The Nats lost 3-1 at the Rays on Friday night, but the main news of the day came in the afternoon. Mark (From Tropicana Field) & Al begin with the reports that James Wood will be promoted from AAA and will join the Nationals on Monday when they host the Mets. Wood played Friday night for Rochester and the hosts wonder if he should still be in the lineup in the minors this weekend. (09:00) Jesse Winker made a fantastic diving catch in the 1st inning but afterwards left the game. He is expected to be OK, but this came after most people have eyed Eddie Rosario as the player that most likely will have his roster spot taken by Wood. Rosario has an OPS of .555 so far this season and his batting average is .183. (17:00) Jacob Young had a busy Friday night as he doubled twice, stole a base, scored the lone run, committed an error, and made a base running blunder. It seems the plan is for Young to stay in CF with Wood in LF next week. (24:00) CJ Abrams yet again was picked off and it leads to wonder how much criticism should be levied at Gerardo Parra, first base coach, for this continued problem. (28:30) Mitchell Parker had an so-so start as he allowed six hits and two runs in five innings of work. Jordan Weems pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th and has not given up a run in five of his past six appearances. (35:00) We close with a look at 3B Brady House who is currently in AA-Harrisburg. The MLB Winter Meetings are underway as Mark (Live from Nashville) & Al check in on the latest regarding the Nationals off-season. Mike Rizzo and Davey Martinez each addressed the media and there are indications that this could be another slow Hot Stove for Washington. How does Jeimer Candelario fit into all of that? (19:00) The Stephen Strasburg situation was addressed and we still have not yet reached a resolution. (26:00) An explanation as to why Joey Meneses' did not have the power we all expected throughout 2023. Will he get time at 1B next season? (30:00) Davey did not give a ringing endorsement for Luis Garcia as the definitive 2B for 2024. Garcia was surprisingly sent down to AAA for a portion late in the season. (37:30) New look coaching staff that includes Gerardo Parra and former veteran infielder Miguel Cairo at Bench Coach. Parra will take over as the franchise's new 1st Base Coach. (41:30) Will any of the highly touted prospects make the Opening Day roster? Hear about the new Future's Game in D.C. in late March after the conclusion of Spring Training. The Texas Rangers won their 1st World Series title to officially bring on the MLB's off-season. Al & Mark begin with a quick recap of the successful Podcast Party last month at Walter's. Thanks to all who came! (04:00) The Nationals announced that weeknight evening games will begin 20 minutes earlier at 6:45pm. This seems to be a way to encourage more fans to be able to stay for the final few innings, but what about those who don't get off work until around 6:30pm? (11:30) Roll call and analysis of the new members of the Nats Front Office. This includes the new senior director of amateur scouting, Brad Ciolek, who joins the organization after a successful tenure in Baltimore. (25:00) There also was some movement among the coaching staff that includes Gerardo Parra replacing Eric Young Jr. as 1st Base Coach. Darnell Coles was retained as Hitting Coach and Jim Hickey will also return as Pitching Coach. How much of these changes are simply about money? (39:20) Now that teams can no longer keep players on the IL, Stephen Strasburg is back on franchise's 40 man roster. Is this headed to a resolution this Winter? (45:00) Texas won it all just two years after losing over 100 games. Arizona meanwhile made the World Series with only 84 victories as the final Wild Card team. (50:00) A tribute to Frank Howard, one of the greatest hitters in the history of Washington Baseball. Howard passed away at age 87 and had many prolific offensive season while playing for the Senators in the late 60's/ early 70's. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

After a field trip to see the Fredericksburg Nationals, Patti and the Pottymouth recorded this snack-sized, but jam-packed, episode over pizza and beer and perilously close to corn hole. The good news is we did NOT get kicked out of the ballpark (officially or recreationally) for sharing any of our opinions which appeared to differ greatly from the majority of the fans in the park, if t-shirt sentiments are to be believed, nor for the expressly stated “no profanity” rule. The other good news is Stephen Strasburg looked great in his re-hab assignment,we got to meet Patti's adopted minor leaguer, the FredNats won, and we found Adventure Brewing and Rosie's Pizza Truck. This week was a tipping point in “sticking to sports” as calls for sensible gun laws permeated media interviews, video boards, and social media. Gabe Kapler takes a stand by not standing but making sure we know why, Natasha Cloud calls for backup and Sean Doolittle responds, and the Yankees and Rays social media teams jump into the fray.Pottymouth witnessed Juan Soto's 200th double and shared quality time with the Nat's Woo Guy. In other boyfriend news, Ildemara Vargas goes to Rochester, Bobby Witt becomes a doubles machine, George Springer makes a difference, and this piece about Adley Rutschman is a must-read of the week. Gerardo Parra retires – but not completely. Pottymouth profiles Verónica Hernández, of the Modesto Nuts, the first Latina GM in an affiliated team, and holds her example out as a possible career path for Patti. In our Police Blotter, MLB calls out ballparks at all levels for not providing the required adequate facilities for women traveling with teams, and gives them a deadline to show how they will make it right. Josh Donaldson is suspended for calling Tim Anderson “Jackie,” and Tommy Pham is out for three games for slapping Joc Pederson over old fantasy league beef.We say “They shuffle on the bottom,” “That's my Woo situation,” and “Really good with pickles!”Get boosted, fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith,  and find us on Twitter @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. Barely over a week into the 2017 campaign, baseball season has come to a close due to the Rockies' first back-to-back losses and Twitter's subsequent reaction. But the good news is they've qualified for a playoff spot, so we'll preview that.PDP 99 is arguably our most unscripted, meandering, stream-of-consciousness episode, and to be honest, while writing this description, I don't even remember half of what we discussed. The Rockies are 5-3 and took down Clayton Kershaw over the weekend. That's good. I know we talked about that a little bit. They're also not getting much contribution offensively from anyone not named Mark Reynolds or Gerardo Parra. That's less good. We talked about that, too. What happens when David Dahl and Ian Desmond get healthy again? Is life just a futile pursuit of the carrot of happiness dangling forever out of our reach? (Yes.)Also, we somehow go off into the weeds for about 15 minutes dissecting the Troy Tulowitzki trade (again!) because of last week's deal that sent once-promising flamethrowing flamingo Miguel Castro to the Orioles. There are some #AskPDP questions in here. Tyler describes how he saw Denny Neagle at the home opener. Anthony talks about Greek Easter. It's really one hell of an episode for the Turk Wendell Edition of the PDP. Enjoy.
