It's getting cold, and dark, which means its the perfect time to talk about Ragnarok - the coldest and darkest story of all! In this episode, we journey deep into the heart of Norse mythology to unravel the legendary tale of Ragnarok – the Twilight of the Gods. What lead to Ragnarok, and is it avoidable? From imprisonment of Loki's children to the death of the god Baldr, tensions escalate, setting the stage for the ultimate clash between gods, giants, and just about every epic baddie in Norse Mythology. We'll look at Fimbulwinter, the crowing of roosters, and the earth-shaking re-emergence of Fenrir, the Midgard Serpent, and Hel. We'll discuss the epic showdown, explore the fate of key characters, and find hope (?) in the aftermath. It's our most dramatic disaster ever this week, as we take a look back in time to explain what happens when an 10-kilometer-wide asteroid hits a planet with life on it. In short: the dinosaurs perish, an ice age follows global forest fires, and the air quality hit an all-time low for ten years straight. On the other hand, after the impact, mammals had the perfect conditions to become bigger and brainier, sharks survived quite nicely, and plant and insect life diversified and flourished. On this episode we're talking asteriods, glitter, impact craters, deuling geologists, and why fur was THE fashion accessory for Fimbulwinter. The Last Refuge - A D&D Podcast

The party, having accomplished what they set out to on the Northern Island, have bought themselves some time to rest, prepare, plan, and gather allies ahead of their confrontation with the Beast. What will our adventurers' plans be? Who will they go see first in preparation for The End. And is Sniv going to have to sail the sub back South on his own? The party fight for their lives against the white dragon, who has just gone into a nose dive in an attempt to save Semyaza from the falling arcanium. Once again, can't say much more in the episode notes without spoilers, so... Will the dragon catch Semyaza? If it does, will she be able to bring her power to bear quickly enough? Everything will die in Ragnarök, including the gods. Thus, Odin prepares for the last battle of Ragnarök by taking dead soldiers to his hall and preparing them for this. The first sign of Ragnarök is the Fimbulwinter which is a three year uninterrupted winter that kills all of humanity. After this winter, flames will appear all over the world, and the wolves that chase the sun and the moon, Skoll and Hate, finally manage to catch them. They devour the sun and the moon, and the stars disappear, making the world completely dark. Ragnarok Ragnarok betyr verdens undergang.

SUMMARY The party enters the bustling port city of Norsal, having gained a new member, Tempest, from the crew of the Whispering Winds. Their first order of business is to secure some sort of travel to get from Port Norsal down to Starrengeld in the South West. After purchasing a cart and a couple of horses, which they have been told they can sell back for some of their money later, though Rem thinks they’ve been swindled, they make a quick stop at a general store. After loading up their new cart with supplies for the road, the head out of the city to begin their three day journey. Day one goes by uneventful. They pass through many of the vineyards responsible for Port Norsal’s famous wines before making camp for the night. However, things take a turn for the worse on day two. Rem and Kenina spot a commotion a few miles down the road, which has broken up by the time the party gets to it. Rem investigates and determines that gnolls were responsible. As he checks on the perimeter, gnolls armed with longbows fire upon him and the rest of the party from the trees. We end the session as 6 more gnolls come rushing out from the forest in pursuit of the party as their cart speeds away.
