I had the opportunity to chat again with vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ashton Nyte, who founded the Darkwave/ Gothic Rock act The Awakening. Now US-based, The Awakening was formed in Johannesburg South Africa in the 90s. Nyte more recently released his 12th studio album also called "The Awakening. " With a catalogue of over 300 released original songs, Nyte and The Awakening have enjoyed airplay and chart success on radio stations worldwide, with songs featured in popular television shows like 'Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin' and 'The Purge'. Nyte has contributed to several scores, working with composer Ethan Gold for the movie 'Don't Let Go' (premiering at the Sundance Film Festival) and for the movie 'Pale Horse', directed by the late Pearry Teo.To WATCH THE INTERVIEW : https://www.youtube.com/@DJNocturnaPlease like, subscribe and share https://www.theawakening.com

The rumors are true - Netflix canceled Fate: The Winx Saga :(. Also Taylor Swift is going on tour, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is getting a rebrand, and social media is slowly driving us all insane.
A critique of the horror genre that often rings true is its tendency to rely on the “male gaze”, where the film both presumes and caters to the heterosexual male viewer. “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”, which recently concluded a 10-episode season on HBO Max, is doing something different. Cinematographer Anka Malatynska talks with me about reinterpreting horror tropes from a female perspective and the collaboration required to deliver on this idea.
American Cinematographer Magazine named Anka Malatynska as one of the “10 Rising Stars of Cinematography 2019."Variety named her "Top 10 Cinematographers to Watch" in 2020.She certainly deserves the accolades.Anka has had an incredible career as a cinematographer, with work including Monsterland, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, and Steve Buscemi's upcoming film, The Listener, starring Tessa Thompson.Truly a director's cinematographer, Anka listens to her collaborators with a deep heart and intent, resulting in powerful friendships and collaborations.Anka has continually sought out and created work that is bold and diverse. She is as adept at leading a hundred-person crew through the monsoon-soaked jungles of South East Asia as she is at cultivating an intimate atmosphere on a three-person documentary shoot. Through her work, she has hobnobbed with dignitaries and diplomats and hung out with East L.A. gangsters. She speaks three languages fluently and is comfortably conversational in half a dozen more, which only enhances Anka's ability to make absolutely anyone and everyone feel comfortable in front of the lens. The daughter of a Himalayan mountain climber and Polish immigrant scientist mother, Anka is deeply passionate about living an inspired life. Outside of filmmaking, Anka herself is a mother, a wife, a surfer, a yogi, a traveler, and a purposefully inspiring human being. Usually living in New York and Los Angeles, when she is not on set she spends the majority of the time traveling with her husband and son. For six months during the COVID pandemic in 2020, they resided in Nicaragua.Connect with the Film School'd Podcast:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/filmschooldInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/filmschooldpod/Twitter: https://twitter.com/FilmSchooldPodYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdgrswiL4AGviAOcbzfYCAwContinue the Conversation in the Official Film School'd Discussion Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/filmschoold

In this episode I speak with Production Designer Neil Patel. Neil is currently shooting Showtime's “Shaka: King of the Zulu Nation” in South Africa and promoting the new series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” on HBO Max. We also talk about the influence of his background in theater design on dozens of Broadway, West End plays, and Operas that have lead him into designing for TV and film.

This week Jodi talks with actress Elena Goode who stars in the highly anticipated HBO Max original series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” from acclaimed executive producer / writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Riverdale” and “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), now streaming on HBO Max. “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” begins twenty years ago, when a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago...as well as their own. Born and raised in Harlem, NYC, bilingual speaker Goode's first big break came at just 9 years old when she was discovered by a talent agent who ultimately booked her for a pizza commercial. Growing up with parents who were both philanthropic lawyers respectively, she was taught to save her money and that education was the most important thing she could give herself. She tested into the prestigious LaGuardia Arts High School and credits this experience as changing her life as it was a very socially aware and culturally diverse school. She attended FIT for college but missed acting and auditioning so decided to get back into it which is when she booked the soap opera “As The World Turns” – something that greatly impressed her Puerto Rican mother. She went on to film 192 episodes in 2 ½ years and was part of the first gay storyline on Soap television, playing a friend's “beard” on the show (who naturally in Soap fashion turns out to also be her relative). She moved to Los Angeles and in 2015 booked the role of Nicole Young, Dr. Dre's (Corey Hawkins) wife in the Academy Award-nominated film STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. She additionally starred as ‘Ma' in the HBO Latino original film ELLIOT LOVES about Latino culture and a young boy coming out. In her free time, Goode is passionate about advocating for Ocean and Sea Life protection.
Entertainment World's School of Hollywood Interview with Afro-Latina Wilhelmina model and actress Elena Goode who is starring in the highly anticipated HBO Max original series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” from acclaimed executive producer / writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Riverdale” and “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) I am Steve Owens your Host and we talk to Elena about her new HBO Series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Straight Out of Compton and her time on the Soaps. Great advice for actors wanting to break into Soap Operas.
Bailee Madison has been racking up titles in a variety of genres ever since scoring her first screen credit in 2006's Lonely Hearts, but she's currently in the process of making an especially big mark in horror. Given her passion for genre storytelling and the fact that she's had the opportunity to learn from some of the best of the best over the years, that corner of the industry is mighty lucky to have her, and you can see as much in her latest release, the Pretty Little Liars spin-off series, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.Madison stars alongside Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, and Maia Reficco as one of five teenagers being targeted by a masked assailant they call “A.” In addition to dealing with creepy texts and dodging A encounters, Madison's character, Imogen Adams, is also mourning the loss of her mother while in the tail end of her own pregnancy. But fortunately, Imogen has the support of Tabby (Kinney), Faran (Zaria), Mouse (Pyles), and Noa (Reficco) in trying to unravel the mystery of A's identity and also in powering through some of her greatest personal challenges. With all 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin now available to stream on HBO Max, Madison joined me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to, yes, discuss all the finale episode's biggest reveals, but also to revisit her journey in the industry thus far which very clearly paves the way to more horror. Actor Carson Rowland joined host Robert Peterpaul to discuss kindness on the set of his shows Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Sweet Magnolias, how his family and wife lift him up, the link between acting and neuroscience and more. Carson Rowland has been in love with acting since he can remember, first stepping into the spotlight with the recurring role of Cole Reyes in Nickelodeon's I Am Frankie. Over the years, Carson has become known for his work on shows like the ABC sitcom American Housewife, but it wasn't until he booked the role of Tyler Townshend on Netflix's charming series Sweet Magnolias that his star really shone. It grew even brighter this summer with the release of HBO Max's hit Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, where Carson plays high schooler Chip. In addition to acting, Carson is also a singer-songwriter, but he mainly does that for himself. He also casually has a BS in Neuroscience from Florida Atlantic University, something he earned while simultaneously being a working actor. Got kindness tips or stories? Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party is all about giving you the heads-up on newer talent on the cusp of becoming very big and busy, and I've got a whole lot of faith that'll be the case for Pretty Little Lairs: Original Sin star Chandler Kinney. The HBO Max reimagining takes place within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe, but it focuses on five new characters living in a different town. The events of Original Sin unfold in Millwood, which isn't all that far from Rosewood. That's where we meet Kinney's character, Tabby, a film-obsessed high school student who takes great pride in working at the local theater, The Orpheum. However, there's also a growing darkness in Tabby's world. Not only is she struggling with past trauma, but she's also being targeted by an unknown assailant dubbed "A" who's determined to make her and her friends pay for a sin committed by their mothers two decades ago. With all 10 episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin now available to stream on HBO Max, Kinney took the time to join us for a Collider Ladies Night Pre-Party conversation so we could learn more about her journey in the industry thus far, her experience working on Pretty Little Liars and, yes, the biggest reveals of the final episodes. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin star Chandler Kinney joins host Robert Peterpaul to discuss kindness in the arts, her new HBO Max show and much more! Get ready for a party! Chandler Kinney began performing at the age of 3. Starting out as a dancer, her love for the arts grew as she got older. As an actor, Chandler has been seen in FOX's “Lethal Weapon,” FX's “American Horror Story: Asylum,” the CW's “90210,” Disney's “Girl Meets World” and more.
