Welcome To Fatherhood is a podcast I created to celebrate my journey of fatherhood first and foremost, as well as the countless other exceptional fathers who otherwise do not get their proper due. As a first time father, I will talk about all aspects of what it means to be a father, highlighting the good, bad, and all things in between. I will invite other fathers to share their experiences as well, showing that as dads, we're just like moms; except we're dads.
The Welcome to Fatherhood podcast is an absolute gem for any new father or anyone interested in hearing about the complexities of fatherhood. From the very first episode I listened to, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and felt a deep sense of connection with the host, Kelly. It's refreshing to hear someone talk about their experiences as a father with such openness and vulnerability.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how relatable it is. Kelly dives into topics that many fathers face but are often too afraid to discuss openly. He discusses feelings of angst, joy, and confusion that come with being a father, providing a space for listeners to feel understood and supported. The conversations he has with his guests are authentic and heartfelt, allowing listeners to gain valuable insights from fathers who have gone through similar experiences.
Another great aspect of this podcast is Kelly's soothing voice. His voice alone creates a calm and comforting atmosphere, making it easy to listen to the episodes even during stressful moments of parenting. It's clear that he puts effort into creating an environment where listeners can relax and feel at ease as they explore the world of fatherhood.
However, one critique I have is that sometimes the topics discussed on the podcast can be heavy and emotionally intense. While this is part of what makes the podcast so valuable, there were times when I wished for lighter topics or more moments of levity. It would be nice to hear some episodes focused on humorous anecdotes or fun activities fathers can engage in with their children.
In conclusion, The Welcome to Fatherhood podcast is an incredible resource for new fathers seeking guidance and support on their journey into parenthood. Kelly does an amazing job providing insightful conversations and creating a safe space for fathers to share their stories. With his soothing voice and relatable content, this podcast is definitely worth listening to and subscribing to.
Welcome to episode 1 of this new season (my fifth!)In this episode, I invite you to ask yourself this question, "Are you satisfied with the version of life you're currently living today, right now?" This is the question that's occupied my mind in recent weeks, and it's led me down a disorienting rabbit hole in the best possible way. How have you approached feelings of nonfulfillment and dissatisfaction? What has caused you to feel this way in your experience as a man, father? And what sorts of decisions have you made to overcome it or be overcome by it?Send me your story at wtfatherhoodpodcast@gmail.com ORDM me @welcometofatherhoodpod on IGwww.welcome2fatherhood.com
Experiencing a miscarriage as a man is a difficult journey. It's a path I've walked and it led to the creation of "The Miscarriage Dad" platform—aimed at educating, raising awareness, and supporting men and fathers who find themselves in this heart-wrenching terrain. It's an unfortunate reality that compelled me to reinvent my Instagram presence, focusing a little less on the Welcome to Fatherhood brand, to create a much-needed safe space for men grappling with loss.Theme MusicDreamweaver by Sound ForceFrom Premium BeatShow MusicNew Flow Who Dis by Ghost BeatzFrom Soundstripewww.welcome2fatherhood.com

His tale is one of caution and inspiration, shedding light on the importance of trusting instincts and navigating the complexities of the legal system.Gary's experiences serve as a stark reminder of the need to constantly fight for truth and justice. When you think about the journey of becoming a parent, the excitement and joy of expecting a child often come to mind. But what happens when that journey is abruptly halted by the heartbreak of pregnancy loss? As Brandon's story demonstrates, the journey of healing is ongoing, and it's through connecting with others that we can find the support and hope needed to move forward. So join us as we shed light on this deeply emotional topic, and let's create a space together where those who have suffered pregnancy loss can feel seen, heard, and understood. If you are a male partner looking for support following a loss of pregnancy, or you are with a male partner who could benefit from support, the Dads & Miscarriage Facebook community is here to help. We discuss the importance of engaging both parents from the beginning of the pregnancy, creating a level playing field for open communication, and understanding each other's roles and responsibilities.Scott also shares his thoughts on supporting both parents' mental health during the perinatal period, the progress made in the UK in providing support for dads, and the vital role fathers play in their child's life from the very beginning. This episode features a conversation with my guest, Emilio Diez Barroso.Emilio was a lifelong seeker—seeking recognition, achievement, love, success, and finally, the ultimate carrot: enlightenment. In his pursuit of enlightenment, he was forced to facewhat all the seeking had been trying to avoid: his own sense of unworthiness. Defeated at the game of avoiding and humbled by the realization of his true nature, he is now dedicated to alleviatingsuffering in the world. Emilio is married and is a father to three incredible teachers. He sits on the board of over a dozen companies, is the CEO of NALA Investments and is an active philanthropist, investor and entrepreneur. He has a master's in spiritual psychology and resides in Los Angeles.Emilio also authored a book titled: "The Mystery of You: Freedom Is Closer Than You Think". In The Mystery of You, he invites you to uncover a peace that is untouched by the happenings of life and encourages you to discover who you are beyond your familiar identities and roles. He grounds the awakening that was once reserved for monasteries into the nitty-gritty of everyday parenting, relationships and business. Emilio shows us how to stop the ways in which we perpetuate our own suffering and claim our inherent capacity to experience the bliss of being fully alive. As always, thank you for spending your Wednesday with us!You can always now visit the Welcome To Fatherhood website for more information. This episode features a conversation I recently had with some friends on the college campus where we all met nearly two decades ago. Three out of of the four voices featured in this episode met on the campus of Middlebury College (Derek, Bill, Kelly). The fourth voice (Eric) is the partner of our friend and Midd alumni, Lili; and though Eric is not a father, he graciously accepted my invitation to join in this conversation about fatherhood in spite of his initial skepticism. This conversation is special because it marks the first time Derek, Bill, and I spent time together not just as friends but also as Dads. And capturing this moment was a truly special accomplishment. Our conversation was broadly about fatherhood. It is full of empathy, encouragement, gushing over our children, perspective shifts, healing, and lots of laughter and good time as men. Please share your thoughts about this and/or any other prior episode(s) here or there; and rate the podcast as well! This episode features a conversation with my guest, Jane Honikman, M.S.Jane co-founded Santa Barbara Postpartum Education for Parents (PEP) in 1977. Ten years later in 1987 she founded Postpartum Support International (PSI). Jane has published 5 books, most recently Parental Mental Health: Factoring in Fathers. She and her husband Terry have lived in Santa Barbara since 1970, have 3 married children, and enjoy being grandparents to 8 grandchildren. In this conversation, Jane sheds some light on how she began her lifelong advocacy for equal parental consideration in the postpartum and mental health space by sharing intimate details of her past and the way that began to shape her. We talk about how having essential conversations about ones past and family history before conceiving and having children can help new parents be more grounded during the difficult days of parenthood. Jane shares a very valuable reframing of how the term "postpartum" should be better thought of and defined, explaining that this term is a lifelong adjective that still applies even in the phase of being grandparents. We conclude with discussing the value of openly talking about what can be difficult topics people experience in parenting as a means to push our society's perception of parenting forward in the right direction. Please share your thoughts about this and/or any other prior episode(s) here or there; and rate the podcast as well! This episode features part two of a conversation with my guest, Nathaniel H. Drew. Nathaniel H. Drew is a native of Hampton, Virginia and was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is an ordained minister, a licensed therapist, an author, and a coach. He currently pastors the Breath of Life SDA Church in Memphis, TN.He holds a bachelor's degree in theology from Oakwood University, and a Masters of Divinity degree from Andrews University Theological Seminary. He has been recognized for excellence in church leadership in the areas of church healing, church growth, stewardship, community outreach, and administration. A well sought-after public speaker, Nathaniel has spoken for audiences all across the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and South Africa.Nathaniel also obtained a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. He is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist, whose passion is to see the brokenness in the family system made whole. His personal vision is “Heal the family, change the world”.Nathaniel is an accomplished author of two books. The first is a devotional book entitled, While You're Waiting: God's ‘Not Yet' is Not a No. The second is entitled, 15 Ways to Make a Big Impact in a Small Church. His latest book was the catalyst that launched him into the coaching space. Nathaniel is the founder of The Pastor's Arena. A platform that was started to help pastors take center stage in their personal and professional lives. Nathaniel believes that the most significant impact a person can have is not what they achieve, but what they empower others to achieve. Through it all, Nathaniel considers his greatest accomplishment to be marrying the love of his life, Lillian Drew. A close second was the birth of their two daughters Linaya Joy and Noelle Desiree'.In this episode, Nathaniel and I open up about why it is so difficult for us to allow our respective fathers to have access to our child/children. This leads to some reflection and deeply moving perspective about what the nature of our relationships may be like with our child/children once we've aged. How will they feel about us as their father? What will they say? How will they describe us to others? We certainly don't have the answers, but we open ourselves up to reflecting on these questions.
