Supporting friends going through divorce requires empathy, patience, and allowing them to grieve and heal at their own pace. It is important to avoid speaking negatively about the ex-spouse in front of children and to create a safe and honest environment for them. Brandi Wilson is on a mission to help women in ministry lead and thrive in their roles. She shares her story of finding hope and healing from divorce and how her experiences sparked her passion for coaching women who have walked a similar path. She reminds listeners that divorce does not define you or sideline you because no one can take God's call on your life. Brandi shares her journey from divorce to where she is now and how she learned to voice her needs and ask for help. As she was healing from divorce, it seemed easier to do things on her own, but she realized that it is vitally important to ask people for help when needed. Asking for help takes courage and bravery, but Brandi encourages anyone healing from divorce and facing a future they never anticipated to take things one day at a time. There is no perfect formula for healing from divorce, but looking for the small victories can keep you thankful and focusing on God's goodness.
New year, new you? If you're finding yourself unexpectedly starting a new chapter in life, Brandi Wilson is here to offer words of wisdom from her own life experience. We often talk about restored marriages on this show because that is a core part of Mark and I's story. However, we recognize this is not the case for every couple. Restoring a marriage takes two willing people, and if there is only one, the marriage may end in an unwanted divorce. My guest, Brandi Wilson, understands this reality all too well.In 2016, her husband, who pastored a megachurch, walked away from the church and their family. As Brandi's 20-year marriage dissolved, she also lost her church community, her dreams for the future, and a huge part of her identity. She and her three boys began a new journey marked with deep grief and suffering but also with hope, freedom, and peace.Today, Brandi thanks God for the redemptive healing in her life and reassures other newly single women that they are not alone and that divorce is not the end of their story. In this conversation, you'll hear:Encouragement for life after divorceHow to support people going through difficult situationsThe importance of learning who you areAnd much more!Whether your marriage is going through a tough season, you want to support someone who has gone through divorce, or your own marriage has ended, I hope today's episode will encourage you!Show Notes: https://jillsavage.org/brandi-wilson-169

I am so honored to get to share with you my conversation with the amazing Brandi Wilson. Brandi is a woman who loves Jesus fiercely, being a Mom to her 3 boys and cheering them on as they play football. She is passionate about walking with women as a coach working through their callings, and walking with them when they're in the midst of relational healing journeys. Recently, she released her first book Better Than Okay: Finding Hope and Healing When Your Marriage Ends which shares her journey of following God's call to plant a church in Nashville, TN with her then-pastor husband, watching it grow exponentially into a massive and impactful ministry with multiple sites, meanwhile at home experiencing heartbreak and betrayal. This ultimately led to a very painful divorce as well as a public parting with the faith community that had been the epicenter of their ministry and their lives. During her book as well as our conversation, Brandi shares how God met her as she wrestled through grief, mothered her boys, navigated what it means to be a divorced Christian woman, as well as a former pastor's wife, and just how she navigates life in co-parenting, and so much more. Brandi is honest, hilarious, and heartfelt in her sharing of her story while also giving such beautiful advice for how to hold space for the people we love as they grieve through their own experiences, and letting that happen at their own pace. She shares ways that might be helpful to those walking through seasons of trauma and loss, in others' lives, annnnd the not-helpful ways to maybe steer clear of as well. She's a self-proclaimed deep feeler, but also a deep healer and if that's not a word of hope that I think we all need no matter where we are, I don't know what is. Brandi is an amazing follow on Instagram, her book is such a breathtaking view into her heart, overflowing with honesty but constantly pointing to hope, and like she said, a reminder that there are NEW things that are still coming. I hope that hearing this episode helps anyone who needs it to feel seen and cared for wherever you are in your story, because we are all feeling, and we all carry the possibility for healing. The One who made you cares about all the pieces that feel broken, and His hope never runs out. You matter, friend. And your story matters. How do you begin to pick up the pieces when your life shatters in an instant? What do you do when your ministry and your family seem to crumble in a moment? How do you move forward after signing divorce papers? For former pastor's wife and author, Brandi Wilson, she could not have imagined the way her story would go. She had helped to build an incredibly successful church with her then-husband and had served faithfully alongside him as the congregation grew and thrived. Then, she found her whole world come crashing down when her husband decided to leave the church and their marriage. Not only did Brandi have to navigate the personal pain, but there was also the very public attention on her greatest sorrow. It was through her journey towards healing that Brandi learned how to endure the darkest seasons of life and find hope on the other side. She would go on to share her personal story of pain and healing in her new book, Better Than Okay: Finding Hope and Healing After Your Marriage Ends. In this vulnerable episode, Davey sits down with Brandi to talk about what to do when you see signs of unhealthy patterns in your marriage, how to shepherd your kids through the pain of divorce and the best ways we can show up for those who have endured the loss of a marriage in church and in life. You don't have to have experienced the loss of a marriage to be encouraged by this conversation on finding hope, healing and restoration after our most terrible days. Finding Hope and Healing After Your Marriage Ends: Special Guest Brandi Wilson Some seasons of life seem more difficult than one human should have to bear. For Brandi Wilson that season was 2016, the year her husband – a megachurch pastor – walked away from the church and their family. As her 20-year marriage dissolved, Brandi also lost her church community, her dreams for the future, and a huge part of her identity. She and her three boys began a new journey marked by deep grief and suffering – but also hope, freedom, boldness, and peace. Today Brandi thanks God for the redemptive healing in her life and reassures other newly single women that they are not alone. Divorce is not the end of the story. Join me in today's episode as I talk with Brandi about how women can find Hope and Healing after their marriage ends. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open. Purchase the Bible Study- She Hears: Learning to Listen to Jesus: https://shehears.org/resources In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be. Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast. Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life? Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do. The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His. The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Ep.15 - Brandi Wilson is an author and speaker who for the past 20 years has helped women and their families navigate the ups and downs of everyday life. She aims at helping women develop emotional and mental health so they live a life of freedom and confidence. Her own journey has taught her the power of that very skill. In an emotional conversation with Andy and Chuck, Brandi shares about waking up to a life she never saw coming. The life and family she'd spent 20 years building stopped on a dime. Her marriage was over. The church she spent years pouring into was no longer hers. Her community, friends and professional life disappeared in a day's time. Devastated but determined to create a life that finally felt like her own, Brandi faced her healing journey head-on. You will be inspired by her story and redemptive perspective.
Brandi Wilson was living her dream life, as a stay at home mom, and pastor’s wife when the rug got pulled out from under her feet and it all came crashing down. Brandi shares with me how she navigated the trauma of walking through her life imploding while under the scrutiny of the public eye. We cover grief, forgiveness, healing, and what it looks like to thrive today. There were so many Holy Spirit goosebump moments in this story as Brandi shares about how God met her in her pain, and continued to be the God who provides. Her circumstances changed, but God did not. Brandi is co-leader of Leading and Loving it, as well she has launched lovebrandiwilson.com where she is coaching women who are ready to gain mental clarity and increase their emotional health. Check it out for a free 30 minute consultation to see if her coaching program is right for you!

Brandi Wilson and her friend Lori Wilhite saw a need as they were both pastoring large churches. Women, specifically pastors wives needed an outlet and tools to continue to lead in a powerful way. This true story, often called "The War in Athens, Tennessee", describes the actions of the citizens of a small town, in this case mostly GI's recently returned from the battlefields of WWII, as they armed themselves to insure a fair election against a heavily armed and provenly corrupt town police force and political party which had gone as far as the murder of innocent civilians to insure their power. We at this podcast, by telling this story, want to make it clear that we do not condone violence in any way, shape, or form, as a means to achieve political change. You are left to decide who the heroes are in this story, and you have the obligation in this country to get involved in local, state, and government politics, and do your best to support candidates who are level-headed, moral, and seek a fair outcome for all the people. A letter from Eleanor Roosevelt to the town of Athens is included in our audio at the end of our story. Timeline: The Daily Post Athenian The Battle of Athens, Lone Seiber, American Heritage Magazine 1990 Interview with Bill White, Kurt Pheiler & Brandi Wilson, Veterans Oral History project, University of Tennessee (2000) Eleanor Roosevelt's letter to Athens (1946)

While no one goes into a marriage imagining it will ever end, we know that divorce is a reality for approximately half of Americans. And while I will always be pro-marriage and encourage those of you in difficult marriages to seek help and fight to save your marriage, I know that sometimes there are no other options than divorce. Today's guest, Brandi Wilson, knows the pain of divorce. In today's episode she shares her story of being married to a megachurch pastor, who in 2016 walked away from the church and his family. So, when Brandi's 20-year marriage dissolved, she also lost her church community, her dreams for the future, and a huge part of her identity. Yet, over 8 years later, Brandi has a message of HOPE and healing that I think will bless many listeners. If you or someone you love is navigating divorce, (especially while raising children) I hope you can tune in.
