling• The theme of her Self-help wellbeing book called Fabulous, Faithful and Free• How she has built a global career as a mother of two young kids, operating as a CEO, actress, lawyer and an author.• The reason she started her charity 'dress for success' and what tips she can give those who have been made redundant as a result of this virus.• The challenges of being a female leader, while being a parent in isolation• Making ENCOURAGEMENT as viral as the virus!Follow Juanita:https://twitter.com/imjuanitaingramhttps://instagram.com/Iamjuanitaingramhttps://facebook.com/IamjuanitaingramBooks:'Peace over Panic' e-book: https://www.iamjuanitaingram.com/ebookAll sales donated to her charity Dress For Success Greater London'Fabulous, Faithful and Free': https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/197361510X/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=&sr= (paperback also via Juanita's website, the proceeds of the books will be donated to her charity Dress For Success Greater London)Fabulous, Faithful and Free (e-book/kindle version) https://www.amazon.com/Fabulous-Faithful-Free-Transformational-Yourself-ebook/dp/B07CQZZYM8Her website: https://www.iamjuanitaingram.com⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ RATE THIS PODCAST⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:https://ratethispodcast.com/ryannileshowYOU CAN HEAR THE FULL PODCAST ON THE GO HERE:

So after 35 years on this earth, I found out I may have a condition called Dyspraxia, a developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD) which is a common disorder that affects your movement and co-ordination. Also symptoms of Dyslexia and ADHD, which I didn't know were symptoms! It actually makes so much sense now that I know what it is & heard others experiences.. struggling to complete sentences, foggy memory... coordination, balance, organisation, focus etc. This all falls under 'neurodivergence' - Neurodivergence includes Attention Deficit Disorders, Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. It finally all makes sense... I am so glad to have found this out and did some research.. its actually improved things a little :) Thanks to all my twitter followers for being so helpful with this, helping me identify it and provide resources (below)I've edited this video less so you can hear what my natural cadence is when filming these vlogs & the podcastLet me know your experience & thoughts in the comments below!More information on Dyspraxia, ADHD & Dyslexia:https://dyspraxiafoundation.org.uk/http://dyspraxiafoundation.org.uk/dyspraxia-adults/https://www.facebook.com/DyspraxiaFoundationAdults/https://www.readandspell.com/dyspraxia-in-adultshttps://www.nhs.uk/conditions/developmental-coordination-disorder-dyspraxia-in-adults/https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder-adhd/symptoms/https://www.qandadhd.com/diagnostic-criteriahttps://thefutureisnd.com/YOU CAN HEAR THE FULL PODCAST ON THE GO HERE:

Red Bull Amaphiko Academy is an 8 day course for grassroots social entrepreneurs in the UK who are making a positive difference in their community. The Academy aims to give them the inspiration, mentorship and practical skills and tools they need to take themselves and their projects to the next level. There were 15 social entrepreneurs taking part in the academy, and I was lucky enough to feature a couple of them on my show to discuss their projects and purpose. In todays episode I sit down with James Marshall founder of 10T which creates cool clothes from old tents left at festivals. The project tries to address the wasted textile problem throughout different industries in the UK by developing these wasted materials into streetwear. 10T’s first project this year we are collecting tents left at music festivals and developing these into jackets, bum bags and bucket hats. It was estimated that 250,000 tents were left at music festivals in 2018 alone and 90% of this material goes to landfill and incinerator. This material can still be used and the majority of the tents left have only be used for the festival and the material is of good quality. James studied a Masters degree in Environmental Sustainability and saw the figures for textile waste in the UK. he has also been involved in fashion his whole life. He worked in fashion retail for 5 years and he was a model for Established London for a year so he always had a love fashion and he knew he was interested in the industry. This is why he came up with the concept of 10T, to combine his knowledge on waste management and create a clothing company.Website: https://www.10tonline.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/10tonline/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/10Tonline/posts/PODCAST:

They provide a number of fun and impactful workshops tailored to the needs of specific groups of young people. This has been done through their 3 day annual academy, their school tour and their year long development programme. They also work closely with small to large organisations to help create pipelines and access for these young people, this helps provide opportunities for young people. In doing this, they have addressed the problem at a very early stage (ages 15-19). They will begin creating a online school planner to distribute to schools which incorporates their sessions. I jumped at the chance to talk to Kristen and find out exactly what goes into writing a screenplay and how that eventually ends up on our screens, whether its on Netflix, Cable or the Cinema.Kristen was an absolute pleasure and dropped a lot of gems, especially for those who have aspirations of being in the film industry!Listen and take notes!!Show notes:Kristen Saberre IMDB https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2562302/Knightfall on Amazon Prime https://www.amazon.co.uk/Knightfall-Season-1/dp/B07FM17XJM (Season 2, July 2nd premiere!)A Noble Cause (Suddenly Royal) by Kristen Saberre (Author) https://amzn.to/2XyPPoI---Review, Rate & Share! On this episode of Creativity x Culture, we paid our condolences to Nipsey Hussle’s family, as well as celebrate his life by shining a spotlight on the legacy he has left behind for being a philanthropist, entrepreneur and innovator._We also discussed Lil Nas X’s new song, a remix of country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus’ - ‘Old Town Road’, and the fact that it was rejected by the Billboard charts as a country song. This topic lead nicely into our discussion about our third co-host Beyoncé (inside joke lol), who has just signed a new fashion deal with Addidas for her athleisure brand Ivy Park. And if you didn’t know, the Queen Bee is also releasing a docu-series on Netflix about her performance at Coachella 2018, so we discussed that too._Speaking of Coachella, we also covered the fact that Kanye will be bringing his ‘Sunday Service’ to Coachella this year, and how it may just be the right fit for Kanye, especially after some of his shenanigans and infamous tweets from last year._As usual, we always try our best to bring you topics that are trending, but with a creative twist, so CLICK ON THE LINK IN OUR BIO TO LISTEN NOW and don’t forget to RECOMMEND, REVIEW and SHARE!--Nipsey Hussle and Iddris Sandu - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTcvSUEzwAULil Nas X - Old Town Road.... the remix out now! @lilnasx: https://twitter.com/billyraycyrus/status/1114029371168313344?s=12Beyonce Adidas deal - https://twitter.com/BeyLegion/status/1114129438709559297Beyonce Netflix deal - https://variety.com/2019/film/news/beyonce-coachella-documentary-concert-film-teaser-premiere-date-netflix-1203182673/Sunday Service at Coachella - https://coachella.com/sunday-service/Drake welcomes J Hus home - https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv6gyCantTP/?utm_source=ig_web_options_share_sheet---Review, Rate & Share! On this weeks episode of the podcast Vernaire sits down with Kojo Marfo the founder of My Runway Group, a production company which merges the different elements of creative arts to empower young people._Kojo’s story is an extremely fascinating one, because his journey from boarding school to the philanthropist that he is today, was filled with many ups and downs, but he persevered through it all. _Throughout the conversation they discussed how he went from living a privileged life in Ghana, to cleaning toilets in the U.K. From planning to commit to suicide one day, to planning events and eventually owning his own night club at university. *This episode was originally published on Mon Aug 20 2018*Welcome back to another episode of For The Creators, where it’s our job to demystify creativity. In these long form conversations, we tease out tips and tricks from all kinds of creatives whether they’re Musicians, Presenters, Actors, Directors, DJs, Writers, Entrepreneurs and everything in between. In this episode I sit down with MC Buskin, one third of the UK Garage group the Heartless Crew. As pioneers of UK Garage, Heartless Crew played a fundamental role in the rise of the genre and they continue to be respected globally for their contributions to the UK music scene. I have been a fan of the Heartless Crew since I was in secondary school and listening to them on Mission FM, but I had never really heard their story. So, I was really interested in finding out more about how it all started and how they were able to have a major influence on a genre of music, at such a young age.I took Bushkin on a trip down memory lane and got an insight into his childhood, his musical influences, the formation of the Heartless Crew, the rise of the Crew and why they eventually decided to go their separate ways in 2011. This was definitely a nostalgic interview for me, but I am extremely proud that I got the chance to do it. I learned so much about Bushkin, the other members of the crew and the music scene in the 90s and 2000s during our conversation, and I genuinely hope that you do to.So, without further ado, please enjoy my sit-down with, MC Bushkin from the Heartless Crew.
