President and founder, Stacy Sager, and executive director, Terri Grunduski, of SagerStrong Foundation join the Atlanta Real Estate Forum podcast to share the foundation's mission and this year's upcoming events. They join hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick for the Around Atlanta segment. Sager founded SagerStrong Foundation after losing her husband Craig Sager to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in 2016 after he fought a public battle with the disease for three years. SagerStrong's goal is to share Craig Sager's way of living - having fun and living with style. The mission is to spread awareness for blood cancer patients and support blood cancer research. Sager said, “Craig's whole life in the broadcast arena was showing how time is simply how you live your life. Do it with fun; do it with style.” Previously, they have worked on projects with the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and have funded studies specifically for AML and blood cancer research. In their very first virtual event, Living Legends, the foundation raised $1.2 million. The hour-long event hosted by Ernie Johnson featured living legends Robin Roberts and Charles Barkley. The event featured a candid conversation between Johnson and Roberts, both two-time cancer survivors. SagerStrong has a passion for focusing on pediatric blood cancer research and holding sports-oriented events to give back to kids in the community. With partners such as Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Northside Hospital, the foundation sponsors fun, interactive events throughout the year. “Craig never said, ‘why me?' and he lived a full life,” said Sager. “But when you see a pediatric child go through this, it tears at your heart.” Craig Sager's passions of running and baseball inspired the foundation's Stadium Fun Run. The event, held in conjunction with Northside Hospital, follows the concourse of Truist park and gives participants the option of walking or running. The track finishes on the warning track, allowing baseball fans to take a million-dollar photo of them finishing the run on the home plate. Before and after the run, Tent Town is available to visit various vendors and special guests, the Atlanta Falcons! The Hometown Hero award, given annually to a pediatric cancer patient currently fighting or who has triumphed against blood cancer, is announced at the Stadium Fun Run. The award is sponsored by Grant Refrigeration and the winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship to a school of their choice. The event is scheduled for August 22. The fourth annual Living Out Loud golf tournament is October 11 at Hawks Ridge in Ball Ground, Georgia. The tournament, named for Craig Sager's mantra and memoir title, is an opportunity to have fun and spend time outdoors with friends and family while supporting SagerStrong Foundation and blood cancer research. “It takes a village to make a difference,” said Grunduski. “Being able to do it piece by piece and create a legacy is what we want to do. Craig's legacy was ‘Never Give Up, Never Give In and Fight This' because we can if we work together. And we will find a cure someday.” Monetary assistance is not the only way to support a foundation or spread awareness. Volunteering or donating blood to your local Red Cross is a great free way to show support. Giving back, whether it's volunteering, donating or participating makes a big difference. Applications are currently open for the Hometown Hero award. With Kevin Durant and James Harden getting back together in Brooklyn, it felt like a good time to revisit their biggest triumph in Oklahoma City with Russell Westbrook: making it to the 2012 NBA Finals. The Thunder went up 3-1 en route to a gentleman's sweep of Kobe Bryant's Lakers. This game also featured Derek Fisher, Kendrick Perkins, Steve Kerr, Craig Sager and Ramon Sessions. Sessions had the best performance of anybody in that group. Check out our substack for more: ballthoroughtheages.substack.com.

In an effort to avoid having to scrap the 2020 season, MLB has rolled out its plans to get the games back up and going again, and how they've proposed to do it might not be such a bad idea. Hawks 95 year old, just kidding, swingman Vince Carter said he won't sell his soul for no championship, but some folk feel it's 'just talk' cause he's on the downside of his career although I highly suspect those folk have no concept of what principle means... The Last Dance has thrilled us like no other documentary in quite some time; was Craig Sager -may he RIP- outta bounds for asking Krause that question? Were the Bulls opponents gluttons for punishment?? Can somebody please explain to me how 'stats' and "the will to win at all costs" are synonomous???

Nick says there is no room for error when it comes to guys like DaeSean Hamilton and Nick starts to wonder who Elway is going to cut before the 2020 NFL season begins. We hear audio from Stewart Scott’s best phrases and Nick tells a story of his time with the Jets when he met Scott. Former Miami Heat PG Tim Hardaway joins the show to talk about playing a physical game in Chicago and the importance of listening, learning and teaching others how to win & how to lead. Hardaway laughs about the UTEP two-step with the killer crossover and the idea of today’s Denver Nuggets being successful in his era. Jam-packed show with Brady Quinn and Matt Chatham taking on the hot-topic of top college football players skipping bowl games to prepare for the NFL Draft. The guys look at what today's bowl games really are -- and what they're not -- and how that affects any discussion of 'commitment to your team' and the like. Christan McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette have made their decisions for personal reasons related to the NFL, but did they show a glimpse of the power college football players have to someday return some of the financial windfall of bowl games to the young men playing in the games? Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott jumped in a Salvation Army pot and watched the NFL cave on their so-called rules integrity. New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo cheated in the real-est way Roger Goodell's tenure has seen, but took home the prize of a mild penalty....because, ya know, NFL. And Odell Beckham Jr got punished for honoring the recently deceased Craig Sager with a special pair of cleats. Last week the league markets how great they are for promoting causes on cleats. This week they return to taking money from players for good deeds. Yippie, NFL!
