On today's episode, we chat with Jerrad Lopes!  A pastor for more than a decade before launching the Dad Tired movement, Jerrad Lopes is also a sought-after speaker at men's ministry events around the country. His books include  Dad Tired and Loving It ;  The Dad Tired Guide to Basic Bible Study ; Stop Behaving ;   and Fully Engaged.  Lopes and his wife Leila live in South Carolina with their four children. The purpose of Dad Tired is to be a reminder that I don't have to live up to the unspoken pressure to be perfect for my family and I don't have to get buried in shame when I'm not perfect,” Lopes says. “Men need to feel the grace of being able to rest in someone better, and that's Jesus. He lifts the weight off my shoulders so I can lead by being the first one to repent; to confess sin; to humbly admit when I make mistakes; and to be the first one to lead my family to our Better Hero.”    My Daddy's Hero  is the latest in a range of Dad Tired offerings designed to help men embrace their responsibilities as spiritual leaders. For nearly a decade, the Dad Tired movement has cultivated a unique community of men around the world united under one mission—to fall in love with Jesus and help their families do the same.   dadtired.com @dad.tired christianmusicguys.com @christianmusicguys --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/message

Spiritual Minimalism: The Path to Joy and Clarity by Shedding the Excess

Have you ever felt the weight of the world, not just on your shoulders but also cluttering your living space? This week, we embark on a purifying quest toward spiritual minimalism, as I open up about my own transformative journey of shedding material excess. We'll journey through stories of a woman whose discovery that a grand home isn't a requisite for joy but rather the love and memories shared within its walls is a testament to the essence of happiness.Letting go of the past isn't just about discarding items; it's a profound emotional cleanse. I'll walk you through the catharsis of my wardrobe purge, the challenging detachment from yesteryear's fashion, and the refreshment that comes with a self-imposed clothing freeze. It's an intimate exploration of the liberation and clarity that arise when we align our external lives with our internal truths. You will hear examples that illuminate this path, highlighting the profound peace found in prioritizing close relationships over treasured possessions. As we wrap up this heartening discussion, I invite you to consider the boundless joy that can be unearthed through paring down life's complexities. The journey to a smaller home, less debt, and more meaningful experiences exemplifies the liberation that minimalist living offers. By sharing  experiences of downsizing, we'll reflect on how living with less can indeed mean living with more—more focus, more peace, and more alignment with our deepest values. Join us as we navigate the rewarding venture of spiritual minimalism, and take a step toward a more intentional and fulfilling existence. Hey HBs! This week we're here to recap the YA darling, THE CHRISTMAS CLASH by Suzanne Park! This book is so swoony, funny, moving, adorable, and a big inspire! Chloe and Peter are mired in a years-long family rivalry, but might need to work together to save their family's restaurants from being demolished, along with the mall they call home. Along the way we get romantic, illicit alley dinners, grassroots organization, speaking truth through art, basketball court justice, collaboration as a love language, victory over racists, and all the swoony romance goodness!Bonus Content: Mel's sick (but edited out most of the coughs!), Sabrina doesn't know what an Orange Julius is, Mel has a brilliant idea for a new VR venture, Sabrina demands HB fanny packs, the gals fight over who will read excerpts, and more!Lady LovesSabrina: Y'all have been sending her messages about rotisserie chickens and she is LOVING IT. Who knew our feral eating tangent in a random Patreon episode would induce so much connection and joy?! What a legacy.Melody: Break up your routine! Last week some electrical work on our house inspired Mel to get a haircut, work in the library, have a lunch out with her husband, and generally be a person in the world. It was invigorating!
