Join us as we chat with Alejo and Andrea about Living Hakuna. In 2016, just four months after getting married and buying their regular (brick and mortar) house, Alejo and Andrea decided to leave their full-time 9 – 5 jobs. The ‘traditional' life simply wasn't what they expected it would be. Back then they thought they were doing everything correctly; they went to college, got good jobs with health and retirement benefits, bought a house and had cars… It almost seemed like the perfect life. The only problem was that they didn't have what they desired the most, TIME. Time to be together. Time to be with their dogs. Time to do what they love. Time to simply be happy. Since then they have chased the wind. Living on their catamaran and kiteboarding at some of the worlds most desirable locations. Its ability to inspire him, to stun him, to sadden him, to educate him, to show him love in all its heartbreaking forms, to conjure any number of emotions up within him, is what makes him tick. Ben feels it always will. He cannot imagine a life without the foreign, an unknown that incites change, ripples him with scars and colorful imprints. Curiosity has always won over a need for the familiar, the secure. Indeed, security has always seemed to Ben to be the wrong reason for anything. Kit Up seeks to contribute to the goal of achieving a more sustainable economy by removing economic barriers which currently exclude people from accessing outdoor activities which require specialist equipment. At present, participation in sporting activities, particularly those which are outdoor and adventure-based, requires expensive equipment. The industry generally encourages 'upgrading' on a regular basis; promoting a culture which generates significant waste, in terms of the materials required for technical products and clothing. The excessive supply and consumption of this equipment is concerning because of the significant impact that manufacturing materials and processes have on the climate, and the social exclusion resulting from the high costs of procuring the equipment necessary to take part in the activities. The current cost of inclusion, for many sports, is inconsistent with the means of the majority. We intend to close this socially exclusive and environmentally damaging gap by facilitating a shift in culture towards a more sharing and considerate economy. Kanga Coolers was founded by 5 close friends with completely different backgrounds united by one simple thing: we love cold beer. When we were assigned a class project to create an idea that solved a problem we faced, we knew exactly what it would revolve around. We found ourselves drinking warm beer at a tailgate in Clemson, South Carolina. For the love of all that is holy, why are we drinking warm beer!?! We all had $300 coolers that could keep beer cold for a few weeks but didn't use them to keep our beer cold for a few hours? This made no sense. Well, we didn't use our coolers because we didn't want to have to deal with ice and hauling the huge thing all the way to our tailgate a mile from where we parked. So, instead, we stopped by the convenience store, grabbed a cold case, and just carried it with us to drink it as it got warm. We found our problem... Warm... Beer... Sucks! With this in mind, We noticed something very profound at the tailgate next to ours. It might seem normal to most, but what it represented was life changing. We saw someone take a cold beer out of a cooler and put it into a can insulator. What we really saw was someone take a cold beer out of what made it cold (the cooler) and put it into something to keep it cold for the entire time they'll actually enjoy it (the Insulating Sleeve). THAT'S when it hit us: WHY THE HECK ISN'T THERE A CAN INSULATOR FOR A WHOLE CASE! We took it out of a fridge (what made it cold), but we needed something to put it in to keep it cold for the entire time we were actually going to enjoy it without the ice or hassle! Right then and there, the vision for the Kanga Kase Mate was born. There was no going back. We realized what we had to do: end the tyranny of Big Cooler and set millions free from having to choose between cold OR convenience. Check out Kanga Coolers here https://kangacoolers.com/

If you want to be inspired, take the time to listen to this! Matthew Stutzman was born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 10, 1982 without arms! Matt loved the outdoors and soon taught himself how to shoot a gun which meant attending a hunters safety course; soon after that he would sit on the porch and I would watch him shoot a hole in a penny at 30 and 50 yards. About this time he also became interested in archery so he could go bow hunting with his father. Leon took Matt up to the local hunting store (Fin and Feather) when Matt was 16 and agreed to pay for half of the bow. Matt went to work doing odd jobs to earn money to purchase the bow, once he purchased the bow he started practicing and taught himself how to shoot the bow accurately. He's a dad, who as well as being an Olympic medalist, fixes bottles changes diapers, cooks, fixes cars, and does yard work. He likes hunting, fishing, and camping, boating and spending time with his family. The usual – just doing it all with unusual abilities in unique ways and a desire to experience life. As society speeds (careens) towards complexity Keith and Jen Syers have come to believe that a simple life is a better fit for them. They utilize an ‘antiquated' skill set and attempt to have as little reliance on outside systems as possible. Keith and Jen try to keep things simple.. which for them feels so much harder sometimes. Punching a clock, going to a grocery store, turning up or down the thermostat seems simple enough but we feel like there is something lost when you become removed from tasks that can keep you alive.. gardening for your produce, hunting for your meat, chopping wood for your heat, ripping logs for a dwelling and all the countless other things that go into a handmade existence. Keith also starred in the History Channel show Alone in Season 7! Check out Keith & Jen here: https://www.ramshacklehomesteadsurvival.com/

Rush Sturges grew up in Forks of Salmon, California, where his parents own and operate Otter Bar Lodge, a destination kayak school on the Salmon River. His upbringing at Otter Bar Lodge exposed him to kayaking and film making at a young age. As a young teen, Rush filmed and edited videos of Otter Bar's week-long kayaking retreats, which he would then sell to that week's clients. Rush is credited with having invented several freestyle moves including the pistol flip and the hail mary. The hail mary involves doing a complete front flip over a waterfall, and is one of the most cutting edge moves in freeboating. Follow Rush here: https://www.facebook.com/TheAdrenalineRush
