Welcome to the With Priscilla podcast!  Today, I'm beyond excited to bring you Alanna Rizzo, a seven-time Emmy-winning sports journalist with over two decades in baseball. You've seen her shining on Foul Territory, Dodgers Territory, Blue Jays Central, and TBS, plus delivering bold takes on MLB Network's High Heat. From covering the Dodgers' World Series runs on SportsNet LA to her early days with the Colorado Rockies, Alanna's passion and insight have redefined sports storytelling. And off the field, she's changing lives through Guidry's Guardian Foundation, inspired by her beloved Border Collie mix, Guidry, adopted in 2009 from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Guidry opened Alanna's eyes to the urgent need for dog rescue and adoption. That love sparked her mission to save countless dogs from neglect and overcrowded shelters.   Please follow and watch Alanna, in addition to supporting her wonderful foundation:    LINKS: https://officialalannarizzo.com/  https://www.instagram.com/alannarizzo/?hl=en https://x.com/alannarizzo https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100044421699852 https://guidrysguardian.org/about/ https://www.instagram.com/guidrysguardian/ https://x.com/GuidrysGuardian https://www.facebook.com/GuidrysGuardian/

Grabbed my old Zoom H1 recorder (the one that lets me hear myself talk – crucial!) and went for a walk to escape the apartment and the endless to-do list. Turns out, I had a lot on my mind. This is a pretty unfiltered ramble about feeling overwhelmed by choices, the good and bad of the internet (especially the news… ugh), the weirdness of modern parenting, and why I'm nostalgic for the early days of online life. Also, a brief rant about gimbals I haven't used and why I keep listening to old podcasts. It's chaotic, but it's real.Okay, here are timestamps for key topics and transitions in the transcript, along with a list of references (both explicit and implicit).Timestamps:* 0:00:00 - 0:00:28: Introduction and explanation of using the Zoom H1 recorder.* 0:00:28 - Or maybe not "greetings." More like… a continuation. A brain-spill, captured on my trusty old Zoom H1 recorder. I love this thing because, unlike my "fancy" microphone, it lets me hear myself as I talk. Sounds weird, I know, but for this kind of rambling self-reflection, it's essential. It's like having a real-time sanity check. And sanity was definitely in short supply this morning. I was trapped in my apartment, surrounded by the ghosts of unfinished projects. My website, that game I'm (supposedly) making, the ever-growing list of "shoulds"... it was all closing in. The internet, which is supposed to be this amazing tool, felt more like a digital prison, full of distractions and temptations masquerading as opportunities. So, I did the only logical thing: I ran away. Okay, I went for a walk. A rainy, cold Saturday morning walk, to be precise. And I brought the recorder, because sometimes the best way to untangle your thoughts is to just… let them out.The Siren Song of the Scroll (and Why It's Drowning Me)One of the biggest things I've been wrestling with is the sheer volume of information we're bombarded with daily. I'm an information junkie, I admit it. Podcasts are practically my lifeblood (I have, like, four different pairs of headphones for different listening situations – don't judge). But lately, it feels like I'm drowning in other people's thoughts, leaving no room for my own.And the news… oh, the news. It's this addictive, horrifying spectacle. The Elon Musk saga, the political dumpster fires, the global conflicts… I feel compelled to stay informed, but it's also incredibly draining. It's like watching a slow-motion train wreck, and you can't look away, even though you know it's making you miserable.I keep finding myself longing for the "old internet" – the days before algorithms and monetization ruled everything. Remember when people blogged just to share their thoughts, not to build a personal brand? When online shopping felt like a risky adventure? There was a certain innocence to it, a sense of genuine connection that feels increasingly rare.Parenting in the Age of the Perfectly Curated FeedThis all ties into my feelings about parenting, too. I'm a co-parent, which means I get these intense weeks with my daughter, followed by weeks of (relative) freedom. It's a rollercoaster, to say the least. And when I'm in "dad mode," there's just no room for anything else. My fancy new gimbal? Still in its box.And I'm fiercely protective of my daughter's privacy. I see so many parents using their kids for online clout, and it just feels… wrong. Kids are adorable, fascinating creatures, but that fascination is primarily for their parents. Sharing every moment of their lives online, before they're even old enough to understand the implications, feels exploitative.Finding the Signal in the NoiseSo, where does this leave me? Still searching, I guess. Trying to find a balance between staying informed and staying sane. Trying to create more and consume less. Trying to be present, both for my daughter and for myself. This recording, this messy, rambling brain dump, is part of that process. It's a way of reclaiming my own thoughts, of finding the signal in the noise. It's not polished, it's not perfect, but it's real. And in a world of curated realities, maybe that's the most valuable thing of all. I still don't really know how do you filter all that negative information. But here it is. This is a public episode. This week we saw the grid face the test that is the Marina Bay Street Circuit. High Heat. Tight corners. A race that demands your complete concentration. And while the general podcasting and journalist community would have you think Lando Norris lacked this at moments, we discuss how he still managed to put in one of the most dominant performances we've seen this year. Pumping in great lap times at his engineer's request. While Lando did exactly what he had to do, we wished others had held up their end of things (we're looking at you Oscar Piastri). We also wished Mercedes avoided overthinking itself by sticking Lewis Hamilton on soft tires to start the race. But most of all, we hope that this wasn't Daniel Ricciardo's last race in F1 (recorded prior to yesterday's announcement).Take a listen as we break down the race and the surrounding storylines of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.

Earlier in the day they got into a scuffle with each other while doing promotion at the Empire State Building. Sounds like a publicity stunt by the boxers. Maybe they weren't even scheduled to throw out the first pitch. Maybe the whole thing was a ‘work' as they say. Maybe the Mets knew nothing about this. Garcia also dated a porn star this week according to a caller. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Pirates again. There was a controversial balk in the game. The Yankees lost to the Blue Jays, their third straight. The White Sox stink, and former manager Ozzie Guillen said pitchers want to go up against them now. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talked about Cooper Kupp's diet. Ocho said players should keep eating McDonald's instead of eating like rabbits. In the final segment of the hour, Mike Francesa went on High Heat with Chris Russo and pretty much took credit for the popularity of John Sterling's calls. Eddie said they should take some credit for that.

Hour 1 Happy Birthday to Boomer who turns 63 today. We also know who his NY Rangers will be playing in the first round of the playoffs and it's the Washington Capitals. The Knicks will play the winner of tonight's Sixers/Heat game. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the Mets winning again, their fourth straight series. They will go for the sweep of the Pirates this afternoon. We also talked about how the new program director will deal with Boomer in the morning after a Rangers loss. The Yankees lost their third straight. Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow said everyone knew Ohtani had nothing to do with the gambling. The woman who accused Trevor Bauer of sexual assault was indicted for fraud. The Warriors were bounced by the Kings last night and their season is over. In the final segment of the hour, John Bogan, who works here, got a birthday video for Boomer from Africa. A woman calls in who shares a birthday with Boomer. Sounds like she's ‘trying to get the pipe'.  Hour 2 Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia, two boxers, were scheduled to throw out the first pitch last night at Citi Field. According to them at least. In the final segment of the hour, Mike Francesa went on High Heat with Chris Russo and pretty much took credit for the popularity of John Sterling's calls. Eddie said they should take some credit for that.  Hour 3 Somebody sent Boomer a putter for his birthday. CBS Sports Network sent bagels to celebrate. The Mets head out to the west coast after today's game against the Pirates. They will play the Dodgers and Giants. Jerry returns for an update and there's a new article out about Bill Belichick and the Falcons. Supposedly the Arthur Blank call to Robert Kraft is what stopped them from hiring him. The article also said the only teams that would hire Belichick in the future would be the Giants, Eagles or Cowboys. Ford dropped off cupcakes for Boomer and he tried to get all of us to eat one. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the Netflix documentary series, ‘Homicide: New York'.  Hour 4 The Rangers will play the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. There's a possibility that Game 7 will happen on the night of Boomer & Gio Live. A caller is concerned because the Rangers tend to score their goals on power plays. Boomer said the Rangers are healthy going in and the goalie got his groove back. Jerry returns for an update but first Gio said Aaron Rodgers was on another podcast and implied that the government made up HIV/AIDS to scare people. Jerry starts with the Mets beating the Pirates and have won 9-of-12. Giancarlo Stanton was barely running home and should have been thrown out by a mile but the catcher dropped it. It was Bark at the Park night in Baltimore. Charles Barkley and Shaq mocked an NBA guy for playing in the Filipino league and acting like he played in the NBA. The Moment of The Day involves a caller named Dina who seems to be hitting on the birthday boy, Boomer. In the final segment of the show, more details emerged on the betting scandal involving NBA player Jontay Porter.

In this episode of the Insiders Guide to Energy Podcast, we dive deep with Addison Stark, CEO and Cofounder of AtmosZero, into the transformative technologies revolutionizing industrial heat and steam production. Stark, leading the charge at AtmosZero, is pioneering a new age of decarbonization with innovative, electrified solutions for industrial processes, challenging the traditional reliance on fossil fuels. AtmosZero stands at the forefront of energy innovation, focusing on scalable, efficient, and sustainable heat pump technologies. Stark discusses the significant impact of decarbonizing industrial heat, which constitutes a substantial portion of global emissions, and how AtmosZero's approach to electrification can lead to a more sustainable and efficient industrial sector. Throughout the conversation, Stark sheds light on the complexities of integrating new technologies into existing infrastructures, the economics of transitioning to greener solutions, and the broader implications for global energy policies. the conversation also delves into the intricacies of AtmosZero's cutting-edge heat pump technology. Stark elucidates the engineering behind their high-temperature heat pumps, capable of reaching temperatures over 200°C, which marks a significant advancement in the field. This technology is not only pivotal for enabling a wide range of industrial processes to transition away from fossil fuels but also enhances energy efficiency and reduces operational costs. The discussion extends further around the integration of AtmosZero's solutions with renewable energy sources. Stark explains the dual benefit of coupling their technology with solar and wind power: reducing the carbon footprint of industrial heat production while also addressing the intermittency challenges of renewable energy. By leveraging thermal energy storage systems, AtmosZero's approach ensures a steady and reliable supply of high-temperature heat, even when renewable energy generation is low. This synergy between advanced heat pump technology and renewable energy sources exemplifies a holistic approach to industrial decarbonization, aligning with global sustainability goals. Also discussed, is the importance of smart grid compatibility and the potential for AtmosZero's systems to participate in demand response programs. This capability not only enhances the resilience and flexibility of the energy grid but also provides economic incentives for industries to adopt cleaner technologies. In conclusion, listeners will be treated to an insightful discussion on the challenges and opportunities of electrifying industrial heat, the significance of product-driven solutions over project-based approaches, and the potential for scalable, efficient electrification technologies to transform the energy landscape.
