Together, we explore how self-leadership is the bridge between inner trust and outer action. Angela shares strategies like the “Fabulous File” and “Belief Buddies” that help her stay anchored through moments of self-doubt, and reminds us that our true power lies not in perfection—but in our ability to pause, reflect, and choose aligned action. When I work with older ADHD women they often ask me, “I've made it through life this far, what would really change if I got a diagnosis?” Well, self-leadership coach and author Angela Raspass is here to answer that question, and her response is “everything.” Angela was diagnosed last year at 53, and even she was shocked by just how drastically her life was altered when she started to understand and accommodate her ADHD. She was lucky enough to find a medication that works for her brain, but Angela credits the biggest improvements to lifestyle and positivity changes, which have manifested into better relationships with her business, her family, and most importantly, herself. Angela's ADHD diagnosis allowed her to finally feel like she was taking the reins on her own life after so many years of not realizing the reins were even there. I hope her story inspires you to grab your own reins no matter your age. Inspired by a chat with her friend, and client, Angela Raspass, where Angela dropped the profound phrase 'Performance get applause. Rocking Midlife™- the Podcast Season 1. Episode 10. Angela RaspassI'm so excited to introduce today's guest who I first met a number of years ago when sheinvited me to an interview for her podcast. Angela Raspass is a Business and Life Mentor forwomen in their 40's and beyond who are yearning to step into their Next Chapter – their fullpotential, in business and life.Angela is a coach with a difference. Her warmth and genuine desire to see her clients findfulfilment in every area of their life is evident to those people who connect with her, and Iknow that the wisdom she shares when explaining her model around reinvention will inspiremany to embark on their own quest for a significant Next Chapter in life. Here are the key points around the model change that Angela shares in her interview:• Discontent is a sign that something new is available to you – the key is to give yourselfpermission to BE discontent and then explore what ‘s calling you• Defining what we Desire can be a challenge – the key is curiosity and some clues can besoap box moments, your values, your pits, Way Showers and what simply feels delightful.Remember, you need not get it perfect, you need not see the whole picture you need toonly take the first step.• Which requires a Decision to trust yourself, to give it a go! • Doubt is an inevitable part ofthe journey, lean into it. Don't allow the “Alien on your face” to block possibilities, recogniseand name the stories, put them to one side, reassure your Inner Critic and keep movingforwards.• Seek community – isolation is a dream killer. Consider investing in a Coach or Mentor tobuild momentum.• Keep a Gratitude List and finish it off with a “I'm proud of” to train your brain to filter andfind the positives.• Strategy to start and grow a business, or to take an existing one in a new directionrequires strategy, absolutely, but this must be matched with an equal focus on connectingyou to your inherent, indisputable self-worth so you have the belief and trust in you andyour vision. You can find Angela here: * https://www.angelaraspass.com/* Her gift to you – Your Journey Board: www.YourJourneyBoard.com.auEnjoyed this episode of the Rocking Midlife™ Podcast Show? We’re in the first months of a whole new decade, not just a new year, and you may have created some big goals that you want to achieve in business and life in this new chapter. When reflecting on where I’m at, I realised that the end of this decade I'll actually be in my 60s, and so I decided that now is the time to become the best version of me. That means in a business sense, I have some very clear plans for how I want to create more impact and be more supportive of my audience and my clients, and that’s going to demand sustained energy. And so this means ensuring I have the fitness and flexibility to do the things that I want to do. I was away with my family in the second week of January on holiday, and this is where I really started to recognise that changes needed to be made. I set some clear goals and then reflected on what I’d need to set myself up to achieve them and that’s what this episode is about - the core steps I believe we need to take to give any strong intention a greater chance of coming to fruition, whether it be a business or life goal. Show Notes Take time to outline and define what your intention or goal looks like in action One of my intentions was to make positive nutrition choices each day. But what does that actually look like? For me, it means no skipping meals, and to have fresh non-processed choices wherever possible. Invest in the tools or actions that will support you to reach your goals These can be specific tools or proactive actions and for me, they included gym membership, a nutrition app and, for the bigger picture, investing in a Mastermind. Utilise the power of Pre-commitment Pre-commitment is simply deciding in advance what actions or behaviours you're willing to do or not to do before you're actually confronted with the situation Behaviour and results are transferable The great news is that these behaviours, these supporting keys and tools can be used right across the board, in every area of your business and life. I certainly utilise them in my business, setting measurable goals that are both Smart and Heart. These simple tips are powerfully effective on their own, but by far the most powerful tool that you have at your disposal for anything you wanting to achieve in 2020 is to ensure that your internal dialogue is supportive and encouraging and liberally laced with self-compassion. You can read the extended blog post that compliments this Podcast and Show Notes here: https://www.angelaraspass.com/how-can-you-achieve-your-goals/
What do you stand for? It’s an important question to ponder. Write your manifesto with an open heart and mind. Be curious. Explore what’s important to you, what you stand for, believe and want for your clients, and for the world. Keep it private to inspire and motivate yourself or share it far and wide to inspire and motivate others, to create connection to begin conversations. I’ve had a manifesto from another website up on my wall for quite some time. It feels rather fabulous to now have my own. Show notes What I believe Next Chapters are built on skinned knees, where breakdowns become breakthroughs… Allow yourself to be fully seen and put good things into the world. It’s through your story that others will find their path, and what a joy and a privilege that is. Everything you need is inside of you now. Search for it. Give yourself permission to shine. Self-belief is your superpower. Your worth is unquestionable. Stay connected to your truth and always speak to yourself with compassion and encouragement. Cultivate a circle of support. Surround yourself with people who are real and connect with them deeply through experience. Share with genuine vulnerability. Fear is only excitement without breathing. Take that breath and act confidently and with courage, even when it’s hard. Be generous. Be grateful. These are the currencies of connection and abundance. There is no ‘perfect’. There is no magic formula. There’s only the right way for you, which you’ll find through experience, failures and kindsight. Respond. Don’t react. Find the power of the pause and allow yourself time to grow. This is an evolution, not a revolution. Always stand for something bigger than your services. They are a reflection of your greater purpose and vision. Remember that growth doesn’t always mean bigger. It can mean deeper Create your own definition of success. Make meaning your mission, contribution your focus and fulfilment your reward. Know that profit is the result of the right action. Your business needs to serve you just as much as you serve your clients. Sustaining your energy and enthusiasm is the goal. Step up and launch the ideas swirling in your head and your heart. Serve the people who need this now. They’re waiting… You’ve got this

Each year I host “Review and Renew”, an online event all about looking back at the year that was, evaluating your tangible and emotional achievements and then getting clear and planning for the year. It’s a fabulous experience that provides you with confidence and clarity no matter what stage of business you are at. It’s coming up again next week and I’d want to make sure you have your invitation to join us! You can register at http://bit.ly/Review2019Plan2020 to join me for the live training and discussion calls, the thought-provoking workbooks and the Q&A’s and prompts in the Next Chapter Facebook Community. Show Notes I'm a big believer in double planning - I really recommend that you take some time this side of Christmas to have a look back through your year and evaluate your results and then put some thought into what you want to create. Then put that aside, give yourself some breathing space and then come back for a review in early to mid-January. You’ll likely be surprised by the changes you then feel you want to make. Single session planning doesn’t allow this essential breathing space Please realise that when you review your year, the probability is that it will not look like you intended it to look at the beginning of the year. And that’s both ok and totally normal! I like to think of planning as providing light parameters, guidance for the year. Combine these intentions with wearing “glass blinkers” – these mean you’re focused, but you're also open to other possibilities. If you keep your vision front of mind and yet hold expectations of how you will get there lightly, you’ll have the expansive thinking that allows you to discern the differences between distractions and opportunities Consider your energy levels this year. How have they been? Is burnout lingering around the edges? Do you need to make changes in the way you work? Do you need to soften your goals? Do you need to get a little bit more realistic? There is a natural ebb and flow in our businesses - we can have a really hectic month or quarter, and then we need to breathe and have a more receptive, less hustle period as well. Do you allow this for yourself? We begin with reviewing your year, looking at the tangible and emotional achievements that you've had. What went well financially, and what lit you up emotionally? We need that combination in our businesses. How did you feel about delivering each service and product? Wildly enthused or somewhat like warm? We then move to looking at your Revenue “Pie”. Ask yourself, what financial contribution did each product and service make to your overall revenue? What changes need to be considered as a result? This leads to checking your “Success Gaps”. If a service line is not delivering as you anticipated, there may be a break in the chain at several points and it’s important to address the correct one. Is it a visibility issue? A marketing issue? Copy? Pricing? Is it that you need to work on your own confidence in sales conversations? Don’t throw out a product or service that you love and you can see a need for without understanding if it has been given every opportunity to succeed first. Your Offer Staircase is next – this is your product suite, the group of services and products and experiences and events that you offer to the market. As the staircase analogy suggests, people are moving up with you over time. They may begin with consuming some of your free items, or your low investment experiences as they get to know you and find resonance between their needs and your style. Over time they move into higher levels of intimacy and commitment with you, because what we're looking for is really to build long term relationships with clients, rather than have short term transactions with customers. Once these reflective foundations have been checked we begin to move forward, and look at your communication plan. This is all about visibility, and the reassurance that it is not your job to Convince and Convert people, but it is your job to be visible, so that you can communicate and contribute to your most aligned clients. It’s really important not to spread yourself too thin, rather you choose what I call your Marketing Megaphone and your Marketing Support Acts. Choose strategies and platforms that not only meet your clients where they are, but also allow you to play to your strengths, doing what you enjoy. You’re far more likely to market consistently in that case! The final stage in Review and Renew is the development of your Business Landscape and Snapshot. This is where you put collate the key ideas covering what you want to bring into the world in 2020. This is then developed into your Business Snapshot, a succinct one page plan that lays out the implementation of your plan across the year. I encourage you to invest your time and energy in this process, and to make the most of the opportunity to ask questions and consider new ideas and approaches – I’ll be in the Facebook Community every day ready to help! And if the 9.30am AEDT does not work for your time zone, I encourage you to register anyway, as the recordings will be made available to you and when you tag me in the group with your questions, although I may be asleep at the time, I promise to reply when I wake up! We live and work in such a hyper-visible and connected online world today. The windows and front door to our competitor’s businesses are wide open to us through their websites and social media platforms. And so we can find ourselves visiting all too often, obsessing over what services and programs they’re offering, how many comments they’re getting on their blogs and FB Lives, how many people are in their groups, what marketing activities they’re implementing and so on and so on… Occasionally these surreptitious forays can be positively affirming as you benchmark yourself. But in my personal experience, and in hearing the stories of dozens of clients, it’s far more common that these forays see you tumbling headfirst into The Comparison Trap. It’s a place I’ve often fallen into and that’s why I’ve created a 4 step approach to escaping it, quickly! Show Notes There is an endless number of people you could compare yourself, your business and your achievements too, and it’s all too easy to do so, even when you innocently believe you are just in “research mode”. That can be a slippery slope, with an inevitable sense of being on the losing side because there will always be someone who has done something that you wish you could have achieved or feel you should have accomplished by now. You’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg without the bulk of facts that underpin it. How do you know if that “incredible program” is actually selling? How do you know for sure that the owner of the website is happy and fulfilled with their work? How do you know if the “amazingly engaged” Facebook Group you’re lurking in is actually delivering new clients to the founder? How do you know that the pretty average looking course is not a huge profit producer? Even if the projected successes you’re seeing are true, are you actually comparing your business beginning with their mature middle? And is that the actual business that you want? Rather than comparing yourself with others, compare yourself with whom you were last week, last month, last year. Stay connected to your vision. Measure your progress. Create more than you consume. The Escape System brings in two modalities that I’ve found really useful – Acceptance Commitment Theory and the Emotional Freedom Technique. Notice: Recognise the tension Name: Identify the thoughts you are choosing to have and the emotions they are causing Neutralise: Detach from the misbeliefs and release the emotions Nourish: Take care of yourself with a self-compassion plan In essence, the system is about awareness (notice and name) and action (neutralise and nourish). A strong mindset is an essential part of being in business for yourself and The Escape System is just one way that I can help you as you discover, deepen and expand in Your Next Chapter. TITLE Sensitive Souls Can Be Prone to Addiction with Angela Raspass GUEST Angela Raspass EPISODE OVERVIEW We discuss the struggle that some Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) have with addiction. Angela shares her recovery story and provides the tools she uses on a daily basis to be her best. We talk about the importance of trusting yourself and leaning into your strengths. Sometimes, what we feel is a weakness, is really our greatest gift(s). Angela talks about the different types of inner critics we have. With addiction, you’re not a bad person, just a sick person who needs to be loved back to life. HIGHLIGHTS Angela didn’t realize she was a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), but in “kindsight” she realized she is an HSP and she struggled with emotions Angela felt like a chameleon, trying to be a specific way so people would approve of her Angela grew up in Australia and began struggling with alcohol addiction in high school Angela used alcohol to numb the pain; help with feelings of insecurity, and to help her forget her self-loathing Angela felt like she was walking around without skin Alcohol helped her interact with people, without worrying about what people thought about her, and her belief that she did not measure up Angela talks about what it means to be a high-functioning alcoholic We discuss Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN), which can happen if a parent is NOT an HSP, and the child is Those HSPs who had “difficult” childhoods have a higher rate of anxiety and depression Angela has been sober for 13 years and she is passionate about helping others Angela got to a point where she could NOT stop alcohol; she was emotionally dependent on it. It can be very hard to ask for help. We have a feeling we should be able to stop drinking on our own Brene Brown says that shame needs secrecy to survive, but if you bring it into the light, you can find freedom With the Cycle of Addiction, you use something to stop feeling bad, and then you feel bad for using it, so you use it again With addiction, the addict tries everything to try and trick the addiction. The biggest step is to surrender Recovery is about stopping living in the problem and starting living in the solution You’re not a bad person who needs to become good; you are a sick person who needs to get well, and you need to be loved back to life Angela’s perception is that everyone at recovery identifies as very sensitive—like people, who felt like they had no skin. There is power in naming what is going on and sharing it and allowing people to see our vulnerability Emotions are created by thinking, and HSPs think much more than non-HSPs It’s important to know our triggers—things like comparison, envy, jealousy Recovery is about needing tools to recognize the emotions that are behind the feeling. You can allow yourself to move through uncomfortable feelings and not get stuck. It’s all about self-realization. Angela gets through emotions a lot quicker now because she honors her feelings, and she recognizes them, which allows them to pass Tara Brach talked about the second arrow. The first arrow is the pain, and the second arrow is the hard time we give ourselves over feeling the pain We need to keep ourselves in a fit spiritual state Angela has tools she calls Bookends and Park Bench BookEnds – are used at the beginning and end of day Morning Book End: First thing in the morning, Angela uses daily Calm App, 10-15 minutes, to do a short meditation before doing anything else in the morning Evening Bookend: Gratitude Journaling about 4-5 things that she’s grateful for, and a few things she did well In the middle of the day, Angela uses the tools of Park Bench. She sits down, breathes, thinks and appreciates Additional tools include being sure she is sleeping well, eating well, and using bookends and park bench Angela understands the true nature of who she is, and if she cares for herself emotionally and physically, she won’t have to go back to where she was when she was using Russ Harris – ACT - Acceptance, Commitment Therapy is what helped Angela. Actions of confidence come first, feelings of confidence come later You need to practice it for a while before you actually begin to feel confident What are your values/strengths? Self-care is important. You need to do the work to show up in the world. Taking steps on a daily basis builds a sense of self-esteem and lets us know we can count on ourselves Some HSPs have a struggle with being sensitive to other people’s opinions When the real you emerges, you can make decisions that honor who you are. Angela talks about feeling like her business was killing her; she was sad, stressed and was smoking. She was sensitive about other people’s opinions, but she closed that business, which was what helped her move to the next level It’s okay to design a business around your sensitivity—to play to your strengths You can use a strengths-finder quiz online to find your strength. Angela’s is positivity. Angela tells others, “You can borrow my belief in you until you believe it yourself” Is your addiction costing you more than money? It is taking an emotional toll? Is it affecting your relationships? how often are you thinking about drinking? There’s no shame in asking for help Abstinence is like having a tiger in a cage, that stays locked in the cage, but moderation in terms of addiction is like opening the cage every so often and letting the tiger out There are AA volunteers to help you There is also Smart Recovery, though Angela did not take that option. Once you decide, you can look into the “next chapter” – you recognize your values and strengths. Angela offers a confidence guide on her website She also has a quiz to figure out what type of inner critic you have: perfectionist, mean girl, imposter, etc. Finally, Angela’s website has a guide to breakthrough those critical walls. Angela would tell her younger self that it’s okay to feel things, and it’s a superpower that gives you an opportunity for a deeper connection Angela is about to launch YourNextChapter.com and is publishing her book, Your Next Chapter. QUOTES “Shame needs secrecy to survive.” “I felt like I was walking around without skin.” “You keep getting the messages from the world that you’re a bit strange, and that you don’t fit; that does hurt.” “I just turned 50, and it feels like life is just beginning. Turning this next chapter is exciting.” “I’m no longer working on auto-pilot. Things are getting better and better since I stepped into recovery.” “Life is so much brighter with emotional freedom.” “You don’t have to do your business by the book.” GUEST BIO Angela Raspass is Business Mentor and Podcast Host who supports businesswomen craving more fulfilment in their life to confidently identify and turn their ideas and experience into unique, tangible and impactful business models. Conscious Confidence Radio - A Timeless Wisdom with Sarah Mane: Stepping into your Next Chapter with Confidence and Clarity! with guest Angela Raspass!
Encore: One day you may wake up at the top of a ladder and realize that its leaning against the wrong wall for you. If that happens, dont panic! Its never too late to begin Your Next Chapter and the wisdom and experience you have gathered on the journey will contribute to the next wonderful stage of your life, career or business!
This week’s episode was inspired by a conversation I had where a client and I discovered the impact of what I call the Chameleon Effect. This is a phenomena that occurs when, for a variety of reasons, we have lost our own value anchors and find ourselves twisting and turning ourselves into a shape that reflects what we think the audience wants of us, whether that be in a job interview or a conversation with a potential new client. It’s what happens when we fall into wanting to be seen and picked rather than recognised and selected and that’s not a great option for either party. Show Notes Brene Brown shares that the desire to belong is a deeply held value of all people, so much so that we’ll settle for fitting in, Clarity on your personal brand and message – what you stand for, believe n and wants for your clients is a cornerstone of being able to be “recognised” Congruence across all platform sand touch points is important- will I equally recognise you on a Facebook post, an Instagram story, in a video, on a blog, in person? Being yourself means owning what you now and what you want to contribute to the world Your uniqueness, your individuality, your foibles, your experience, your stories, your skinned knees and honesty are your greatest offerings. They differentiate you. They allow you to be recognised by the people you are here to serve. These qualities – the qualities that reflect who we “really are” – allow us to attract our greatest allies, our most valuable clients and customers, and our most loyal colleagues. You are not here to please everyone! The World of Thirds concept tells us that 1/3 of the audience will likely actively disagree with what we have to say or offer, the next third will not really care, but the final third, your third, will resonate deeply with your message. It is not your job to convince or convert the first 2/3’s – it is simply your role to connect with, contribute to and communicate with your third When you embody who you are you will create your strongest relationships, feel anchored and authentic, connected to your integrity and perhaps most importantly, have fun! Take some time to reacquaint yourself with your values and reflect on how you are showing up – are you anchored in your story, your unique approach to the world? If you need a little adjustment, take action. You’ll be glad you did.
One day you may wake up at the top of a ladder and realize that its leaning against the wrong wall for you. If that happens, dont panic! In this week's Wise Women Conversation I have a chat with Angela Raspass who is a Business Mentor who helps women create their Next Chapter Business. Many women in their mid-stage if life decide to start businesses that fulfil them and give them purpose. Our conversation takes many different paths as we discuss the longing for face to face connection that many women have as well as women's search for something different in their life. Angela shares that it is important to follow your heart but the thing that often stops women is a lack of confidence. She advises that sometimes we need to act with confidence first and the feeling of confidence will follow. There is so much gold in this conversation and I am sure that you will enjoy it. If you would like to learn more about Angela pop over to the podcast webpage where you will find all of her links.
I’m finally back Podcasting after a long break! I know that for me time and space for creativity, consideration and relaxation is essential so that I can contribute at the highest level, and I have so much to share with you in 2019. In this episode, I am introducing you to The Next Chapter Model of Change. I realised that within all of the interviews I have staged and in the mentoring sessions, masterminds and retreats I have facilitated there was a model of change I was seeing as women began or realigned their businesses. And so I’m outlining the model for you so you anticipate what’s coming up or understand why and what you are feeling… The model is also at the core of my book I’m in the midst of writing – perhaps you can be one of my accountability buddies for this major project!?
As the year draws to a close, we all look back at how things have gone. Unfortunately, we have a natural negativity bias built into our brains and thus, can then focus on what we didn’t achieve in the year, rather than what we did! It ‘s important to reverse gap yourself evenly. Rare is the person who managed to hit all their goals in any given year. With all of the Masterminds I’ve facilitated, Retreats I have hosted and Mentoring Sessions I have held, I’ve been privy to an immense range of industries and individuals and what I’ve seen is that it’s common to over estimate what we can achieve in a year, and under estimate what we can achieve in three.
You need to be visible to have an impact and make a difference with Your Next Chapter Business. You may have exactly what someone need to close the gap they have. But if they can’t find you, they can’t be exposed to your solutions, your stories and your experience. So it’s time to create a simple Visibility Plan that leverages your skills and meets your Most Aligned Clients where they are.
From the earliest days of teenage angst, locked away in my bedroom journaling intensely, I seem to have been asking the question “what am I here for???” I still check in with that question today. Quite regularly. But now, rather than seeking a lightening bolt of inspiration from the sky, I’m asking it to pivot, to stay on my path, to ensure I am aligned in my business and life. And given the fact there are more than 135,000 searches on Google for “purpose” each month, it seems that I’m in good company. And so are you. I believe our Next Chapter Businesses are very much at the intersection of contribution and fulfilment. We’re happiest when we are being of usefulness and value to others, using our unique talents, skills and life experiences to serve. When we feel light and energised, immersed in work that has meaning for us in a business that serves us just as much as it serves our clients. This new series on the Your Next Chapter Podcast, Business and Life Beyond 40, explores Purpose, Passion and Reinvention through wholehearted conversations with women who have evolved, through choice or circumstance, to a new chapter in their working lives. I hope that by listening into the stories they share about where they have been, where they are now and where they are going to, you’ll find both inspiration and satisfaction.
A passionate focus on making a difference and a contribution with Your Next Chapter Business is so very important. At this stage of life, that feeling of fulfilment and significance is vital – soul food even. But even the most passionate of business owners would soon feel deflated if they did not have actual clients to work with! I’ve heard the lament so often – “if someone else could just take care of the marketing so I can just focus on doing what I love – the actual service, that would be heavenly”. Heck, even I feel that way some days and I’m a marketer by trade! We both know the truth. Client Attraction and subsequently generating cashflow is essential for our business growth. And that means taking action. Consistently. But the news is good! You can design your business model to complement your skills and preferred way of working and you can also choose the marketing activities that align with you and meet your potential clients where they are. You can be of high service whilst marketing, providing valuable and useful resources and experiences. You can have wholehearted sales conversations that are “elegant invitations to transformation”. Nothing about client attraction needs to be out of alignment with your values or feel manipulative, pushy or uncomfortable. It does often mean you need to develop new skills or make changes to experience success but hey, you’re a life long learner, aren’t you? In this episode Kellie O’Brien, Kristy Smith and I discuss what we’ve learned, adopted, changed and introduced into our business models and lead generation strategies as we and our businesses have evolved over the years.
As the end of 2017 draws ever nearer, we need to take the time to review our year, to consider what went well, what didn’t go quite as planned and what you will continue, change, let go of and introduce for the new year. In my Mastermind end of year review sessions, we talk about how the year can deliver curve balls, medicine balls and wrecking balls – in all, it seldom goes exactly as you envisaged! What is vital is your ability to reflect and extract the learning’s from your experiences, to tune into your heart and make some choices about how you’d like to show up in 2018. And so this audio training walks you through some of the key steps to do just that and it comes complete with a copy of my slides from the webinar this audio is drawn from and the workbook attendees received to complete – to turn their ideas into action.
I believe that having a strong “Circle of Support” – practices to help you stay physically, emotionally and spiritually buoyant and connections, community and mentoring to build your mindset and boost your growth, is a vital part of your Next Chapter journey.

So much so that I’ve decided to open up one Podcast episode a month to wholehearted discussion about all things mindset and personal development. We’ll range across a myriad of topics when we get together, sharing our own experiences and exploring common themes and new ideas, and welcome your questions too. February is the new January in my world! Or at least that’s the way it has been in 2017… I’ve begun the year a little later than usual and, rather than default to my old patterns of berating myself over what I haven’t done, I’m choosing to embrace what I have and what I will instead. And that means leaning into intuition in 2017 and making some changes. The beauty of having your own Next Chapter business that is often a personal brand is the fact that you get to design, refine and realign it to fit you. That’s the entrepreneurial freedom that is so often referred too. Not necessarily the “laptop lifestyle” where you get to work from anywhere in the world, but the simple ease and joy of making the choices that light you up and serve your clients and community too. And so, after a lengthy “time out” over Christmas and new year, prioritising my family and the changes that are happening in our dynamic, I’m delighted to be back to Podcasting and anticipating a wonderful year ahead! I’m sharing some of the upcoming changes within the Next Chapter Community in this weeks episode as well as some shared wisdom about glass and rubber balls… If you are enjoying this show, please take a moment to review the Next Chapter Podcast in iTunes - your feedback is hugely appreciated and very helpful. If you have not left an iTunes review before and are not quite sure how to, I've created a page on my website that takes you through the very easy steps- you can view that page here. It’s It’s that time of the year isn’t it? The time were we begin to reflect on the year that has been and looking forward to the year that will be. The questions politely sit in the back of your mind and wait for your attention. They may be patient, but they’re persistent little suckers and won’t leave you alone until you give them the time they want and need. They’ll be quite personal and unique for each of us, but in essence we’re wondering. How was this year? Am I satisfied? Did it go well? What could I have done better? What will the new year be like? Am I on track, on purpose? Is it time to change? Or shall I continue? I’m in exactly the same boat right now. Considering, questioning, evaluating, comparing, wondering, thinking… and in this weeks episode I share my experiences of 2016 with you, the pain and the growth, the rule breaking and the letting go, the gratitude and the new intentions. I encourage you to gently, with self-compassion and optimism, regard your year behind and the one waiting for you to step into… If you are enjoying this show, please take a moment to review the Next Chapter Podcast in iTunes - your feedback is hugely appreciated and very helpful. If you are in business, you are in sales and that fact can be decidedly intimidating for many women,. In this episode I briefly cover 6 steps that can help take you from uncertainty and nervousness to clarity and confidence, into the world of Wholehearted Sales Conversations! Why is it that sales can be so tricky for us? I believe there are a few key reasons… Sometimes it’s because we entwine our self-worth with the service we provide and that can tie us up in knots when we need to “sell ourselves”. Sometimes it’s because we’re not talking to the right people, our most aligned clients, and there is simply not a match between what is needed and what we can offer. Sometimes it’s because we lack a clear structure to guide us through a conversation and so we end up giving so much great advice on the call that there is then no motivation for our client to take the next action, because they’re full! And sometimes it’s because we’re not coming to the call as an Advocate for our potential clients greatest good and are too invested in a certain outcome, and that energy hijacks the conversation. I am a HUGE book fiend, usually with 3 or 4 on the go at once and I’ve decided that I’d like to provide a review of some of my favourites here on the Podcast each month that I strongly feel will make a contribution to your Next Chapter Business and Life. This month I’m sharing “The Abundance Code” – How to bust the 7 Money Myths for a rich life now by Julie Ann Cairns. I listened to an interview with Julie Ann on the Hay House Summit and, recognising that money myths and blocks have played, and still play, a big role in my own entrepreneurial journey, decided that this was a book that needed to be in my world. In this enlightening and empowering book, Julie talks about the 7 money myths that can hold us back from creating the wealth and abundance that we seek and how it is the interplay of Desire, Knowledge and Belief that determines the level of success that we will experience. She talks us through how to become aware of the blocks we have based on the level of frustration and lack of flow we may experience – red flags that let us know we need to place attention here. It’s a highly recommended read. If you are enjoying this show, please take a momentto reviewthe Next Chapter Podcast in iTunes - your feedback ishugely appreciated and very helpful. There’s been something brewing in the air lately. Change is afoot, many of us are feeling this new energy and it can be unsettling. Old stories reemerge. Old feelings turn up again. New desires and new directions tease us and we’re not sure if we can go there or not. I’ve had many conversations over the past few weeks about this disquiet. Perhaps it’s been because so many planets are in retrograde? Who knows! But the reality is irrefutable, Change is in the air. You might know exactly what you need to do to embrace this next chapter (a chapter within the chapter perhaps?) But you might be held back by fear, sadness, resentment, anxiety or regrets whether they be conscious or unconscious. So in this weeks episode I’m sharing an exercise, a Personal Inventory exercise, that may provide you with the insight and keys to break free, let go and move forward. I hope it’s helpful – it’s certainly unlocked a lot of stuff for me! How do you start your day? How do you end your day? I'm a big believer in the power of Intention - making a conscious choice to embed a supportive routine into your day. I'm not talking perfection or rigidity here, just a gentle commitment to yourself, to create an atmosphere that sets you up the likelihood of a more successful day, because you have chosen to create a positive headspace, even if you've only managed to take 5 minutes for yourself. In the past I fell into the routine of waking up and immediately rolling over the check my phone for emails. Immediately plunging into headspace of my To Do list. Immediately feeling the pressure descend, the pressure that scattered any lingering remnants of restful slumber! I usually followed that up by arriving at my desk in a rather hyper state after the crazy morning breakfast, lunch boxes, school bus and train run, plunging into my To Do List that had been taunting me since 6am. And the evenings? Quite often I fixated on what I didn't get done and thus the whole slightly crazy routine would repeat itself in the morning. Groundhog day. And when I finally realised that this wasn't serving me (rising stress levels anyone?) I began to open to an alternative way of being, creating what I have termed "The Bookends of my Day". It's taken awhile for me to discover that works best for me, I can say with conviction that there really are some simple changes you can make that will make a significant difference to your days too. I've made a copy of my "Weekly Planning Guide" available to you - this has been an important next step for me to ensure the feeling of focus and flow continues throughout my working days once I've "bookended" my morning. You can download a copy right here and hope you find it valuable too - it's a little different from a normal planner! Expressing what you do, the outcomes and impact that you provide for your clients in an open hearted and compelling way opens the door to a wholehearted conversation. When your initial description resonates with the listener, when they can feel your enthusiasm, empathy and experience and recognise that what you have to offer just may be exactly what they have been looking for, you have potential alignment. There's no need to “rote learn” or communicate a sales pitch, you can simply open your heart and share. It is however, often handy to have a framework to utilise that can help you to both build your own confidence and create the connection you seek, without any hiccups or hesitation. In this Episode I share that framework – talking you through how to say what you do in a captivating way so you connect with those people you are most aligned with, the ones you are here to take care of. I also share a fabulous free resource, a guide that steps you through exactly how to craft your own Captivating Statement – a framework with ample room for you to personalise it with your own style and flavour. You can download the resource right here. If you are enjoying this show, please take a moment to review the Next Chapter Podcast in iTunes - your feedback is hugely appreciated and very helpful. If you have not left an iTunes review before and are not quite sure how to, I've created a page on my website that takes you through the very easy steps - you can view that page here. I believe Your Next Chapter business needs to serve you as much as it serves your clients because you will do your best work when you are feeling fulfilled and energised, and that comes far more easily when you are truly connected to the clients you are best equipped to serve and help. People buy not because they understand what you have to sell, but because they feel understood. They invest when they feel your empathy, your certainty and your confidence that you can guide them to the outcome they are seeking. Everyone needs to move through their own buying cycle and to aid this journey, you need to have a good understanding of the TOMPPA – the “top of mind problem, pain or aspiration” that they have and how you can be the bridge between where they are now and where they want to be. Creating a Most Aligned Snapshot that includes a clear outline of this TOMPPA to refer to whenever you are creating messaging, content or services is a great place to start.
