John Rush and Jerzee Joe, an experienced pilot, explain why this flight represented a near worst-case scenario—nighttime conditions, instrument weather, mountain terrain, and a notoriously unforgiving airport. What turns a flight into a clear “no-go,” and how does pressure push even experienced pilots toward dangerous decisions? The conversation expands into aviation judgment, “get-there-itis,” and why impatience can be deadly in the air or on the road. John then pivots to Colorado realities, including high winds, power shutoffs, and why being prepared for 24 hours without electricity is simple common sense. The hour closes with a thoughtful debate on Broomfield's proposed RV parking ordinance. Is it government overreach—or a necessary step to protect neighborhoods and property values while balancing compassion? Where does responsibility meet regulation? Guest Timestamps • Jerzee Joe – 13:46 HOUR 2 Hour 2 delivers a fast-moving mix of culture, policy, and performance as Ann Schlafly of Eagle Forum (https://eagleforum.org) joins John to react to a surprising shift from the New York Times on marijuana legalization. Have the risks of high-THC marijuana been ignored for too long? Ann explains why today's cannabis is far more potent—and dangerous—than what existed decades ago. John then answers listener questions about marijuana crossing state lines and whether law enforcement cooperation is unconstitutional or simply the reality of states' rights. That theme of accountability continues with a pointed discussion on toll evasion, obscured license plates, and expired tags. The hour lightens with Richard Rush, covering Michael Jordan's Daytona 500 win, whether NASCAR needs a reboot, and standout moments from the Winter Olympics. Hour 2 wraps with car reviews of the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo and the 2026 Lexus NX 350h F Sport AWD. Was it just a balloon—or a warning sign? Ammon details how Mexican cartels are now using advanced drone warfare tactics learned from Ukraine, exposing major blind spots along the southern border and even near U.S. military installations. The hour continues with callers weighing in on aviation safety, unrest in Iran, and the human cost rarely seen in headlines. John then challenges climate-alarm narratives tied to Trump policy reversals, questioning multibillion-dollar cost projections for Colorado. The show closes with a hard look at the everyday consequences of progressive policy—from rising vehicle costs driven by federal mandates to Denver's controversial bike lanes. If you have studied what it means to have a Christian worldview or – for that matter – you have just studied the Bible, you know that it all begins with the creation story. “In the beginning, God created.” And if we are made in God's image, that means we are creative, too, and a part of our maturity in Christ is to more fully live into that mandate to be creators. And I don't just mean what some call “creative” professions, such as music, literature, and other arts. I mean woodworkers, homemakers, entrepreneurs, engineers, and plumbers. We are hearing more talk about creativity in recent years. Sometimes it takes the form of organizations committed to Christians and the arts. The Rabbit Room, co-founded by Andrew Peterson is an example. The International Arts Movement, founded by Makoto Fujimura is another. Andy Crouch's work with Praxis also comes to mind. But I have never heard anyone approach this topic in quite the way my guest today, Jim Edwards, has. His book “To Invent is Divine” examines human creativity as it relates to property rights – all within the framework of a Judeo-Christian principles of stewardship and ownership. He looks at America's patent system and how laws protecting intellectual property have encouraged creativity. He is also concerned, however, that those laws are eroding and the principles of intellectual property protection are weakening in an era of artificial intelligence. Jim Edwards has a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. He has had a long career in public policy and intellectual property consulting. He was a Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute, and in 2017 was honored with the Eagle Award from the Eagle Forum's Education and Legal Defense Fund. I had this conversation with Jim via zoom. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh. Until next time, may God bless you.
HOUR 1 Hour 1 – https://RushToReason.com pulls no punches as John Rush dives headfirst into culture, freedom, and accountability—starting with a Super Bowl weekend that exposed just how divided the country has become. Why did a halftime show spark outrage, canceled orders, and online pile-ons against small businesses? And what does that say about tolerance, choice, and who really believes in freedom? John is joined by Mike Jansen of Plumberoos (https://plumberoos.com/), who breaks from the corporate, commission-driven model to explain what “old-school service” actually looks like in today's world. Is it possible to run a successful business without upselling fear and urgency? What happens when trust—not pressure—is the foundation? The hour then pivots to deeper questions about government control versus personal responsibility, from proposed Colorado legislation impacting digital privacy to the economics of captive pricing at airports and major events. Is regulation protecting people—or punishing common sense? And why are consumers shocked by prices in places where choice is limited? This hour challenges listeners to rethink outrage culture, media narratives, and where freedom quietly slips away when no one's paying attention.

In To Invent Is Divine: Creativity and Ownership, Jim makes the case that creativity and ownership are inseparable—and that weakening intellectual property rights threatens the flourishing that invention enables. He draws connections between faith, history, and policy to explore why protecting intellectual property is about more than law or economics.Highlights from our conversation:* From Genesis to Jefferson: How creation implies ownership, and why even some Founders wrestled with protecting that principle in law.* Cycles of Patent Strength and Weakness: Why America's “golden age” of inventors gave way to Progressive Era restraints—and how history may be repeating itself.* Policy at the Crossroads: Jim breaks down three bipartisan bills—PARA, PREVAIL, and RESTORE—and what it will take to get them passed.* Leadership at the USPTO: Why Acting Director Coke Morgan Stewart has already made an impact, and Jim perspective on the incoming Director John Squires and the path that he should follow.* Bipartisanship Matters: From his work with Eagle Forum, Jim explains why protecting patents requires coalition-building across party lines. Why it mattersCreativity without ownership can lead to secrecy, stagnation, and scarcity. When the two are combined, society benefits from innovation and progress. Jim's perspective offers both philosophical and practical insight into the patent debates shaping America's innovation future.
Welcome to CURE America, hosted by Donald T. Eason, President of CURE—the Center for Urban Renewal and Education. Joining the discussion are Marty Dannenfelser, Vice President for Government Relations at CURE; Kris A. Ullman, President of Eagle Forum; and Jonathan Alexandre, Senior Counsel at Liberty Counsel Action. The panel unpacks the “One Big Beautiful Bill” signed by President Trump on July 4, 2025, analyzing its content and implications. The episode includes a speech by Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, a Louisiana Republican known for advocating conservative policies, faith, family, and American exceptionalism since 2023. The bill is presented as a landmark of the America First agenda and fulfillment of 2024 election promises by voters who rejected open borders, inflationary spending, and political division. Johnson highlights the bill's unifying effects across Black, Hispanic, Jewish, union, and suburban communities by promoting common-sense reforms. It permanently extends the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, averting 2026 tax hikes and offering families an average annual savings of $10,000. Major components include raising the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 (indexed to inflation), increasing the adoption credit to $5,000, exempting tips and overtime from taxation, and raising the estate tax exemption to $15–30 million. The bill encourages investment through full expensing of equipment and research, targeting a 1.2% boost in GDP. Welfare reforms implement work requirements (20–80 hours per month) for able-bodied adults on Medicaid or SNAP, while focusing assistance on vulnerable populations, excluding illegal immigrants, and cutting $1.5 trillion in government waste. Planned Parenthood is defunded for one year, with resources redirected to community health centers. Education policy includes permanent Opportunity Zones and a $1,700 scholarship credit to help students leave failing public schools. Border security receives $170.7 billion in funding: $51.6 billion for completing the wall, 116,000 detention beds, 13,000 officers and agents, and reimbursements to Texas. The bill emphasizes law enforcement, reducing illegal crossings, and restoring American global leadership through increased NATO spending, ceasefire initiatives, and trade deals. Though adding $3 trillion to the national deficit in the short term, the bill is framed as an investment in national strength, economic stability, and opportunity. Built on principles of liberty and self-governance, the bill seeks to deliver measurable results.

Welcome to CURE AMERICA - THIS WEEK, hosted by Donald T. Eason, Pastor and President of CURE (Center for Urban Renewal and Education). The episode delves into Eason's Israel trip, where President Isaac Herzog declared, “This is our land, blessed by God,” emphasizing Israel's divine claim and the need for accessibility to all. The panel—Kristen A. Ullman, JD (President of Eagle Forum), Jonathan Alexandre (Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Liberty Counsel), and Marty Dannenfelser (Vice President of Government Relations and Coalitions, CURE)—explores President Trump's trade negotiations with over 70 countries, efforts to lower interest rates, and a 2025 budget resolution funding national security, border security, and tax cuts. Discussions cover misinformation surrounding federal spending cuts, the benefits of reduced illegal immigration, and block grants to states for fiscal control, clarifying that “cuts” mean slowing spending growth. In a one-on-one interview, Dr. OJ Oleka, CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation, shares his family's journey from Nigerian immigrants arriving in 1980 to achieving the American Dream through faith, education, and hard work. The conversation highlights financial literacy, school choice, and tithing as tools to combat poverty, with Oleka noting the biblical call in Malachi to “test” God through tithing for abundant blessings. He directs viewers to sfof.com for resources on state financial officers' literacy initiatives. The episode concludes with a panel discussion on a Supreme Court case challenging Maryland's LGBTQ curriculum for elementary students, which denies parental opt-outs. Topics include the ideological nature of materials like Pride Puppy, the elitist dismissal of parental authority, the curriculum's impact on young children, and the diverse plaintiffs (Christian, Muslim, Ethiopian Orthodox) opposing it. The panel advocates for school choice and parental opt-out rights, urging viewers to contact Congress in this faith-driven call to action.
In a State House sit-down interview from Montgomery, Eagle Forum of Alabama Executive Director Becky Gerritson met with Greg Davis to discuss several different topics, including the passing of a cellphone adult content filter bill in its House Committee, an age-verification bill passing the Senate, and more.

On March 26 the Texas House Committee on State Affairs heard public testimony on HJR 98, a clean Article V application for proposing fiscal restraints, jurisdictional constraints, and term limits on the federal government and its officials. Texas was state #11 to pass COS Action's resolution, but that legislation had an expiration date. HJR 98 would ensure Texas remains at the forefront of the COS movement. After an opening statement by State Representative Cody Vasut, several other locals spoke, including Texas resident Mark Meckler and a representative from the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Opponents also showed up to testify, including reps from the Soros-connected Common Cause and Eagle Forum. After a closing statement from Rep. Vasut, Regional Director Jonathan Viaud reacts to the hearing with Andrew Lusch. They discuss the Texas team's strategy for the hearing and what happens next in the process.

This week on CURE America with Star Parker, we dive into the aftermath of the explosive debate between former Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Joined by Kristen A. Ullman, President of Eagle Forum, Carrie Sheffield, Senior Policy Analyst at Independent Women's Forum, Richard Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government, and Jonathan Alexandre, Senior Counsel at Liberty Counsel Action, we analyze the key moments and their impact on the nation. We start with a critical look at Biden's disastrous debate performance. He struggled to articulate and froze on stage multiple times, clearly not fit to serve. The panel discusses his history of falsehoods and the severe consequences of his presidency, including the surge in illegal immigration and the escalation of global conflicts. The war in Ukraine, which began after Biden's failed evacuation from Afghanistan, and the Hamas-Israel war highlight the stark contrast between his leadership and the peace and respect maintained during Trump's presidency. Had Trump been in office, the current war in Israel would not have occurred. In contrast, Donald Trump was clearly the strong, coherent leader America needs. His debate performance showcased his decisive nature and firm stance on crucial issues like immigration, national security, and the economy. Trump's policies are seen as vital for restoring America's strength and stability. We also discuss Biden's presidency, criticized for pushing the nation towards socialism and undermining its core values. Join us for a compelling analysis of the debate and what it means for America's future.

In this episode, co-host Bruce Lesley chats with Mike Hixenbaugh, a senior investigative reporter for NBC News about the ongoing attacks on public schools across the country. They discuss Hixenbaugh's new book, “They Came for the Schools: One Town's Fight Over Race and Identity, and the New War for America's Classrooms,” which documents the culture wars in Southlake and Grapevine, Texas. Hixenbaugh argues that challenges to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (CRT) stem from resistance to dealing with racism and repeat previous patterns in our society. Hixenbaugh compares the current attacks on public education by groups such as “Moms for Liberty” with prior movements, such as efforts to stop the teaching of evolution, opposition to desegregation of public schools, and groups like Phyllis Schlafly's “Eagle Forum,” which waged a campaign to purge classrooms of books and curriculums that they deemed anti-God, anti-American, and anti-family. In the podcast, Hixenbaugh also discusses why he centered the students as the protagonists in his book.Learn more about attacks on public education: Book: They Came for the Schools: One Town's Fight Over Race and Identity, and the New War for America's Classrooms, By Mike HixenbaughBook Review: Texas Schools at a Crossroads: Identity, Politics, and Public Education in Hixenbaugh's 'They Came for the Schools', By Bruce Lesley Newsletter: The Alliance for Student Liberty, By Lily Klam Article: When Conservative Parents Revolt, By Mike HixenbaughBlog: Texans Standing Up for Their Students and Public Schools, By Bruce LesleyPodcasts: Southlake and Grapevine, By Mike Hixenbaugh and Antonia HyltonTo join the conversation, follow First Focus on Children on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
