We had a great story about two friends who are attempting to set the Guinness World Record for longest journey by toy car. And they're doing it to raise money to end all kill shelters. Amidst all the college basketball going on this weekend, the Shohei Ohtani story is also a massive deal right now in the sports world, and it looks like Brian's assumption that there's more to this story is coming true! Did you know that today is "Talk Like William Shatner Day"???? It's his 93rd b-day, and he's not only a prolific actor, but also a musician. In one of our three-ways this morning, Shaw mentioned a vehicle recall because of faulty airbags, and Brian went a bit wacky talking about how funny the airbag prank videos are! We talked racing with Doc this morning, and during today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the impact of the Oakland win yesterday the brackets at ESPN.com, a heroic British pilot who recently passed away, a pastor who was arrested for trying to have someone killed, a man in Texas who almost died due to an ingrown hair, an inept robbery attempt at a Dollar Tree store, a woman who lost her hand because of a hair-dryer, a woman attending a funeral in London by Zoom that treated the people on the other end of the call to an x-rated shower, and a reported witch in Iowa that started a porch fire. Justin began formulating Fiber Light out of waste wood fiber from a local wood mil. During the first year Justin focused on confirmation from the market to find out if Fiber Light worked as good as Justin thought it did. After selling 36,000 tins of Fiber light in the first year Justin began expanding the product line to include ferro rods, kits, pouches, and more. The second year he set out on a national trade show tour to get in front of the outdoor market and meet his customers. This helped grow the brand and build partnerships with other big outdoor companies. https://fiberlightfs.com/

Ok now that we have our bug out bag squared away we need to start talking about items to put inside of it. Let’s start with two of the most basic yet most important items. The items we need covering water filtration and fire building. Sounds pretty easy right? Fortunately these items aren’t too bad in price however it is important to know what products work best and what inexpensive additional items will be huge force multipliers for achieving the task. Some of the information may be rather shocking and some of the products may not be as such of a good deal as they seem. Water filters really fit that category. Do you need an expensive filter system like a Katadyn, or is a Lifestraw plenty? Well discuss what items are best and why here on Dirt Cheap Preppers.

Modern Combat & Survival | Tactical Firearms | Urban Survival | Close Quarters Combat Training
Any schmoe can build a fire with some logs, a gallon of gasoline and a match... And any boy scout can build a fire with fewer tools... and a clear sky (or even a light sprinkle)... But what about when Mother Nature says, "F - YOU!" and doing everything she can to destroy your chances of turning that spark into a roaring bonfire with pouring rain and frigid temperatures? Now THAT takes some serious survival skills, wouldn't you say? Fortunately, for this week's podcast episode, I challenged survival author and expert, Kevin Estella, to give us his best fire-starting hacks for "impossible" scenarios. Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode: The biggest mistakes most people make when trying to start a fire that will DESTROY your chances of ever getting a flame! Your personal "survival fire kit": The exact gear to pack for a no-fail fire-starting tool pack! Teepee style? Log cabin style? What's the best "stick structure" for starting a roaring fire FAST? Beating impossible odds: Getting a flame when Mother Nature's actively trying to ruin your day with a pouring rainstorm! How to build a "covert fire" to avoid attracting unwanted guests to your location. To truly survive in the woods, the ability to build a fire isn't an "option" - it's a necessary skill that could mean life-or-death. The tips, tricks, and tactics covered in this week's interview will almost instantly turn you into a fire-starting badass in even the WORST conditions!
