Western Wisconsin residents are split on whether they approve of President Donald Trump's shakeup of federal agencies. National parks saw a record number of visitors last year, including in Wisconsin. And, Dane County Judge Susan Crawford is running to fill an empty state Supreme Court seat. WPR's Anya van Wagtendonk profiled the liberal candidate.
No, David Waldman did not watch the speech, or the Oscars, or the Super Bowl, all right? (The TV's been stuck on the History Channel since David lost the remote.) Greg Dworkin is still on Skype, which is now shutting down, forcing an alternative. Greg will be choosing between Zoom or his dial-up fax machine in the basement, whichever has the most pleasant ringtone. Donald K. Trump presented his State of Denial “address”… It was a “Joint Address” to the Gops who love humiliation, and the Dems, who are learning to. Of course, some Democrats boycotted, but most did not. Some had signs, most did not. Al Green stood up, and was ejected. The rest chose not to join him. Expediency seems to be the hill they have chosen to die on, and there's certainly little disarray there. With Democrats keeping a low profile until 2026 2028 2030… it once again falls upon Trump to do all the heavy lifting. The plan has always been to keep the masses just at the precipice of an uprising, but this administration might be slightly overplaying their hand. (Yes, Steve Inskeep is on Blue Sky) Trump tariffs might sink the stock market, but don't worry, rich people will still get rich even when poor people get poor. Trump's tariffs might hurt Trump voters, but Trump doesn't need them to vote for him anymore. It will take a lot more than mere poverty to ever cool their ardor, though. (Yes, Will Jordan is on Blue Sky) Anyhow, each passing moment is another opportunity to declare victory and completely reverse course, faster than a bro can change his Zyn pouch. DOGE lists 443 federal properties up for sale, because why work in a building that you own, when you can rent it? NVM... the list went away. Trump is halting enforcement against corporate lawbreakers. Who says he doesn't have empathy for his brethren? However, the Trump Supreme Court says 5-4 that Trump has to follow contractual obligations. Is it too late for Donald to get a full refund on John Roberts?
Fat Tuesday! Grab your donuts and breakfast beer and March 4th with David Waldman this morning. This year for Mardi Gras, Cybertruck-shaped piñatas will be roaming the streets! Happy Tariff Day! Trees, a major source of income for both Canada and Joyce Kilmer, will be going up like eggs, as will just about everything, since just about everything comes from Canada, Mexico or China. The only thing going down will be stocks, and they're going way down. Donald K. Trump will be going viral tonight, up or down, he DNGAF. Can you imagine Dems treating this thing like the locals at a town hall? Well, imagine away, because they aren't going to do that. They will bring some people, release some statements mentioning those people, and… ...sorry, my fingers fell asleep typing that. Elon Musk is of course, a visionary-genius, as of course, reflected by his visionarily genius child-naming. Which one was at the White House recently… “5138008”? “88-14WYTB01? “D3L3TDG0VT”? Nope, it was “X Æ A-Xii”… accent on the ”Æ”. (You know how to pronounce Æ) That tyke is Elon's favorite human stole to wear on formal occasions and knew exactly how to trigger fellow toddler Donald K. Trump through the time-honored tradition of wiping boogers on his desk. DataRepublican may not be a visionary-genius name, and neither is Jennica Pounds, but if she doesn't like you are just as fired as if X Æ A-Xii fired you himself. Donald took the classified documents that he had previously stolen and returned them to… Mar-a-Lago. Because, as previously mentioned, Trump is a toddler. Professional psychopathologists may have a more complex definition of his behavior, but really, someone should just take him out of the adult room before he breaks something. Operation Smell the Whirlwind might have lost their prize quarry, Chuck Schumer. Meanwhile, the Trump Justice Department is figuring out how to spring Tina Peters out of a State Pen. Soon we'll see how loyal the Trump Supreme Court is. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has yet to return to the US, but it is certainly expected that he will be required to wear a different wardrobe for his upcoming apology visit. Does clothes make the man, or the man make the clothes?

Trump gets MAJOR Legal Support in Sentencing Fight (THIS IS HUGE!)Jack Smith NOT LOOKING GOOD in Battle to Release Report (JACK HAS NO POWER!)
Yet again, David Waldman and Greg Dworkin bring their usual camaraderie and repartee to today's KITM. That kind of stuff is hard to fake! Today is a good day to ask ourselves, WWJCD? Probably not a single thing that will ever happen now. For people who don't like being called Hitler, MAGAs sure are into annexation lately. Greenland, Canada, Mexico and Panama have been asking for it lately, showing off their ample mineral assets, letting just anyone into their trade routes. How can they not expect to get grabbed by the canal? What does Trump get out of empty threats? The satisfaction of watching people flinch. Wildfires like hot air, so Trump is focusing his degradation and intimidation on the victims instead. California will of course have to shut off the windmills, those things just blow the fire around. Remember your shock when the Trump Supreme Court handed down its decision on Presidential immunity? Well, I hope you're sitting down when you find out what Trump and Alito are cooking up this time. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, whose sole joy in life is stirring up shit, found some in the UK in the personage of lifelong POS Tommy Robinson. In election news, Virginia's Abigail Spanberger goes right down the middle to find a one-point lead over the local extremist, while Lebanon's Joseph Aoun becomes the fifth army commander to be elected as president in multi-Islamic Lebanon, taking over the job held previously for two years by an empty chair.

New York Judge Arthur Engoron issued Trump Gag Order to cover for his corrupt association with the Harris Campaign - Supreme Court will Decide - SarahWestall.com
Harry sits down with Judge J. Michael Luttig, a leading conservative jurist and fierce critic of Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and the Supreme Court. Judge Luttig explains why Trump is the very menace to the Constitution that the Framers feared, and excoriates Republicans in Congress for enabling his authoritarian ambitions. The two move on to 3 pro-Trump Supreme Court decisions that Luttig disparages, singling out for special reproach the Court's immunity decision, which Judge Luttig characterizes as an "abomination". It's a hard-hitting, essential discussion with one of Trump's most formidable conservative critics.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Just Buy Less Coffee, Answering the Deeper Questions of American Politics
Cathy and Troy discuss the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the politics of violence and conspiracy. Trump pledges unity, then defines unity as American loyalty to Trumpism, and his own absolute immunity. Then he chooses J.D. Vance to be his vice president, a MAGA extremist who opposes no-fault divorce, supports a national abortion ban, and who is even more pro-Russia than Trump.Judge Aileen Cannon throws out Trump's Mar-a-Lago stolen documents case in an obvious play to be the next Trump Supreme Court nomination. And Cathy deep dives the history of Presidential assassinations and attempts, from Andrew Jackson to Donald Trump. All for less than the price of a cup of coffee...For more exclusive content, consider subscribing here. SERIES 2 EPISODE 204: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: If Joe Biden had been pulling his punches in fighting back against the Trump/Supreme Court conspiracy to subvert democracy, he stopped doing so last night. To my mind he should take the Court's unprecedented decision to transform our form of government into a monarchy by the fabrication of something called 'presidential immunity' by showing how it works, announcing he was adding six seats to the Court by Executive Order, and daring SCOTUS to stop him. But as a start, Biden took off the gloves, insisting the American people should join him and Justice Sotomayor in dissenting from the Court immunity decision. Biden attacked Trump by name, said that because the Supreme Court had done “a terrible disservice to this nation” by preventing a Trump trial on January 6th before the election, that therefore the people “must decide” on Trump, and acknowledged “there are virtually no limits to what a president can do." It was a clear declaration of war on the Supreme Court; it was a clear re-positioning of Trump from an unprincipled political opponent to a menace to our form of government. “Any president will be free to ignore the law.”He closed with “may god help preserve our democracy.” The Supreme Court has thrown out 248 years of American history – more really – at the start of the week in which we CELEBRATE that 248thbirthday. As Sotomayor also noted, Alexander Hamilton was specific about the necessity to have a FORMER president be subject to possible prosecution for any crimes he committed, IN OFFICE, because THAT would be one of the key differences between the new United States and the Kingdom of Great Britain, from which we had to stage a revolution to free ourselves. THEIR king was “sacred and inviolable.” OUR president would be subject to “personal punishment and disgrace.” As to the nomination uncertainty: the polls continue to be inconclusive and the tightrope just gets longer. I remain agnostic on the outcome (I want whatever wins). But I want to suggest that the logical extension of calling for Biden to drop off the ticket because you don't think he's sharp enough to win re-election and/or serve another term, is to say he's not sharp enough to be president NOW - and should resign. If you're going to be cynical enough to force him out of office later, why not now, when you could still offer new president Kamala Harris as the incumbent on Election Day? B-Block (31:40) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Ken Dilanian of NBC, Matthew Belloni of Puck, and Ben Smith of Semafor all miss the point of the Biden candidacy story. Ralph Nader blames Hillary for the Chief Justice appointed the president who is Nader's fault. Worst Persons Hall of Famer Bill O'Reilly makes up a story about Biden quitting (but it must be true! It's from the Bill-O'Reilly-Dot-Com-News-Headquarters!) C-Block (42:10) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Another 4th of July falling in the middle of another week, just like it did the year I started my professional career in network radio simply because... the 4th of July was falling in the middle of another week and they needed somebody unemployed, cheap, and immediately.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We debrief the new MU Law Poll which has Biden and Trump locked in a statistical dead heat in the battle for Wisconsin's all important Presidential Electors. What does the poll's finding that there are very few undecided voters 10 months ahead of the election mean for the outcome? What are the implications of the historically strong public interest in 3rd Party candidates? Also, in the more immediate term, early voting in 2024 Spring Primary has started and Citizen Action just announced are pre-primary endorsements. Meanwhile the never ending drama continues on the national scene. As Trump implodes, the GOP opposes its own draconian board security bill, the House tries but fails to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas, while Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher takes heat for voting against the bogus articles of impeachment. We discuss the Supreme Court oral arguments on 14th Amendment bar on Trump's candidacy which has removed him from the ballot in CO and ME. Will the Trump Supreme Court renig on claimed commitment to strict construction of the Constitution to save Trump? Dr. Michael Rosen joins us to talk about the predatory for-profit Arizona College of Nursing's effort to locate in Milwaukee and an organized effort to stop it. Listeners are encouraged to attend a public hearing in Milwaukee next Monday at 1pm.

Today on Truth in Politics and Culture I will talk about the debate in Columbia over a bill that would protect minors from transgender surgery and other trans procedures, Congress is mulling a bipartisan, election year tax cut to change the subject from how bad Congress is, what now for Halley and DeSantis as progressives melt down over Trump's Iowa win, and the Supreme Court wiffs again on what to do about bathrooms.
The Chuck & Julie Show with Chuck Bonniwell and Julie Hayden With Guests, J. Christian Adams, Dave Williams and Ron Hanks It's a great grassroots lineup this 2024 election season. SERIES 2 EPISODE 101: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: For the second time in as many days and the fourth time in one week, Trump has gotten the message out to the Justices of the Supreme Court - and especially the three he appointed - that they'd better rule in favor of Trump in the 14th Amendment and Presidential Immunity cases because he put them there. Attorney Alina Habba did it again, again on Fox. Wednesday it was in the afternoon; last night it was in prime time. The message is loud and clear, and God knows with the utter corruption of the conservatives on THIS court you could never convict anybody of doing anything, but this is either an illegal threat AGAINST Justice Brett Kavanaugh and others, or it is the back half of an illegal quid pro quo. Habba said she "had faith" in "people like Kavanaugh, who the president fought for, who the president went through hell to get into place. He'll step up." A week ago today Maggie Haberman went on CNN and said Trump feared SCOTUS might rule against him because it was trying to look balanced. On Tuesday, his first simpleton attorney Christina Bobb said that any ruling - even one declaring that Trump was guilty of insurrection - would be irrelevant if the people wanted Trump as their ruler. Wednesday, Habba insisted that "Republicans" (she meant Supreme Court Justices) "unfortunately sometimes shy away from being pro-Trump because they feel that even if the law's on our side they might be swayed much like the Democratic side would be, right? So they're trying so hard to look neutral that sometimes they make the wrong call." The political pressure is astonishing, even for Trump. And in the light of his stochastic terrorism against Justices Engoron and Chutkan, it is intolerable, and it portends true threats against any justice Trump feels hasn't been "loyal" to him. THERE MIGHT be good news out of New Hampshire: one poll shows Trump leading Nikki Haley by just four points with two weeks until the primary. There was also a good opening advertising salvo by the Biden campaign against the threat Trump is manifesting. And the same Alina Habba went on another streaming show and insisted that given the choice between being smart or pretty she'd choose pretty because "I can fake being smart." Well, no, sorry. You clearly can't. B-Block (32:20) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Like every other rich fascist before him, Elon Musk wants to destroy the National Labor Relations Board. Politico has a good joke at his expense. RFK Jr's Super Pac apparently made it up about Dionne Warwick AND Martin Sheen. And the Associated Press article that actually headlines Bothsidesism on tomorrow's 3rd Anniversary of Trump's January 6th Coup: “One Attack, Two Interpretations: Biden And Trump Both Make The January 6 Riot A Political Rallying Cry.” C-Block (40:30) FRIDAYS WITH THURBER: In 1913 just as in 2024, people are likeliest to believe the dumbest, the most outrageous, the least believable thing. James Thurber commemorates "The Day The Dam Burst" in Columbus, Ohio, the most noteworthy feature of which was, the DAM DID NOT BURST.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

David Waldman isn't about to let us go into this weekend uninformed, even if today is in the middle of that weekend. When holiday shopping don't… Actually, never, ever trust a Republican to save you money. Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Talk Like a Pirate Day, are all holidays to be concerned about having an AR-15 aimed at you. The recent Louisville bank mass shooter shot people to show how easy it was for someone like him to shoot people. Some guy killed a guy for blocking his stroller, and recorded it on his camera. Remember that Beavercreek, Ohio Walmart where a Black guy was killed by police for carrying a toy gun in the toy department? Now, a mass shooter thought that same Walmart would be the best place to shoot some Black people. You don't need to shoot masses of people to enrage the Irish, it turns out that they draw the line at just hurting children. Imagine a central income distribution institution...It's easy if you try, but also easy to imagine some pitfalls. The Pennsylvania school board ousted after it banned books, Pride flags and transgender athletes tried to slip a quick $700,000 into the pocket of a Superintendent friend of theirs. Local voters, however, are not his friends. If Marjorie Traitor Greene and Mike Lee keep up their stupid Jan 6 hooha, people might start to lose respect for them. Precedent is seen as only a temporary hurdle by the Trump Supreme Court. Reality is seen as only a temporary hurdle by Donald Trump. Ace KITM Correspondent Rosalyn MacGregor reveals another reason not to vote in MAGA candidates, as wingnuts do tend to appoint even wingnuttier functionaries.
Are you back for more? David Waldman and Greg Dworkin have got some more if that's what you came looking for. TFFG wants everyone to remember that he is a moron and a liar, because that's the only way he'll get out of his mess. Unfortunately for Trump, he was caught on tape, knowingly telling the truth. Worse yet, Donald was forthright and self-aware in front of a witness, Susie Wiles, who MAGA will soon tie to Trump haters Ron DeSantis, Ronald Reagan, and Giants placekicker Pat Summerall. Donald Trump hasn't given up on being truly, epically stupid yet, a strategy that has served him his entire lifetime. All Joe Biden has is quiet competence and a snoring problem, and you know which one of those most interests the Media. People who “disapprove” of Biden will probably eventually vote for him. Never Trumpers won't have any other choice. The greatest minds behind the Trump Supreme Court could not rationalize independent state legislature theory... yet. They're still working on it, and don't worry they'll come up with something. Now affirmative action, they've contemplated that most of their lives, and knew just what to do when they were given the chance. The overthrow of Russia is over. All hail Vladimir Putin! That's optional, of course, but Russian leaders who choose not to shall face some tough questions, and some hard pavement several stories below them. It might be time to kick Russia while it's down.
David Waldman welcomes back Greg Dworkin for only a half-hour of collaborative overlap this morning, to give him a chance to recuperate. Donald Trump was indicted and arraigned earlier this week, and the dumb hasn't yet begun to die down. Trump's trial can't come soon enough… seriously, it should have happened years ago. Jack Smith could sidestep Aileen Cannon by charging Trump elsewhere, but why not charge him with something new? Critical evidence against Trump came from his own lawyers, which is about the only way they could get someone to listen to them. Why should Donald or any of his supporters care what anyone says at this point? One way or the other, it's all downhill from here. The odds of government shutdown continue to grow as Republicans devise new ways to take and hold hostages. Dick Durbin says it would be tempting to not act like a sap, if only he wasn't one. The Pyrex/Instant Pot bankruptcy story continues to explode, raining molten shards of nostalgia and speculation all over social media. Pyrex did sellout, but PYREX is still the GOAT, if you can find it. Red Delicious apples were never about you, but all about the marketing. The First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, surprised everyone by resigning, then really shocked everyone with her recent arrest. Boris Johnson didn't surprise anyone with his resignation, finally. Oklahoma Republicans are lending a hand to the Trump Supreme Court to destroy the separation of church and state. The “LIV” in LIV Golf actually stands for “54”, which does not refer to number of individual segments of Jamal Khashoggi left around Istanbul, but rather the reduced playtime of their tournaments. A guy who dreamt of intruders in his home naturally became victim to a .357 Magnum nocturnal discharge. George Santos' lawyer might beat him to jail.
Former Senator Al Franken stops by to discuss what he got wrong about former President Trump, the recent corruption of the Supreme Court, and whether or not our nation's issues can be fixed in the Senate.
