The sermon examines the dangers of prioritizing outward appearances over genuine faith, using the example of the Pharisees and a historical advertising campaign to illustrate the preference for superficiality. It emphasizes the importance of inward transformation and a heart relationship with God, warning against the hypocrisy of maintaining a Christian facade while lacking true devotion. Ultimately, the message calls for authenticity, urging listeners to seek a cleansing of the heart through faith in Christ, recognizing that true discipleship is rooted in love and obedience rather than external conformity and urging parents to prioritize genuine faith over outward displays of religious behavior in their children. And that's exactly the point.Whether you're deep in diapers or navigating tween drama, this episode is for the moms who are doing things differently and want to feel seen.In This Episode, We Talk About:How Belle got started sharing on social mediaWhy she chose homeschooling and what it really looks likeHer practices as a scrunchy momHow routines and home life content resonates with other momsThe iced vs. hot coffee debateSocial media's influence on motherhood expectationsConnect with Belle:Follow Belle on Instagram
In this sermon, Cody dives into Jesus' words in Matthew 23, where he puts the Pharisees on blast for being all about appearances. Jesus uses the example of washing a cup to make his point clear. He's not saying the outside doesn't matter at all; he's just saying that if you start by cleaning the inside, the outside will get clean in the process. This idea flips the script on how we think about spirituality. Most people think they can be more Christlike by just trying really hard, but the key is not trying, but training. Instead of just trying to look good or do the right things for show, we're invited to connect with God in the secret place—especially in those quiet, personal moments of prayer. By doing that inner work with God, the rest will follow naturally. It's our time in the secret place that makes our faith truly come alive—unlike the pharisees who looked good on the outside, but in reality amounted to little more than dirty dishes and dead men's bones.

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 2:19-22; James 1:12Dinner was ready, and everyone was called to the table. After Dad prayed, Gianna was the first to notice that something was wrong. "These dishes are dirty!" she exclaimed. "Why are they on the table?"Mom gasped as she looked at her plate. "My fault. I told Grandma to use the plates from the dishwasher. I must have forgotten to turn it on last night.""Oh dear!" exclaimed Grandma, who was nearly blind. "They must have been rinsed off and I couldn't see well enough to know they were still dirty. I'm so sorry!" After a good laugh, Gianna and her sister Cosima jumped up to remove the dirty dishes and replace them with clean ones. After reading the passage for family devotions that evening, Dad closed his Bible thoughtfully. "The verses we just read say that we are vessels to be used by God. We all saw how unpleasant it would be to eat out of dirty vessels at dinner tonight, didn't we? We want clean dishes for our food.""That's for sure!" said Cosima."When God says we need to be clean vessels, do you suppose He means we should take a bath?" asked Dad."Well, I've heard a saying about how cleanliness is next to godliness," said Gianna."Is that in the Bible?" asked Cosima.Dad chuckled. "No, it's not. We should keep our bodies clean, of course, but I don't think that's what these verses mean.""I don't think so either," said Mom. "God says we need to have hearts made clean and pure by Jesus and live in a way that shows others His love. I think that's what He's referring to here."Dad nodded. "The apostle Paul told Timothy to flee from evil desires and pursue virtues like faith, love, and peace alongside other believers. We need to do the same thing. As Christians, we need to remind one another to turn from sin and focus on Jesus, who has forgiven our wrongs and washed us clean. As we trust Him to fill us with His peace and love, we become vessels He can use to show others who He is.""We needed clean dishes for dinner tonight," said Grandma. "And the world needs clean vessels to show people the love of Jesus." –Mary Rose PearsonHow About You?Are you a clean vessel that's ready to be used? The only way we can be clean and pure is to trust Jesus to forgive our sins. (To learn more, click the "Good News!" button in the right column of this page or go to www.keysforkids.org/goodnews.) In this episode from our archives, Apple News In Conversation host Shumita Basu talks with Kate Mangino, a gender expert and the author of the book Equal Partners: Improving Gender Equality at Home. Mangino points to research that shows women still take on the majority of household responsibilities in different-sex relationships — and she argues there’s a better way for partners to balance the mental and physical labor of running a home.
More relationship talk and tips in this show as I focus on the viral article, “My Wife Divorced Me Because I Left Dishes By The Sink” and how the day-to-day conflicts that exist in relationships (the conflicts one person usually thinks of as trivial) are destructive and harmful to relationships. As you will learn in this episode, when you are in a relationship, you have a choice: you can view doing things that enhance your partner's life as a pleasurable thing to do, as things that bring you closer together, or you can view them as a chore you have to do. Other relationship tips shared in this show include advice about arguing (did you know that most couples waste time arguing about things that will never change?) and why examining your personality attributes and behavioral dispositions that are harder to change can help improve the health of your relationship. At the end of the day, you don't have to understand why someone cares so much about a stupid glass—you just have to understand and respect that they do care about it. Ep. 79 As a society, we are often influenced to do things a certain way because of tradition, social media and even depictions on television. But have you ever stopped to think of who is actually behind those motivations and is there a better way for YOU to accomplish the same goals? For example, does your cleaning and cooking rituals make the food taste better or the housework easier? Or do you simply listen to music while cleaning up on a Saturday morning because it's what your mom always did? Who says you have to do it in any particular way? In this episode of the Healthy Illness podcast, you will learn a new tool we're calling the “Says Who?” tool. The “Says Who?” tool walks you through four questions to answer to evaluate if and how you're doing a thing is the best way for you. Who said I have to do it this way? Why am I doing it this way? How can I do this in a way that is best for me? Is this new way better or can I think of another way to do it? You can use these four questions to examine the best ways to live life. This is all a journey and what works for you may not work for someone else. However, healthy illness host Kelly Marie, leads you through examining these four questions to determine the best way for you to do what's best for you. 12 - 12 - 22 DIRTY DISHES AND TOP OR BOTTOM by Maine's Coast 93.1
Ep. 60 There was mold in the dishes, and I kept ripping off my clothes. That's when I knew something was wrong! Coach Kelly Marie is back and getting real about her mental health journey--the good, the bad, and the ugly -- in order to help others who may be going through similar experiences. Join us on this journey of assessing the warning signs of an oncoming depressive episode and exacerbated Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms. Kelly uses checklists to monitor her mood and behavior to be able to detect a depressive episode and things weren't looking too good. After a recent therapy appointment she had the motivation to finally wash her dirty dishes. They had been sitting in the sink so long when she opened them they were moldy! The next day she got dressed for work and her clothes did look right. She tried on something else and that outfit didn't quite look right either. She gave it another go and found something else to wear. She looked in the mirror and couldn't understand why her clothes were betraying her. Frustrated and on the verge of tears, she sat on the side of the bed and realized what was happening. Whenever she is unable to find clothes that “fit” or “look right” after multiple tries, she knows it's a sign she may be struggling with her mental health. Join her on this episode as she navigates her disorders and continues to drive in the front seat! Most people cite disagreements about chores, like washing the dishes, as the main reason their relationship ended. Steve can't believe it, and Slacker tries to defend the non-chore-doers.

Welcome to May 18, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate the crafty cleanup and puffed up cheese. Cooking and then sharing a meal with loved ones is one of the best things in life. The cleanup afterwards…not so much. So thank goodness for socialite Josephine Cochrane. Her household staff had broken too many pieces of her good china during cleaning, so she came up with an idea for washing the dishes mechanically. Cochrane enlisted the help of George Butters to build the first practical dishwasher. Her invention debuted at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois and has been a mainstay in kitchens ever since. It doesn't matter if you use liquid or powdered detergent–or even whether you put the utensil handles up or down, on National No Dirty Dishes Day put that dishwasher to use! The word soufflé is a French word meaning to puff or to breathe. And many Americans hold their breath while making a soufflé, because frankly they can be hard to master. This is probably because there are so many ways to fail when baking one. You might whip the egg whites too much or too little. And don't even think about opening the oven door too soon or making a loud noise while they bake. The first recipe for soufflé appeared in 1742, and this culinary masterpiece is still regarded as a worthy challenge. On National Cheese Soufflé Day, celebrate by breathing new life into an old recipe that's sure to win over a crowd. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Dishes. The pile up, we ignore them. Or, we rush through them to just ....well....rush through them. Who would have ever thought a Vietnamese Monk would offer such introspective insight with a sink full of dirty dishes. And to be honest, after learning, I can honestly say my life hasn't been the same since. I have a feeling yours won't be either. Listen in as we find a quieting mind amongst the pots and pans.
