We welcome back to The Mulligan Stew and the Podcast Edmonton's Nuela Charles. The last visit was just before the 2018 Junos. She had one of her 3 Juno nominations in her sights. Her self-titled 4th album was released Friday. It's the best yet. Always impressed with her work ethic, passion for the writing and creating of her music, and the honesty with which she takes us through the process. We've included three tracks in the Podcast Heavy Worthy Don't get It Check out the rest of the Nuela Charles album. It's engaging and engaging!! It's about Nuela, her journey, and the power of being yourself. Nuela was born in Kenya and raised in Switzerland, Canada, and the Bahamas, before settling down full-time in Edmonton, Alberta. I asked Nuela if the influences of those countries could be found in her music but she surprised me by saying “I'm a rock/pop artist. I grew up on rock. That's what I like' She has also shared the stage as direct support for some of Canada's musical icons including Sam Roberts Band, Jann Arden, and Stars. Additionally, she has been nominated for multiple awards including three JUNO Awards for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. This year the SOCAN Foundation announced Nuela as a winner of the second annual Her Music Award. Nuela has amassed over 4 million career streams to date, and placements on hit shows such as Jane the Virgin, Tiny Pretty Things, House of Lies, The Order and Finding Carter.

Today I’m delighted to have actress Kathryn Prescott on the podcast! Kathryn is an actor and photographer, originally from London. Ms. Prescott got her first big break when she was 17 playing Emily, a young lesbian with a homophobic twin sister, in the cult UK TV show “Skins”. A few years later she moved to the US to play the lead role in the MTV teen drama “Finding Carter” and has since appeared in various other projects including ‘To The Bone’, ‘Reign’ and ’24: Legacy’. Ms. Prescott is currently shooting her second season of AMC’s ‘The Son’ and has a movie coming out on Netflix in April called “Dude”. After joining up with The Big Issue Foundation and Centrepoint in the UK for a photography exhibition to raise money for both organizations, she wanted to do something similar in the US, so she got in touch with Homeless Health Care Los Angeles but decided to do something a little different. Her film explores the cyclical nature of pain and isolation when it comes to addiction while highlighting the devastating effect that the opioid epidemic is having on America’s youth. Mrs. Prescott has been surrounded by addiction throughout her life and people’s reactions to it have always fascinated her. In addition to listening to this fascinating interview with Ms. Prescott, please watch and share her important video and see other links below: Links The official website for “Dear You” “Dear You” on social media: Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook A great podcast explaining how one sentence helped set off the opioid epidemic Comedian Stuart McMillen explaining the “Rat Park” experiments Johann Hari’s TED talk on why everything you think you know about addiction is wrong Kathryn Prescott on twitter Homeless Health Care Los Angeles Podcast chat with Maia Szalavitz on rethinking addiction https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=PY9DcIMGxMs
The Cool Soror Podcast welcomes Tasia Grant. A Cool Soror of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., this Washington D.C. native has a passion for the art of acting. Her love for acting started at age 7 with the Children's Urban-Arts Ensemble (CUE) community theatre group in Washington, DC and continued through college, but she eventually began a corporate career. About 12 years ago, she returned to her passion. With theatre being her foundation and first love, she returned to the stage in The Renaissance Project Theatre productions of A Raisin in the Sun, in the role of “Ruth Younger” and in Steel Magnolias, as “M’Lynn”, and as "Annie Sullivan" in The Miracle Worker, to name a few. She eventually transitioned into film and television earning roles in films like Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” and “Single Moms Club”, a supporting role in TVOne’s "Skinned", directed by LisaRaye McCoy and and a leading role in TVOne original film “Definitely Divorcing, alongside Columbus Short, Robin Givens, Golden Brooks, and other amazing actors. Some of her TV work includes House of Cards, The Vampire Diaries, TheQuad, Mann & Wife, Finding Carter, and she is currently in her third season of Saints and Sinners, in the recurring role of Samantha Pearson. Look for her in the upcoming films " The Bargain" and "Shades of Attraction " as well the web series "Thick Skin" as abusive mother, "Naomi". She taught acting classes to young children at Terri Vaughn’s “The Green Room” and to beginner/intermediate adults at The Alchemy of Acting, as well as previously conducting workshops entitled “Getting Your Kids in the Biz”, helping parents and children navigate through the process of getting started in the acting business. She attributes her success in this journey to God's favor, an incomparable support system, hard work, training, focus and to enjoying and appreciating every ounce of this experience as an actor... the good, the bad and the ugly. But acting has always given her an “Intrinsic Reward.” Social Media:FB – Tasia Grant, IG – tasiagrantactress, Twitter – tasiagrantWebsite: www.imdb.me/tasiagrant

Jamie Floyd is a West Palm Beach, Florida native who grew up in a musical family where she had the opportunity to perform as an opening act for Rascal Flatts, James Taylor, and others. By the age of 11 she’d signed her first production and publishing deals, eventually relocating to Nashville where she found success writing for other artists. She’s best known as the co-writer of “the Blade,” which became the title track to Ashley Monroe’s 2015 album and was named one of the top songs of the year by NPR Music. Co-produced by Vince Gill and featuring a guest appearance by Miranda Lambert, the song became the album’s centerpiece and helped earn the project a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album of the Year. Others who’ve recorded Floyd’s songs include former Brooks & Dunn front man Ronnie Dunn, who featured the song “Once” on his debut solo album, which went to the #1 spot on the Billboard country chart in 2011. Jamie’s song “Trouble Get Me Off Your Mind” was performed by R&B powerhouse Brian McKnight in Dolly Parton’s 2013 TV film A Country Christmas Story, while Hayden Panettiere’s character, Juliette Barnes, performed Jamie’s “Mississippi Flood” on the hit ABC television series Nashville. Floyd’s songs have also been heard on MTV’s Finding Carter, Lifetime’s The Client List, the CW Network’s Beauty & the Beast, and the Lifetime original movie, Manson’s Lost Girls. The SESAC honoree has enjoyed her cross-genre success by writing songs by day and waiting tables by night. The hard-working dual-career up-and-comer is a model for what it takes to carve out a space in Nashville’s increasingly competitive musical landscape. With her recent Sunshine & Rainbows EP attracting new fans and increased industry attention, Jamie Floyd is one to watch!
