Today we discuss two unique party games: Yura Yura Penguin designed and published by Ryoko Yabuchi and Ghost Blitz designed by Jacques Zeimet and published by Zoch Verlag! Yura Yura Penguin is what you'd expect if you'd put Uno, Jenga and adorable penguin artwork in a blender. The game is simple: on your turn you'll take whatever action was played by the previous player and then play a card with a matching color. You'll need to be careful though, each card action will require you to place pieces on a constantly growing tower of fowl, ice and makeshift platforms. The player that topples the iceberg, loses! Ghost Blitz on the other hand is all about pattern recognition and speed. Every round a player will reveal a card that shows multiple caricatures which correspond to objects on the table. The goal is to identify either what color and or object is missing, or what object is represented exactly. The player to guess first and grab the object gets to keep the card. Whoever has the most cards when the deck runs out wins! Learn more about Yura Yura Penguin here. If you're interested in getting a copy for yourself, visit Ryoko's webstore here.Learn more about Ghost Blitz here.Should we play it again? Bring it to the channel? Never touch it again? In episode 6 the Have Fun and Play podcasters discuss new gaming experiences, what it might mean to work in the gaming industry, and new developments from Amazon and Microsoft. Myron and Anna start things off with a review of Ghost Blitz. It’s a fast-paced game, where you might just get punched if things get out of hand. JT joins the ranks of Galaxy of Heroes and explains why she doesn’t like playing on “hard mode.” Despite her reservations on being forced to play on higher difficulties, Ewoks seem to have her hooked on the game. Meanwhile, Tom and Myron explain why they both want to work in the gaming industry. JT and Anna are fine with the idea as long as Tom continues to populate Cog’s Emporium with cool items. Finally, the crew wraps the episode talking about Amazon’s recent changes for Prime members and what Xbox All Access means for gamers. Remember to look for all episodes of our podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher, and TuneIn. Make sure to subscribe to the show so you’ll never miss an episode. It's the twenty first episode of the Rollin' Dice Show! This week Andy and Richard are by themselves, just like the good old days when they had no idea what they were doing. In a slight change to your usual programmed content Andy and Richard start off the show by discussing the article "Tabletop Gaming has a White Male Terrorism Problem," and how it's important to be open to listening to different experiences in the hobby and actually take them on board, whether you like what you hear or not. As two straight white men there's nothing we can say about what it must be like for women or people of colour in the hobby that wouldn't be better said by someone else, but just be good to people and accept that there's a world outside the one you know. We then move on to three games we've been playing recently: touching on our first impressions of the decidedly difficult Thunderbirds, discussing what it's like playing the silly and cutthroat Epic Spell Wars at a varying number of players, and waxing lyrical about the superbly simple (but at times down right violent) Ghost Blitz. Games Discussed: Thunderbirds: The Board Game Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre Ghost Blitz As promised in the podcast, you can find Ghost Blitz on Amazon, for under £10!
