Why are Christians Keeping the Feast of Tabernacles? The page to learn about the North Kansas City Feast site is https://firstcenturychristianity.net/fot-2025/You may be hearing about Christians who keep the biblical festivals and are wondering what that's all about. As it turns out, the first century church continued to observe the biblical holy days. In fact, both Gentile and Jewish people who accepted Yeshua, Jesus, as the Messiah, continued to fellowship in the synagogues for over a hundred years after Yeshua ascended. We see hints of this in the New Testament, notably at 1 Cor 5 when Paul reminds the Corinthians to continue keeping Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, the Spring biblical holy days, as an analogy for addressing some other problems in their assembly. Keeping these days were so not in doubt that Paul is able to use them as analogies, like we would use Thanksgiving or the 4th of July today. In other words, it is completely taken for granted that the gentile converts in Corinth are observing Passover that Paul is able to use that practice at a teaching tool. What about the Feast of Tabernacles, also called Sukkot? This festival happens in the fall. It was ordained, just like Passover, as a memorial of the Exodus. The Israelites had to live in temporary dwellings for 40 years in the wilderness so this festival is a reminder of that. But it's also a humongous celebration because they got to cross into the promised land and enjoy the food and freedom that came with living the way God intended in the land He set apart!Passover is a memorial of the Exodus and crossing into the Promised land but we all know now that it was a prophecy of the Messiah, the Lamb of God, coming down from heaven to live a sinless life and bear our transgressions. Tabernacles follows this same pattern. It's a memorial to living in temporary dwellings, called sukkot, the plural of sukkah. That's a reminder that our time in this life is temporary, that there is something more out there. But there is a specific prophecy about this observance in the Old Testament book of Zechariah, chapter 14, verses 16-18. This prophecy states that at a future time, the entire world will either observe the Feat of Tabernacles. Those who don't will die by famine because there will be no rain on their lands. This is a future prophecy. Nothing like this has ever happened in history. Most who study prophecy and believe this will happen place the event in the 1000 year Messianic kingdom that begins when Yeshua, Jesus, returns. Whenever this happens, though, it's a prophecy about all nations keeping the Feast of Tabernacles in the future. So many of us ask why not now? Many Christians have returned to the practices of the first century church because it just makes sense. The bible is one story, from Genesis to Revelation, about God's relationship with mankind and His desire to have a relationship with us. A big blessing in keeping God's holy days is that our faith and our lifestyle become one. We who keep these days walk out our faith all year long, planning for the next set of holy days, enjoying the last ones, and living the way we believe all mankind will live when Yeshua, Jesus, returns. We will be hosting the Feast of Tabernacles in North Kansas City this year (2025). This year, we are going to teach the basics of why the holy days apply to Christians. The dates are October 7-14 and we would love for you to join us whether you are local or coming from out of town. Please consider joining us and you can find the information and register at the FOT25 link on firstcenturychristianity.net. I will post that link wherever this gets posted. You may also join us each week for services, online or in person, every Saturday at 1pm central time. Thanks for your time and may YHVH bless you and keep you, in the Name of His Son, Yeshua.

"It feels good to be grateful. Gratitude opens your heart and unleashes a power of love.” - Mark Hulet As we head more into the holidays, this season helps us become more aware of the level of gratitude in our lives. Join Dr. Michelle Robin as she invites Mark Hulet from the YMCA of Greater Kansas City to share some lessons and insights he's learned over the course of this year. He'll speak about what it means to reflect and forgive, and why sometimes we can get stuck in a place with relationships by thinking about what should be next – when really it's important to first pause and find gratitude in those relationships. As he prepares to start his 24th year at the YMCA, he'll also explain the impact their nonprofit has had on families' lives in Kansas City this year – and why they couldn't do what they do in the community without their volunteers. About Today's Guest: In July 2023, Mark Hulet became the 11th chief executive officer to lead the YMCA of Greater Kansas City since it was founded in 1860. Hulet has served as interim president and CEO from January 1, 2023. Hulet's background includes all aspects of YMCA leadership, philanthropy, operations, and support. He began his YMCA of Greater Kansas City career in 2000 as an executive director of a Y membership center, and has held various positions including chief operating officer, senior vice president of capital assets and risk, and vice president of membership. As interim president and CEO, Hulet successfully launched the current strategic plan to address organizational culture, operational excellence and sustainability as the Y recovers from the pandemic. During the pandemic, Hulet led the reopening of Y centers and programs as chief operating officer, including mobilization of resources and programs to provide childcare for essential workers, combat social isolation for older adults and support vaccine distribution throughout greater Kansas City. Over the years, Hulet has provided operations and philanthropic leadership and established innovative partnerships. Projects have included partnerships for the Y to operate community centers in Platte County and North Kansas City and bringing the University Health primary care clinic to the Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center. In addition, he led capital projects including the construction of the new Kirk Family YMCA in downtown Kansas City, MO, and the renovations of the Linwood and Atchison Y's as part of the largest capital campaign in the Y's history. A longtime Kansas City resident, Mark has two sons, Keagan and Killian, and three grandchildren, Gracelynn, Raiden, and Ruari. During today's episode, Dr. Michelle Robin invites John Mikos, who is the CEO of the YMCA in Greater Kansas City, to share why kindness is such an integral part of who they are and everything that they do. John began his career at the Y as a lifeguard when he was a teenager, quickly deciding this was the place he wanted to work for the rest of his life – a big reason being the kindness the organization shows every day to its community. He also shares some examples about how they incorporate many of their core values into their youth programs to help kids grow with an understanding and awareness about how these things impact their spiritual, mental, and physical health. About Today's Guest: John Mikos became the CEO of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City in 2019 after serving as the Chief Operating Officer since 2013. He's led many progressive developments with the Y in Kansas City, bringing focus to innovative integrated health programs, fostering the Y's vision, and building great relationships with health and community partners across the region. Since joining the organization, Mikos has been part of the downtown YMCA/Kirk Family Community Center breaking ground at the former Lyric Theatre building, as well as the expansion and renovation of facilities, including the Atchison Family YMCA/Cray Community Center and the Linwood Family YMCA/James B. Nutter, and Senior Community Center. Mikos has also worked with North Kansas City government to renovate its area location. Prior to joining YMCA of Greater Kansas City, John held the Chief Operating Officer positions at both the YMCA of Western North Carolina in Asheville and the YMCA of Greater Tulsa. If you're thinking you'd like to try for a company officer or to move up to a chief officer position, I have a question for you: Who has been your example for how you should lead? I ask because the leadership landscape has changed over the last few years. Even in my business, TV news, I was once told that you can't just tell people to jump and expect them to ask, “How high?” anymore. So you can imagine that the old ways of being in charge aren't really appreciated anymore. But people are slow to change their ways, and if you're working with a salty officer who became a firefighter 15 or 20 years ago, you might be seeing a bad example and not even realize it. That's why I'm talking with today's guest. Sal Scarpa believes we can lead today's younger firefighters in better ways than simply barking commands at them. Sal is the Fire-EMS Chief for Columbus, Georgia. He's also the Emergency Management Agency Director for Columbus and Muscogee County. He's been in the fire service for over 30 years, having worked in Kansas City, as well as Shawnee, Kansas, and the North Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department.

A rough week for Nick. He and Nigel hopped in the FJ Mobile Studio-Mobile and trekked to North Kansas City for a visit with Bri Burrows at The Big Rip Brewing. Unfortunately, Nick somehow didn't have the power cord for his soundboard in the bag and we almost didn't have a show. But never fear, Super Dave was there! David Dutchman stepped in with a handy extra power cord and the guys were able to talk with Bri about her entry into her, the almost 10-year-old Kansas City brewery and a slew of other topics bouncing around in their heads. Oh, and Bri sings, too! Mystery beers: Cinnamon Roll Pastry stout, Toppling Goliath Brewing; Foeder Force One, Diametric Brewing; and More Stout, Big Muddy Brewing.
Mallory and Jess find even more places to grab a drink in Kansas City! They try out a new self-serve wine bar in North Kansas City called Sail Away Wine, then they head to the Iron District after that. Last stop is Vignettes (a favorite of Mallory's) to check out their newest pop up, Apparition: Cantina! The Star Wars themed pop up bar was a great experience from decor to drinks!

Over the last two years, parents of public school kids across America woke up and had the time to pull back the curtain and actually see what was going on in their kids' classrooms. Many of these parents knew something was 'off'. The more they dug into these issues, the uglier things were. Sleeping parents finally decided to get involved, took action, demanded accountability from their local schools and their boards and have now stepped up to bring conservative, common-sense values back to public education. Daryn and Randy interview conservative school board candidate, Duane Bartsch from the North Kansas Public School District in North Kansas City, MissouriKeep up with Duane at https://www.bartschnkcschools.org-------------------------------------SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS FOR THIS SHOWGet accurate, honest and true news by reading The Epoch Times.
