Dr. Tanvi Gautam asks key questions: Are you working on your job or on your career? Are you playing at intersections or not? She says if you're not playing at intersections, you will be made redundant soon. The jobs that will get eliminated are single-domain jobs, which, don't need intersectionality. You can add value when you play at intersections. Dr. Gautam walks her talk. She earned her Ph.D. from the Business School at the University of Pittsburgh in the areas of Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and Information Systems. Dr. Gautam is the founder-director of the transformational global women and leadership program at Singapore Management University.  Her clients have included senior leaders from Merck, Microsoft, Medtronic, National Healthcare Group (Singapore), Mastercard, and KPMG, amongst others. She is also a corporate storytelling & narrative coach helping leaders use the power of narrative for digital transformation, employer branding, culture change, and sales. Her case studies on Human Resources transformation are used internationally by business schools. She was on the faculty at the University of Richmond in the Master of Human Resource Management (for executives) in the area of Technology and HR and taught in the Ph.D. program at Virginia Commonwealth University. The BritCham Indonesia Professional Women's Group held its first ever webinar entitled “Women and Realizations in the “New Normal” Beyond COVID-19” on Tuesday, 12 May 2020. The session was moderated by Sony Jethnani (CEO of Sony Jethnani Consulting) and featured three amazing women in business, namely Diana Mudadalam (Country Head of Corporate Affairs of Standard Chartered Bank), Indrijati Rahayoe (Chief HR Officer of Prudential Life Assurance), and Mutia Rini (Senior Marketing Manager of Shell Indonesia). With over 130 registrants, the session aims to connect and uplift women in business through inspiring and sharing with one another. Topics discussed in the session included how to manage routine and activities during the pandemic, how to cope with these trying times, as well as what their respective businesses have been doing during and in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Questions from the attendees were also addressed, which covered themes such as precautions that should be done should one require medical help, taking care of one's psychological health, and business marketing strategies during the pandemic. The discussion covers both professional and personal aspects and enables all participants, panelists and attendees alike, to learn from and support each other during this difficult situation. The session began with a presentation by Pak Wijayanto on the overview of the COVID-19 situation in Jakarta. This included a detailed explanation on the government initiatives in response to this problem. Then, Dimitris shared on how his company has responded to the Government guidance on supporting the community during these hard times. Questions from the attendees as well as other concerns such as sourcing of medical facilities, health and safety regulations in companies in regards to the COVID-19 crisis, as well as continuity of education during and after the pandemic. Gran Bretaña se unió a la Unión Europea (UE) en 1973 y siempre ha sido un estado miembro algo incómodo. Esta incomodidad se debe en parte a que en el sistema político de Gran Bretaña "el ganador se lo lleva todo" y no está acostumbrado a la construcción de amplias coaliciones - el ADN de la UE. Además, su relación especial con los Estados Unidos y sus antiguas colonias hicieron que Gran Bretaña se sintiera menos dependiente de la UE. Después de moldear el proceso de integración durante 46 años, Gran Bretaña dejará su asiento en la mesa y se convertirá en el primer país en salir de la UE. La decisión se tomó después de un referéndum en el 2016 con un 52% de la población votando para dejar la UE y un 48% prefiriendo quedarse. Muchos analistas ven la decisión como un suicidio económico con desafiantes consecuencias políticas y económicas prolongadas.   Esta edición del Speaker Series contó la participación de Tomás Dueñas, exministro de comercio exterior, exjefe de la misión de Costa Rica ante la UE y vicepresidente de LEAD University; Kenneth Waught, presidente de Britcham; Ronald Saborío, exjefe de la misión de Costa Rica ante la OMC, profesor de LEAD University y consultor; y, de manera virtual, nos acompañó también Alejandro Patiño, enviado especial de COMEX y agregado comercial de la misión de Costa Rica ante la UE.
