THE WEEK OF TRINITY XI - FRIDAYLESSON: LUKE 14:7‒11“Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:14We must take a look here at the foolish hypocrite, the Pharisee. He is adorned with the most beautiful works. First, he gives thanks to God, fasts twice in the week, and gives a tithe on his whole income to God, not to St. Nicholas or St. Barbara. He has not broken up his marriage or committed an act of violence against anyone. He is not the kind of man to insist on his rights; he has always preserved an unblemished record of piety. If that is not a fine, honorable life, I would like to know what is! No one could really fault this man; as far as the world is concerned, he deserved nothing but praise. In fact, he praises himself.God intervenes here to demonstrate that the works of this Pharisee are blasphemies. Lord God forbid! What judgement is this! Nuns and priests might well be dismayed here and tremble in the marrow of their bones. None of them are half as pious as this Pharisee. Would to God that there were still many such hypocrites and Pharisees today! What is there lacking in this pious man? The simple fact is that he does not really know his own heart. Here you see that we are our own greatest enemies, inasmuch as we close our eyes and heart. This man tells us how he feels. If I were to ask such a hypocrite, “My dear man, do you really mean what you say?” he would affirm with an oath that he has his facts quite straight. Note, however, how deep God's sword cuts, “piercing to the division of soul and spirit” (Hebrews 4:12). Here everything must crash in ruins and fall to the ground. Without humility, no one can stand before God.SL 11:1492 (17‒19)PRAYER: Open our eyes and hearts, O Lord, that we really recognize ourselves for what we are, miserable and wretched sinners, utterly lost and condemned if left to our own resources. Fill up our emptiness with Your grace and mercy, and continue to shower Your blessings upon us, in and through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.Editor's note: No American Edition (AE) equivalent for today's sermon excerpt exists at the time of this publication. Scripture For Today:Nehemiah 1:6“…let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's family, have committed against you.”What James Had to Say About Prayer pt 14We have been studying what the Apostle James had to say about prayer. We have been studying the verses from James 5:13-18: “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any Merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.  Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth by the space of three years and six months! And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Yesterday, I shared the reason I am able to receive prayers as answered is because I never give up on receiving my prayers as answered!  Glory to God! Sometimes they are answered immediately and sometimes it may take a few day. In some instances, it may take years. But I never give up. Let clarify that one minute… I never give up unless I'm moved by the Lord to “let it go.”  And usually, in those instances, it something that “I wanted to do” – but later found out, in the process of time, it would have turned out worse for me to have that prayer answered. You may find out the same things. It could be a career change or someone you think could be your partner in life – only to find out later it would have been disastrous. Amen! One example I can use, for me personally, was a career choice I had made. I was working and was doing really, really good. I'm talking one of the top rated agents in our company on a nationwide basis good. Amen! But then, it started shifting. Things were not working like they were supposed to and soon, I felt it was better to move on. But I kept praying it would turn around…  But those prayers were not being answered. Then, one day, I sensed the Lord saying, “Let it go…” Soon after, the entire organization I was a part of collapsed. Things like that is what I'm talking about today. There will be times when your prayers are not being answered. There is always – ALWAYS – a reason. It could be some sin in your life; some sin in the person you're praying for, their life. Or it could just simply be it is NOT the Lord's plan.   You need to be spiritually sensitive to these things. Amen! I want to pray for you now that you will begin to pray without ceasing, for yourself and others; that you will pray without saying anything similar to “Well, that didn't work” and things like that. But that you will also seek the Lord's Wisdom in matters where it seems your prayers are NOT being answered. Amen! Let's Pray! Although it has been temporarily closed during the coronavirus crisis, it was one of the highlights of my week to go into the room and spend time alone with God. Sermon on the mount series message 23Text: Matthew 7:13-14We now enter sacred ground, which has profound implications. Entirely contrary to the underpinnings of the spirit of the age in its various manifestations, Jesus asserts the path that leads to life is narrow, not wide. We'll go beyond the typical proof texting and see why - from the Sermon on the Mount - the exclusivity of the gospel is not only reasonable but entirely expected (and should be heeded).

Show Summary: “Take the reins of your subconscious; The embodiment of your power.”All human beings have experienced stress, toxicity, or trauma, which changed their perception of life. Some survived it, but some are still living in their dark past, which negatively affects their way of thinking and ability to make decisions.Implanting different subconscious programming to human beings' minds since childhood takes them away from knowing their real identity, contributing to someone's suffering. But to heal is to grow; to grow is to heal. No matter how difficult or challenging it may sound, it can be simply done if you know the right tools and steps. That's why Juanique, together with Audrey Taylor, have created a workshop to help you change your current mindset and thought patterns and help you reclaim your power back and take charge of your life. Their goal is to teach you how to fill your love and energy cup and attract the caliber of relationship & results you have with yourself. We’re offering you a 50USD discount on the workshop, during this episode!Important LinksJoin The Workshop - Get 50 USD Discount or use the code EARLYMASTERExceptional Highlight:Trauma doesn't come through intellectually; It comes in emotionally and energetically.Your trauma is not your fault, but it's your responsibility to heal it.I create my future by releasing the past. All betrayal is self-betrayal..Show Highlights: What kind of workshop are Juanique and Aubrey putting up?Aubrey 4:30We are designing for you all a beautiful Master Your Subconscious Workshop. We have been talking about the tools that people are using that are getting them a little bit of progress, but then maybe they plateau, flatline, or fall flat on their face, and they feel like they try, but it just doesn't work. So we wanted to talk about some of those things that maybe have a little bit of positive change but aren't like the full shebang, and you feel stuck. What do we do to heal?Juanique 8:23Something that you've mentioned to members in the past is that we have to have an identity crisis for us to heal. And that is terrifying. In fact, for most people, that's probably scarier than facing your disease because your disease feels tangible. The identity crisis is who you are, and this is your ego. We have to go back to the beginning and recognize our part in playing out these stories and energy. What is the victim-villain-hero analogy?Juanique 17:54Often, when we are in a situation that doesn't serve us, we play the victim, and there's a villain out there who's attacking you, and you want a hero. Part of the identity crisis is saying there are no victims, and there are no villains, there are no heroes, there's just being accountable for your part.Three things to do in the workshop to solidify change Aubrey 29:14We need something that is going to initiate a real subconscious shift. That would be an immersive workshop, not a seminar, not something where you are a passive participant and recipient of all this information. We’ll be (1)  teaching you, and then (2) you’ll be teaching each other and (3) we’ll be standing by as you practice independently.Support the show (https://www.mygutsyhealth.com/gutsy-family)

Today's Bible Translation Bible translation used in today's episode: Ch. 21-22 NASB, Ch. 23-24 CEV Support Please remember that this is a listener supported show. Your support of any amount is needed and very much appreciated. Find out how by clicking here. Thoughts In Exodus 21, the Lord had quite a lot to say about how to treat a slave. Many people over the years have misunderstood God's attitude toward slavery, especially in the light of the modern concept of slavery as it relates to United States history. I talked about this on episode 77 of this podcast, published on September 6, 2020. If you haven't heard that episode, I very much recommend you listen to it. Since I did address that topic there, I am not going to discuss it today, other than to say that in this chapter, it is obvious that God did not allow any mistreatment of slaves. The balance of chapter 21, all of chapter 22, and the first part of chapter 23 are laws governing how the people are to deal with one another. The laws given are in many aspects, the model for our own justice system.  And then in Exodus 24:3, we read, " Moses gave the Lord's instructions to the people, and they all promised, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded!” It sounds as if they have wholeheartedly accepted, and agreed to God's Law, doesn't it?  And that's the way that we humans are. We see what God commands, and in our mind, we say, "This sounds completely fair and right and true. I can live according to these things." But like Paul said in Romans 4:14-20: 14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. c For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.Romans 4:14-20 NIV I'm so glad that God has a plan to deal with the problem of my slavery to sin! Aren't you? The Law exposed our inability to live according to God's perfection, and Jesus' death and resurrection provided a way for me and you to be redeemed from a debt that we could never pay. Hallelujah!

“Lip or Life Service?” Matthew 21:28-32This Week’s Core Practice: Single-mindedness I focus on God and His priorities for my life.Matthew 6: 24, 31-33“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.Scripture: Matthew 21:28-3128 “ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘ Son, go, work today in my vineyard. ’ 29 He answered and said, ‘ I will not, ’ but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘ I go, sir, ’ but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father? ” They said to Him, “ The first. ”Jesus said to them, “ Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him.The Message of this Passage:From the Ligonier”s Ministry: “Jesus in today’s passage uses His discussion of John the Baptist’s authority with the religious leaders in Jerusalem as a springboard to explain why judgment is coming upon those covenant-breaking Israelites who believe themselves falsely to be God’s true people. The parable of the two sons is the first of three consecutive parables in which our Lord condemns faithless Israelites. The point of today’s parable is straightforward, namely, that it is better to obey without promising than it is to promise and not obey. As Scripture tells us elsewhere, words mean nothing if there are no deeds to back them up. It is easy to profess the truth, but our Father in heaven also demands that we do the truth as well. Those who initially refuse to submit to God but then turn to Him are His children, not those who honor Him with their lips and yet have hearts that never serve Him.Of course, the priests and elders believe they are represented by the obedient son. Jesus, however, has a different estimation. The tax collectors and prostitutes, those whom the leaders see as farthest from the kingdom, are those who in hearing the preaching of John and Jesus have recognized their poverty of Spirit and repented. John Calvin comments that although they are great sinners, “they are greatly preferable to the scribes and Pharisees in this respect, that they do not continue to the end in their vices, but, on the contrary, submit gently and obediently to the yoke which they had fiercely rejected.” It is the son who does not follow through on his pledge that represents the Jerusalem authorities; they have not seen their desperate need of forgiveness and consequently, have not turned from their sin (v. 32; see 3:7–10).Being able to discern the faithful son is actually an act of self-indictment on the part of the leaders. If they can rightly choose as faithful the son who left his disobedience, surely they must also be able to discern in themselves their own lack of righteousness and need of the Savior. Yet they never acknowledge their guilt. Let us never be so confident in our own goodness that we fail to recognize our need of repentance and forgiveness. For Personal Reflection and Discussion:What is the truth contained in the main point of this parable? What motivated the parableWhat is Jesus’ personal application of the parable? (v. 31)What does this parable teach us about service? In what ways are these two sons similar? How do those similarities apply to Jesus’ listeners and those of us that read this parable today? In what ways are the two sons different? Who do they represent? What do you think is the whole point of this parable? What point is Jesus making in verses 31–32? Why does He sound so harsh here? What does it mean that Jesus says the harlots and tax gatherers will get into the kingdom of God before the chief priests and elders of Israel? This parable is different from some of the others, in that there is no burning of one side, like the wheat and tares, and there is no casting of one side into the place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. Is there any significance to this fact? If so, what is it?Where would you place yourself on the spectrum of the older to younger brother? Highlights in Hebrews (with Roger Kirby)Part 24 - Hebrews 10:10–14We are holy!   “… we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."   Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” The dominant word here is ‘holy’, appearing twice. That is difficult because ‘holy’ is one of those words which tends to mean something rather different in our everyday usage from what it means in scripture. Holiness in common usage tends to mean something like being ‘so heavenly minded as to be no earthly use’! That is far away from scripture usage. ‘Holy’ is the prime attribute of God. He is pure; he is perfect love; he is true justice; he is different from everything else; he is wholly other and above and beyond all else. When the word ‘holy’ is applied to somebody or something on the earth it means they, or it. are so close to God that some of that holiness has ‘rubbed off’ onto them. We need to put together what our writer says here with what Paul says in Romans 12:1-2. To take what Paul says first he is interested in the practical effects of being holy. He says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” There is no beginning suggestion there, or anywhere else in scripture, that holiness requires withdrawal from every day life. It might be easier if it did! But it doesn’t. We have to live in the world but not in the way of the world. We have to have a different mindset, a different worldview, a different focus of all our endeavours. A different Lord.. We have to please God; we have to let as much of the holiness of God rub off on us as we can. That can only happen if we live in close proximity to him as much as possible. Or, to put it another way, we are to walk hand in hand with the Holy Spirit. That is Paul’s emphasis. But what about our writer here? He is more concerned with how this can possibly have happened. It is all because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. This is the positive aspect of what Jesus achieved. We probably, rightly, think more of the negative, of what he did as securing forgiveness of sin for us, sin past, present and future. Positively he set us on a way, a pathway, which we are to walk with the Spirit. He has perfected us! Perfected us in the sense that we cannot, could not, be any more acceptable to the Lord of All than we are through Jesus. We have reached an end a completion of our lives and characters. Wow! In that way I will test them, whether they will follow my instruction or not.”  9Then Moses said to Aaron, “Say to the whole congregation of the Israelites, ‘Draw near to the Lord, for he has heard your complaining.’ ” 10And as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the Israelites, they looked toward the wilderness, and the glory of the Lordappeared in the cloud. 11The Lord spoke to Moses and said, 12“I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”  13In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. 14When the layer of dew lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.”Psalm 78:23-2923So God commanded the | clouds above  and opened the | doors of heaven, 24raining down manna upon | them to eat  and giving them | grain from heaven. R 25So mortals ate the | bread of angels;  God provided for them | food enough. 26The Lord caused the east wind to blow | in the heavens  and powerfully led out | the south wind, 27raining down flesh upon | them like dust  and flying birds like the sand | of the seas, 28letting them fall in the midst | of the camp  and round a- | bout the dwellings. 29So the people ate and | were well filled,  for God gave them | what they craved. REphesians 4:1-161I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.  7But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore it is said,  “When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive;  he gave gifts to his people.”9(When it says, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is the same one who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.) 11The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. 14We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. 15But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.John 6:24-3524When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were [beside the sea,] they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus.  25When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.” 28Then they said to him, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” 29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30So they said to him, “What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? 31Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”  35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous. 13Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. 14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Amos 8:11-14We are living in unprecedented times in this small island called Britain.  Indeed, the prophet Amos warned Israel in his generation that there were days to come, when God was to send a famine into the land; not a famine of bread, nor of thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord!  As we survey the climate of the land of Britain, it seems apparent that a day such as this is indeed upon us as people run to and fro seeking the word of the Lord and yet are not able to find it!!The cry of this message goes forth to the body of Christ; we need to know the Bible in context for ourselves!!  The people of God lay scattered across the mountains, perishing through lack of knowledge of the Word of God.  It's time again to get into the Word of God like never before!!  Who will recognise the terror of these times we live in and give themselves wholly to God?
