What shaped the cinematic landscape of 2024? Join us as we welcome back our esteemed guest, Brandon Cole, for another round of insightful movie reflections. Amidst the challenges posed by the writer's strike and lingering post-COVID effects, we navigate through a year filled with mixed emotions. Despite these hurdles, we set our sights on the promising horizon of 2025, with a special spotlight on the upcoming "Mickey 17." With our trusted friend Letterboxd, we compare our film-watching adventures—boasting 238 viewings on my side to Brandon's impressive 117—and revel in Zendaya's stellar performances in "Dune" and "Challengers," showcasing her dynamic range.Expect a lively discussion as we dissect the highs and lows of recent films. Glenn Powell's commendable roles in "Twisters" and "Hitman" catch our praise, while the pre-release sequel of "Wolves" piques our curiosity. From comedies like "The Book of Clarence" and "Let's Start a Cult" to the action-packed "Monkey Man" and "Bad Boys for Life," our conversation spans multiple genres. We're not shy about debating the strengths and weaknesses of films like "Roadhouse" and "Rebel Ridge." As our conversation unfolds, we can't help but express excitement for future projects like the continuation of the "Dune" series, even as we acknowledge some concerns about the source material.Looking ahead, the anticipation for upcoming releases fuels our discussion with a particular emphasis on "Avatar 3" and an unexpected "Happy Gilmore 2." We also celebrate the rising stars like Tom Holland and Glenn Powell, and explore the potential of animated sequels such as "Mario 2" and "Toy Story 5." We're thrilled about the possibilities these new projects bring, while a bit skeptical about some like the delayed "Mission Impossible." What happens when you mix a pop concert, a father-daughter duo, and a serial killer plot? In this thrilling bonus episode," I, Rob Miranda, am joined by Brandon Cole to dissect M. Night Shyamalan's latest film, "Trap." We kick things off by sharing our mutual love for Shyamalan's "Knock at the Cabin," despite its mixed reviews, and explore the signature twist that keeps us coming back for more. From discussing Josh Hartnett's compelling performance to our varied reactions to the movie's ending, we leave no stone unturned.Despite our initial excitement, "Trap" had its fair share of letdowns, particularly from the over-revealing trailers. We dive into the film's pacing, acting, and dialogue, especially critiquing the underwhelming performance by Shyamalan's daughter. Our conversation touches on the promising premise but also the implausible elements like the unrealistic police operations and out-of-place celebrity cameos, making us question the film's overall direction. What could have been an edge-of-your-seat thriller sometimes fell flat due to these missed opportunities.Brandon and I also break down the movie's most absurd scenes, from a convoluted hostage situation to character inconsistencies that left us scratching our heads. We even speculate on whether the film's ending could spark a new serial killer franchise, despite its flaws. Join us as we balance the entertaining aspects with the logical pitfalls and share some laughs over the film's more ridiculous moments. Making this grant presentation from last year public now (with some minor edits) in anticipation of our world premiere next month at Amazing Fantasy Fest! Details are here: https://www.amazingfantasyfest.com and new trailer is here: https://youtu.be/pRheZpXsBpQ For the video version of this podcast episode, go HERE: https://youtu.be/w3m6ZF-TOpM On 12.27.23 (my birthday) I did a livestream update on the film via Zoom (while I was still in the clutches of the 'Rona - 1/10 do not recommend). I showed a couple completed clips from the film, and even the first trailer! All this stuff will be exclusive and for your eyes only until probably Spring 2024 (at least), so you're definitely getting an advance look behind the curtain! EDITS: I trimmed off the beginning part of the stream where we were waiting for folks to join the Zoom, as well as the last 2/3 of the musical number so that it's still a surprise at the upcoming screenings! Left the first verse until the big guitars come in though. Also the clips aren't fully foley-ed or mixed, etc. and the score is all temp stuff. Basically...the movie is pretty much done now, this was when it was still a work in progress. INBETWEENING stars Brandon Cole, Tye Blue, Debbie Rochon, Chelsea McCurdy, Jill Brumer, Dillon DeWitt, Seán Patrick Judge, and Angelo Moore (the frontman/singer/saxophonist of Black Rock pioneers Fishbone). Eric Linson is a struggling multiracial filmmaker with a few credits to his name and absolutely nothing to show for it. Inbetweening follows his journey trying to remain afloat and healthy in the liminal space between projects...while the voices in his head steadily become louder. Some are helpful, but most aren't...especially the Zombie Guy. Fortunately, the lead singer of Eric's favorite band (Angelo Moore, from the legendary Fishbone, playing himself) is on Eric's side. Inbetweening melds live action, animation, puppets, and even a musical number to reveal Eric's increasingly fractured journey. This particular work is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.

Unpacking the complexities of ministry to men and the evolving narrative of masculinity in today's society they confront the barriers in our culture today. Obstacles that obscure our joy, like unresolved conflicts and internal insecurities. They hit the need for authenticity in cultivating true joy and the fruits of the spirit.  In this fascinating convo, they tackle the pressing issues facing church leaders - from the challenges of pastoral mentorship to the pitfalls of focusing too heavily on church attendance and finances as a metric. We have the latest Indictment and its complete Bollocks! Trump says he has irrefutable evidence on the Riggers! And the Media is all in a tizzy over it! Newly released video shows Denver police officer fatally shooting a man holding a marker, which police say the officer believed was a knife. The Fake News Media are stoking racial tensions once again, telling us we need to be outraged over this one. Let's take an actual look at it together. It turns out that creepy Joe was using pseudonyms (fake names) when making deals with Ukraine!. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) demanded Thursday that the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) hand over all documents and communications in which then-Vice President Joe Biden used pseudonyms such as “Robert Peters,” “Robin Ware,” and “JRB Ware.” ~~~~FOLLOW US ON RUMBLE~~~~

Listen in as we ask the fun and quirky type of questions that really get into the personalities of our guests. Today we get into the personality of Model, Author and Advocate for the lgbtq community, Brandon Cole Bailey. Brandon had a rough early childhood, being abused when he was younger, but he was found for his striking good looks as a model at age 15. He has gone on to be a successful world model in both fashion and print, and has written two books. His first book was a coffee table book showcasing Brandon's looks in fashion and modeling and the second he shares his experiences of his earlier abuse and how he overcame them to be the success he is today. I'm excited to get him to open up more with this 5 goofy questions into his personality. Please share with your friends, follow us on social media @leftofstr8 and if you like us, please give our episodes a 5 star rating so more people will find them in the Algorithm. Today my guest is a world traveler, fashion model, social media influencer and author. Brandon Cole Bailey became insta-famous for creating his persona of @itsreallyken. He became a model at 15 years old and has been sought after ever since. It wasn't all a picture perfect life, however, as Brandon revealed in his amazing book, “It's Not Really Ken,” he reveals that he was raped as a young man and been the victim of abuse by those in and out of the industry at different times throughout his career. Brandon has been in charge of his life and career for years now and at 27, has an excellent head on his shoulders and has really come into his own as both a fashion and modeling icon, as well as crafting his social media as a tried and true influencer. From his beginning as a singer and performer, he has not pursued that venue and still plans on keeping his eye in the social media field. Check out his Instagram @brandoncolebailey1 and you can find them all over social media as well and red carpet events. Please give this interview a thumbs up here on YouTube and a 5 star rating on your favorite podcast distributor, and share with your friends so we can keep sharing great LGBTQ Content with you all. He also picked this weeks throwback movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier Spider-Man: Across the Spioder-Verse. Directed by Jauquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin Thompson. Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero.Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) Directed by the Russo Brothers. Abraham was depressed, he feared that all was lost, that he wouldn't fulfill his destiny because he didn't yet have a son. He had a promise from God - but couldn't see how it would happen. Abraham would later be called the ‘Father of Faith', but at this moment he was the victim of fear. Then God told him, “Look up, see the stars, your descendants will be more numerous than all of them. Take heart. I will fulfill my promise to you!” (paraphrase) In this powerful podcast Brandon Cole walks us through the often difficult journey of believing and trusting and keeping faith. When we can't see a way out, when it all looks bleak - how do we fight for our destiny? How do we live a triumphant life in the face of great adversity? I was inspired to think more about how accessible Animal Crossing: New Horizons is -- and isn't -- after a blind friend downloaded Pocket Camp and found it virtually unplayable. ACNH is not Pocket Camp, and I couldn't begin to estimate how much better ACNH is for low-vision and blind gamers. I wanted to hear about playing ACNH from someone who is blind. Enter Brandon Cole, a multi-hyphenate content creator (Twitch streamer, YouTuber, and podcaster), and accessibility consultant to gaming companies. Brandon says ACNH falls into a category of "accidentally accessible," due to its rich library of audio cues that give low-vision and blind players a sense of directionality and proximity. Some audio cues I recognized as a sighted player, like the whoosh of an incoming balloon and the sound of footfall on different floors and pavements. And some I didn't recognize, such as different size fish making differently-pitched sounds when they bite the lure! Ultimately, those attributes make more of the game playable for Brandon than most mainstream titles. And yet... my take-away from this episode is how much better ACNH would be if Nintendo and all gaming companies considered the needs of all their players, not just those like me. Maybe it would help for Nintendo to hear from those of us with full vision and hearing and mobility, to encourage them to make their games fully and intentionally accessible to and playable by all. You can find Brandon's content on Twitch, YouTube, Anchor, and Twitter.
